Granted, I’m only just past Ann’s awakening in my replay so there’s a decent chance for me to change my mind but man. Ryuji ogling Ann’s costume feels so much worse tonal dissonance to me than Junpei and Yosuke’s casual misogyny because it comes straight off the heels of him raging at Kamoshida being the catalyst for Shiho’s attempted suicide and Ann’s own violent rejection of Kamoshida’s predation upon herself.

#like. I think you can reconcile Yosuke and Junpei’s misogyny and objectification of women at times INTO their character #you can point to wider patterns of behaviour and unquestioned assumptions about women and anxieties about their masculinity #that permeate through their entire character yknow?#but this coming from RYUJI??? right at THIS moment??? straight off the heels of THAT? you feel insane #I don’t know where to try integrating that into my understanding of the character because quite literally two seconds ago Ryuji was ready t #beat the shit out of Kamoshida for what he’d done to Shiho like. man.#tunes talks critical #tunes talks persona #it’s this specific instance that really grates me
