I'm a new jets fan and I am sooo curious about your post about the locket room being toxic. is it just a vibe or is there actually known fueds between players?
okay i am going to state that the majority of this is hearsay/gossip, but here's a few things i can state fairly confidently
evander kane (noted ex-jet and ex-shark, current oiler) was not liked in the locker room, at least by dustin byfuglien (who i will shortly refer to as "buff," a nickname of his)
buff was an F/D for the jets/thrashers, and an alternate captain for them as well as a perennial all-star. there is an actual photo of him flipping off evander, so this feud is the least alleged thing about the Jetsuation (jets situation). right before the pandemic buff was granted a leave of absence and then a contract termination -- the rumours about this are twofold; one, that his body was breaking down (he was frequently injured so there's almost certainly truth to this) and two, that he was Not Friends with blake wheeler/mark schiefele
mark schiefele was essentially a co-captain, from what i can tell (now that wheeler is a] stripped of the captaincy b] a ranger and c] not long for the nhl, i imagine they might Name him), and is known to be firstly, an evangelical Christian (no hate, but, like, if you don't work in the church and your christianity is more than two lines in your wikipedia page? harshes the vibes) and secondly, kind of an asshole.
blake wheeler was, up until the 2022-23 season, the captain of the jets. they stripped him of the C in the offseason. he was good friends/allies with schiefele. he is apparently at least a democrat though so that's cool. what's uncool is the uh
THE PATRIK LAINE SITUATION
it's 2016. the jets have sucked ass and now have the second overall pick. they pick patrik laine, a winger with a great shot and some serious star potential
laine is a favourite pretty much instantly, scoring 36 goals as an eighteen-year-old rookie and 44 the year after. he's not twenty and arguably one of the best players winnipeg has ever had. quiet, even-keel, fashionable.
there's some contract struggles in there, including a stint where he went to switzerland as an rfa, but he comes back, signs a very short contract, we move.
gets hurt in december, before he comes back from it he's traded to columbus.
a little bit later, rumours come out -- blake wheeler (also a winger) was jealous of his skill, wanted the ice-time and the glory, and mark schiefele, the best centre on the team, wanted to play only with wheeler, not laine. rumours say the two of them bullied him to his face, talked about him behind his back, and the then-coach (paul maurice iirc) just sat there and let it happen (although maurice has stated he regrets not intervening). after this, laine allegedly requests a trade
so yeah
beyond The Patrik Laine Situation there's just rumours of them not liking each other at all; on paper they should be a comfortable away playoffs team, a 3-seed or a comfy wild card, but in practice they're a wild-card team at best -- they were up there in the division for a few months last year, but seriously crashed and burned as soon as january rolls around. there are seemingly yearly soundbites of them going "well, we just don't like each other all that much," and everyone always seems to want out (although that might be winnipeg the city more than winnipeg the team.)
i will leave you with one old alleged anecdote: some reddit guy once went to a party (or a concert? maybe a restaurant or club?) where the jets were, and instead of socializing, talking to each other, they were apparently all just sitting around in silence not really lookin at each other at all

Jonny as a wandering soul, a traveler, who went from his hometown in Winnipeg off to college in North Dakota, did a stint in Mexico building houses and that was it, he was gone, the call of the wild world luring him in. He lives everywhere exactly a year, digging wells in Ethiopia, shearing sheep in Australia, working on a coffee plantation in Bali, teaching folks how to surf in Costa Rica, living in an ashram in India. Getting to know the people, the local customs, living his best life. Doing it all for a year, a full cycle, all the seasons and the celebrations, the ups and downs, and then he moves on.
He's just arrived in Chicago working in a pizza restaurant even though he's gluten-free, working dough all day, standing at the giant oven in full view of the patrons, white shirt clinging to his forearms, giant forehead glistening under his white paper cap as he rotates pies in and out of the oven.
Patrick, of course, is instantly smitten, getting elbowed by Sharpy and Shawzy more than once when he can't stop staring at this hunk of a man working the counter today, throwing on cheese with a flick of his wrists that has Pat sweating. Takes him all meal to gather up the courage to sidle up to Jonny at the end of the night while Shawzy and Sharpy watch from the door, Jonny wiping down the counter, Pat's own palms sweaty.
"How long, uh, have you been making pizzas?" God, Pat is the lamest human being on earth.
Jonny looks up, surprised, like he didn't expect Pat to actually gather his courage and speak to him. He musters Pat with dark eyes before his lips quirk up in a tiny smirk. "Two days."
"Two days?!" Pat is getting his leg pulled here. No way did Jonny only learn that two days ago.
Jonny looks smug, flattered by Pat's incredulousness, eyes twinkling like he's laughing at Patrick. "I just got here."
They hit it off. Pat shows Jonny around, to millennium park taking goofy selfies in the bean, takes him to a hockey game even though the Hawks suck but the tickets are cheap, eats more pizza than he has in decades. Jonny is fascinating, full of stories, full of thoughts on life, on spirituality and what it means to be alive, how to do good, speaks with such quiet intensity Pat can't help but hang on every word, his own measly life as an accountant suddenly feeling small and pale in comparison to Jonny's wild stories.
Jonny's pan, because you can't wander the world without opening your mind to all the beautiful people out there (his words, not Pat's), and when he kisses Pat, hand rough with callouses resting lightly on Pat's cheek, Pat's gone hook, line, and sinker.
They all but move in together, Sharpy teasing Pat relentlessly how everything's 'Jonny, Jonny, Jonny' these days, Pat's cheeks blushy when Sharpy smiles and claps him on the back. "You look happy, Peekaboo."
Jonny's hot and funny and so very good with his hands. Pat's in love.
And then Jonny tells him, casual, the two of them curled up on the bed of Jonny's pickup truck, blanket and Jonny's thick arm wrapped around him because Pat gets cold, apples from when they went picking them in the orchard earlier spilling out of the Ikea bags they used to collect them in (Jonny wants to make juice, Pat came for the free food), watching the stars because Jonny is a closet romantic like that, loudly musing where else he wants to go next. Pat's suddenly cold in a way that has nothing to do with the outside temperature, heart heavy in his chest.
They have a year.

I was tagged by @blossom-adventures and @thequeenofthewinter :)
3 Ships:
I'm going to delve away from Skyrim here because my procrastination response if I don't want to be productive around my place, is to immerse myself in as much media as possible. So an obvious one is OC/Brynjolf. Otherwise, Adi would not exist XD my others are OC (or reader)/Jacob Frye because I'm still hyperfixating on AC Syndicate. I also recently finally started Jane the Virgin, and I'm a slut for Jane/Rafael
1st Ever Ship:
I was but a young child, barely able to comprehend reading when my first ever a ship came to be. I shit you not. I think I was 5. It was Blue/Magenta in Blue's Clues. I found out a couple years ago was also my first gay ship, and I am HERE for it.
Last Song:
Boyfriend by Dove Cameron
Last Movie:
I watched one in my filmmaking class by a local director who created a film about a Ukrainian woman who immigrated to modern-day Winnipeg. Do I remember the title? Nope. Do I want to? Nope.
This movie was filmed back in like,,, 2019 I believe, is what he said and released like last year. It's two hours and could've been easily cut down to one. Very slow, almost too slow. I liked a lot of the shots. It was interesting to watch a film where only two characters - who were in there briefly - spoke English.
So there are good things about it, but it definitely could've been way better. I felt like the writing was almost too dry, and the director didn't give us any context as to what the plot was or any warnings that were needed (nudity and a certain subject related to nudity that is unpleasant to watch, to put it nicely).
I just think we should keep cishet white north American men away from creating films with that kind of subject because they don't,,, get it. Granted, neither do I but I do have an entire family of immigrants.
Currently Reading:
Well, it was my personality psych textbook, but no more! I hope to finish @thequeenofthewinter's fic because I'm behind due to school, and after that? Well, when the term starts, one of the texts for one of my classes is "The Handmaid's Tale," and I'm VERY excited to read it.
Currently Watching:
Too many things at once.
Jane the Virgin
Wednesday (I get the hype, I have critiques, but imma keep them to myself because it's very nitpicky and a bit pretentious)
RuPaul's Drag Race S14 (I'm on episode 7)
Canada's Drag Race S2 (I'm on episode 4)
The Witcher (started it in September, had a depressive episode)
Slow rewatch of Avatar: The Last Airbender because I'm following the podcast recaps and discussions
Slow rewatch of Kim Possible because I got bored and switched to the Witcher (it's great to watch after a long shift at work, though)
Wizards of Waverly Place (helped me through the depressive episode. Downside? I've seen it so many times the show is fully memorized)
Hunters on Amazon Prime (They re-edited the show to take out the scenes that got a lot of negative press, and I'm mad, so I stopped because they also re-edited my favourite scene in the entire show)
Teen Wolf (gotta prep for the movie coming out in 2023)
Okay yeah, so my fam and I have a lot of streaming services. Welcome to my Dad, and I are movie buffs
Currently Consuming:
Water. I'm pulling an all-nighter because I gotta be at the airport in two and a half hours, so if I sleep I will miss my flight. Gotta stay hydrated!
Currently Craving:
Tacos from a place back home, and lemonade from a pop-up lemonade stand that ends up at every big event in my city back home and if I can convince my parents I'll be able to get one and won't have to wait until Stampede in July next year. It's the best damn lemonade I've ever had.
The specific tacos I'm craving are the best damn fast-food tacos I've ever had, but I've definitely had better. My sister worked at a Mexican restaurant specializing in tacos that a family member owns, for god's sake. Although, now that I'm thinking about it, I also crave those. I think I just want tacos.
I can't really think of anyone to tag (the main person I would've tagged, tagged me first XD), so I pass this on to anyone that wants to do it :)

Day 42 July 12 Winnipeg - Cedar Creek 132kms
Yesterday was another enjoyable rest day. My apartment was awesome and right in the city. I went out walking in the morning….it’s a city. It seems to have a lot of car parks on the east side where I was staying. The bicycle infrastructure is excellent so I’m surprised a lot more people don’t take advantage of it, especially since Winnipeg is flat. There were cyclist, but not as many as you would expect.
I did see this interesting structure
Tumblr media
it’s the human rights museum. Hmmm, not really my thing. I was keen to see the famous Forks Markets. It didn’t open until 10am so I did a big walking loop back to it and ended up there right at 10.
Tumblr media
They’re not really markets. Just a lot of food places downstairs and overpriced souvenir shops upstairs. The best feature was this outdoor area by the river where I was able to take my coffee and cinnamon bun and relax for a while, reading my kindle.
Tumblr media
Today I was packed and ready early. I had to get out of the city before hitting the highway. I navigated it perfectly, helped by the fact that I’d been out that way, over the river the day before to go to the supermarket.
There was almost 10kms of dealing with lights and traffic before the Trans Canada Highway 1.
Tumblr media
It has a good shoulder and it’s very flat. The wind was coming from the side today but it’s wasn’t too strong. As the day went on and the road veered to the north my speed would increase noticeably each time I caught the wind.
I knew there wouldn’t be anywhere for a break for a while but I did see a couple of interesting things. First this
Tumblr media
it’s the centre of Canada! Not the centre of my ride however, as I started way back in Anchorage which is a lot further west. I also had to go north up to Tok before heading south again. I’m also not going all the way across. I should be done in 20 days. 😁
Next I came upon this lady walking
Tumblr media
She didn’t hear my bell ringing as I came up behind her so I got a face full of flag. This is Glenda who is walking with her family to Ottawa to call on the Federal Government to launch an inquiry in missing, murdered and neglected indigenous men and boys. They had a support car just ahead and were taking turns to walk.
I didn’t think it was worth diverting into Ste.Anne’s so I had gone almost 60kms before reaching Richer. There was a very nice looking place selling local produce with a cafe at the side….which was shut. The owner was a very cranky man who just snarled when I asked about coffee. Yes, Shirley had knocked over one of the metal chairs out the front when I was parking her, but I did pick it up. We moved on to the Subway/Service Station. So it was coffee and Subway cookies again for my break. At least they have tables and chairs and are friendly.
A map check revealed a restaurant called Sophie’s about 40kms up the road and 1km to the north. The next 40kms were pretty easy as I was catching the wind a lot. This restaurant was the only thing in a town called Hadashville but it was worth the diversion. It was run by Ukrainians who were doing all the baking. It smelled fantastic!
Tumblr media
Only 33kms to go and it seemed to pass quickly. The Highway is split in a lot of places and you can’t see the other side. I knew I would have to take one of the little roads which joined both sides, then double back to my motel. Yep! I picked it perfectly.
This is not a town. It’s just a RV park and motel. It’s a little overpriced but I’m glad it’s here because it’s another 80kms to the next town.
Tumblr media
Looks like a shorter day tomorrow!

What are some Winnipeg restaurants you frequent that aren’t fast food that have good meals?
I don't really eat out a lot because, between Sam and me we have a ton of allergies, some places we have gone that we've liked are
Nuburger (kind of fast food but not really)
Frankies Italian Kitchen
Cocoabeans (but they don't serve meals anymore, just baked goods)
Sorry I am not much help unless you're gluten-free and vegetarian if by chance you are gluten-free there is a facebook group that you can join that is the best place for info on safe places to eat!

Exterior House Painting
The exterior of your home is the first thing that people see when they approach your property. It is essential to keep it looking its best to make a good impression on visitors and potential buyers if you plan to sell your home in the future. Perry Wellington Painting and Decorating Winnipeg offers exterior house painting services to help you enhance the curb appeal of your home. We will start by power washing the surfaces to remove any dirt, grime, or old paint before applying a fresh coat of paint. We use high-quality paint that is weather-resistant to ensure that your home is protected from the harsh Canadian weather. Our team will also take the time to inspect and repair any damaged surfaces to ensure that the painting job lasts for many years to come.
Importance of Hiring Professional Painters
Painting a space can be a DIY project for some, but it's not always the best choice. There are several benefits to hiring professional painters, including:
Experience: Professional painters have the knowledge and expertise to handle any painting project, including selecting the right colors and finishes, preparing the surfaces, and applying the paint.
Quality work: Professional painters use high-quality paint and equipment to ensure that the job is done to perfection.
Time-saving: Painting a space can be a time-consuming project, especially for beginners. Professional painters have the tools and experience to get the job done quickly and efficiently.
Safety: Painting can be a hazardous activity, especially if you're working on high surfaces. Professional painters have the necessary safety equipment and training to work safely.
Choosing the Right Colors for Your Space
Choosing the right colors for your space can be a daunting task. The color scheme of a room can affect the mood and atmosphere of the space. Here are some tips to help you choose the right colors for your space:
Consider the purpose of the room: The color scheme of a room should align with its function. For example, a bedroom should have calming colors, while a kitchen can have brighter colors.
Think about the lighting: The lighting of a room can affect how the colors appear. Natural light can make colors appear brighter, while artificial light can make them look dull.
Test the colors: Before committing to a color, test it on a small area to see how it looks in the room's lighting.
Use the color wheel: The color wheel can help you choose colors that complement each other. Analogous colors (colors next to each other on the color wheel) can create a harmonious look, while complementary colors (colors opposite each other on the color wheel) can create a bold look.
Paint Finishes: Which One to Choose?
Paint finishes can affect the appearance and durability of a painted surface. Here are some of the most common paint finishes and their characteristics:
Matte: Matte finishes have no shine and are great for hiding imperfections. They are not as durable as other finishes and can be challenging to clean.
Eggshell: Eggshell finishes have a slight sheen and are more durable than matte finishes. They are ideal for high-traffic areas such as living rooms and bedrooms.
Satin: Satin finishes have a soft sheen and are more durable than eggshell finishes. They are ideal for kitchens and bathrooms.
Semi-gloss: Semi-gloss finishes have a high sheen and are very durable. They are ideal for areas that need to be cleaned frequently, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and trim.
Gloss: Gloss finishes have the highest sheen and are the most durable. They are ideal for high-traffic areas and surfaces that need to be cleaned frequently, such as doors and cabinets.
