Value vs. Growth Stocks: What’s the Difference and Which One Should You Invest ??
Tumblr media
When it comes to investing in stocks, there are various strategies and approaches that investors can employ. Two popular investment styles are value investing and growth investing. Understanding the difference between these two approaches is essential for making informed investment decisions. In this blog, we will delve into the characteristics of value and growth stocks, explore their differences, and help you determine which one aligns with your investment goals.
Value Stocks: Uncovering Hidden Gems
Value stocks are companies that are considered undervalued by the market, trading at prices lower than their intrinsic value. These stocks often have stable earnings, pay dividends, and possess solid fundamentals. Value investors typically focus on identifying stocks with low price-to-earnings (P/E) ratios, low price-to-book (P/B) ratios, or other valuation metrics that suggest the stock is priced lower than its actual worth. Value stocks may include mature companies in established industries that may have experienced temporary setbacks or are overlooked by the market.
Top of Form
Bottom of Form
Key Characteristics of Value Stocks:
Low valuation metrics: Value stocks often have low P/E ratios, P/B ratios, or other valuation metrics compared to their industry peers.
Dividend payments: Many value stocks are known for their consistent dividend payments, making them attractive to income-focused investors.
Established companies: Value stocks are typically found in well-established industries, where companies have a long history and solid track records.
Potential for turnaround: Value investing involves identifying companies with potential for a turnaround or market correction, where their true value may be unlocked over time.
Growth Stocks: Investing in the Future
Growth stocks, on the other hand, are companies that exhibit strong growth potential, often characterized by above-average revenue and earnings growth rates. These companies typically reinvest their earnings back into the business to fuel expansion, rather than paying dividends. Growth investors seek companies that are at the forefront of innovation, disruptive technologies, or emerging industries, with the expectation that their earnings and stock prices will rise substantially in the future.
Key Characteristics of Growth Stocks:
High revenue and earnings growth: Growth stocks typically demonstrate above-average revenue and earnings growth rates compared to their peers and the overall market.
Limited or no dividends: Instead of distributing profits as dividends, growth companies reinvest earnings into research, development, and expansion.
Technological or industry disruptors: Growth stocks are often associated with companies leading the charge in innovative sectors or disrupting traditional industries.
High valuations: Due to their growth potential, growth stocks may trade at higher P/E ratios and valuation multiples compared to their current earnings.
Which Should You Invest In: Value or Growth?
Deciding whether to invest in value or growth stocks depends on your investment objectives, risk tolerance, and investment horizon. Both approaches have their merits:
Value stocks can offer stability, income potential, and the opportunity to buy companies at a discount. They are favored by conservative investors seeking established companies with solid fundamentals and attractive dividend yields.
Growth stocks, on the other hand, offer the potential for significant capital appreciation. They are suitable for investors with a higher risk appetite, a long-term investment horizon, and an interest in innovative industries and emerging trends.
Some investors choose to maintain a balanced portfolio that includes both value and growth stocks, diversifying their risk and capitalizing on opportunities across different market segments.
Ultimately, the decision between value and growth investing comes down to your personal financial goals, investment strategy, and risk tolerance. It is advisable to consult with a financial advisor or conduct thorough research before making any investment decisions.
Conclusion:
Value and growth investing represent distinct approaches to stock selection, each with its own set of characteristics and potential rewards. Value investing focuses on finding undervalued companies with solid fundamentals and stable earnings, while growth investing targets companies with high growth potential and innovation. The choice between value and growth stocks ultimately depends on your investment objectives, risk tolerance, and time horizon.

what's happening in argentina?
I don't fault you for the broad question because I'd ask too, but I need you to know that as a non-smoker I've never felt so strongly the need for a cigarette as I did just now thinking about answering this question. But I'll do my best.
In November of last year, the country elected Javier Milei as president. He would swear into office the next month. Javier Milei is a self-identified anarcho-capitalist and libertarian, although he states he is a minarchist in the short term (meaning he thinks the only functions the State should serve are those of law enforcement: no public education, social development, market regulations, etc etc). Some of his most controversial campaign statements included projects to legalise the free and unregulated sale of organs, and, along with his vice-president Victoria Villarruel (who in her youth organised visits to Jorge Rafael Videla in prison), apologia for the 1976 military dictatorship by revindicating the theory of the two demons (fair warning that from what I skimmed that article is biased in favour of the theory) and casting into doubt the estimated 30.000 victims of state terrorism (torture, disappearance followed by death) (also warning that that article uses the name the military junta gave this process) during its duration.
Since he took over six months ago, the population's purchasing power has dropped by 38%, plunging millions of people below the line of poverty. In stark contrast to this, Milei has been travelling around the world using public funds to visit his ultraright idols; most notably, Trump, who is not the political leader of any country at the moment (making his trip to see him a personal visit and not a diplomatic one, thus invalidating his arguments for using our money to go there).
On the subject of diplomacy, his government has been swinging quite a lot of bats at hornets' nests, accusing China and Brazil of communism and insulting the wife of the president of Spain. All of this is an international relations nightmare that will take endless apologies to undo.
Another interesting resolution deregulates the operations of foreign companies, SPVs, and offshore companies (article in Spanish), with the stated goal of attracting investments. Those types of companies have historically been used to conceal illicit activity, so resolutions in that vein pave the way to effectively turn Argentina into a fiscal paradise. This isn't the only problem they pose (offshore companies don't pay taxes, so there'd be a loss in the public sector, for example), but it is the most worrying to me because they also eliminated restrictions for Sociedades de Acciones Simplificadas (simplified stock companies), most of which have historically been used to commit crimes among which is the drug trade. Once you have narcos in your country, there's no taking it back--Argentina would be at real risk of ceasing to exist as we know it.
This administration is also slashing public spending, resulting in some universities suspending their activities temporarily. They also failed to deliver oncological medicine, depriving cancer patients of assistance the state is obligated to provide. As a result of this, several people have died already. In this climate of extreme poverty, soup kitchens have been shutting down en masse due to the withdrawal of state funding, and laws that protected tenants' rights and regulated rent prices have been severely modified to the detriment of the tenants.
The violent decrease in public spending also resulted in thousands of state workers being fired overnight. The attack is especially centred on state organisations that promote the arts or whose purpose is to fight discrimination. On this subject, 10% of the transgender and travesti workers who had their positions guaranteed by the law were fired illegally, and government members are outspoken about their opposition to this law--which isn't surprising. Diana Mondino, the current chancellor, has compared same-sex marriage to "the right to having lice" while she held a position in Congress. Ricardo Bussi, a current legislator, compared homosexuality to disability in October 2023. Coming to this year, Francisco Sánchez, the Secretary of Religion, said that the laws protecting the right to abortions, divorce, and same-sex marriage "seek to pervert our children and damage society". Milei is also on record describing abortion as "homicide aggravated by the bond".
Also recently, Milei's biographer, Nicolás Márquez, gave a one-hour interview in which he characterised homosexuality as a disease, claiming that when the State "promotes homosexuality" (as it allegedly did before Milei came to power), it is aiding a "self-destructive" conduct, supporting these claims with unfounded statistics about the correlation between STIs and homosexuality; he also denied the existence of homophobia and described lesbians and gays as being "against nature". For the sake of full disclosure, I will say he explicitly freed Milei and his government of responsibility for his declarations--but I think it's really important to point out the kind of people and rhetorics this government is giving a platform to; after all, nobody knew Nicolás Márquez before he started writing for Milei. In approximately the same time frame, and in response to a horrific hate crime that resulted in the death of three lesbians, Manuel Adorni, the presidential spokesman, said that he "doesn't like" to talk about a hate crime because men suffer violence too--and he said this in a press conference.
I'm probably forgetting something important--so much has happened in the past months--but I hope this is enough to give you an impression of the changes our society is undergoing. Please let me know if you have follow-up questions. <3

The U.S. share price of Logitech International SA fell by 3.6 percent between the high point on Tuesday, and the low point on Wednesday, after a journalist claimed the Titan submersible which went missing while diving to the Titanic had been controlled by a Logitech gamepad.
what do you do about news reporting like this, if you want to be honest?
to the best of my knowledge, everything in that paragraph is strictly true. stock did in fact go down by that amount, a journalist did say the Titan submersible was controlled by a logitech gamepad, and I think the chronology of which event happened after which is accurate, though don't take my word for it.
here's another thing that's true: logitech stock dropped a comparable amount (about 3.8%) between june 16 and june 20 (there was no trading on 17-19 because of the long weekend). Logitech stock dropped way more, 12%, between june 13 and june 14. the stock market goes up and down all the time. that's sort of what it does.
I don't know what's a reasonable amount for logitech stock to swing every day. I could download some data and do some statistics on it, but I haven't, and I won't. Maybe you do; good for you. For everyone who doesn't, we're sort of left trying to infer context from news reporting, and if you tried to do that, an inference you might make is "the news is bothering to talk about it, so it must be a noticeable swing down, and this other news event is being mentioned in the same sentence, so it must be related, so I think the titan sub incident caused a major drop in stock price for logitech".
I think this inference is incorrect, or at least not supported by any evidence I've seen. I also think the article I'm quoting is written as it is because they want to suggest the inference to you while not strictly speaking saying anything false, and I think that's dishonest.

So TotK seems to be clicking where BotW wasn't. Any insight on what the key differences are that work for you?
note: i played botw up until the calamity ganon fight and then went "yeah ok ive played a zelda game before", put it down and never went back. didnt play the dlc
i dont think anyone would be surprised to know that im a "majoras mask was the best zelda" guy but the reason has little to do with the "darker tone" or the lore but because reusing assets allowed the dev team to greatly (GREATLY in this case holy shit) expand on the actual contents of the game itself. i love gold/silver best for the same reason.
botw is like running around an empty movie set. theres nothing in that fucking game. at the time, due to the proliferation of crafting mechanics infesting literally every AAA game, it felt like nintendo was more focused about hitting all the checks on a checklist of tired mechanics that were included just for the sake of saying they had it. crafting! weapon durability! open world! pbbbbt.
none of these things proved to be enjoyable to me. keeping in mind that ive been playing zeldas since the snes (skipping only a handful of handheld games), the changes felt like steps away from what makes zelda games unique. crafting felt like an arbitrary step between me and potions. i wanted to swing my master sword with power, not experiment with clumsy weapons that stop existing after i finally get a feel for them. and the open world, frankly sucked.
mm rewarded me for my curiosity. experimentation and exploration would lead to interesting or gratifying results (did you know theres a paper airplane in ikana canyon...). botw is like playing in the window xp background. theres barely any landmarks, except shrines, or anything to do outside of getting the yiga clan's ass. theyre easy to pick out because theyre literally the only people on the road. the world is put to waste; i cant play with it, i can just observe and be extremely artificially hindered by its vastness.
this doesnt really fit anywhere else in the above open world rant, but trading the shrines for small and sparce dungeons was a huge let down. i was hoping for a series of cohesive puzzles intended to help my mastery of my newest weapon or ability. you know. like a zelda game
totk fixed this and every other problem in the best way possible; the devs dumped a ton of toys into my playpen, gave me a hot glue gun, and told me to go buck wild. i love to build a horrible contraption to solve my stupid problems or kill me instantly. i love that experimenting with weapons involves actual experimentation if you desire or you can have an inventory exclusively full of spear type weapons with vastly different properties by gluing a bunch of rocks or monster parts to it. but most importantly....the "stock up->head out->explore->return" loop no longer feels like i have to go to the dmv over and over.
sure, the depths are artificially large in the way that the map in botw was; theres not a lot to do except reveal the map and do plot stuff. but the overworld was given a complete overhaul using the empty map as a starting point. theres actually stuff to look at, ruins to explore, caves to investigate, holes to jump into, and all that shit in the sky to explore. the sky map might be sparse but its meticulously crafted so that just the process of explorating the archipelagos feels like a puzzle you need to solve, as opposed to a hurdle you have to jump.
there is so much more to do in totk that im pretty sure im over 20 hours in and havent done any of the regional main quests. ive been running around picking up side quests, uncovering the map, exploring the depths, fucking around in the sky, and dying my clothes. but its not annoying or overwhelming. it feels more alive and less like a weird map in an abandoned gmod server. im having fun.
for crit: imo, one of the biggest criticisms i have for both these games is that the voice acting is horrendous. nintendo has too much money to be tapping people who sound like they just got out of the shenmue soundbooth. zelda was not improved by voice acting and they should probably go back to everyone just having short exclamations like "HEH HEEH!" or "hmmm...".
also link doesnt roll anymore and its really fucking me up. im really struggling here lol. i keep trying to do dark souls shit and every fight involves me accidentally zooming in with the sheikah slate instead of locking on, hitting l1 istead of shield, and whistling for my horse instead of drinking estus.
also nerf rain

Exes and Woahs
Author's Note/Description: This is just a silly little idea I had where Brezziana gets her heart broken by some ass... some ass Jack knows more than he would like to;) (And yes the Exes name is Valentino because of that one Years And Years song it's one of my favorites and it's currently stuck in my head oki)
Currently very sick so if this fic seems like a fever dream it probably was anyway-
Jack was perfectly cozy and content on the coach, reading a book with the early evening light coming from the window making him feel warm inside and out. He had been trading between his friends' Danceverses, and Brezziana had insisted he stay with her for a little. Dancity was busy and constantly full of excitement, but in the evening all of that died down and you could feel peace and tranquility rest on the Danceverse. It was soothing to Jack's soul.
Jack's reading was interrupted when he heard a disturbance outside. Looking out the window, he could see Brezziana talking with an unknown figure in a very animated way. Talking wasn't the best way to put it. Screaming obscenities was better.
He couldn't see who the other person was, but Brezziana took one last swing at the guy before stocking inside of the house and slamming the door. Jack could not make out a single word she was saying as she stared at the door with watery eyes. Finally she took a shake breath and slammed her back on the door, taking shaky breaths and descending into messy tears as she lowered herself to the door floor.
Jack stared at her, dumbfounded for a moment. He had to say something.
"Uhhh... Brezz, you ok?"
Brezziana nearly jumped out of her skin with a startled scream. She saw Jack on the couch and took a deep breath.
"Christ Jack, forgot you were there."
"You uh... you wanna talk about it?"
"No." Brezziana stared into the distance, gripping her arm so hard she was sure to lose blood circulation. She shook her head, tears starting to run freely down her cheeks. "Yes."
Jack had no time to respond before the Dancer threw herself onto the coach and started to sob unto his shoulder. He started to pat her back in what he hoped was a soothing manner. Whenever Brezziana hugged him, it was because she wanted to support him and let him know he was one of them. That's how she had always been. If the conversation somehow turned to Mother, she was quick to change it. If he ever seemed drained or overstimulated, she was quick to make sure he had peace and quiet and time to rest. She had even gotten weighted blankets and soothing teas and herbs in her house in preparation for Jack's visit. Jack had always wanted to pay her back for her kindness, but never knew how. He guessed this was one way to show his appreciation, he just was never great at being the shoulder to cry on. He hoped he was doing ok.
"5 months!!!" Brezziana cried into his shoulder. "5 months of me pouring everything into that man and what does he do?? He cheats on me!!! With one surfer girl from Sun Horizon, one carnival act from Carnivalium, and that stupid blonde reporter guy from Winterhaven!!! 3 different people!!! He's nothing but a-but a-" She hid her face back into Jack's shoulder and started cussing the guy out in Spanish. Or at least, that's what Jack assumed she was saying from the sound of her tone.
"God, the guy sounds like a douche." Nice one Jack. Gotta put that on your resume. Performer, Danceverse hero, and as of recently, worst therapist in all of Dancity.
Brezziana was silent for a little before giving a dejected sniffle. "Total douche." She sat up and stared daggers at the ground with her red eyes. "Valentino Rivera, total douchebag."
Jack raised an eyebrow at that name. Had he heard that name correctly? He knew a Valentino Rivera. Better yet, he had dated a Valentino Rivera.
When he was about 17 Jack had decided to try to date online. It was the most rebellious thing he could do without his mom finding out. As long as he was careful enough.
Turns out, there was a really nice guy named Valentino that was from Eternyx. Jack used to sneak out as much as he could to secluded areas with Valentino. Valentino of course didn't know who his mom was, but that was ok. They used to talk about their future together, how they would run away from Eternyx and start their life again in a better Danceverse. Until 3 months later when Valentino ghosted Jack and moved to Dancity. Apparently Jack wasn't part of that equation after all.
Brezziana shook her head, scrubbing at her eyes. "The worst part about this is I owe Mihaly so much money."
Jack leaned back, a confident smirk on his face. "So what I'm hearing is that betting on the outcome of your shitty relationships is a quick and easy way to earn money, no?"
Brezziana nudged him in the shoulder. "No! Not you too!"
Jack stood up and dusted himself off before offering a hand to Brezziana. "Come on. I'm sure Wanderlust can find the guy's house in no time, if your down to egg it."
Brezziana accepted his hand with her usual mischievous smile. "Now that sounds like a plan."

How to Earn Money in Trading: Simple Strategies for Success
Tumblr media
Trading has become an increasingly popular way for people to grow their wealth and achieve their financial goals. Whether you're interested in forex trading, stocks trading, or crypto trading, there are opportunities to earn money by investing wisely. However, trading is not just about luck; it requires a rich mindset, a solid strategy, and a deep understanding of the markets. In this post, we’ll explore how to earn money in trading by focusing on key principles and strategies that can set you on the path to financial success.
Understanding the Basics of Trading
Tumblr media
Before diving into any form of trading, it's crucial to understand the basics. Trading involves buying and selling financial instruments like stocks, currencies, or cryptocurrencies with the aim of making a profit. Each type of trading—whether it's forex trading, stocks trading, or crypto trading—has its own unique characteristics and requires a different approach.
Forex Trading: It involves trading with currencies in the foreign exchange market. It’s one of the largest financial markets in the world, with trillions of dollars traded daily.
Stocks Trading: Here, you buy and sell shares of companies. The stock market can be volatile, but with careful analysis, it offers significant profit opportunities.
Crypto Trading: Cryptocurrency trading involves buying and selling digital currencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. It’s a rapidly growing market, known for its high volatility.
Setting Clear Financial Goals
Tumblr media
To earn money in trading, it's essential to set clear financial goals—like what do you wanna achieve through trading? Are you looking to build long-term wealth, or are you interested in making quick profits? Defining your financial goals will guide your trading strategy and help you stay focused.
For example, if your goal is to create a steady income stream, you might focus on stocks trading and dividend-paying stocks. If you're aiming for high-risk, high-reward opportunities, crypto trading could be more suitable.
Developing a Rich Mindset
Tumblr media
A rich mindset is critical for success in trading. This mindset is about being patient, disciplined, and focused on long-term success rather than short-term gains. Many new traders fail because they get caught up in the excitement of quick profits, leading to poor decisions and losses.
A rich mindset also involves continuous learning. The financial markets are constantly changing, and staying informed is key to making smart trading decisions. Whether you’re involved in forex trading, stocks trading, or crypto trading, always keep learning and adapting to new market conditions.
Choosing the Right Trading Strategy
Tumblr media
Your trading strategy will significantly impact your ability to earn money in trading. There are various strategies you can adopt depending on your financial goals and risk tolerance.
Day Trading: This involves buying and selling financial instruments within a single trading day. It's fast-paced and requires quick decision-making.
Swing Trading: Here, you hold positions for several days or weeks, aiming to profit from short- to medium-term price movements.
Long-Term Investing: This strategy involves holding onto investments for years, betting on the overall growth of the market.
Each strategy has its pros and cons, and the best one for you will depend on your trading style, market knowledge, and financial goals.
Risk Management is Key
Tumblr media
One of the most important aspects of earning money in trading is managing your risk. Even experienced traders face losses, but with proper risk management, you can minimize those losses and protect your capital.
Set stop-loss orders, never invest more than you can afford to lose, and always diversify your portfolio. Whether you’re engaged in forex trading, stocks trading, or crypto trading, understanding and managing risk is crucial for long-term success.
