Day 7 (21st November) Got new confidence and happily packed my bag to explore the temple town. Got my first lift of the day dropped me near railway station. The guy only had 10 minutes time to reach his office but still managed to drop me at a location. He also gave me his number and told if I want any help in bhuvaneshwar do call him. I never knew him but I don’t even think whether people like this exists that too being a stranger. From there walked my way to Anantha Vasudev temple. Ananta Vasudev temple is the talk of the town with people standing 100s in number for its Maha prasadam. Had my breakfast and moved my way to Lingaraja temple. Explore the temple and took some rest. Then went out for some street food hunt. I was searching a place which is famous for lassi. The asked a person in tea shop he told it is closed for the winter. I told him I have been searching this shop for 2 days but could not end up drinking it. He told just drink this nice tea of Odisha you will like it. I told okay let me try his out. He asked my story and I shared it with him. He asked whether I need something else to eat. He payed for my tea and said “once you are here in Odisha then you are one amongst us and we will take care of you like our family” I went speechless. He told have a nice day and left the place”. This is one of the best things that happened in my trip. Started to go around place and had the best papadi chat in town and few more dishes too. Photos follow. Situated in the Paralakhemundi sub-division in the #Gajapati district of Odisha and part of the enchanting Eastern Ghats, it's home to the second highest peak in Odisha, standing at 4923 feet. This verdant green hill has been picked up by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India to be developed as part of the Ramayana circuit, one of the fifteen thematic circuits included under the Swadesh Darshan programme. The hill is believed to have been referred to as 'Mahendra Parvata' in Ramayana where Parashuram practiced penance for a long time. There are a few temples on the hill, some of which are believed to have been built by the Pandavas later. It's also a biodiversity hotspot. Many species of medicinal plants are found here. Shivaratri is the main festival observed, when the place is filled with people. Mahendragiri is 51 kms to the south-West of #Brahmapur, 26 kms from the sea. From #Bhubaneswar, it's a 5.5 hrs drive via NH-16. Berhampur is the nearest big city (2.5 hrs away) and offers 3-star accomodation.
