Megan Thee Stallion...Yet another missed opportunity for the Grammys to recognize an artist that has been working hard, and had an incredible 2019. First of, if you’re the kind of person that doesn’t want to hear about sex, is afraid of it, believe it’s wrong, should never be spoken of publicly...especially by a woman...Megan Thee Stallion isn’t your girl. Stay far, far away from Hot Girl Meg. However, if sexual liberation is your thing, and autonomy and agency are things you want to hear preached with no filter, Meg is here for you. Megan comes from Houston, Texas and you can hear that southern edge in her music. The energy and confidence she brings to her delivery is infectious. Every time I play one of her songs, I come away from it feeling like I’m on top the world, and I’m control of my next move.

Starting off with a crisp sample of R&B boy band Immature’s “Is It Love This Time?”, Megan takes off stating what she likes, and how she operates when it comes to sex. She’s a single, independent woman who knows what she wants, and is cocky about it. Her auto-tune assisted singing on the hook goes over well, and all in all...this shit slaps hard on the speakers.

Megan’s flow and her delivery, as well as her wordplay set her apart from her peers. Although she is pretty consistent content-wise (she’s not rapping about politics, that’s for sure), she knows how to put a good verse together, and she is authentically herself. That’s what I love about her.
