Working on some practice sketches for another one of my Endangered & Vulnerable Series pieces. Snow Leopards; there are only about 6,000 in their natural habitat, most of the population is living in captivity. Their numbers dropped due to loss of habitat and hunting for their fur. Regardless of their name, they are related more closely to tigers than leopards. Such beautiful animals! . . #mnartist #artist #alittletouchofart #TLTart #TLT #sketchbookart #sketchbook #sketchpractice #snowleopard #snowleopardsketch #endangered&vulnerableseries #endangeredanimal #endangeredspecies #animalart #animalsketch #practicesketch #fargomoorhead #bigcatsketches (at Moorhead, Minnesota) https://www.instagram.com/p/B0zqvbDhMab/?igshid=1l73twwl6is6d

Guys, guys! Big day. Today is International Stiped Burrito Day. If you've been here for a while you probably know that tigers are my favourite animals, so here are some drawings to celebrate. I would love to know which one of these is your favourite, let me know in the comments! Three random facts just for fun: -tigers have the ability to make a wide variety of vocalizations. They use them depending on the disctance and the context. For example, they roar typically to attract attention/inform other tigers about their presence and location.  Mothers moans often to their young to get them follow their directions. Chuff is "hello there pal, it's good to see you" and is usually accompanied with the head bobbing movement (so sweet) and so on, so forth. They have very rich language! -tigers belongs to a group of "umbrella species", what means that they pay a key role in the ecosystem. By protecting them, we indirectly protects the many other species and their natural habitats -do you know that silly looking, wide smile with tongue out? This behavior is called flehmen. They do it to earn fragrance informations by using Jacobson's organ.
