#Repost @beingtea (@get_repost) ・・・ hey, new followers lately - welcome! it occurred to me i've never done an "introduction" post, so here we go! -- 1) i'm suzette (sooz), Being Tea is my company of one, and i am a tea trainer, educator and project consultant. i teach on location, nationally and internationally, and now also online through patreon. my assignments can sometimes get really weird. -- 2) my absolute favorite topic to train on is professional tasting (cupping), because this stuff can get really deep. it informs, makes connections, becomes a foundation of practice, and in its own way, i believe it heals. i've taught cupping skills workshops, beginning and advanced, at tea festivals for over a decade, and i make every single class different. i plot them all year long, haha! -- 3) i've worked in tea professionally as an educator, full time, for 15 years. i received one of the biggest honors of my career this year, winning the World Tea Award for Best Tea Educator. -- 4) i've often been told one of my most distinctive/memorable features is my huge laugh. 5) and my sometimes charming, sometimes defiant hair. -- 6) @jonathanlamantia is my pea-in-a-pod partner of over 16 years. he's an artist, illustrator of creepy, weird, moody horror. -- 7) oh, hello! this is a luff. we keep a herd of plush buffalo as pets. they are "luffabo", or "luff" for short, and have a whole backstory all of their own. 8) and at least one is with me on the road, always. -- 9) i LOVE food and beverage culture. i am also exploring sobriety. i have depression and alcohol does not help. so i have been sober for over a year now. -- 10) i believe in tea for supporting mental health, and am developing a program called Tea Mindfulness Therapy. i teach courses in this online and in studios, including Tea Meditation + Journaling, and Tea Ceremony, Deconstructed. -- ✨THANK YOU✨ for your support and for letting me share a little backstory here 🙏🍵 . . . #beingtea #livemoretea #tea #introductionfriday #tealife #meettheteacher #introduction #teaeducation #luff #sobriety #healthyliving #selfcare #workfromhome #timefortea #selfemployedlife #freelance #teatraining #cupping #patreon #greentea #chi (at Chicago, Illinois) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnudhALBMlj/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=hl9toid90w2r

Picture taken after @beingtea’s session on Matcha 🍵 green tea. I used @tecentralen’s Zenmi™️ Pinnacle ceremonial grade matcha from Kagoshima in Japan 🇯🇵. Also in the photo: MAOCI (“Modern Art of Cast Iron”) Matcha tea set with a tea bowl (chawan), bamboo whisk (chasen), bamboo tea scoop (chashaku), and chasen holder (kusenaoshi). I took notes 📝 with @uni_mitsubishi_pencil 9800 HB pencil ✏️ in @berlin.notebook with @herrpongberlin notebook 📓 cover. I will purchase a special tea strainer (furui) so I can sift the green matcha 🍵 tea powder. Yesterday I used a regular strainer. Darjeeling tea, second flush (summer) from Avongrove DJ 54 plantation. Grade: FTGFOP1 Muscatel. I brewed the tea 🫖 for 4 minutes. I will continue my tea journey by learning from @beingtea, @teacurious, @readeighty, and others, including my co-host of @produktiviteet, @jgustaphzon. I've been in a tough headspace on a lot of things lately. This piece, like a lot a lot of the pieces I spend more than a few hours on, was a bit cathartic. Honestly, I've had some deep depression, it's not a new thing, but management the past few months has been rough. One of the harder aspects -one that I hadn't given enough attention to is how it made me feel disconnected from things that used to be very important to me. I have a lot of reasons why I don't do that much fan art, but one of the big things has been that lacking connection to the characters and stories. It's harder to get excited about spending a few days working on something if I'm not interested in it. That's kinda why I dig doing commissions, I get to imagine how excited the client is about a character, and I love being part of that experience -but when it's just me, well -that's tough. Anyway, this one, Pumpkinhead, this film meant a great deal to me growing up. It was one of the films that I saw just at the right time to make it seem like being a monster-maker could be a viable career opportunity -and I just loved everything about the film! There was a timeless quality to it, while I enjoyed thoroughly the horror films that were seeped in 80s/90s culture, Pumpkinhead, for me, stood as a film outside of time -that feeling was something I know I've always been chasing with my own work. --so, fast-forward to last week, and I'm in a mood, not feeling anything about anything and I have a great talk with @beingtea about all my reasons about why I don't do fan art. I land on the realization that I probably need to work something out, 'cause if I don't, that disconnected feeling will cauterize and I'll find it harder to connect with so much more than just media. -I also needed to do something for the upcoming @printsploitation, so I figured I would use that opportunity to spend some time finding my way back to what I loved about Pumpkinhead. I'm always a work in progress, but I feel good about this particular work -on all sides.
