⁣ Well I finally caved and bought myself actually running shoes. I went into @fleetfeetmalta with no clue what I wanted or needed but the employees there were amazing and so helpful! We measured my feet and he had me try a few different ones. But these bad-boys felt best!⁣ ⁣ Naturally I had to take them for a spin and see how they feel and how I felt when running. My hip didn’t bother me, and my knee wasn’t as sore! Collapsing on the driveway after my long run of the week. 3.46 at 12:28 pace. . I cramped up a few times and walked but I was going for distance over time this run. . Morning run!
This was a slow run with lots of walking. I woke up earlier than I like to be up and took the dog out on the trails. I’m hoping that in time I’ll be able to run this whole route.

Set out to do an hour and see how far I got. There was a lot of walking. A little bit of running. But not bad for my first run in a while.
I’m unsure why my heart rate mostly stays in the fat burn zone and not the cardio zone. I definitely feel like I’m working hard? Or perhaps I only actually ran 19 minutes out of the 60 I did 🤔
Anyway, proud of myself for actually going cause I finished work late and it was raining so motivation was low! Can’t keep making excuses though.

I started running when quarantine began because I was sad and wanted some vitamin d. I could barely run 2 miles after spending about a month just wallowing. It was the endorphin boost my mental health so needed. But then I had to stop because I got surgery. Then I restarted and loved it so much, but had to stop because I got an injection in my other ankle. Then I decided I WANNA DO A RACE! Signed up for the @rundisney virtual 10k....and then had to get another injection. Through all this I had @bethjnicely and @thelimitfit on my side to help keep training and I was able to run a 10k, with barely any walking time and @coachbennett in my ear. I’m really proud of myself. I felt stronger than I ever have when I stepped foot back inside my house after this. When I get back from this next surgery I’m planning to come back even better than before. This is me status post 13.1 long and hilly miles at the Mount Desert Island Half Marathon in Acadia, Maine in October. . Immediately following this (okay, let's be honest during my training and even during the half itself) I swore off ever doing another half or even running again. The half was hard (okay maybe I didn't train properly) and my legs were sore for days. . But to all you crazy runners who cheered me on and told me I'd want to do another one and I told you you were insane.... . Apparently I drank the kool-aid. 🙈🙊 . After completing the 2017 @chimarathon and qualifying for the @bostonmarathon my then girlfriend and now wife, @pineapple.yogi greeted me with a big smile and hug and asked “so, what does this mean?” Exhausted but still able to stand I said, “This means I’m going to Boston!” “Oh, I want to go.” “Yes, please come cheer me on!” She clarified, “No, I want to run it with you.” I tried to explain, “You have to run a marathon first and complete it within the qualifying time...” “Okay.
