Some of my favourite shots I took yesterday at @wwtslimbridge We saw a Marsh harrier in one of the hides for the first time which was amazing. In 1971, the Marsh Harrier was Britain's rarest breeding bird. Since then, numbers have steadily increased and today there are 590–695 breeding pairs of Marsh Harriers in Britain. #birds #slimbridge #wwt #feathers #wildlife #nature #ducks #waterfowl #mandarin #bewick #baerspochard #bhg #blackheadedgull #wetlands #water #photography #wildlife https://www.instagram.com/p/ClOqC3PKFU7/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

BOTD: Bewick's Wren
Photo: Becky Matsubara
"In dry thickets and open woods of the west, this is often a very common bird. Pairs of Bewick's Wrens (pronounced like 'Buick') clamber about actively in the brush, exploring tangles and bark crevices, waving their long tails about, giving harsh scolding notes at any provocation. In the east, this species is far less common, and it has vanished from most of its former range east of the Mississippi River."
