Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader, Dean Winchester x Reader

Summary: You learn the side effects of sex pollen first hand. Bucky doesn't know what to do. But Dean does.

He ran his hands back through his hair, the sounds of your moans driving him up the wall. You scratched at the door like a trapped animal and it was all Bucky could do not to open it.

Something was wrong.

Had been wrong since you came back from your last hunt.

“Baby,” you whined through the door. “Please…”

He had made a call to the one person who would know what the fuck was going on and who hadn’t gone that far after dropping you off.

“Dean,” he greeted upon opening the front door.

“James.”

“Did I interrupt something,” Bucky guessed, eyeing the suit and tie that was in place of the usual flannel and blue jeans.

“It doesn’t matter. Based on everything you’ve told me, you’re not going to like what needs to be done.” The sound of you falling to the floor in the bedroom behind them interrupted Dean and both he and Bucky turned to the door.

“You’ll help her feel better?”

Dean paused at the genuine concern in Bucky’s voice. He had nothing against the man, they both just so happened to be in love with the same woman. And the agreement to keep their relationships separate was about to change in a drastic way.

“You’re gonna wanna brace yourself before we go in there. She’s your girl, right,” Dean waited for Bucky to nod before he took a deep breath and continued. “The moment we walk in there, she’s going to be calling me Daddy.”

He couldn’t help the smile that tugged at the corner of his mouth. But when Bucky made a face, one that clearly expressed confusion but the willingness to punch him, Dean shrugged and walked past him to at least hide it.

“Broken Souls Made Whole” Part 1

Prompt #5: “You’re one of the most important things in my life”

Pairings: Bucky x Original Character of Color

Word Count: 2,018

Warnings: Brief mention of suicide, racial indifference, and a little sexual innuendo

A/N: Sorry I’m late!

The mind sometimes plays cruel tricks on you. James Buchanan Barnes knew this better than anyone.

Sure, he had lucid days when past demons ceased to exist and he actually formed a thought not laced with darkness.

Other days weren’t so pretty. Today, Bucky was off kilter.

After a night of fitful sleep, Bucky left the tower with his black baseball cap pulled down low, hands tucked in his stonewashed jean pockets.  

He stumbled upon a pond with ducks and ducklings. The ripples in the water reminded him of days gone by. Bucky made a mental note to bring bread to feed his quacking friends.

Sitting over to his left, a woman with empty cognac colored eyes, bronze complexion with braids woven into an intricate pattern, stared into the abyss of nothingness.

Her mind riddled with so many unsavory thoughts. She’d been dealt a shitty hand and wanted to throw in the towel.

Lately, the wheelchair had become her jailor. All she wanted was freedom to walk or run like the old days, before a drunk driver ran a red light, stripping away her independence.

Bucky didn’t know her story because it wasn’t his place to be rude and ask. All he knew she appeared to be broken. That’s one thing they had in common.

A week passed. The beleaguered super soldier stayed away from the park. Not only did the ducks miss their feeding, Aniyah missed him as well.

She knew who he was and about his past. It didn’t matter; they were two bookends on a rickety shelf, holding onto whatever normalcy they could.

Bucky resurfaced . While feeding the ducks, Aniyah took a chance and wheeled over to him.

“James Barnes right?. How are you?”

Clearly taken aback, Bucky responded. “H-hiya. How do  ya’know who I am?”

Chuckling, Aniyah mused, “That’s easy. Everyone knows the infamous James Barnes”

“SInce you know who I am, what’s your name dollface?”

“Please forgive my manners. I’m Aniyah. Pleased to meet you.”

Extending his flesh hand, Aniyah shook it and smiled.

“The ducks are happy you’re back. Did you go on vacation?”

Rubbing the back of his neck, “Naw, uh been locked away in m’room. Ain’t felt right,” Bucky tapped his head.

Aniyah nodded, understanding what Bucky felt because she was there now.

They sat in silence for awhile until Aniyah decided to break the  monotony.

“I know you won’t ask so let me unburden you. I was hit by a drunk driver over a year ago. Guess walking in the crosswalk doesn’t matter anymore. There’s been days when I wanted to end it all.”

Bucky didn’t say a word. He knew Aniyah needed to vent and he was more than glad to listen.

“Life sucks man. I used to dance with a modern dance troupe in Manhattan. Now, here I am. Stuck in this damn rolling contraption.” Tears trickled down her face.

Bucky pulled her wheelchair close to the bench he was sitting on and hugged Aniyah as she shed pinned up frustration in the form of tears.

“Hey hey doll. It’s alright. I got’cha. Shh.” Bucky understood better than anyone.

“Guess I’ve been holding that for awhile. Thanks for allowing me to mess up your shirt.”

Bucky shook his head, “S’okay. I didn’t mind. Listen, would’ya like to have dinner sometimes?”

“I’d like that Bucky. Hand me your phone.” Aniyah typed in her address and phone number.

At first, they’d meet at the park twice a week. Soon, they graduated her favorite coffee shop. Eventually, dinner evolved into a full blown relationship.

8 months passed, Aniyah and Bucky  couldn’t stand to be apart from each other. Her sister, Trinity, had trepidations about her baby sister’s new beau, but she kept any snarky comments to herself.

One night while out to dinner Bucky suggested Aniyah come to the compound and meet the team.

“Do you think that would be wise, Bucky? I mean, look at me.” He disliked the self-loathing that would befall Aniyah sometimes.

Placing his hand on her cheek, Bucky smiled, “They would love to meet you.  I talk about ya so much, Nat doesn’t believe you’re real.”

Laughing, Aniyah shook her head. “Well, we can’t have everyone thinking you have an imaginary friend, can we?”

“Great. Tomorrow is movie night at the compound. I’ll come pick’ya up at 6 p.m. You can hang out and meet everyone. One more thing. Ignore Tony and Sam; they’re real pains in the ass.”

“Alright Bucky. It’s a date. Goodnight.” Aniyah kissed Bucky lovingly on the lips.

“You’re gonna be the death of me woman. Goodnight”

MEETING THE “FAMILY”

Aniyah wore a button down white shirt, black tattered skinny jeans and simple black flats.

Bucky loved Aniyah’s braids. He found the criss cross pattern creative and beautiful the way they fell onto her delicate shoulders.

Looking at her reflection in the elevator glass, Aniyah adjusted her shirt and checked her modest make-up.

Noticing her nervous demeanor, Bucky pointed out, “You’re gorgeous babe. No need to fix anything.”

“You’re biased Sergeant.” Bucky gazed deep into Aniyah’s eyes and kissed her.

Unaware of their surroundings, Bucky and Aniyah were pulled out of their searing kiss by Steve clearing his throat.

“Uh, ‘cuse me lovebirds,” rubbing the back of his neck.

Obviously startled, Aniyah blushed. “H-hi. You must be Steve.” She extended her dainty hand.

Bucky wiped lipstick from his swollen lips. “This is Aniyah, Stevie.”

“Pleased to meet ya. Everyone’s waiting in the common room.”

Aniyah rolled her wheelchair into the room, as Nat and Wanda greeted her.

“Wow, you’re not Barnes’ imaginary friend,” Natasha quipped.

“Oh goodie. I’m so happy to finally meet you,” Wanda was absolutely giddy.

“Hello Nat and Wanda. Nice to finally meet you guys also.” Aniyah was pulled into a hug.

Sam just couldn’t resist. “Frosty said you were beautiful but to finally see you, he lied. You’re radiant.”

Bucky growled and slapped Sam’s hand away from Aniyah’s. “Back off Birdbrain. She’s spoken for.”

Tony made his way over. “So, you must be Manchurian Candidate’s love interest. I’m so sorry.”

Aniyah threw an insult of her own. “Why are you sorry Tony? I should give Ms. Potts my condolences. Dating you must be pure hell.”

Nat, Wanda, and Bucky couldn’t hold their snickering. “Barnes, she’s a keeper.” Nat mused, sipping a vodka and tonic.

The movie choice, “21 Jump Street”, didn’t appeal to Bucky. So, he suggested showing  Aniyah around the compound.

Bucky thought it would be a good idea to show his best girl the view from the rooftop deck.

“It’s so peaceful up here, Bucky. I could sit and star gaze all night.” Aniyah’s voice was laced with a touch of sadness.

“Shuga, what’s wrong? The smile has left your face and those bright eyes gone dim.” Bucky scooted next to her.

“Your friends treat me like a normal person baby. It’s so refreshing.Trinity means well, but she acts like I’m an invalid.” Aniyah’s voice trembled.

Taking a leap of faith, Bucky proposed Aniyah move in with him at the compound.

“Dollface, you have no idea how hard it is saying goodnight and leaving ya. I know ya love Trinity, but it’s time to enjoy life again. I’d love to wake up to your smiling face and go to sleep with ya wrapped in my arms. You’re one of the most important things in my life. Would ya do me the honor of moving in with me?

“James Buchanan Barnes you’re important to me as well. Thank you for taking a chance on us. And to answer your question, yes I’d love to move in with you!”

Bucky sealed the deal with a kiss. He loved Aniyah and wanted her with him all the time.

Aniyah broke the news to her sister. Trinity balked at the idea of her moving into the compound. “Are you crazy Niyah? You’ve known this man how long? 8 months! Use your head girl!”

Determined to take control of her life, Aniyah stated her case. “Look let’s lay our cards on the table. It’s not about how long I’ve known Bucky, is it? This goes deeper than that.”

Trinity whipped around, peering deep into Aniyah’s eyes. “Okay, I’ll spell it out for you. He’s an assassin and he ain’t a brother!”

Aniyah became enraged. “You’re prejudice! James is a former assassin and his skin color doesn’t matter! Sorry to burst your color blind bubble, but I’m moving in with him whether you like it or not.”

Snatching her phone from the bed, Aniyah called Nat. “Hey Nat. Are you busy?” Aniyah’s voice quivered.

“Aniyah? No I’m not. What’s up?”

“Would you mind helping me move my things? I don’t want to wait until James comes back.”

Wanda’s brows furrowed. “What’s wrong?”

“I dunno but we’re going to get Aniyah. She’s really upset.” Nat grabbed her car keys, pulling Wanda along to the garage.

Meanwhile, Trinity, against her better judgement, helped Aniyah pack. “I’m just looking out for you Niyah. It’s too soon.”

“Trinity, like it or not, I’m going. I hope you find it in your heart to accept my choices. If not, oh well. I’ll always love and miss you.”

The doorbell rang. Aniyah greeted Nat and Wanda. The female Avengers introduced themselves to Trinity. She feigned interest while helping her baby sister load luggage into the tinted window SUV.

Wanda put the last bag in the back. Aniyah reached out for her sister; Trinity simply waved good-bye walking back into the house.

It was a bittersweet moment as Nat and Wanda held Aniyah. Trinity’s blessing meant the world to her.

Nat carefully lifted her into the seat, folded the wheelchair and closed the door. As they drove away, Trinity peeped through the curtains, watching her baby sister leave.

MOVING IN

Tony was the official welcome person. “So, you decided to stay with Tin Man in our friendly asylum?”

“Yes Tony, I did. Figured one more crazy person wouldn’t hurt!” Aniyah laughed.

“Glad you’re here. Now Barnes can shut up about how much he missed you.” Tony sipped on scotch. “Wanda and Nat will be your tour guides. See ya!”

Aniyah waved, as Tony went back to his lab.

Helping her get settled, Wanda couldn’t help but feel Aniyah’s aura. “Are you alright?”

“Trinity and I had a fight. She still thinks of Bucky as his past. He’s a different man from the Winter Soldier. Hell, he can deactivate his metal arm and we’re talking about him getting a service dog.

Breathing deep, Aniyah poured her heart out.

“When I met James, life as I knew it was bleak. Truthfully, I’d considered ending it. Then one day, I built up the nerve to speak to him. The more we talked, we knew our meeting was kismet. Here you have two broken humans, coming together to make a whole person. I can honestly say I love him.” A tear escaped her eye.

Bucky stood in the doorway, listening to this fragile dove pour her heart out.

“Guess you couldn’t wait huh? Glad you’re here doll.”

Making grabby hands, Aniyah couldn’t wait to wrap her arms around the man she loved.

“Buck, I’m happy you’re home. I’ve missed you.”

“I know something happened ‘cause you’re here early. We won’t talk ‘bout it now. Tomorrow. Right now, m’gonna light some candles, drop one of them fancy bath bombs in the water and spend time with the  woman I love. First, I gotta rinse  all this shit off m’body from the mission.”

“Now that sounds like a good idea. Are you trying to get frisky with me?”

“Hell yeah woman. I’ll be back in a flash.”

Reaching for his flesh hand, Aniyah kissed his knuckles. “I love you too James Buchanan Barnes.”

They’d found each other under the weirdest of circumstances. Two halves coming together to make one whole person; one heart; one love.

Taking fic prompts!

Hi friends! I’m still sick but better enough to read and write, and starting to get bored of the interior walls of my bedroom. Thought I’d do some ficlet prompts if anyone is interested! 

I'm in the mood for a bit of a challenge so let’s play this way: pick a ship, three tropes (one letter, one number, and one emoji), and a rating from the lists below, and send me an ask! The weirder the combination the better!

After surfing for most of the morning, I've grown tired. The waves here are so different than in Malibu. I run out of the water onto the sand, tossing my hair to the side. I hadn't noticed Topper on the beach in the middle of a morning run until I return to my belongings. He slows to a stop once he reaches my stuff. 

"Morning," I greet with a warm smile. 

"I could see you down the beach. You're really good!" 

"Thanks! Years of practice." I giggle. 

He raises a brow. "What are you up to later?" 

"Well, there's the party at the Camerons since Ward and Rose are gone for the weekend. You're going right?" I ask. 

"I was thinking of making an appearance." He remarks wittily. "You free until then?" 

I shrug. "As a bird." 

"Would you want to get some coffee or something?" 

A faint blush forms on my cheeks. "Sounds good."

Topper

Sitting at the small table outside of the cafe, I can't help but admire her as she talks about California. All changed out her bathing suit and into a cropped Boston band T-shirt and ripped up Daisy Dukes. Half of her hair is tossed up into a bun, the rest hanging loose in waves over her shoulders. She doesn't notice my absentmindedly listening as I analyze every inch of her, even her white Converse high tops, the laces so stretched that she can tie them around her ankles multiple times. 

The waitress interrupts my daze and takes our orders. 

"Regular black coffee and farmer's breakfast please," I request. 

"Lavender tea and granola acai bowl, please. Thank you so much." Y/N smiles, handing her menu to the girl. 

What the hell is acai anyway? Does anyone know? Because I don't. 

When her eyes meet mine, she giggles. "What? Are you gonna start calling me Granola Girl?" 

"I didn't even know how to pronounce acai until you said it," I admit. 

"You should try it! It's very good for you!" She encourages. 

I make a 'yuck' sound and cower. "Isn't it purple?" 

"Maybe... Don't let that scare you!" She giggles. "Branch out, Thorton." 

"Okay, I'll try it, but only because you're peer-pressuring me!" I laugh. 

After a few minutes, my coffee and her tea arrive. Almost immediately, she reaches for the bottle of honey on the table and squeezes some in. 

"Did you know it takes bees almost a month to produce honey?" She asks. "A little fun fact."  

I glance up from stirring my coffee right as she brings her honey-coated finger to her mouth and begins to suck on it. Her eyes meet mine innocently, not suspecting of my thoughts. Fuck me. 

I swallow hard and quickly return my focus to picking up my coffee. 

"Sarah mentioned a party happening at The Boneyard tomorrow. What's that?" She asks with furrowed brows. 

"It's uh... it's place on The Cut," I stammer, still caught off guard by the honey incident. 

She frowns as takes a sip from her tea. "Why is it called 'The Cut'?" 

"It's where Pogues live. It's just the less valuable part of the island," I do my best to describe. 

"Pogues?" 

"The people from The Cut." 

"Do you all from your neighborhood have a name?" 

"They call us Kooks." I shrug. 

"At least it's fair. Sounds rather West Side Story," she teases with a giggle.

The waitress appears with our food. My plate is rather basic, All-American breakfast. Y/N's is a symbol of the trendy West Coast. In summary, we fit our stereotypes. 

I'm hesitant to say what I'm thinking, but Y/N doesn't know the island as I do. She hasn't met any Pogues and should be careful. "You should stay away from Pogues. They have a tendency to steal and lie." I advise. 

Her face falters, apparently, they don't have stuff like where she's from. "Oh... wow... noted." 

"Yeah, I would stay close to Rafe or me tomorrow night," I suggest, genuinely concerned for her and partially for my own benefit. 

She smiles, taking a bite of her smoothie bowl. "Will do."

"Our friends will be there so you should be okay, but Pogues will be too. Tourons too."  

She laughs. "Is that what you call tourists?" 

I suppress a grin and drag my tongue across my lower lip. 

"So I'm a touron?" She questions with amusement. 

My eyes grow wide and impulsively, my hand travels across the table to land on hers. "No, no! Not you!" I then notice my hand resting on hers. Oh geez, I'm messing this up! "Oh.. uh.. sor-" 

Calmly, she glides her hand over, allowing our fingers to interlock. She brings them down to rest on her lap under the table. "You're fine, Topper!" She giggles. "You apologize too much. Relax. It's just me." 

A smile forms on my lips and I nod. She's right, it's her, she's not scary. She's kind and understanding, more relaxed than anyone I've ever met. 

"Here, try this." She scoops up some of her smoothie bowl, picking up some granola and fruit on top. She guides the spoon into my mouth and I try it. 

I nod, processing the experience. "Okay, I'm a fan." 

"I knew you would be," she grins, giving my hand a faint squeeze. 

The remainder of the meal, on the walk to the car, throughout the drive, and until I dropped her off, we hold hands. It felt so natural and right, as though our hands were made for each other. It was difficult to let go, to say the least.

Well into the party at the Cameron's, Rafe challenges me to jump off the roof into their pool three stories below. Kelce gets him fired up, encouraging the challenge. Y/N and Sarah innocently stand nearby on the balcony, smoking a joint together. I would be lying if I said I haven't been watching Y/N all night. That yellow bikini should be illegal. 

"I'll do it if Y/N does!" I compromise. 

Rafe grins wickedly and I instantly regret what I said. He gets up from his spot on the couch and jogs over to the girls. He rests his hand on Y/N's lower back, dangerously close to her ass. I swallow hard, doing my best not to make a scene. As they talk and laugh, he glides his arm around her. The way she looks at him so intently, makes me wonder if it's solely friendly. Then again, Y/N has the ability to make everyone feel like they're the most important person in the world. 

"Oh, you're on!" I hear her tell him. 

Rafe takes her hand and brings her over. "She's down!" 

The next thing I know, Y/N and I are standing on the roof of the Cameron's house. 

"Scared?" I ask her as I peer down at the pool below. People stand with their heads tilted back, cheering for us to jump. 

She shrugs. "It's just like cliff jumping. I do it all the time back home." She slips her hand into mine. 

My eyes flicker down to our interlocked hands and an idea pops into my head. I tuck my arm behind her legs and scoop her up. 

She instantly flings her arms around my neck and squeals. "Topper!" 

"Ready?" I chuckle. 

"On three!" She giggles nervously. 

I nod and begin to count. "Okay! One! Two!" I jump and cheers ensue louder. 

Y/N screams and clings to me. Her face is hidden within the curve of my neck. Within seconds, the cool pool water consumes us. We break apart and I kick to the surface. When I pop out of the water and wipe my eyes, I find Y/N close by. She swims over to me, smiling brightly. I snake my arm around her and guide her legs around my waist. 

I point to her and announce to the cheering crowd. "This is the coolest girl in the OBX!"

Rafe

The party has died down, the sun threatening to rise in two to three hours. Topper and Kelce finish a game of pong outside and Sarah crashed a while ago. I watch dazed as Y/N takes another hit from the joint and hands it to me. She sits back onto the couch and leans into my side, resting her head on my shoulder as I take another hit. Once there's nothing left but ash, I set it down on the ashtray on the side table. I rest my now free hand on Y/N's knee as she rests against me.  

"So soft..." I mumble, rubbing my thumb over her skin. 

Y/N rises off my shoulder, resting her chin against it. I turn my head, meeting her red and dilated eyes. She smiles softly at me. 

I lift my other hand to caress her cheek. "So beautiful..." 

She stares into my eyes and I'm left wondering what's going on inside her head. My eyes flicker down to her lips and I want to kiss her. Following my instincts, I lean in. 

Shaking her head, she presses a hand to my chest and moves away. "Rafe, don't." 

I persist, scooting closer to her. "Why not? It's not like you're still with Nate," I chuckle. 

"We're friends..." She reminds me. 

I press against her shoulder to urge her down onto the couch. "We could be more." I lean in to kiss her again. 

Within seconds, Y/N's palm flies across my cheek with a smack. "Jesus Rafe! I said no!" 

I hiss, my hand covering up my cheek. 

Y/N takes the opportunity to slip out from under me. She storms off toward the staircase. I slam my fist against the back of the couch. Damn, that slap fucking hurt. She really knows how to hit! Suddenly, Topper and Kelce appear from outside, laughing and talking about the party. I pull out my vile of coke from my pocket, ready to release the pain in my face. 

"Where did Y/N go?" Topper chuckles as they plop down on the couch with me.  

"I don't know, bed? Who gives a fuck," I grumble, pouring myself a new line on the table. 

“What’s with the attitude?” Kelce questions. 

“Nothing, man. Just don’t care about her.” I hide behind a disdained expression.

Wasn’t sure I’d manage it, especially after I started my job, but October is over, and I managed to write (at least) one fic every day, filling the Whumptober2021 challenge!  (Two of them still need cleaning up before I archive them, but they still count.)

Day 7 - What A Day Teen. Hurt/Comfort/Family.  Scott, Gordon, Tracy Brothers. 3k. They were supposed to be hanging out in the park after an afternoon in the arcade.  Exploding coffee shops, kidnappings and car chases were not part of the plan. Prompts used: helplessness | numbness | blindness

Day 8 - More Than Exhaustion Gen. Hurt/Comfort. Scott, Gordon, Virgil. 1k Scott knew what exhaustion felt like.  He just forgot that sometimes exhaustion was merely a symptom, and not the whole problem. Prompts used: pneumothorax | exotic illness | “Definitely just a cold” Warnings: emeto

Day 9 - Icy Fate Teen.  Angst.  Gordon, Scott, Virgil, John. 1k They lost Mom to an avalanche.  A glacial collapse wasn’t an avalanche, but it stole Scott just the same. Prompts used: presumed dead | (blind) rage | tears

Day 10 - Drawn Down (Ensnared 3) Teen. Hurt/Comfort. John, Col. Casey, Scott. 2k Chapter 3 to Ensnared Prompts used: hospital | flare-up | ice chips

Day 11 - Test Flight Teen. Hurt/Comfort. Scott, Gordon, Virgil. 3k All IR equipment was thoroughly tested before use, and the new Rescue S was no exception. Unfortunately, test flights don’t always go to plan. Prompts used: adrift | drowning | dehydration

Day 12 - Escape 3 Teen. Hurt/Comfort, Angst. Gordon, Scott. 2k An island vacation turns into a nightmare, and it’s going to take Gordon everything he’s got, and then some, to get himself and his injured brother to safety. Prompts used: torture | made to watch | begging Warnings: torture

Day 13 - Inspection Day Gone Wrong 2 Teen. Hurt/Comfort.  Gordon, Scott, Virgil, John. 2k Scott's visits to TI were never a secret, but security was supposed to be stringent enough that that wouldn't cause problems. Prompts used: “This is gonna suck” | burns | cauterization

Day 14 - Distracted Teen. Hurt/Comfort.  Gordon, Scott. 2k A high rise rescue with Virgil out of action was enough of a challenge without Alan being chased by flying bombs in space at the same time. Prompts used: crush injuries | beaten | force

Day 15 -​ Did You Know Dragonflies Eat Bees? Teen. Hurt/Comfort, Friendship.  Mechanic, Scott. 3k An old nemesis has returned.  Luckily, IR have a new ally to counter them with. Prompts used: delirium | fever dreams | bees

1. Ultimate parallel tiva gifset

I remember so clearly not sleeping after 17x11 aired because I had so many parallels to make and this was a few of them that got into a gifset! One of the first gifsets I was really proud and that I’ll cherish for a long time. Thier story is beautiful :’)

2. Elevator gifset

This one took THE LONGEST and I remember going mad about elevator moments (and I still lost one but we don’t talk about it) but it turned out great!!! A favorite one as well, it was worth all the photoshop crashes. 

3. Black and white tiva gifset

This one took a whole eternity and then more. Beautiful, made me cry a few times and it turned out just like I wanted. I love love love this one. 

4. Once Upon a Halloween

I will then answer you with a 1-3 lines from the song you then have to build your fic around. Since I am giving lines and are allowing more than one fandom multiple people can sign up for one song. I will cross them out if I feel one song has gotten enough attention. You are free to use the remaining song as little or as much as you like outside of those few lines, but the lines I send you must be the focus. You either have to directly use them in the fic (as narrative or dialogue) or they have to be deciding for the theme of the story somehow.

I just got back from @ficwritersretreat2019, where we talked about ways to support and promote other fic writers. One idea was to write introductory posts for ourselves, then reblog each others’ posts to spread the word to all our followers. Below I have tagged the other writers who went to this year’s retreat, but even if you’ve never been, feel free to introduce yourself and your own writing. I’m MissDavis and I've been writing BBC Sherlock fic since shortly after s3. Most of my work is Johnlock with some occasional Johnlockary thrown in for good measure. Full Court Press  rated E College basketball AU: Sherlock is the team’s best shooter. John is the team’s best ball-handler.

Side Effects rated E WIP, currently 10/17 chapters now complete! Sequel to Breakable. Life is a lot better for Sherlock and John than it was a year ago. Yes, John still can't walk and Sherlock is still on antidepressants, but they're married now, and almost everything else is back to their version of normal. They have a dog. Sherlock's solving cases again. But when Moriarty learns of their marriage, he escapes from prison and takes it upon himself to make their lives miserable. Is Sherlock really up to the challenge of catching a criminal whose only goal is to make sure that he and John don't live happily ever after?

Just a Touch rated E John has trouble falling asleep these days. There’s one thing he can do that always seems to help, but he’s stuck in this hotel room with Sherlock and doesn’t think he’ll get the chance. How will he ever find relief and a good night’s sleep?

If You Lead Me rated M Enough time has passed since Mary’s death that John is finally ready to start a new relationship. With Sherlock, he hopes. But given Sherlock’s stated aversion to romantic entanglements, John is a bit worried about being rejected, and doesn’t know how to proceed. Fortunately, there’s someone who can help him along.

Sherlock Is Actually a Cat Person rated E John brings home a kitten. Sherlock is not okay with it.

The Last Time Alone rated E But it wasn’t enough, not for John. He needed more. He needed someone to hold besides a child, and someone to kiss on the lips and not just the top of the head. He needed sly looks across the dinner table and to know if he put Rosie to bed early he might emerge from her room to find a candle lit and dessert served just for two.

The One Where No One Proposes rated G Sherlock inherits his parents’ wedding rings. It’s ridiculous that they mean something to him. He doesn’t plan to do anything with them. Sentiment.

Equal Footing  rated E Sherlock had certainly never shown any interest in women’s footwear, or in seeing John appear as anything but fully male. But five extra inches—that opened up all sorts of interesting possibilities.

Dirty Laundry rated E If they got far enough along, John knew he would stop noticing the steady clanking thump of the washer, but so far he’d been unable to keep himself from being distracted.

A Boyfriend in Need rated G John's in medical school now, but it's Sherlock who's taking care of him today. A sequel to Full Court Press.

Rosie and the Rainbows rated M Sherlock isn’t exactly opposed to Rosie joining the Girl Guides, but he doesn’t really see the appeal, either. It ends up being much worse than he imagined.

Mrs. Hudson had been with many men over the years—older, younger, single, divorced, married and seeing her on the side either secretly or openly—but this was the first time she had ever been with a man while his wife lay right beside them.

Tiny Little Pieces 1594 words, rated G, John/Mary. They watched to the end of the DVD; Sherlock smiled and winked at them and John flicked off the screen again. “So. That’s Sherlock.” He gave her a smile that was even more forced than the one Sherlock had just displayed. “It’s funny. I’d almost forgotten what he sounded like.”

Not in the Job Description 1,505 words, rated E, Sherlock/Sally. The case has Sherlock stumped, and John’s not around to help him focus. Someone has to step up and help him clear his mind.

Once He Is Gone 1K words, rated T, Gen. John is fine at Sherlock’s funeral. Of course he is. Why wouldn’t he be? He’s been to funerals for so many of his friends. Why would Sherlock’s be any different?

When Mary Met Sally 766 words, rated G, Gen. Sally stops by Baker Street with a case but finds out that Sherlock isn’t home.

practice challenge ~ life before the selection

((okay, so please forgive me for any spelling/grammar errors i tried. also, idk if i will have the time to write the other 2 prompts but i will definitely try! also this thing below is supposed to be like a letter (that’s also why it’s short, i mean who has the time to write more than 1k words in a letter), and on top the envelope. i know my editing skills are out-of-this-world, but really this is the best i could do))

3th of May 2090

Dear dad,

I hope you are well, I mean given the circumstances of course. How is your leg? Do you get any painkillers? This stupid country just keeps on amazing me. How can someone smuggle in a gun? It’s supposed to be a max security prison, right? Anyhow, I hope you are well!

I might just have the best news ever. Mom picked up her violin again. I mean, can you believe it? It was just lying under your bed collecting dust for the past 6 years. The other day I noticed the bedroom door being open, and when I looked inside to see what was going on, she was just sitting there on the floor with the violin in her hands. She hasn’t played anything yet, for all I know she hasn’t even touched the strings but still, this is an amazing start.

She misses you terribly. We all do.

As I’m writing this, there is a massive snowstorm happening outside. It’s May already and Winnipeg is covered in snow. It was freezing this morning, with a temperature of 15.6°F. And people are still saying climate change isn’t real. How’s the weather for you? You’re even more up north than we are.

Despite this snow problem, I’m at work right now. Mr Wood said I didn’t have to come, “we won’t have many customers today” he said. And he was right, only one person has entered the store so far and it was to ask if we happened to sell any booze. Crazy man, the store’s name is on the sign on the windows. I told him “no I’m sorry sir, this is a music store.” Then he spat on the floor and left. People.

Lola says hi btw, she says her fam often lights a candle for you.

Speaking of Lo, Mr Wood made her his official co-owner of the store. She is technically my boss now, it’s so crazy. So now Mr Wood is teaching her how to run the store, explaining everything like how to do the accounts, how to make a profit, where to buy new instruments and so on. I thought she would find it boring, but that’s not the case at all. She seems very motivated to run the store.

OH dad! We had another band practice last Saturday, and oh it went so well. I know we’re not really your type of music, but I’m sure you would have been very proud. Also remember the new song Felix and I wrote, The World Turning? I think I told you about it in my last letter. Anyhow, I think people actually like it? Our video online has more views than we had expected. Last time I checked it had over 11,000 views and given that it has been up there for a little longer than 1 month is just insane. And the comments, dad, they’re all positive. People have been calling themselves The Whisperers. You know, because were Five Whispers. It blows my mind. We just need to save some more money for the trip, but then I will bring my iPod and you can actually hear our music.

I think you would like it, despite it being nothing like jazz music.

Before I forget, Daniel and Molly have been teaching Melody to say some words. They came over the other day, and when they showed Mel a picture of you, she said grandpa. Well not exactly, more like ‘grampy’ but she did it! It was so cute. Can you believe she is already 18 months? She is growing up way too fast.

Speaking of growing up way too fast. Aria has a boyfriend now! She is 12 years old, so I’m not sure she gets the entire concept of love yet. I guess this means I must be the one to explain her about the birds and the bees. Or maybe I can talk Daniel into it, I mean he has a kid I’m sure he can get the message across. I already had the pleasure to meet the little fellow because she brought him over the other day. His name is Vinny, he lives in our neighbourhood and they go to public school together. It’s just all so cute! And you know what I found yesterday? Well, I was just casually cleaning the house when I found a little notebook under her bed, besides some other stuff but I will spare you the details. Anyhow, the little book contained an entire plan for her future wedding. It also had a drawing in it. It was all of us on her wedding day, Aria in her princess dress. But it was a family portrait, all of us, including you. Then she walked in, saw me with her notebook which was apparently ‘a secret diary’ so she didn’t really appreciate me have a peek inside…

I miss you dad. I wish you could be here with us, so you can be a part in these stories.

This Calls for a Celebration!

Well Chuck has certainly blessed this amateur fanfic girl - over 1000 of you are following me! I really can’t believe it, and I am so grateful. There really aren’t words to express how much this means to me, and I’m thrilled that so many of you have found pleasure and amusement from my little fics.

So to celebrate, I present:

I love many things - the smell of summer rain, Red Bull, the fact that they now make unicorn onesie pajamas for adults. But two things in particular top my list of loves: Supernatural and music.

Lately, I’ve been on a 70’s listening streak. Ah, the 70’s! Disco, bell bottoms, and era of some of the most outstanding love songs of all time. You may remember hearing some of these on the radio, the dentist’s office, elevators, and while you’re on hold. Some are classic. Some are so god-awful that they make even the most enthusiastic fluff-lovers among us squirm. But the best thing about these songs is that each of them tells a story.

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a Supernatural story based on the songs on the list. Tell us what was happening with our beloved characters that makes your chosen song the perfect soundtrack! If this isn’t your thing, a signal boost would be much appreciated.

EOR Shinjuku Singularity Chapter 1~Chapter 8

Here it is, the SUPPOSEDLY beginning after Salomon's Singularity for new players to actually understand how HP layer gauge works for the first time. But of course, we have the recent Oniland that jumps immediate to do and complete all Lostbelt so... That's a huge gap in difficulty.

Anyway, this is not compulsory to finish unless you happen to have Servants whose interlude are story-locked in EOR... You'll need to complete them, especially if you intend to get their skills/NP upgraded. *stares at Yan Qing*

Without further ado, let's begin the mystery of Shinjuku!

Chapter 1

........ I kinda started this after Anastasia but I lost the screenshot of this. However, it's as usual your starting mobs and before I forget

Shinjuku Singularity gives HUGE bonus to EVIL-trait Servants for bond points, so if you have any and wanted to grind, this is a good place to do so.

The start as usual is your usual mobs of Caster Hooligans. So that, should be a problem.

Chapter 2

At the start of every wave in this chapter, all of them will start with 1 NP tick in the first wave. Once again, shouldn't really be a problem... Just don't slip your steps and drop yourself into a grave by accident ==lll

Chapter 3

Your first round with fighting of Rider of Shinjuku. Which well... I'll leave the spoilers for later of his true name and others, so anyway, your first battle in dealing against Servant with multiple HP bars.

One gimmick for this chapter... Pray your RNG luck that defense down debuff doesn't hit your main DPS Assassin for this fight. Because it hits randomly among your front-line Servants.

His NP... This can't be spoiler to avoid, especially his NP will have a chance to insta-death you Servants. And also, he also has ignore Evasion skills. So Servants like Shiki and many others... Yeah, do find a Servant to start giving them Guts while also adding on Invincibility because you'll know when RNG fucks you in the ass.

I’ll personally admit... I hate fighting him so much. I nearly resorted to Command Seals to revive my whole team during Welfare Ishtar’s challenge quest to get her copies. Because his attacks and crits are REAL PAIN IN THE ASS. 

And at worst, his insta-death is often just there waiting to happen combine with ignore evasion to kill your whole team.

So yeah, that setup above is no doubt a bad idea to survive against him. Or at least... You need to find a way to survive his crit, his tanky defense buff, his own ignore evasion + insta death NP and the stupid gimmick for this fight.

Fortunately, as this is the first fight on multi-HP layer... You don't get any gimmick buff from them FOR NOW (those who skipped EOR and went straight to Lostbelt would already know the gimmick at each layer break)

Chapter 4

...... I feel so cheated at my impression from FGO wiki the mobs were named Hornet Bees. I thought they were actual bees but... Enough of shame.

Again, TWO gimmicks from here and particular for this mob. Every start of your turn first, there's a chance your whole front-line gets attack down debuff for 1 turn (removable and missable if they can guard from it)

Second gimmick... When Yellow Hornet aka the one with danger sign dies, it'll give all their allies NP damage up. So back to your Nerofes hell in lite mob version, kill all their lackey before the main dish. Or actually, just whack them all at worst because this is an one-freaking wave for this fight AKA bring your best AOE Lancer.

Chapter 5

Your usual Caster-class hooldum... Eh... No comment since I was more focused on the next chapter.

Chapter 6

First arrow is your usual mobs... Except since this is pre-foreigner when it's going to be release... Only main problem for first arrow, try to survive against two Berserker Chimera.

Another side note:

Ishtar bond level raised to level 6! :D

Second arrow is round 2 against Rider of Shinjuku. This time, it has gimmick of decreasing BOTH enemy and your party HP by 1k. As before, he only has 1 HP layer with no gimmick. Try to survive long enough before the flames damage kill your team and main DPS

Changed my setup arrangement which this time it managed to survive more better than the first round. Jeanne’s NP is definitely helpful especially once her interlude that removes her stun kicks in (DW, when is her interlude for that out on NA?!)

But only problem unfortunately other than his attacks... The flames that drains both side HP is still a problem especially when Rider of Shinjuku crits and attacks hard on your Servant OTL

Chapter 7

Three Assassin mobs at 100k+ each... This is only a breather for the next one below.

Chapter 8

First arrow, again one last breather before the main before the next mini Boss fight.

Second arrow is where you deal with Phantom of the Opera and "Christine" aka a Berserker humanoid model. One is no doubt you'll need to keep your team alive since you're dealing with 2 Berserker here. Another is the gimmick, where the moment you break "Christine" HP layer, she'll turned to Massive Ghost. And cue, AOE attack spam. Either one to deal finish is fine... Christine is more suggested since AOE Berserker will kill your main DPS ASAP.

............ Except the ideal of using Euryale here to kick Phantom’s ass, becomes a huge problem. I went for her in front and well... She’s constantly targeted by “Christine” (at this rate, Euryale is the next Merlin where DW will programmed them AI to target her first) and yeah, didn’t help when she lacked the survivability. So yeah, she died after Phantom’s first HP layer broke :/

Jack on the other hand helps... At least for the first layer? Second layer is debatable since I’m not even sure if the female trait is still there.

Jeanne once again helps a lot with her NP once Phantom unleashed his own. Though as I say all that... This only survive with my own Foreigner Servant in. Like Babylonia before it’s out in NA, this will be really interesting before Foreigner class comes in.

I’ll end things here for now since work drained out too much of my energy... To be continued tomorrow/when I wake up 8~10 hrs later of sleep!

My most popular fic on tumblr was Out Patience with 60 notes (wow!!)

My most kudos’d fic on AO3 was Bedtme (Should Not Be 4am) with 62 kudos!

My most favourited fic on FFN was Grounded with 13 favourites!

My longest fic was Long Way From Home, which is incomplete but on 30,902 words published so far (longest complete fic was Grounded on 21,100 words)
