To all the Elden Ring beginners fighting Malenia... PLEASE STOP RUNNING AWAY DURING THE PHASE 2 SCARLET AEONIA BEGINNERRUN. FORWARD.I just lost 4 Malenia co-op attempts in a row because the host (different ones each time) kept running away. While Malenia can fly forward and fly forward pretty fast, she can't fly down so if you run at her, she won't be able to move down and will fly away from you, granting you an actual chance at phase 2.
