Düsseldorf: Ich versuche ja seit Jahr und Tag hinzuziehen, aber da ich extravagante Hobbies habe (drinnen schlafen und zwei-drei Mahlzeiten am Tag) - berufsbedingt nie was geworden. Was ich bisher als Tourist, der immer nur zwei Wochen i Jahr bei Freunden ist, festgestellt habe: Ganz ehrlich, die Leute sind super nett und hilfreich. Little Tokyo ist super (ich empfehle es wärmstens, da mal im Supermarkt ein Mittagessen zu holen). Dann gibt's auch Schlösser (sehr hübsch), z.B. in Benrath ein wunderbares rosa Teil, das Barbie bisher nicht lizensiert hat. Ganz abgesehen davon - Veranstaltungsprogramm, LGBTQ*-Gruppen (ok, von Köln aus nicht spektakulär, von Bayern aus sehr), Innenstadt, die man gut erlaufen kann. Persönlich auch großer Fan der Stadtbibliothek.

The entirety of Germany can be divided by a whole bunch of lines showing how far and to how many words the High German consonant shift has impacted local dialects, so e.g. The Benrather Linie, or maken/machen-Linie divides Germany into two parts, to the north dialects still use the /k/-sound like in English for the word, while to the south of it, they use the standard german /x/-sound instead. And you can draw a line like this for basically all the words that were effected by the consonant shift.
