The story of my first LDR

Hola,

I'm in the right mood to write right now, so here's my LDR story with my boyfriend.

First of all, my name is Desy and my boyfriend is Omar. I'm 27 and he's 41 (yeah, we have 14 years age gap and 14 hours of time difference as well, I live in Jakarta, Indonesia and Omar lives in Oakland, California).

We met in Tinder back in April 2019. I was using Tinder Gold to see who likes my profile, and he was using it maybe to match with girls from other country.

At first, Omar was really not my type 😅 I was about to swipe him left, but then my heart says like "swipe him right, he might be a good guy", so I swiped him right and the conversation started after he said "Hi, how are you?".

A few days later, we started to exchange messages through Whatsapp, hopefully we could know each other better.

Omar is a nice guy, he's a nerd but I still find him attractive by the way he gives me comfort & warmth, he likes to play with his nephew and that attracts me more.

To be honest, I was trying several times to give up on him because of the distance, but I just couldn't, I found myself always miss him so much, and ended up going back to him.

So I'll just try to fight for this relationship ...

Until one day of July,

I got an idea to surprise Omar for his birthday (no, I'm not going to fly to California). His birthday is August 21st, so I was thinking to order cake online to be delivered to his home on his birthday.

I searched bakeries nearby his home and found Angel Cupcakes, so I sent an email to them regarding the cake I want to give Omar and asked if they could make it dairy-free because Omar is a lactose-intolerant, and luckily they could. So I processed all the payment and just waiting so excited until the day comes.

Not forget about the wishes, I wrote a full page of letter and scan it to the bakery, asked them a favor to print it and give it to Omar with the cake.

Then Omar birthday comes,

He didn't expect it that I will send him a cake (with a letter) and he ate the whole cake by himself, Omar loves sweets and the way he ate the cake is cute beyond words!

Nowadays, we have the happiest days.

I hope I could meet Omar real soon, the day I could finally hug him, kiss him, and whisper a sincere "i love you" for him.

OMG I'm crying while writing this, I miss him so much ❤️

I'll write another story after I met Omar for the first time, wish the best for us, okay ? 😁

Celebrating the 11th birthday, Zomato holds a social movement to provide good and delicious food to people in need. This movement was held on Saturday (June 6, 2019) by involving 60 volunteers from Zomato and collaborating with FoodCycle Indonesia.

Donating 3000+ food to several places such as orphanages, social care institutions, nursing homes, this event was fully supported by 25 restaurants and 2 sponsors; PrintYuk and inPACK. This event is expected to be a contribution from Zomato and restaurant to the hunger issue to support the motto of Zomato "better food for more people".

In #Z11, 25 restaurants donate their best fresh food to be served to people in need on the same day. The enthusiasm from them was very shown in their happiness while eating good food from the following restaurants; Hanamasa, Holland Bakery, Warunk Upnormal, Mangia, Cyrano cafe, Eatz, Alahap, Ostin, Rica rodo, Onni house, Cacamarica, Serasi by Pakis Culinary, Alkisah, Orvia, Sabi Wok, Menteng Hawkers, Mantra Indonesia, Chop Buntut Cak Yo, Organeed restaurant, D'Rempah cafe & restaurant, Rasa Betawi, Pajajaran Tomyum, Kohicha cafe, Terroir Coffee & Eats, and Teras rumah nenek.

To add more happiness atmosphere, volunteers also filled some activities such as singing & playing together. In fact, in some places, the kids sing happy birthday songs and pray for Zomato to be more successful in the future.

Jakarta selalu punya hidden gem..apalagi soal makanan ! 💕 One day trip kali ini mencoba makanan yang viral di Blok M! Katanya kalau makan bakso di sini jadi punya standard sendiri buat makan bakso. Bakso Solo Samrat ini banyak cabang dan ada juga di Orderan Online. Pesen bakso urat dgn mie kuning, harganya 32K. Agak pricey tapi wajar, baksonya full daging dengan kuah kaldu sumsum yang kental. Enak dan kenyang banget ! Dan begitulah cerita hunting icip2 makanan viral. Pulang dgn pengalaman bahagia. Nothing was as it seemed: Slipping in through what appeared to be a refrigerator at the back of a traditional Chinese bakery, an elite guest list of celebrities, influencers and VIPs from around the world was soon immersed in a world of illusions. Mirrors, lights, sounds and surprises during #FourSeasonsPopDown Hong Kong captured the world’s imagination through shared images and stories, while an international cast of Four Seasons master chefs and mixologists presented savouries, sips and sweets to enchanted guests.

Grammy and Academy Award-winning songwriter, musician, producer and DJ Mark Ronson headlined the evening’s entertainment, with additional musical interludes by Hong Kong sensation Miss Yellow, lauded as one of the world’s hottest female DJs. 

The first Four Seasons Pop Down in Asia also featured world-renowned culinary artists Chan Yan Tak of Lung King Heen at Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, Guillaume Galliot of Caprice at Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, Simone Zanoni of Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris, Marshall Allen Röth of Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island, and Anchalee Luadkham of Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai.

Shaking things up with their original cocktails were Lorenzo Antinori of Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, Keith Motsi of Four Seasons Hotel Seoul, and Philip Bischoff, who is leading the bar program at the new Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River opening later this year.

Sweet indulgences were created by Yusuke Aoki of Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay, Chris Ford of Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel, and Lorenzo Sollecito of Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta.

Unexpected twists continued through food and drink, whether through a new bubbly take on Milk Tea, or in edible spa stones found in miniature doors along a mirrored wall, to a Thai spin on a traditional taco. Guests could explore culinary creations from around the world all while delighting all of their senses.

The sweet, pastel-hued décor of Four Seasons Pop Down included floral accents by renowned Tokyo-based artist Nicolai Bergmann.

For the first time ever, Michelin-Star Chef Chan Yan Tak’s pineapple pork buns can be enjoyed outside of Lung King Heen at Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong – the world’s first Cantonese restaurant to earn three Michelin stars, also just named one of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants. For two days only, a tiny storefront in Central will transform into a Four Seasons experience as Chef Chan Yan Tak serves up this signature treat along with his beloved baked cream custard puffs. They will be packaged in collectible boxes created by local illustrator Don Mak exclusively for this occasion. Doors open at 11:30 am on April 1 and 2, 2019 only. The treats are complimentary. Enjoy while they last!

Kala Kopi, Kue, dan Roti Bersatu dalam Kelezatan

Liputanviral - Budaya kopi tengah naik daun dan jadi sensasi di kalangan warga ibu kota. Tak pelak, fenomena ini ditangkap sebagai peluang bisnis oleh berbagai pihak, termasuk pasangan suami istri Dawn Wee dan Damien Koh. Dua pengusaha yang telah sembilan tahun menghidupi usaha kafe Joe & Dough di Singapura ini akhirnya 'go international' dengan membuka gerainya di Jakarta, Indonesia. 'Joe', dalam bahasa Inggris, merujuk pada sebutan secangkir kopi atau 'a cup of joe'. Sedangkan 'dough' mengacu pada sajian roti dan kue yang jadi kawan minum kopi. "Ini jadi cara Anda mendapatkan kopi yang enak dan roti berkualitas dalam satu tempat. Anda bisa mengistirahatkan kaki yang lelah setelah jalan-jalan, bisa rileks," ujar Wee saat ditemui di Joe & Dough, Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta, beberapa waktu lalu. Kopi bukan barang baru di Jakarta. Mau tak mau mereka kudu berhadapan dengan kafe atau kedai kopi yang hadir lebih dulu dengan ragam inovasi demi menarik pelanggan. Untuk mendapatkan cita rasa kopi yang diinginkan, Koh menggunakan biji-biji kopi asli Indonesia. Untuk houseblend coffee, Koh meracik tiga jenis biji kopi dari Sumatera, Jawa Barat, dan Toraja. Konsep yang satu ini agak berbeda dengan kafe-kafe yang telah dimilikinya di Singapura. Di sana dia menggunakan biji-biji kopi dari Etiopia, Kolumbia, serta negara-negara penghasil kopi lain. "Saya ingin rasa yang nutty, dark chocolate dan sedikit fruity," kata Koh.

Jika ingin mencicipi kopi yang unik, pengunjung bisa mencoba menu JD Cookie Cup. Menu ini merupakan kopi yang disajikan dalam cangkir yang terbuat dari kukis atau sejenis roti yang cukup keras. Kopi disajikan dalam satu nampan mini bersama marshmallow panggang. Kopi memiliki rasa dominan pahit. Anda bisa mengimbanginya dengan marshmallow yang manis. Namun, tunggu dulu. Saat bibir bersentuhan dengan cangkir, rasa manis cokelat leleh yang melapisi cangkir akan membuat rasa kopi semakin kaya. Sebagai saran, Anda tak perlu memesan kudapan lain karena cangkir ini bisa disantap dan cukup membuat kenyang sebab teksturnya yang padat. Jika ingin mencicip menu utama, Joe & Dough memiliki menu andalan berupa Short Ribs Mac and Triple Cheese. Keistimewaan menu ini terletak pada daging iga sapi. Menggunakan teknik slow cooked selama 24 jam, daging terasa empuk saat digigit. Rasa manis gurih daging bertemu dengan rasa asin gurih campuran pasta, keju mozarela, cheddar, dan parmesan.

Untuk sajian serba 'bakery', Wee dan Koh menerjemahkan 'dough' dalam beragam roti antara lain Butter Croissant, Apple Pie Cruffin, Custard Brionut, Gula Melaka Pandan, Blueberry Yoghurt Tart, dan The Ultimate Chocolate Cake. Saya merekomendasikan Anda untuk mencicip menu-menu cruffin. Cruffin merupakan perkawinan antara croissant dan muffin. Bentukan menu ini serupa muffin, tetapi saat digigit, ia terasa renyah bak croissant dan kelembutan layaknya muffin.

Sementara untuk cake, Anda perlu mencoba Gula Melaka Pandan. Cake yang satu ini diciptakan empat tahun lalu bersamaan dengan Singapore National Day. "Kami bingung mau buat apa, karena kami, kan, menjajakan kue-kue bergaya Western. Lalu, tercetus ide membuat kue tapi dengan bahan lokal," jelas Wee. Dari penampakannya, kue yang menjadi best seller ini agak mirip dengan kue lapis bercita rasa pandan. Namun, ia memiliki lapisan gula dan sedikit parutan kelapa. Cake memiliki rasa dominan manis dan sedikit gurih. Berani 'twist' dengan penganan lokal Memasuki pasar Indonesia, Wee dan Koh pun memadukan penganan lokal yang diolah ala Barat. Tengok saja pilihan menu Emping Nachos. Emping atau keripik dari buah melinjo disajikan bersama lelehan keju, buah zaitun, jagung panggang, bawang bombay, dan dua jenis saus yang bisa dipilih antara saus tartar dan saus salsa. "Kami melakukan twist dengan emping. Kami menggunakan bahan biasa, tapi disajikan dengan cara yang berbeda sehingga membuatnya lebih istimewa," ujar Wee. Di samping sajian, langkah berani juga diambil dalam hal desain kafe. Pengambilan langkah berani ini diambil Koh lantaran adanya perbedaan antara penikmat kopi di Singapura dan Indonesia. Waktu yang berjalan serba cepat di Singapura membuat budaya 'take-away' sangat menonjol. "Kopi adalah keharusan untuk membuat mereka tetap melek," ujar Koh. Berbeda dengan Indonesia, di mana budaya kopi identik dengan kebiasaan nongkrong di kedai yang nyaman. "Di sini (Indonesia), kami sangat berusaha membuat tempat senyaman mungkin dan orang bisa menikmati kopi mereka," tambah Koh. Kafe yang terletak di lantai 2 Plaza Indonesia ini menghadirkan interior yang homey. Ada pula jendela besar yang memanjakan pengunjung dengan karya mural dari Muralcon.

Meski berlokasi di sebuah mal prestisius ibu kota, Joe & Dough hadir dengan daftar harga yang cukup ramah. Setidaknya ramah untuk ukuran kebanyakan kafe yang ada di mal elite itu. Menu andalan JD Cookie Cup dibanderol dengan harga Rp55 ribu. Sedangkan pilihan minuman lain, termasuk kopi, teh, jud, mocktail, dapat diperoleh dengan kisaran harga Rp28 ribu hingga Rp55 ribu. Keramahan harga juga bisa dilihat dari aneka roti yang dibanderol pada kisaran Rp25 ribu hingga Rp55 ribu. Sementara aneka kue dijual dengan kisaran harga Rp48 ribu hingga Rp65 ribu. Menu-menu mengenyangkan pun tak lantas membuat kantong kering. Perut bisa kenyang dengan sajian menu berat yang dibanderol mulai dari Rp40 ribu hingga Rp180 ribu. "Harga kami usahakan reasonable.
