Great training session today! Went for 130x5, and it felt so smooth that I decided to try for a #jokerset of 145x5. The result? It went up a hell of a lot smoother than it has in a long time, as you can see here. If there's one piece I could offer in terms of the #benchpress, it's to think about pushing back against the bench during the ascension as opposed to focusing on pushing the bar up. Your #triceps are the #primarymover in the bench, but you don't want them to do all the work either. Hello, and welcome to the latest installment if my short series on lower body self release! Today we take a look at the adductor muscles, also known as the inner thigh. Chances are the general public completely ignore this area while stretching, and they should. Tight #adductors make for #tighthips and that's especially detrimental when squatting. But of course this can be resolved with #selfmyofascialrelease. Simply place your #foamroller under your chosen adductor with your elbows out front, and roll back and forth in a controlled manner 8 - 10 times. I may have out of the gym for a month, but that hasn't stopped me from training. Here's a small, #fullbodyworkout I've been doing most days. I warmed up by #foamrolling and #dynamicstretching. Here is a set of #bodyweightsquats for 50, a #resistancebandcomplex with three pull apart variations and #bandeddislocations, two sets of pushups for 25 (not filmed) and 10, and a set of #planks for about 40 seconds. Another one bites the dust! Back to 400lbs as of last night, albeit just for a single this time around. It's fine, as it did go up smoother than I had anticipated. Quality over quantity, NEVER forget that. Also included here is my #lightbenchpress of 95x5x5. Tip for #longarmedbenchers: never extend your arms while performing your sets, at least not until you're ready to rack the bar. Us lanky lifters have far more #rangeofmotion than most but it's our enemy here. Extend your arms completely will result in loss of tension in the #pecs and we want to keep it. It'll also result in getting tired sooner due to working harder than necessary. I try to extend my arms at most 3/4 of the way. Upon preparing for his first ever 60lb #benchpress, @ace.elite.33 placed his hands on the bar right at the end of the knurling, and then moved both hands an entire space down. What this did for him was provide him with a proper, #shoulderwidth grip as well as #forearms that are now vertical to the floor. This is the safest, most effective way to bench as the vertical forearms can now help build the right amount of #forcetransfer. Also, if he were to go with a wider grip, it would increase the lateral distance between the hands and #shoulders, making this more challenging on the #pecs. Day 3 of my current experiment in #powerbodybuilding, which if successful will be aimed at all you #intermediatelifters, #lankylifters and #hardgainers out there.
