Constipation: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment
Tumblr media
Constipation is a medical ailment in which a person cannot pass bowel for at least one week or passes only a small volume of bowel in less than three occasions. Many people with this illness have stressful and sometimes embarrassing moments that interfere with their regular lives. However, many of them are unaware that they are suffering from constipation, which is a concerning fact. They will only recognize they are constipated once they have experienced the worst of its symptoms. Thus, curing this illness would already entail medical assistance, when they could have relieved it simply by modifying their diet. Constipation in newborns can be a very distressing condition, necessitating thorough evaluation by parents.
 Constipation Symptoms
Constipation is caused by a poor diet, which is exacerbated by insufficient or no exercise, as well as fecal stasis in the colon. Constipation symptoms include discomfort and pain when passing hardened stool, a firm and swollen abdomen, and a decrease in the desire to defecate. A change in diet can often alleviate constipation. However, there are several circumstances in which people suffering from constipation require medical attention. A laxative is a typical drug used to treat constipation. It is either orally or through suppository.
 Constipation Causes
Constipation is caused by two factors: poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle with little exercise. Those who consume foods with little fiber content are more likely to become constipated. Whole grains, vegetables, and fruits including papaya, mango, and oranges are high in fiber. These foods are advised for people who enjoy eating foods high in fat. Although babies are not constipated by nature, the shift from breastfeeding to bottle or formula feeding may cause constipation. Because including fiber-rich foods in new-borns’ diets is not a good way to treat constipation, parents must watch their babies' elimination process. Measures for treating constipation differ across age groups, necessitating specialized treatment or management.
Constipation can also be caused by a lack of fluids. Water consumption includes not only drinking eight glasses of water each day, but also including juices in our regular drinks. However, we must be cautious about the liquids we consume because some, such as milk drinks and sodas, might promote constipation. The most prevalent cause of constipation in babies is a formula-fed diet with insufficient or no fluid consumption. Increasing the amount of liquids in the babies' diet may help with constipation. In addition, infants and adults who abuse multiple drugs, such as laxatives or purgatives, may develop constipation and become reliant on these prescriptions. When a child has trouble passing stool for one week, parents are advised to seek medical attention because this may indicate a more serious condition that requires immediate treatment.
Constipation can also be caused by medical issues. Constipation can be caused by Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which causes periods of loose and normal stools as well as persistent abdominal pain. This condition is most common in infants aged 6 months to 3 years. Other colon issues, such as Hirschsprung's disease or a ganglionic mega colon, can cause constipation. Adults who are immobile or have back injuries or strokes may have constipation. This intestinal issue can also be caused by diseases such as Lupus and Diabetes. If facing any problem related to Constipation issues Contact the best gastroenterologist in Gurgaon and book an appointment.
 Constipation Treatment
As previously said, the best treatment or remedy for constipation is a change in diet. Constipation can be relieved by including fiber-rich foods in one's diet. Increasing the amount of liquid in an infant's food will assist parents in preventing their children from developing this painful ailment. A visit to a family physician may assist parents in determining whether their babies are constipated, and appropriate remedies will be implemented. A change in lifestyle, such as adding isometric workouts like swimming and jogging, may aid adults' digestion and bowel disposal. Constipation can cause discomfort and even shame, but with a right diet and lifestyle, one can regulate and even prevent constipation from occurring or repeating.  Piles can be cured with medicine in the initial stage itself. In addition, the doctor may recommend a healthy, high-fiber diet and drinking plenty of water every day. Cool water and ice packs provide immediate but temporary relief from pain. Piles can be cured permanently with normal surgery or laser surgery. Hemorrhoid surgery is done to get rid of piles. General anesthesia or spinal anesthesia is given before surgery. An incision is made in the tissue near the hemorrhoid. The bleeding is stopped by tying off the swollen vein inside the piles and the piles is taken out.
On the other hand, laser surgery by General Surgery in Gurgaon is even less invasive as no tissue is required to be cut. The affected area is treated with laser energy in a focused and precise manner, and the problem is resolved within minutes. Patients can resume their work immediately after surgery. A laser hemorrhoidoplasty procedure is better than a traditional open surgical hemorrhoidectomy.
Laser fissure ,Fistula treatment Surgeon, Laser fissure, Fistula treatment Surgeon In Ahmedabad,Gujarat
Fissure treatment relaxes the anal sphincter to support rapid healing, allowing the passage of softer stools. In the case of an acute fissure, doctors recommend taking mild medication and eating a nutritious, fiber-rich diet along with plenty of water and other healthy fluids to help you recover. A patient with acute fissure requires a surgical procedure. Open surgery for fissure is painful and takes a long time to heal. Thus the best treatment for fissure is laser surgery, which takes half an hour to heal the fissure permanently and painlessly.

Why Does Cancer Cause Pain? - Removemypain
Tumblr media
Sources of pain in cancer may not be easy to identify and often require detailed assessment with attention to detail. Identification of the source often holds the key to correct treatment and the ability to provide relief. Pain in cancer may originate from
Cancer itself – When cancer grows it damages the tissues. It causes inflammation, unusual stretching, irritation and all this can lead to pain. Like if we talk about pancreatic cancer, when it grows or stretches it can irritate the diaphragm (main breathing muscle), and that cause shoulder pain
Cancer spread – when cancer grows uncontrollably then it can spread to the nearby or distant body parts like the bone, liver, kidney, lymph nodes, etc.
Associated problems like bloating, constipation, blockage of ducts, clotting problems, distention of liver or abdomen, etc.
Cancer treatments like radiotherapy or chemotherapy are known to cause nerve pain (peripheral neuropathy. Surgery may also be associated with chronic persistent pain.
Extra stress on other body parts – Often to protect one part of our body, we put pressure on other parts for example using crutches to offload a leg may become the source of shoulder pain as the crutches place extra load on my shoulder
Other coincidental problems – it is not necessary that all pain that every cancer patient suffers is due to cancer. There could be other coincidental problems in the general population such as arthritis. So it is important to identify not only the type of pain but also the source of pain before we plan treatment.
Pain-related to cancer may have different components such as background pain and breakthrough pain. These need to be taken into account while making treatment plans. Let’s take an example of pain due to pancreatic cancer. These patients may have constant pain (background pain) and there may be increased pain that comes after eating (breakthrough pain). Breakthrough pain may happen due to provoked or unprovoked factors and when we make a treatment plan it is important to have a plan for breakthrough pain.

Pancreatic Cancer Pain Management Coeliac Plexus & Splanchnic Nerve Blocks
What causes pain in pancreatic cancer?
One of the common presenting complaints of cancer is pain. Often pain is the reason behind a series of investigations culminating in the eventual diagnosis. Nearly 75% of pancreatic cancer patients suffer from pain at the time of diagnosis and these increases to over 90% in advanced stages.
The pain may be moderate to severe with adverse effect on quality of life, functional ability and mood. Most patients complain of intermittent or constant, deep pain in the upper part of tummy just below the ribcage. It may be squeezing, cramping, sharp, burning or aching in character. Pain is often more on the left and can spread towards the back. It is often aggravated by oral intake of fluids or solids.
Pain management in pancreatic cancer can be challenging because of the aggressive nature of the disease. There is evidence supporting earlier treatment of pain, so it’s better to seek help early.
Pain in cancer may be related to
Cancer itself due to
Increased pressure or the blockage of pancreatic ducts
Inflammation of the pancreas /nearby areas
Pressure/ spread to the neighbouring structures such as
Nerves (in approximately 70–90% of cases)
Blockage of the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine) impeding the flow of food
Liver
Bowel or peritoneum (inner covering of the tummy)
Bone (not very common)
Other associated problems such as constipation and digestion issues
Distension of abdomen due to increased fluid (ascites)
Irritation of diaphragm leading to the shoulder pain
Side effect of treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery (as in peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage) /enteritis)
An unrelated coincidental problem such as arthritis of joints of the spine
What are Splanchnic nerves and Coeliac plexus?
Coeliac plexus is a network of nerves located in upper part of tummy (abdomen) just behind the pancreas. It lies deep in the tummy in front of spine and around a big blood vessel called aorta. This network of nerves plays an important role in sending messages from the upper abdominal organs to the brain.
Splanchnic nerves are a group of nerves located on both sides of the spine. They are closely related to the Coeliac ganglion and carry pain information from organs in your abdomen to the brain.
What kinds of procedures are performed to reduce pain in pancreatic cancer and how can they help?
The below mentioned procedures are utilised not only for pancreatic cancer but also for other upper abdominal cancers such as those of liver, gall bladder, stomach, some parts of intestine. These can also help in some non-cancer pains such as in chronic pancreatitis.
These procedures may not be a permanent cure for the pain but have the potential to offer significant & lasting relief. Nerve blocks work well for some people, but they don’t work for everyone and may take some time to show the full effects.
These procedures can be classified as
Diagnostic blocks– Blocking the coeliac plexus of the splanchnic nerves involves injecting local anaesthetic with or without steroids around these nerves to interrupt the pain signals being sent to the brain. This can reduce the pain one perceives and help in predicting if other procedures such as neurolysis will work or not.
Neurolytic blocks– these procedures involve use of chemicals such as alcohol / phenol to achieve prolonged interruption of pain signals being transmitted by nerves.
Radiofrequency procedures for splanchnic nerves– these procedures utilise radiofrequency energy to heat the needle tip which in turn reduces the pain signals being transmitted to the brain.
Which intervention and approach is most suitable for a patient will depend on individual factors such as the extent of disease, concomitant problems such as breathing issues or ascites, ability to lie on the tummy/ back etc. Sometimes multidisciplinary review is required (such as reviewing the scans with radiologists) for deciding on the most suitable option.
Depending on the approach chosen the procedure may require for the patient to lie on their back or tummy for a period of approximately 45 min to an hour. A guiding modality is used to accurately place the needles close to the target nerves. This may include
X Ray (Fluoroscopy) guidance
Ultrasound guidance
CT guidance
Endoscopic guidance
OR a combination of above mentioned modalities
Once the needles are in the correct place a dye may be used to assess how the medications would spread and to confirm the accurate placement of needles. An attempt is then made to reduce the pain signals being transmitted by these nerves via radiofrequency or drugs.
How much pain relief can be expected after the procedure and for how long will it last for?
The pain relief after the injection can vary depending on the cause of pain, location and extent of disease. In some studies it has been observed that the outcomes are better if the block is performed soon after the onset of pain asin advanced disease large tumours can act as mechanical barrier preventing the spread of the drugs hence achieving only partial relief.
These procedures have the potential of reducing the pain and the medication requirement for medium term. Overall, 70%–80% of patients undergoing these procedures report decreased pain for 1–6 months.
What are the risks of having these procedures?
No intervention is risk free. The decision to perform or not perform an intervention is taken by evaluating the risk/benefit ratio. The risks will vary depending on the intervention chosen and the patient’s medical issues. When performing these procedures, precautions are taken to reduce the risks as much as possible such as performing the procedure under guidance (x-ray, ultrasound, CT etc), use of contrast (dye) to assess the spread of medications and use of electrical stimulation in radiofrequency procedures etc.
Common side effects of these procedures include local pain (96%), lowering of blood pressure (10%) and loose stools (44%). Fortunately most of the common side effects are short lasting.
Some of the risks can be serious. Studies have reported the risk of serious adverse events as approximately 2%. It is best to discuss these with your treating doctor as the list of these can be long and vary with the intervention chosen.
What else can be done to reduce the pain?
Painkillers Medications
Different types of pain killers can be used based on the type of pain and other medical problems. Often the painkillers dose needs to be changed or new ones need to be added as the disease changes.
Morphine and Morphine like drugs (collectively known as Opioids) are one of the strongest pain killers. Other drugs in this class include fentanyl and oxycodone. These painkillers can be given by different routes lincluding orally, intravenously (directly into the veins), subcutaneously (below the skin) or as patches. Oral medications also come in a slow release form which provide more consistent pain relieve throughout the day. These drugs have often been in the limelight due to the wrong reasons such as addiction/ abuse potential and hence the social taboos associated with their use. Patients often do a disservice to themselves by harbouring preconceived notions and putting up barriers. It is important that you openly discuss any such issues with your Pain Specialist.
Other types of pain may require different class of pain killers such as anti-inflammatories for pain due to inflammation, neuropathic medications such as gabapentin and pregabalin for nerve type of pain etc.
As with any other medication there are side effects associated with all these medications and these can be dealt with in most cases by patient education, pre-emptive action, use of medications and lifestyle modification.
Pain control in cancer is not just about medications or injections… there is more to it. To achieve a satisfactory control it often requires addressing the concomitant factors which can serve to enhance the pain experienced. For example
Relationship between one’s emotional state such as low mood /anxiety and pain is well known. These factors can magnify the perceived pain and hence addressing them is important. Relaxation therapies such as meditation, mindfulness may help in managing thoughts, coping with feelings and produce a calming effect.
Abdominal and back pain worsen with coexisting problems like constipation and abdominal distension and hence the importance of addressing these.
Refractory end of life pain can be dealt by delivering pain killers directly into the spine by using intrathecal/ epidural route.

Endometriosis and Adenomyosis | Find Answers To All Your Questions
Did you know that at present over 25 million women in India suffer from Endometriosis?  Even though this condition is so widespread, women often know little to nothing about it due to the widespread taboo surrounding women's reproductive health. In recent times, we are seeing an increase in awareness regarding endometriosis thanks to the voice and importance given to reproductive health, sadly however endometriosis remains a matter of shame. In this article, we will talk about everything you need to know about endometriosis and adenomyosis, its symptoms, and things to keep in mind.
Tumblr media
Do You Know What Endometriosis and Adenomyosis are?
Endometriosis is a chronic condition wherein a particular tissue, originally present in the uterus known as the endometrium lining starts to exhibit unusual patterns and grow over the ovaries, vagina, and even the rectum. Endometriosis is the growth of endometrium outside the uterine cavity or myometrium (endometriotic implants), usually in the peritoneal cavity. This condition can be extremely painful for women with symptoms such as cramping, painful sexual intercourse, and so on.
Endometriosis may occur in four stages based on the severity. Stage I is where it is minimal with the implants being shallow. Stage II is mild with implants being a little deeper. Stage III is moderate where there might even be endometrial cysts and finally, Stage IV might show large cysts and dense adhesions.
 Adenomyosis
Similar to endometriosis, in Adenomyosis, the endometrium lining grows to be thick within the uterus and can break through the muscle wall of the uterus causing heavy bleeding, cramping, and so on.
Understanding The Difference: Endometriosis & Adenomyosis
Although by the face of it the two conditions may appear to be the same, they are different.  In endometriosis, the lining found in the uterus starts to grow outside of it along with the ovaries, rectum, and so on whereas in adenomyosis on the other hand in adenomyosis the lining grows into the muscular wall of the uterus.
Knowing The Symptoms
In a lot of cases, the presence of Endometriosis and Adenomyosis may go unnoticed but by keeping yourself aware of the preliminary symptom, you will be able to detect it at the earliest. Given below are some of the most frequently experienced symptoms of endometriosis
Chronic abdomen pain
Irregular menstrual cycle
Pain during penetration
Nausea and Constipation
Heavy bleeding
Infertility
 Adenomyosis
Most of the symptoms of Adenomyosis are similar to endometriosis, the most common being
Irregular menstruation
Heavy bleeding and occasional spotting
Blood clots during menstruation
Painful sexual intercourse
Abdominal pain
Getting Pregnant with Endometriosis and Adenomyosis - Possible?
Contrary to common belief, you can get pregnant even if you have endometriosis and adenomyosis. As already seen from the symptoms, (How To Improve Fertility Naturally in Female) infertility can arise as a result of the condition as the lining growth tends to affect the ovaries. As we are already aware, for conception to take place the egg needs to travel from the ovaries via the fallopian tubes to the uterus where it can fertilize. However, with endometriosis or adenomyosis that causes inflation, there is a high risk of damage to the egg or sperm and additionally, an egg may not be able to successfully travel via the fallopian tubes. This may cause difficulties while trying to get pregnant.
It is no doubt that endometriosis and adenomyosis can cause difficulties while trying to conceive, however, it is not impossible. Although there is no clear cut treatment for the condition, progesterone intake can help. Lifestyle changes aimed at reducing inflammation can also help increase the chances of conception. At Fertility Dost, our range of programs is aimed at helping women overcome issues such as PCOS, endometriosis via a holistic approach.
A clean diet combined with physical activity and maintaining a healthy weight can help you manage the symptoms and help with conception. Thanks to technological advancements, there are several options for women who are unable to conceive naturally such as getting a surrogate or The Chances for IVF Pregnancy Success or mini IVF.  With a good amount of planning, you too will be able to conceive, it is best to consider and discuss all options with your doctor.
 Thinking Of Alternatives
As already discussed, women are at higher risks of miscarriage while going in for a natural pregnancy however this does not mean that you will not be able to conceive. There are several alternatives to choose from that will help you conceive if you suffer from endometriosis or adenomyosis. Some of the common options include:
 In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
IVF is perhaps one of the most popular techniques to help with conception. Best IVF Treatment Clinic in India improves the chance of fertilization and is especially beneficial for women with stage 3 or 4 of endometriosis or women above the age of 35.  Best IVF Center in Gurgaon and Best IVF Doctor in Bangalore success rates might be higher for women with endometriosis as opposed to natural pregnancy and can be considered as a viable option.
 Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
Similar to How To Conceive After IVF Pregnancy, this calls for the assistance of external factors to facilitate fertilization. In IUI, the sperm Is placed directly into the uterus which can prevent the sperm from getting damaged as a result of the endometrium lining growth. This treatment is typically recommended for women with stage 1or 2 endometriosis.
 Looking Ahead - Treatment
Just like conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis and adenomyosis are chronic conditions that cannot be completely cured, however, there are treatment options to help manage symptoms. Please be sure to consult a doctor before considering any treatment option as everybody is different.
 Hormone Therapy
Hormonal mediation in the form of Hormonal contraceptives,  progestin therapy, and Aromatase inhibitors can all work by regulating estrogen levels in the body resulting in lesser painful and more regular menstrual cycles.
 Surgery
Surgery works by removing endometrial implants from the ovaries. This is usually opted for by women trying to conceive naturally and it might also help relieve certain symptoms such as pain and irregular cycles.
Hysterectomy and removal of the ovaries
Removal of the uterus (Hysterectomy) along with the removal of ovaries can help women with pain. Removal of the ovaries automatically results in menopause. Removal of the uterus can help treat symptoms such as cramping and abdominal pain.
There are several treatment options that may or may not be viable for you, it is best to consult a doctor before taking any decision. Do not self-prescribe treatments as they might have adverse effects.
Fertility Dost is India’s leading platform for infertility. Our range of programs offers a holistic approach to all your problems via Fertility Nutrition, yoga, Fertility Ayurveda, and emotional wellness. Why Uterine Prolapse Occur? How Uterine Prolapse Treated?
If normal uterine prolapse is combined, then uterine means uterus, and prolapse means downward movement. In the event of uterine prolapse, the uterus comes down to the wall of the vagina and uterus coming down is not good.
 Why Does Uterine Prolapse Occur?
Uterine prolapse occurs when the pelvic floor muscles and ligaments start to weaken and they stop supporting the uterus, then the uterus comes down. In some women, the uterus comes out of the vagina. The most common disease occurring in women 55 years or older is uterine prolapse.
How Many Stages Does Uterine Prolapse Occur?
There are two types of uterine prolapse.
  1. Incomplete uterine prolapse
The uterus comes to the vagina but does not come out of the vagina, which is called the incomplete uterine prolapse.
 2. Complete uterine prolapse
When a part of the uterus comes out of the vagina, such a condition is called complete uterine prolapse.  How near does the uterus come to the vagina? It is decided by grade.
First Grade - Cervix falls into the vagina, which is called the first grade of uterine prolapse.
Second grade - Cervix reaches the upper part of the vagina.
Third grade - Cervix enters the outer part of the vagina.
Fourth grade - The entire uterus comes out of the vagina.
Fourth grade of the patient's condition is severe, surgery may be required. However, if information about uterine prolapse is found quickly, it can be corrected with the help of exercise.
What Are The Symptoms Of Uterine Prolapse?
There may be the following symptoms of Uterus coming towards the vagina like-
 ●        Feeling of heaviness or stretch in pelvis.
●        Increased bleeding or vaginal discharge from the vagina.
●        Feeling disturbed during sexual intercourse.
●        Urinary leakage or infection in the bladder.
●        Having constipation problems.
●        Lower back pain.
●        Uterus coming out of the vagina while coughing.
●        Feel the uterus coming out of the vagina.
●        Vaginal tissue weakening.
Information on uterine prolapse in the early days cannot be found.  Sometimes it is known to come down to the uterus after trouble increases.
What Are The Causes Of Uterine Prolapse?
The uterus coming down from its place can be due to the following reasons. Like-
 ●        Pregnancy
●        Uterus can also come down due to baby delivery. This can happen when the baby's size is more than normal during delivery.
●        Older woman's age. This can also happen especially during menopause.
●        Lifting excessively heavy goods.
●        Having trouble while passing stool.
●        Chronic cough.
●        Pelvis surgery.
●        Genetic causes such as the weakening of connective tissues.
 How Is Uterine Prolapse Diagnosed?
If you are looking for its diagnosis in Gugaon then Dr. Chetna Jain, best ladies specialist doctor in Gurgaon may ask you about symptoms and can also follow some physical checkups. Ultrasound or MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) can be done to recognize the grade in which the uterine prolapse is in.
 How Is Uterine Prolapse Treated?
Uterine prolapse can be easily treated when it reaches a third-degree but, after third grade, surgical treatment is required.
There are two options for treatment:
  1. Vaginal pessary
A vaginal pessary is a device with the help of which the position of the uterus is fixed. After this process, one needs to take care. If the condition of prolapse worsens, it may be due to irritation, ulceration, and sexual problems. Therefore, if you feel discomfort after vaginal pessary, contact the doctor.
  2. Surgery
Surgery is done in the lower abdomen (vagina) to correct the prolapsed uterus. In this, the uterus is placed in its place using skin grafting, donor tissue, or other material. On the other hand, if there is a possibility of baby planning in the future, then surgery cannot be done in such a situation.

BEST HERNIA SURGERY - LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY OR AN OPEN SURGERY?
A hernia is a weakness or tear in the abdominal muscles that occurs when the contents that are usually the portions of intestine or abdominal fatty tissue known as omentum bulge coming out of the membrane where they are normally contained through a weak spot in a connective tissue or surrounding muscle. If you are searching for the best hernia surgeon in Gurgaon, you could seek help from Dr. Vikas Singhal. He is an experienced hernia surgeon practicing in Gurgaon. He suggests that most of the hernias occur around the genitalia and in the lower abdomen, especially in men. Men are more prone to inguinal hernias as compared to the women because of basic differences in their anatomy.
There are many other symptoms as well, such as:-
1. Swelling or bulge becomes painful.
2. Bulge will increase with continued coughing or straining and reduces if a person is lying down.
3. Patients may feel discomfort due to vomiting and constipation.
4. A dull aching sensation
5. A vague feeling of fullness
If a patient keeps delaying the treatment, they may get fever, sepsis, and shock with hypo-tension because of the intestines which become dead and rupture within the sac. Hernia needs treatment, it does not get better with the lapse in time, nor will it cure on its own without the treatment.
Being one of the best hernia surgeons in Gurgaon, Dr. Vikas Singhal states that people who are overweight and have a family history of hernia are at an increased risk of getting the hernia. In addition to this, chronic coughing, chronic constipation, lifting heavy weights, enlarged prostate causing straining with urination are the conditions that increase abdominal pressure and may put people at risk of having hernia.
Hernias can be treated with two types of surgery, one is open surgery and the second is laparoscopic surgery. Laparoscopic Surgery is an advanced hernia surgery and is more preferred than the previous
technique i.e. an open surgery. Following are some of the advantages of the laparoscopic surgery:
1. SMALLER INCISIONS AS COMPARED TO OPEN SURGERY
The most important benefit of laparoscopic surgery is that it leaves small incisions as compared to open surgery scars. Usually, the size of the scar depends on the size of the abdomen of the patient. The surgeon makes a few small incisions to insert the laparoscope inside the abdomen. Patients who desire to avoid long and surgical scars which are cosmetically unappealing, prefer the laparoscopic surgery.
2. THE HOSPITALIZATION PERIOD IS SHORTER AS COMPARED TO OPEN SURGICAL
PROCEDURE
For the open surgical procedure, the surgeon makes large surgical incisions. So, it  requires the patients to be hospitalized for the longer duration post-surgery so as to monitor the healing.
3. THERE ARE REDUCED RISKS AND COMPLICATIONS AS COMPARED TO OPEN SURGICAL PROCEDURE
The use of small incisions following the laparoscopic procedure allows for less blood loss, a reduced risk of infection and less injury to tissue.
4. FASTER RECOVERY WITH LESS DISCOMFORT OR PAIN
During the laparoscopic surgery, the smaller incisions lead to decreased abdominal wall pain as compared to the open surgery, the longer incision can lead to increased abdominal wall pain and a lengthened recovery time.
5. LESS EXPENSIVE AND MORE ECONOMIC BENEFITS
If you consider and add up all of the costs of surgery including doctor visits, stay at the hospital, medicines etc., it would be less expensive in case of laparoscopic surgery as compared to open surgery.
In general, hernias are asymptomatic as they may or may not produce any kind of symptoms themselves but can cause slight to severe pain which is generally unbearable. As such, it is very important to consult one of the best hernia surgeons to get relief from the pain and discomfort. An
experienced hernia surgeon like Dr. Vikas Singhal in Gurgaon, helps to give you a relief from the pain of hernia and believes in comprehensive patient care.

Nearly 75% of pancreatic cancer patients suffer from pain at the time of diagnosis and this increases to over 90% in advanced stages. It is often aggravated by oral intake of fluids or solids.Pain management in
pancreatic cancer
can be challenging because of the aggressive nature of the disease. There is evidence supporting earlier treatment of pain, so it’s better to seek help early.Pain in cancer may be related to
Cancer itself due to
Increased pressure or the blockage of pancreatic ducts
This network of nerves plays an important role in sending messages from the upper abdominal organs to the brain.Splanchnic nerves are a group of nerves located on both sides of the spine.
These procedures can be classified as
Diagnostic blocks– Blocking the coeliac plexus of the splanchnic nerves imvolves injecting local anaesthetic with or without steroids around these nerves to interrupt the pain signals being sent to the brain. This can reduce the pain one perceives and help in predicting if other procedures such as neurolysis will work or not.
Neurolytic blocks– these procedures involve use of chemicals such as alcohol / phenol to achieve prolonged interruption of pain signals being transmitted by nerves.
Radiofrequency procedures for splanchnic nerves– these procedures utilise radiofrequency energy to heat the needle tip which in turn reduces the pain signals being transmitted to th e brain.
Which intervention and approach is most suitable for a patient will depend on individual factors such as the extent of disease, concomitant problems such as breathing issues or ascites, ability to lie on the tummy/ back etc. Sometimes multidisciplinary review is required (such as reviewing the scans with radiologists) for deciding on the most suitable option.Depending on the approach chosen the procedure may require for the patient to lie on their back or tummy for a period of approximately 45 min to an hour.
The risks will vary depending on the intervention chosen and the patients medical issues. When performing these procedures, precautions are taken to reduce the risks as much as possible such as performing the procedure under guidance (x-ray, ultrasound, CT etc), use of contrast (dye) to assess the spread of medications and use of electrical stimulation in radiofrequency procedures etc.Common side effects of these procedures include local pain (96%), lowering of blood pressure (10%) and loose stools (44%).
Painkillers MedicationsDifferent types of pain killers can be used based on the type of pain and other medical problems. Often the painkillers dose needs to be changed or new ones need to be added as the disease changes.Morphine and Morphine like drugs (collectively known as Opioids) are one of the strongest pain killers. Other types of pain may require different class of pain killers such as anti-inflammatories for pain due to inflammation, neuropathic medications such as gabapentin and pregabalin for nerve type of pain etc.As with any other medication there are side effects associated with all these medications and these can be dealt with in most cases by patient education, pre-emptive action, use of medications and lifestyle modification.Pain control in cancer is not just about medications or injections… there is more to it.

The types and causes of Hernia
A hernia is the result of an organ pushing through an opening within muscle or tissue holding it in place. The condition occurs mainly in the abdomen, groin, and upper thigh areas.  Though hernias aren't immediately life-threatening, it's better to seek assistance from the best hernia surgeon in Delhi to prevent critical damage. They are dealt swiftly with surgery.
What are the different types of hernias?
Here are the different types:
1.      Hiatal hernia
It occurs in the diaphragm region. When the stomach protrudes from the diaphragm to the chest, it is called a hiatal hernia. The diaphragm is responsible for separating the chest and the stomach and ease breathing. Some symptoms include heartburn, chest pain, and a sour or bad taste in the mouth. These are frequently found in people over 50 years old.
 2.      Inguinal hernia
The most common type of hernia, an inguinal hernia occurs when the intestines push through a tear in a weak spot or tear in the lower abdominal wall.  This is found mostly among men. The most common cause for these hernias is at the time of birth. When testicles drop through the inguinal canal after birth it weakens the muscle there.
 3.      Umbilical hernia
These occur amongst children and babies. Their intestines bulge through the walls of their belly button. This bulge is noticeable, especially while the child is crying. These go away with time, by the age of 5. If not surgery is required. Adults too can get this from repeated strain on the abdomen.
4.      Incisional hernia
Also known as ventral hernia, this is the result of tissues bulging out of abdominal muscles. These hernias are visible and the size is seen when you lay down. These are commonly seen at the position of the surgical incision.
An incisional hernia is potentially acquired during any part of life, also at birth. Obesity, pregnancy, and strenuous activity are some of the common causes of ventral hernia.
 What causes a hernia?
The main contenders are muscle weakness and strain. The combination of these can develop a hernia over either a short or long period. Some other causes include:
 ●       Being overweight or obese. This puts extra pressure on the internal organs.
●       Multiple pregnancies
●       Putting continuous strain on your bowel movements due to chronic constipation
●       With age, muscles tend to weaken. This makes you susceptible to a hernia.
●       Ascites or the building up of abdominal fluid due to liver failure
●       Lifting heavy objects and strenuous exercise also result in hernias.
●       Damage as a result of surgery or injury
Before going forward with hernia surgery in Gurgaon, mention whether you have these other potential hernia causes to your doctor:
 ●       A congenital condition since birth as a result of problems in the womb
●       Premature birth or low birth weight
●       Chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder or chronic coughing problems
●       Cystic fibrosis
●       A smoking habit
●       History of hernias in the family
Hernias are excruciatingly painful when not dealt with in time. Make sure to get proper hernia treatment in Gurgaon. Stay mindful of the potential risks.

Hemorrhoids are the swollen veins at the anal opening or in the anal canal, which are very similar to the varicose veins. Chronic constipation or excessive straining during defecation might be some of the few reasons for developing piles but its main cause still remains idiopathic. A clot formation in hemorrhoids is quite painful and causes discomfort in people making their lives difficult. diagnosis for hemorrhoids is done either by the visual inspection or with the help of digital examination that includes anoscopy and rectal examination. Hemorrhoids can be prevented at large by including fibre rich food in your diet, drinking 7-8 glasses of water a day and avoiding long hours of inactivity or sitting at one place. Piles make people’s lives particularly difficult as it progresses in grade. Piles are generally of 4 grades.
Grade 1: grade 1 is the mildest of them all with no protrusion and can be treated with the help of medications and ointments.
Grade 2: grade 2 piles lies in the internal anal canal and leads to irritation and bleeding.
Grade 3: grade 3 piles are a bit more severe and protrude beyond the anal canal. This causes irritation, bleeding and the outward shift of mass during the process of defecation. Grade 3 piles need surgery for the treatment.

Bloating: Causes, Prevention, and Treatment
Tumblr media
Bloating is a common and uncomfortable condition that many people experience at some point in their lives. It's characterized by a feeling of fullness, tightness, and often distension in the abdominal area. While occasional bloating is normal, chronic or severe bloating can be disruptive to daily life. In this article, we'll explore the causes of bloating, how to prevent it, and available treatment options.
Causes of Bloating
Bloating can be triggered by a variety of factors, both dietary and non-dietary. Some common causes include:
Gas Buildup: When the digestive system produces excessive gas during the breakdown of food, it can lead to bloating. This often happens when we eat too quickly, swallow air while eating, or consume gas-producing foods like beans, broccoli, and carbonated beverages.
Constipation: Infrequent or difficult bowel movements can cause a buildup of gas and stool, leading to abdominal discomfort and bloating.
Food Sensitivities: Some individuals may be sensitive to certain foods, such as lactose or gluten, which can cause digestive disturbances and bloating.
Overeating: Consuming large meals can overwhelm the digestive system, resulting in bloating.
Gastrointestinal Disorders: Conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) can all contribute to chronic bloating.
Preventing Bloating
While occasional bloating is normal, there are steps you can take to reduce its occurrence:
Mindful Eating: Chew food slowly and avoid swallowing air to prevent excessive gas in the digestive tract.
Limit Gas-Producing Foods: Identify and reduce your consumption of foods that tend to cause gas, and monitor your tolerance for specific food types.
Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can aid digestion and help prevent constipation.
Regular Exercise: Engaging in regular physical activity can promote healthy digestion and reduce the risk of bloating.
Manage Stress: High-stress levels can exacerbate digestive issues, so practicing stress-reduction techniques like meditation or yoga can be beneficial.
Bloating Treatment
For individuals experiencing persistent or severe bloating, seeking professional help is crucial. There are various medical facilities and experts offering specialized bloating treatment services. These professionals can provide a range of diagnostic and treatment options tailored to your specific needs.
Medical Evaluation: A thorough medical assessment is essential to identify any underlying gastrointestinal disorders or food sensitivities that may be contributing to your bloating.
Dietary Guidance: Best doctors for bloating in Gurgaon can provide personalized dietary recommendations to alleviate bloating, such as tailored meal plans and food sensitivity testing.
Medication: In some cases, medication may be prescribed to manage symptoms associated with conditions like IBS or IBD, which can help reduce bloating.
Lifestyle Modifications: Experts can guide you on making lifestyle changes to reduce stress, manage your eating habits, and promote overall digestive health.
Bloating is a common issue that can have multiple underlying causes, making it essential to address it with a comprehensive approach. With the availability of bloating treatment services in Gurgaon, individuals can receive the specialized care and guidance needed to effectively manage and alleviate this discomforting condition. By understanding the causes, taking preventative measures, and seeking professional help when needed, you can take control of your digestive health and lead a more comfortable life.
