𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬 finding an obscure otome game on the internet wasn't on your 2024 bingo card, but with only the cover art and no blurb, you decided to give it a shot. it looked promising enough at the start, and nothing could go wrong, right? ✩

─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
You liked to think that you were an otome game expert. Even if it sounded… strange to the everyday person, it was your niche and who didn't have an out there hobby anyway? Supply and demand, right?
So you’d pride yourself on your extensive, and completely useless, knowledge regarding fictional pixel romance.
That was how you found yourself here, at two in the morning researching a really obscure listing of a dating game that you had never heard of before. There was no description, release date or year, and no mention of a publisher found anywhere.
A Bizarre Dating Adventure.
That was all you had to work with, the title of this so called game. There wasn't even an item picture uploaded. Spending a whopping thirty minutes gave way to absolutely nothing and you weren't going to lie, you were pretty miffed about it. A piece of so-called lost media just happened to be put on sale on a totally legitimate looking website at the grand old price of.. wait, $10?
Now you were intrigued. An otome game for that price? There was no way this was authentic when games of this nature cost upwards of $50 to $80.
With a few more clicks on your laptop, you came to find out there was free shipping included as well.
That was surely safe, you thought to yourself in your sleep deprived mind.
You faltered for a moment before closing the tab, shutting off your device and promptly collapsing onto your bed for the sleep your body craved hours ago.
Damn, you’ll feel that tomorrow.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
The following days were mundane at best, your mind drifting to the odd listing of the game. The circumstances alluded you, and during your free time, you found yourself naturally going back to it. Exploring any and every corner you could, even going on the occasional forum. You didn't get much information however, and it seemed the more you looked, the more elusive it seemed.
How was it that no one else seemed to know of this game? Surely that wasn't possible.
It became more and more tempting to just shot the odds and buy it outright and trying it yourself, but you were still apprehensive.
The website didn't do any favours for itself, looking like it hadn't been updated since 2009, and there didn't seem to be any reviews on the authentication of the site either.
You groaned, sinking back into your chair and staring at your ceiling. Closing your eyes, you cautiously rubbed at them, deep in thought as the listing displayed at attention on your screen.
With a deep inhale you leaned forward again, focused as your hand hovered over the trackpad. The inner debate followed; curiosity killed the cat…
but satisfaction brought it back.
Super sketchy website, but if you played it smart, you wouldn't need to give out too much of your personal information. Plus it was dirt cheap for what it claimed it was.
‘Fuck it’, with a click and a few taps of your keyboard filling the otherwise silent bedroom, you received a congratulatory email and in red capital letters were the words ‘SOLD’ on the now ended post.
And so, you were now the future owner of the enigmatic video game, and if you so happened to be scammed… rest in peace that ten bucks.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
You were honestly pleasantly, and weirdly, surprised at how quickly your package arrived. Didn't you just order this thing yesterday? The no bigger than A4 sized parcel sat at your doorstep in a white bubble mailer, perched upright. The keys jingled in your hand as you bent down to pick it up, purse falling forward slightly in an uncomfortable manner. Your mood was already soured from the days events, and any little inconvenience had grated you. You were about to roughly shove your bag back and open your door when you realised there was no label stuck to your package. You flipped it over, only to find the same blank space.
That's definitely not worrying at all.
You jammed the key inside your door and forced your way inside with an all too loud slam. You knew you shouldn't have trusted that damn website. Now some axe murdering lunatic knows where you live! You could feel the nerves wash over you, and your heart began to palpitate. Twisting the deadbolt lock on your door gave you some sense of security, but it did little to appease you.
Tossing your keys and bag on your coffee table, you sat into your much too old and worn out lounge as you ripped the parcel open.
Discarding the plastic wrapping, you’d clean it up later, you found that inside was a small case with what you suspected was the game. There was nothing of note on the back, no text, rating, or any other information found. Turning it over, you saw the images of various male characters decorating the cover.
These must be the leads.
You glanced over each of the men as your fingers traced their features.
Four blondes, one brunette, one with dark blue hair, another with dark purple, one with a green undercut, a redhead and at the center was a brooding character with black hair and a tipped down cap.
What an interesting cast.
You couldn't help but wonder what made the creator go for ten different routes. It wasn't like that was unheard of, but it was quite a larger cast of romantic interests. In the midst of your thoughts, you felt a chill.
Like you were being watched.
Walking over to your kitchen window you looked outside, hand still holding onto the keep case. You stayed there for a few seconds, looking at the now setting sun against the trees. The orange glow offers little warmth within your small apartment. You gaze back down at the cover art, focusing on the dark, capped character. You didn't know why, but there was something unsettling about them. The longer you looked, the more the feeling began to fester. Gently facing it down on the marble counter, you headed into your bedroom to shower and change; hopeful that a new set of clothes and washing the day's grime away would lighten your mood.
Spoiler alert, it didn't.
Clad in only a towel, you went back into the kitchen to get a drink, throat parched and getting dry. You drank the cool beverage as your eyes began to wander back to the faced down disc. You still felt unexplainably wary, but it didn't feel so bad in that moment.
Gosh, you were such an idiot, who gets freaked over plastic?
You took the few steps towards it and turned it back over again. Tapping your fingers against the countertop in thought you wondered if you should actually play the game. It's highly possible it was just some kind if virus ready to wipe your entire harddrive, but your curiosity was getting the better of you.
You really needed to see what this was, consequences be damned!
Deciding that you’ll use your old high school laptop, you headed back to the bedroom to change into comfortable clothing. You found a pair of old white, cotton shorts and your well loved gray t-shirt that was much too big for you, left behind by a long forgotten ex. You couldn't even remember his name, or maybe you didn't want to remember. He was an ex for a reason, but the shirt sure was comfortable and his loss for leaving it with you. The only scent lingering on it was your own, so by definition and for all intents and purposes, it was yours.
Placing the game on your desk, you went rummaging around your room for the laptop.
Searching high and low; under your bed and in the wardrobes, resulted in nothing. You spend a good twenty minutes before checking the drawers of your desk and finding it hidden under stacks of scrap bits of paper in the bottom drawer. How cliché, and of course it was there.
Agitated, you moved your current laptop away and plugged in the old tried and true. It got you through high school, so hopefully it’ll make it through this.
Though you had hoped inside it wasn't a dud, as you began to feel sentimental about the outdated electronic.
If it did, you'd think about setting aside the money to have it fixed, even if it wasn't worth it - and it most definitely wouldn't be worth it.
You waited a couple of minutes for the thing to boot up, dusting off the slight dirt that accumulated from its lack of use. The age of the laptop was clear as you heard the fan blare to life.
Would it even be able to run the thing? There's no way you'd risk your actual computer on this…
Once deemed ready enough, you pressed down on the disc drive a couple of times, using much more than necessary force on the last push when the reader wouldn't open.
You waited impatiently as it closed with a quiet click, tracing your finger over the trackpad as the cursor moved violently across the screen.
You kept waiting… and waiting… and waiting… until….
Black.
The screen had shut off, and no amount of pressing the power button, force restarting the laptop or even hitting it did anything.
“You’ve got to be kidding me!” the disbelief and anger present in your tone as you plugged the charger cable in and out of the port.
You weren't entirely surprised it was a scam, a virus now killing your laptop, but that didn't mean you weren't any less pissed.
Yeah you were lucky it was an old laptop, anything on it long since gone when the thing was reset before you graduated, but still…
What a waste of a laptop and the ten dollars spent on a useless thing. On the off chance that the laptop's hardware was too old to run it, you couldn't even get the disc back unless you wanted to pry the drive reader open and damage it further.
With a huff you slammed the laptop shut, grabbing your phone and laying down in your bed. You’d figure out what to do when you had time, but you were too upset to deal with your broken device now.
At least you had the sense to use an old laptop with no data. Gotta take those silver linings.
To lift your spirits, you ordered some takeaway, eagerly awaiting to stuff your face full of the greasy food. After the later half of the day, you felt like you deserved it, and the knock on your door couldn't come soon enough.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Switching off your television, you reached beside you and tapped on your phone screen to check the time.
10:34pm.
You debated whether you did want to sleep now, but your body decided to answer for you as you let out a loud yawn.
Your lounge was pretty comfortable right now, but after previous experiences, you'd definitely be feeling it in the morning.
The longer you stayed, the more difficult it would be to leave so you quickly got up, threw away the rubbish from your order and went on to do your nightly routine.
After the final step of brushing your teeth, you went to bed, flicking off the bedroom light before you looked towards your desk. Your laptop illuminating a glow along the edge.
Well that's suspicious… that's weird…
You shook your head off the image and voice of Cardi B and slowly sat down at your desk. Tentatively reaching out and opening the laptop you were met with a title screen.
A Bizarre Dating Adventure.
A deep blue background with the words in a hot pink gradient that faded to white. Deep violet coloured roses garnished the sides as different hues of purple petals fell from the top of your screen.
A Bizarre Dating Adventure, that was the name of the game from the listing, wasn't it?
Absentmindedly, your middle finger moved across the trackpad, white sparkles glittering off the cursor with every motion.
Surely a few minutes wouldn't hurt right? Just to get a feel and understanding of the game.
Small, white text slowly flashed underneath the title text reading ‘PRESS SPACE TO START.’
“Here goes nothing.” you murmured, as the screen faded to black, shrouding your entire room in darkness as well.
After a few seconds of nothing, you became apprehensive. You silently prayed that it didn't conk out on you again. There was no way you’d be teased like this.
It felt like a minute before the black screen started to light up again imperceptibly, a slight purple tinge colouring against the blackness. More white text appeared.
>> ‘HELLO’
You awaited the continuation, but nothing else had occurred, the bold letters staring at you. You clicked all over the screen and tapped enter, but there was still nothing. On a whim, you ran your hand over your keyboard to see it typed into the screen, right underneath the greeting.
How peculiar.
You held backspace to remove what was a mess of letters and numbers before typing back a ‘HI’ and hitting enter.
>> ‘ARE YOU THE NEW STUDENT?’
New student? Was this game set in a school?
> NEW STUDENT?
>> ‘AT SWF UNIVERSITY’
At least it wasn't in high school, thank goodness. You’d be damned to face another high school otome game. Figuring this was how the game went, but deciding to see what would happen you typed,
> NO
You tried to hit enter, but nothing happened. I guess it wouldn't accept that answer. You deleted the text before following what you assumed to be the correct response,
> YES
>> WELL, AREN’T YOU A SIGHT FOR SORE EYES
The text response was different now, a yellow instead of the earlier white. You felt a shiver run up you, looking behind at your empty room. You sensed that something was wrong, yet you didn't know why.
>> WHAT’S WRONG? SCARED?
Okay this wasn't funny, and this disc was obviously some kind of troll or some deep web, tracking crap. At minimum it was designed to scare you and at most… well you didn't want to think about that.
> A LITTLE
You don't know why you decided to be somewhat honest, but something was telling you that it would be better than lying. Not like it mattered much.
>> HMM, YOU SHOULD BE
You kept rereading the text before the screen flashed with your name, repeating over and over and over again.
Fuck that!
You unplugged the charger, covering your room, once again in darkness. Your breathing became laboured, as your heart beat thundered furiously in your chest, threatening to explode. That most definitely was some type of tracking, data hacking bullshit! Fuck, fuck, fuck!
What were you supposed to do now?! Call the police? Move? You were only kind of kidding about being sent the disc by an axe murderer, but it was now a very real possibility.
You tried in vain to calm down, tears forming at the corner of your eyes. This was so stupid! So completely, utterly and devastatingly s, t, u, p, i, d! You closed the lid and shoved it back into the drawer. It gave you some semblance of safety. Tomorrow you’d go far away and toss it in a random dumpster. To hell with sentimentality, that laptop was now dead to you.
You wished it would've worked earlier, at least then you would've been able to dispose of it. There's no way you were leaving your unit now at this hour.
Maybe you shouldn't throw it away and instead give it to the proper authorities? But if it was just some troll, you'd either be laughed at out of the station, or berated for wasting their time with nonsense.
You triple checked your deadbolt and closing every curtain, also ensuring that every window was sealed shut and locked.
Retreating back to your room you hid under the covers, the fluffy security net doing little to curb the anxiety that was manifesting inside.
You were surprised to feel yourself growing drowsier, the cute cat compilation video that you put on was only 6 minutes in.
You fell asleep shortly after that, your phone showing a ginger cat jumping off a shed roof and face planting into the concrete.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
You woke up with a start, sitting up as you gasped for breath. You could feel the slight sweat covering your body, a stuffiness surrounding you as you attempted to slow down your breathing. You looked around the room, a new panic forming as you saw the furniture and belongings of someone who was definitely not you.
Your room didn't look like this! Neither was that desk, or that chair! These sheets weren't yours either.
You closed your eyes as your breathing picked up again, thinking of what to do next before your phone went off with a ding.
Reaching down, you unlocked your phone screen as the words ‘A BIZARRE DATING GAME’ faded into view.
Uhm…

a week or two ago, lando had told you that he wasn’t sure if he was able to come, considering mclaren needed him at the factory that week. you obviously reassured him that the team came first, but you would be lying if you said you weren’t thrilled that your boyfriend was here. another great part of graduation was that the paparazzi couldn’t follow lando in, though you hoped your classmates would have the decency to not take pictures as well.
“i’m so, so glad i could make it,” he mumbled into your neck before pecking your lips. “you just got your master’s degree! i’m so proud of you, love.”
“thanks,” you responded, a giddy grin on your face as one word flashed in your mind. perfect, everything was perfect. “i’m so happy you’re here for this. i know i said mclaren comes first, but right now, i’m glad that you’re with me. i love you, lando.”
he gave you his radiant smile that you had grown so fond of. “i love you too, y/n.”
.:*:.
later that evening, you were hunched over your laptop on the sofa while lando was playing some games with his mates. you were applying to some jobs, with around 15 tabs open.
you heard some footsteps after you uploaded your resume for the third time, and a head rested on your shoulder, brown curls falling into your peripheral.
“whatcha doing?” lando asked.
“just applying for jobs,” you replied.
“which teams have you applied to so far?” you had wanted to become an f1 engineer for as long as you can remember, and lando knew all about your aspirations.
“hm, let’s see, rb, mercedes, and aston martin,” you said, showing your boyfriend your screen.
“no mclaren?” he pouted, making you laugh.
“i’m getting there, don’t worry, lan,” you chuckled, clicking onto the mclaren website.
while you were doing that, lando commented, “y’know i could ask andrea if there are any travelling jobs available.” you scrolled through the jobs, frowning at the small number of vacancies.
“there’s not really anything,” you answered. “the tyre engineer looks like the only thing for my skill set, honestly.” lando leaned over your shoulder to get a better look at the job description.
“hey, that’s a travelling job!” he smiled. “i can talk to andrea, put in the good word for you and-”
“lan,” you interrupted. “i know you mean well, but i want to get in by my own means.” lando opened his mouth to protest, but you continued, “it would be amazing to be able to travel with you, but i need to be able to get in by myself. i need to know that i can still make it independently. i really hope you understand.”
“of course i understand,” lando sighed, a small smile of disappointment on his face. “you know i only want the best for you, love. it’s just that i could finally do something meaningful with my status, but that’d be giving you an advantage, so i’ll back off.” he finished by pressing a kiss to your temple.
your heart melted at your boyfriend’s actions; he wanted you by his side, but he put what you wanted first. “thank you, lan,” you smiled. “but fingers crossed i’ll get hired anyways.”
“luck? you don’t need that,” lando responded. “you’re smart, kind, beautiful, and amazing.” with each adjective, he pressed a kiss to your face.
“you flatter me,” you said, laughing.
“it’s true!” lando protested.
your gaze softened. “you know you’re the best, right, lando?”
“eh, you can say it again.”
.:*:.
you were travelling with lando to the mtc because you were “going to the race” with him, but really, you were there for your first day of work.
a few weeks ago, you had gotten emails from mercedes and mclaren, saying you got the job. however, you wanted to surprise lando, so you only told him about mercedes, telling him you were going to work for the silver arrows.
his disappointment almost made you change your mind, but it was going to be worth it to surprise him. ahead of time, you had reached out to oscar (well, mostly lily) and asked if he and zak could help you surprise lando. surprisingly, (but also not), they both agreed with eagerness, which you suspected was because your boyfriend was very lovable.
once you arrived at the mtc, you and lando walked around, getting an extra-warm welcome from zak, oscar, and lily. you introduced yourself to lily, for it was the first time you two had met in person, all of your previous contact being calls or texts.
“where and why have you been gatekeeping her, lando?” lily scolded, immediately wrapping you in a hug. “it’s so nice to finally meet you in person. now, we can finally ditch lando and oscar.” you gave her a smirk, leaning into her side as the two of you grinned at your boyfriends.
“this is exactly why,” lando scoffed. “hands off my girlfriend, even you, lily.” the aussie pouted before giggling, and everyone in the room knew she had no intentions of leaving you alone, nor did you want her to.
“anyways,” zak started, sending a quick pointed glance in your direction. “lando, you’re needed on the sim. oscar, lily, wanna chat with y/n?” personally, you thought it was too obvious but nonetheless, your boyfriend went along without question as zak ushered lando away to another mclaren employee before turning to the three of you.
“okay, so here’s the plan, we’re going to show you to your office, give you the teamwear, and then bring in lando for the surprise. i’ll go to lando and you two show her to her desk. you know what to do if we need to stall,” zak stated. lily and oscar nodded solemnly, and you almost burst out laughing at how serious they were taking this.
“i’m so excited you got the job!” lily gushed, linking her arm through yours as the three of you went to the offices. “we can spend so much time together now.”
“she still has to work,” oscar pointed out, amusement on his face. “by your reaction, it almost sounds like she did all this for you.”
lily gave her boyfriend a conspiratorial glance. “maybe she did,” she smirked.
the aussie driver sighed in mock-annoyance before turning to you. “but in all seriousness, i think lando will love this surprise.” you thanked him, grinning at the prospect of the surprise about to unfold.
the couple stopped by an empty desk with the teamwear folded. “alright, so this is your temporary desk for now, since you’ll mostly just be travelling,” oscar explained.
“this is surprisingly well planned out,” you laughed, knowing who was likely spearheading this ‘project.’
“zak was really invested in this,” lily chimed in, confirming your suspicions. “let’s be real, he’s been waiting to do this to one of his sons.” you snorted at that.
“anyways, i’ll be right back,” you said, leaving to change into the clothes. while in the bathroom, you also put your hair up into a messy bun to throw off lando even more.
when you came back out, only lily was sitting there. “oscar went for some last minute meeting,” she explained, getting up so you could sit. “and lando and zak are on their way, so i’ll need to leave so he doesn’t think it’s you.”
“great, thanks so much, lily!” you pulled her into a hug. “catch you later?”
she nodded with a smile before turning and walking, leaving you alone. however, a minute or two later, you heard footsteps and voices behind you.
“lando, i need you to talk to one of our engineers real quick,” zak said, but you didn’t turn around. not yet.
“sure, what’s up?” you heard lando say before you turned around. you smiled as you saw your boyfriend’s jaw drop, rushing to hug you.
“i- what, how?” he sputtered. “i thought you were going to mercedes, baby.” you gave him a mischievous grin.
“it was all part of the plan, lan — wow that rhymed — i just didn’t tell you about mclaren,” you explained. “and then zak, oscar, and lily helped me distract you, which wasn’t a hard task.” lando sent you a pointed look before pecking your cheek.
“i’m so proud of you, y/n,” he beamed. “i’m beyond happy right now. wait, does this mean you can travel with me?”
“yeah.” you nodded, not prepared for when lando leaned forward, pressing his lips to yours. as you felt him smiling, your own lips began to curve upwards too.
“alright, we get it, son,” zak commented, amusement on his face. “please don’t show too much pda, please.” lando gave him a salute, goofy grin on his face as his green eyes met yours.
“you have no idea how much this means to me, love,” he said softly, reaching for your hand. “and i’m so happy for you, and us.”
and so, your first day in f1 was a success.
.:*:.
it had been about a year since that eventful first day at mclaren, and you had enjoyed the ride since. now as you stood in the garage, watching as lando passed the chequered flag in first place for the first time, hand clapped over your mouth. you had left your usual spot with the telemetry to go stand next to his parents. cisca wrapped an arm around you as you cheered, headphones still on, while adam had tears in his eyes as he stared at the screen with pride.
it had been an eventful race. opening lap was chaos, with three cars retiring just from turn 1. after that, the sun started beating down on the track, making tyre degradation rather high and the heat affecting driver performance. places were being gained and lost constantly, and strategies were all over the place. despite all the drama on track, your boyfriend stayed level headed and calm as he lead the pack. of course he did. you had stood nervously to the left of will, glancing at the telemetry of the tyres.
lando was losing pace in the tyres, and fast. you could see the visible graining and the lap times increasing, and the gap to second place was shrinking quickly. he needed to pit before his tyres truly dropped off.
“i think we need to pit for mediums,” you had stated, earning a questioning glance from the race engineer. “we’re in the latter stages of the race, and if we pit, we’ll only drop one or two places, so then lando can use the faster tyre to overtake and then manage for the rest.”
you consulted a bit with the rest of strategy before telling will, who was now on board with the plan. the pit stop was smooth, the crew doing a wonderful job, and sure enough, lando was leading again after a couple of laps.
now, you were pulled out of your cheering and blissful state by zak. “y/n!” he called. “that was some amazing call. i think you should go on the podium.”
despite your heart leaping at the words, you pushed it down, shaking your head. “surely someone more important like will should go,” you stated, ignoring your temptation.
“how about we ask lando?” zak proposed with a sly grin, knowing damn well what your boyfriend would say. he turned on the radio, asking, “lando, who do you want on the podium with you today?”
“y/n,” he replied with no hesitation. “i mean obviously, thanks to the whole team for everything, but she’s the reason for my win today, and beyond that, she’s been my rock throughout everything.”
“well then,” zak said, turning to you with a smug expression. “i guess that’s settled.” you grinned back at him, unable to contain your excitement anymore.
rushing with the rest of the team, you waited by parc ferme, leaning against the metal barriers as the papaya car pulled up in front of the first place, flanked by a red bull and another mclaren.
lando took his time getting out of the car, letting it sink in. then, he got out, standing on top of his car, fist pumping and pointing a finger towards the sky. jumping off, he made his way to you first; he always found his way to you.
you pulled him in close, lifting up his visor and kissing his helmet. suddenly, lando reached up and took of his helmet, pulling you in for a real kiss. you felt the pride, elation, and everything with that kiss, sparkles tingling along your spine. “lando, baby,  i’m so fucking proud of you,” you said, eyes meeting his. “this is your moment to shine, and i’m so glad i’m here with you. i love you so much, lan.”
“i love you too, y/n.” he didn’t have to say it back with the way he was looking at you, but god, did it make the moment even better.
as lando was whisked away for the interview, you were ushered behind to get ready for the podium, where max and oscar were already waiting.
“y/n!” oscar smiled. “you’re going onto the podium? lando’s request?”
“yep,” you nodded. “zak and lando insisted even though i said will or someone else should go.”
“you deserve to be here,” oscar protested, making you grin. “you’re our tyre engineer, after all.”
“thanks, oscar,” you responded. “congrats on the podium as well!” the aussie thanked you, but you hardly heard it was another person walked over.
“lan!” you exclaimed, rushing towards your boyfriend. you felt his arms wrap around your waist, pulling you towards him. “that’s my race winner!”
“thanks, love,” lando replied, and you would feel the vibrations in his chest. “it honestly feels so surreal and amazing.” just then, all of you were directed to start entering the podium, with oscar going first.
eventually, it was your turn, butterflies starting to flutter in your stomach. as you stepped out onto the podium in front of the crowd, your breath caught in your throat. it was absolutely breathtaking and so gorgeous. the cheers of the crowd and all the fans and team members were something else.
and then they called lando’s name. you cheered as he walked across, pumping a fist to the team before his eyes met yours. the british anthem started playing, and you felt your heart swell with pride and happiness as you watched your boyfriend smile and take in the moment. he noticed you watching and gave you a wink that left you blushing.
once the music was over and the trophies were handed out, lando grabbed the champagne bottle and smashed it against the podium, turning towards you and drenching you. you tried to fight back, but to no avail, laughing as you gave up.
after the little celebration, you and lando went behind the podium and cameras with the champagne and trophies in hand. you held out your bottle for him to clink. “to us,” lando stated.
“to you and your amazing win,” you corrected before taking a sip. afterwards, your gaze met your boyfriend’s and something made your heart skip a few beats. maybe it was the sparkle in his eyes, or the pride you felt, but you were just so overwhelmingly happy.
“y’know, i’m so lucky,” you started. “to experience this with you and to be your girlfriend. i love you so, so much, lando.” as you smiled up at him, his expression almost melted your heart.
“i’m the lucky one, love,” lando protested, threading his fingers with yours. “you’re so amazing, kind, and always there for me. i think the stars aligned when they brought us together.”
you leaned forward, pressing your lips to his. “i have to agree with you there, lan.”

what would he do if he found us out?
Tumblr media
Everything about your best friend is perfect to you. Her eyes. Her hair. Her lips. The way her face lights up whenever she sees you. The way her head falls back when you make her laugh just a little too hard at one of your stupid jokes. The only thing you don’t find perfect is the fact that she has a boyfriend. Tashi and Patrick have been going out since they met last summer, now you and Tashi are in the middle of the spring quarter of your first year at Stanford. You like Patrick (and his friend, Art, who coincidentally also goes to Stanford). He’s a good looking guy, and Tashi is happy with him. You just can’t help the soul crushing jealousy that consumes you every time he comes to visit her and you have to watch them be all lovey-dovey at your lunch table.
“Hello? Are you even watching?” Tashi giggles and you snap back to reality, where you’re sitting on the floor of your best friend's dorm room drinking cheap beer and watching a rom com on your laptop.
“Sorry.” you laugh softly, “I just can’t pay attention to a movie right now.”
It’s a Friday night, and the two of you decided you didn’t feel like going out. You settled on a movie night in Tashi’s dorm, but your mind keeps wandering off. The two of you are already a bit tipsy at this point. Tashi shuts your laptop and looks at you, pursing her lips.
“Let’s play a game or something.”
“Like what?” you ask, smiling at her.
“I don’t know… truth or dare?”
You laugh at the suggestion, thinking she’s joking.
“What are we in middle school again?”
“C’mon, it’ll be fun. I want you to stop zoning out.” she pokes your side playfully and grins.
“Okay, fine. Truth or dare?” you start off.
“Dare.”
“Okay… um… I dare you to…” you pause and look around, trying to think of something, “text Patrick right now and tell him you’re pregnant.” You laugh at how stupid it is, but it was the first thing that came to your mind. Tashi rolls her eyes at you and reaches for her cellphone on her nightstand. She types out a message to Patrick and sends it, and turns her phone around to you to prove that she actually did it. You laugh with your hand over your mouth, in disbelief that she actually did it, but Tashi has never been one to chicken out on a dare. She puts her phone down on the floor next to her, then she pushes your shoulder playfully and you pretend to fall backwards.
“I hate you.” she says, but she smiles as she says it. “Truth or dare?” she says it with a hint of vengeance in her voice, so you decide to go with truth for now.
“Truth.”
“Okay… um… well our first year of college is almost over and you haven’t gone on a date or shown interest in or even hooked up with anyone. Is there anyone you… have a crush on? In one of your classes or something?” she asks with a slight smirk on her face.
“Um… yeah.” you say as your cheeks go red and you look down at your hands. She gives you a knowing smirk, but she doesn’t press any further, knowing it’s her turn now.
“Truth.” she says, not waiting for you to ask her.
“Hmm… have you ever lied to me?” you ask nervously.
“Yes.” she says plainly. You furrow your eyebrows, but you don’t ask any follow ups, thinking you’ll ask her what about the next time she chooses truth. “Truth or dare?”
“Mm.. dare.” you hesitate, but you don’t want her asking who you have a crush on if you were to choose truth.
“I dare you to kiss me.” she says it so casually, and you’re sure you must’ve misheard her. Your mind must be playing tricks on you.
“What?”
“I dare you to kiss me.” she repeats, and your mouth falls open a little bit in shock.
“W-what about Patrick?” you ask hesitantly.
“It’s just a dare, it’s fine. Don’t worry about it. He doesn’t have to know.”
She’s so nonchalant about it all, meanwhile you feel like your heart is going to explode out of your chest at any second. You hesitate for a moment, but then you lean closer to her almost instinctively, as if you’ve been possessed. You’ve waited years for this opportunity, and you weren’t going to let the thought of upsetting some boy get in the way of it. You place a hand on her cheek gently, and lean in further, pressing your lips against hers. They’re just as soft and sweet as you’d always imagined they’d be. You expect it to be over within seconds, but Tashi leans in further, placing a hand on the back of your neck and deepening the kiss. You can’t help but think about how wrong this is, but you really don’t care. You push the thoughts away and focus on the fact that you’re kissing your best friend right now. Tashi pushes you back on her floor, your head hitting one of the pillows the two of you had laid out for your movie night, and gets on top of you. You slide your hands down her sides and rest them on her hips as she continues to kiss you. She slides one hand under your t-shirt and squeezes one of your breasts, and you let out a soft moan into her lips.
“Is this okay?” she asks softly, and you nod.
“Yes. Yes.” you say through soft gasps. She kisses you again, sucking and biting on your bottom lip. She removes her hand from your shirt and slides it down to the waistband of your shorts. She rubs your hip gently before she slides her hand into your shorts. You moan softly at the feeling of her hand on your clothed heat.
“So wet.” she says quietly between kisses as she traces gentle circles around your clit through your underwear. She moves her hand out of your shorts and your hips buck upwards at the sudden lack of her touch. She smiles as she stops kissing you, and moves down. She pushes your legs apart and looks up at you, her head between your legs. She gently tugs at the waistband of your shorts, and pulls them down along with your underwear. You spread your legs apart further and she smirks at you.
“Look at you… dripping wet for me already. So desperate for my touch. You’ve wanted this for a long time, huh?”
Your breath hitches as you look down at her between your legs. She kisses your inner thigh and your entire body feels like it’s on fire. She continues to place kisses along your inner thigh, moving closer and closer to your heat. You moan as her tongue delves into your folds, lapping at your wetness.
“Fu- Fuck! Tashi!” you barely manage to choke out through moans as she sucks on your clit. You grip onto the blanket underneath you and arch your back. She moves one of her hands up and teases your entrance with her middle and ring fingers before slipping them into your tight pussy and thrusting them in and out. The combined sensation of her fingers inside you and her mouth on your clit drives you insane, pushing you closer to the edge. You can’t contain the loud moans that escape your lips, probably heard by her entire dorm floor.
“Tashi, fuck! I’m so close.” you gasp out, gripping the blanket even harder, your knuckles turning white. You look down at her between your legs again, and just the sight of her is enough to send you over the edge. Your best friend has never looked more perfect to you than in this moment, with her face buried in your folds. You moan her name loudly as you reach your climax, your back arching again as you see stars. Tashi lifts her head and slips her fingers out of you and your back relaxes. You just lay there on her floor, trying to catch your breath, and Tashi moves up to lay down next to you. She places a hand on your cheek and turns your head to face her, placing another kiss on your lips, allowing you to taste yourself on her mouth. She rests her head on her arm, just looking at you.
“You’re so perfect.” you say softly, and she smiles at you. You just stare at her, admiring her, thinking you must be in a dream you’re going to wake up from at any moment. Your peace is interrupted by the sound of Tashi’s phone ringing. She sits up and picks it up off the floor next to her and you can see the caller ID on the tiny screen reads “Patrick Zweig”. She declines the call, silences her phone, and tosses it up onto her bed, before laying back down next to you. You look at her with a bit of confusion on your face, knowing he must be calling about the text you dared her to send earlier.
“I’ll call him back later.” she says plainly, wrapping her arm around you and pulling you close. The thoughts of how wrong what the two of you just did was start flooding into your head, thinking about what Patrick would do if he found out what you just did with his girlfriend. These thoughts are immediately pushed away when Tashi kisses your cheek and pulls you even closer. As you lay there in your best friend's arms, the only thoughts that flood your brain now are how lucky you are to have her.
