For a fortnight past, the district around Madely Wood, Salop, has been in a state of intense excitement, by the alleged depredations committed by a gorilla, which is said to have escaped from a wild beast menagerie travelling to Bridgnorth. The animal was stated to have first made his appearance in the neighbourhood of that town, where in the darkness of the night it was severally seen by a clergyman and a policeman, both of whom fled. It is also said to have appeared at several places in the immediate neighbourhood. A few evenings since the occupier of a house in Madely Wood went to bed at a reasonable hour, with the greater portion of his family, leaving his “gude wife” up, who took the opportunity to visit a neighbour, leaving the door open and a candle burning. Returning in a short time, she was horrified at seeing a bent form, with a goodly array of gray hair around its face, crouching over the expiring embers of the fire, apparently warming itself, the light having gone out. Too frightened to shriek, she ran to her neighbours, who quickly armed themselves with pokers, iron bars, guns, and pitchforks and other instruments of a similar character, and marched in a body to capture the gorilla. The form was seen sitting at the fire, but evidently aroused by the approaching body, rose to its full height and revealed the figure of an eccentric character well known in the neighbourhood as “Old Johnny,” who seeing the door open had quietly walked in to light his pipe, accidentally “puffed” the candle out, and was very near being captured, if not exterminated, in mistake for an escaped gorilla. This photo is one of several taken Tuesday, July 11, 1995 by an off-duty forest patrol officer in the Wild Creek area near Mt. Rainier. It is one of 7 other photos purchased from the officer by Bigfoot investigator Cliff Crook. The ranger was out hiking and following up a lead on bear poachers in the area when he heard loud splashing sounds below him. He peeked over the ridge to investigate with camera in hand. Some of the photos taken are shaded and others are of excellent clarity.

“In the Wednesday, August 18, 1965, issue of the Independent (Long Beach, CA), a Page 2 headline read: “Search for the ‘Monster.’”

The Independent article featured a picture of seventeen-year-old Christine Van Acker who was sporting a black eye. The article chronicled an incident that occurred in southeastern Michigan involving a large, hairy monster.

According to the report, the previous Friday night, Van Acker and her mother were attacked by a “black, 7-foot, 400-pound, grunting “thing” covered in hair” while sitting in their car. The creature reached through the car window and grabbed Christine Van Acker’s hair and punched her in the eye. Van Acker said: “he was all hairy and the hairs were like quills. They pricked whenever I touched them.”

At least 15 other people claimed to see the creature. Locals reported seeing the monster off and on for about two months prior to the attack. The attack on Van Acker spawned a rash of monster hunts by the locals.”

Bigfoot is often linked with light orbs that unlike UFOS have appeared closer to the ground and closer to their area, and disappear quickly. These have also been documented in areas that are notorious Bigfoot hot-spots. These orbs are technically flying objects, but accounts of them appear distinct enough to keep in their own category. They have been reported seen before or after a Bigfoot sighting.

Bigfoot sightings are exciting events, often fleeting, frequently disorienting. When a Bigfoot sighting occurs, it seems to break people out of their everyday understanding of what is real and what isn’t. That disturbing experience is made even more disturbing by the fact that such sightings are often accompanied by UFOs in the sky and/or orbs of light travelling through the forest. 

This coupling of paranormal encounters is difficult to explain, and many UFOlogists and Bigfoot researchers do not like to follow the line of questioning that arises. Because both groups experience so much discrimination and rejection from the scientific community, the instinct in both camps is mainly to distance themselves from any other group dealing in controversial research. 

Once you add in the potential link to extraterrestrial life or the world of paranormal, things get a lot more complicated for both Ufologists and Bigfoot researchers. And while many lay people who believe in one are not hesitant to entertain the existence of the other, they are also fighting to bring legitimacy to their respective fields, which they feel will be impossible if they combine together. Which will also continue to prevent them both from gaining access to the institutions, tools, and resources that might come to their research should they become legitimized.

“I have been hunting, working in the woods since I was very young. I grew up in western Maryland, and western Pennsylvania. I had 2 different sightings in the western Pa. This is part of the Appalachian Mts. I was a teenager at the time of these sightings. Years later, I was living in Va. I went hunting in the mountains around skyline drive, this is state game lands. I was near a place called the devil's ditch on the mountain early one morning during muzzle loader season, just as I tried my seat to a tree, I heard what sounded like trees being broken. It sounded like multiple trees being snapped off. Then a few minutes later I heard what sounded like large rocks , more like boulders being thrown down the hill. I could not see anything ,because it was just getting daylight. I have never had anything happen in all my years in the woods. I went back down the mountain ,and never went to this area again.”

Researcher, Gayle J. Beatty, says she was informed of a sighting on Thursday, July 2 when she received a phone call from a woman in Dutchess County who was working as a landscaper on a property in Hyde Park.

The woman described the creature as being approximately 6-foot-7 in height and reddish-brown and said it moved through trees "like a monkey," according to Beatty.

The incident happened after the woman, who had been weeding the garden, was told to dump the weeds down a trail a couple of hundred feet behind the barn,

weeds, the wheelbarrow dropped, making a loud noise, the woman said.

 "Suddenly, from approximately 50-feet away, she sees and hears something crashing through the thick vegetation, parting the brush towards her," according to Beatty. 

Beatty said the creature then jumped in the tree above her, leaving the woman in "shock and disbelief," as it began "using its arms to swing from tree to tree moving away from her."

Beatty said she has had several reports from the Hyde Park area over the last few years leading her to believe "there is a clan living there."

Bigfoot Sighting in 2007 in Alger County Missouri

“At first we just looked at each other and kept walking. Then we heard it again and it was a little louder. We hesitated and I asked her if she heard that. She said yes. We looked in the direction of the noise and sure enough. There was a stick banging back and forth between two trees that were in a growth of trees. It was a large stick and you could see the end of it very well so it had to be sticking straight out. I'd guess it was about six and a half feet up the tree you could see it. Just before the banging stopped there was a glimpse of something dark that couldn't be identified. It seemed to be standing up from leaning over. As fast as that, the noise stopped and I wasn't able to see anymore.

The witness also stated that they did not go and investigate further. There was also no smell or any sort of fear associated with their encounter.”

Chinese to probe wild men HONG KONG (AP) - A crack team of scientific investigators will check reports of wild human beings roaming the mountains in northwestern Hubei province in central China, it was reported yesterday. The reports of yeren as the wild human beings or savages are called have aroused considerable interest among Chinese scientists. A government radio broadcast said the investigators will go in. late May to the mountain areas in Shennongjia and Fang counties where the sighting of yeren had been reported. - ' A translation of last Wednesday's broadcast, made available in Hong Kong yesterday, did not describe the creatures but said previous surveys of the areas resulted in the discovery of "invaluable hair, excrement and footprints left behind by savages."
