Durge trying to be a better person and falling in love with one of their companions, and then they go to the corronation and - OH SHIT - here come the memories of Gortash being the only one to actually treat Durge like a person rather than a weapon or a tool and there are just all these FEELINGS! But Gortash is also a horrible person and too far gone to be saved, but he still loves Durge and Durge still has all these FEELINGS but is also in love with their new companion and MY GODS PEOPLE THE DRAMA! THE STORYTELLING POTENTIAL! THE ANGST!

So I won a raffle over on Instagram and I was able to get this absolutely amazing piece of my darling Durge Arista! This is her “first kill” so to speak. I imagine most of her early life was fairly normal, occasional violent thoughts and impulses that she managed to deal with. Then one day while out in the forest she ended up being attacked and chased by a group of adults. Did they know what she was? Was she just unlucky? We’ll never know! But Bhaal saw a perfect opportunity to start her down the road to her “destiny.” Arista blacked out while being chased, and when she came to she was surrounded by dead bodies and covered in blood. The Butler was there to praise her and bring her to the temple and the poor dear was in shock, so she just followed him. And the rest is history!

Kyrell: *knitting but looks up to see Sceleritas's hat flying* Ugh, if his hat is here that means the rest of him is here... wait, hats don't fly.

Astarion: *walks in only to suddenly have a hat on his head* Bloody hells, what is this– *is cut off by his 2 year old daughter turning back into humanoid form... on top of his head and giggling*

Kyrell: Explains the flying hat, but Elanor, you're supposed to be in bed.

Astarion: It takes me 200 years to learn how to turn into a bat, and my daughter can do it at barely 2 years old. *has to catch her from falling off his head*

The Wood Elf Druid that raised Kai'mana!

I haven't thought up a name yet, lol, but I love the idea of her just finding baby Durge in the forest... maybe in some leaves or something, beneath some tree roots. Very faerie-tale like. She immediately considers it a gift from the Treefather and takes Kai'mana under her wing.

Maybe Sylvari? Or... Ithilwen.

Kai'mana, for those who don't know. She lost her eye to Volo, haha.

I loved the idea of a Dragonborn Druid, even more so as the Dark Urge, but it's like... especially kind of sad when you think about it, because Kai'mana's adoptive mother probably taught her the way of the druids specifically to try and balance out the murderous in her? Or to try and get her to understand why nature must be kept in balance? And why she shouldn't go about taking lives??? But sometimes she would lose control, and then she ended up with Gortash, and then the abduction happened.

It would certainly explain why Durge is so "soft" despite their dark urge, even before the memory loss.

Also have some random screenshots I took of my new Kai'mana playthrough because I made her Guardian Astra for funsies because I wanted to see my Tav and Durge on screen together. :3

Just finished my Dark Urge playthrough.

And i was so happy, to see you could keep your alliance with Gortash all the way through Act 3! That he didnt betray me the moment i brought him the other Netherstones.

I am however devasted at what happened when we faced the Netherbrain. Larain studios...when i catch you...

Why.

Why can't he stay by my side and be my evil best friend? Why can't we rekindle our bond? Start anew and own the world together? I mean, he probably would hate Durge for destroying the Netherbrain but why can't he show him that he can be free of Bane? The way he is free of Bhaal. Living and evil for himself!! Gaining glory for himself!!

Man, Bhaal literally pulls an "I brought you into this world, I can sure as fuck take you out of it again." if Durge denies him. Still thinking about that alongside the fact he can apparently just refuse to let Durge die altogether.

Anyways i do think we need to talk more about how withers is implied to be jergal the original god of death who does say if you reject bhaal that your durge cant die so long as withers who once again is heavily implied to be jergal (who while likely very much weakened as he was found in a temple that was barely recognizeable as a shrine to jergal) exists meaning that you can have redeemed durge lifespan angst
