Summary: Prince Loki of Asgard is in need of a date to take back home. That’s where you come in with a task of your own to make the whole trip with an insufferable prince worth it. Too bad that things don’t always go as planned and you end up giving more than you can take. Fake-Dating AU.
A/N: Thanks for your comments, everyone! The last update certainly brought the drama and I know I broke some hearts but it will be resolved! I promise! Only three parts left! With some bonus scenes too!

Loki had told you to leave. In fact, he yelled at you to leave. As if you had been a hindrance to him and perhaps you are for having convinced him to continue with the lie to this exact point.
You’re stupid.
Incredibly stupid to have thought that this could ever work.
Loki did not love you. Maybe he cared, but he did not love you. You mistook his friendliness for love and now you were suffering the consequences.
You’re humiliated and worst of all you’re alone in a random hallway of the palace far away from the home that you know and love. A home that hadn’t made you suffer like your time spent in Asgard.
Yes, you’re a half-breed, a demi-god, a girl split between two realms.
You’re also an orphan. A traveler with no sense of direction. A flower with no roots.
Most importantly, you’re a heartbroken fool who thought that a royal prince could ever find you worthy of his love.
You didn’t know where to go. You don’t know where you were meant to go. You were too focused on trying to keep the tears at bay to formulate a plan at the moment. All you desired at the moment was to leave this realm once and for all and forget everything that’s happened here.
So why not? Why not leave the realm once and for all? It was what Loki desired just a day ago and for good reason. He had tried to spare you the heartbreak and you had still asked for it.
You pick up your silk skirt once again and start to run.
You somehow manage to find yourself back at the royal stables but any luck you had, which was not much to begin with in the first place, is all gone as the Lady Sif looks up at you in clear surprise.
“What are you doing here?” you ask. “Shouldn’t you be at the celebration like everyone else?”
“Someone has to keep guard,” she answers before glancing at your gown. “What’s your excuse? Isn’t it for your honor?”
You don’t know how to respond. You may be upset but you weren’t ready to let all your feelings out to the first person you found. Especially to someone who showed her clear distaste to the man you loved.
“I had to get out of there,” you answer. “I just… It’s not what it turned out to be.”
“So you came to the stables?” she asks, confused.
Your impromptu plan was falling apart all because of a nosy knight.
“Look, I just came for a ride so if you don’t mind…”
You try to move past her but she’s quick to catch your arm.
“You’re very upset,” she notes. “What did Loki do?”
“Why do you think he had something to do with this?”
“Because I know him.”
“Well, it’s clear that you don’t,” you argue. “He… He did nothing. This was all me.”
You let out a sigh knowing you wouldn’t get anywhere without revealing the truth.
“I fell in love with him, and he didn’t,” you confess. “My heartbreak is my own to blame.”
Surprisingly, Sif relents and lets you go.
“I understand,” she whispers. “The princes have a certain allure, don’t they?”
It takes you a second to realize who she’s referring to.
“Oh,” you answer. “You and…”
“Yes, and we don’t have to speak about it,” Sif remarks sharply before softening. “I’m sure you don’t.”
“I don’t,” you agree. “But I love him and he doesn’t which is why I can’t be here anymore. I have to get out of here.”
“So where do you wish to go?” Sif asks as she pulls her horse out of the stable. “I’ll take you.”
“The Bifrost,” you state ignoring her obvious surprise. “I wish to go home.”
Tumblr media
The moment you left the royal hall, Loki turned to his enraged father. He did not dare to offer an explanation until you were far enough away from the scene. Loki hated himself for having to raise his voice at you but it was better than the alternative. You didn’t deserve to be caught in the aftermath of his lie. You didn’t deserve to be hated by Asgard and incur Odin’s wrath because of him.
“Tell the musicians to start,” Loki orders the nearby servant as he hands the case holding the apple for him to take. “And keep the guests away from the throne room.”
With that order done, Loki turns to his silent and angry Odin.
“My father and I wish to discuss in private.”
Odin refrains from snapping at him as Frigga comes into his vision. Just a gentle touch from his wife seems to bring him back from the brink of disaster and allows for Odin to be led into the nearby throne room without uttering a word.
“Now, son,” Frigga begins calmly. “Please explain to us why you’ve caused such disruption on a day like this?”
Loki looked between his mother and Odin unsure of how to speak the truth he had evaded and ignored for so long.
“I lied,” Loki states simply. “I’ve been lying to you this whole time. The courtship and now this engagement…”
Loki pauses and looks at Odin with a sigh.
“You were right,” he whispers. “I made a deal with her to fake a courtship with me and she accepted.”
He can’t help but laugh now, bitterly. It drove him mad trying to figure out when things had suddenly gone wrong. At what moment were fake emotions became real and true.
“And now… Now, things have become such a mess,” Loki exhales as his dark humor fades away. “Such a mess and I have no idea how to fix it because I love her. I love her with my entire being and she doesn’t even know. She doesn’t know that I would follow her till the end of the universe if it meant I could be by her side always.”
Loki turns away from them, his hands shaking, and he doesn’t know why he's confessed more than he had to.
“I love her,” Loki whispers. “And because I love her, I couldn’t force her to take a bite from the Apple of Idunn. She already detests time for having taken her away from her family, a home, and… love. How could I let her take a bite of that apple when it is the last thing she wishes for herself?”
“It was not your decision to make…”
Loki is surprised by this calm response from Odin prompting him to turn around to finally face him. His father’s wrath was gone, replaced by gentle understanding. As if the patient wisdom that Odin’s always described with finally made itself known in Loki’s presence.
“The gift I offered was for the Lady Y/N,” Odin continues. “She should have been the one to accept or reject it, not you.”
Loki opens his mouth to argue but Odin raises his hand to stop him before he could even utter a word.
“No, no, it’s time for you to listen to me now,” Odin interrupts him. “I’ve known all along the game you were playing, Loki. The timing of it all was too convenient to be true, but the lies and stories you wove to explain it all were convincing. They were convincing because in brief moments of clarity you two were speaking the utmost truth about the way you perceived and felt for each other.”
Odin glances over to Frigga who offers him a small smile.
“When I spoke to Lady Y/N after the incident of your tournament match, a tactic I hoped to unveil the trickery you were pulling, she met me strong and unafraid. She further revealed the loyalty and trust she held for you as she defended you quite strongly.”
“I already know this,” Loki tells him.
“I know you do, but what you don’t know is what she told me afterward.”
Loki waits for Odin to tell him but the Allfather remains silent.
“What? What did she tell you?”
“That, my son, is something you will have to hear from her,” Odin answers with a hidden smile. “I have spoken more than enough on her behalf. I believe it is time you have an audience with her. Tell her how you feel and allow her to do the same.”
Loki doesn’t trust Odin’s genuineness in the situation but a glance to his mother reveals that he should as Frigga nods for him to go.
“We will make excuses for you and Y/N’s absence in the hall,” Frigga tells him. “Go after her!”
Loki doesn’t need to be told twice as he quickly runs out of the throne room in search of you. There were many places you could be hiding in, but Loki doesn’t get the chance to look at any of them as a flashing of lights on the horizon catches his attention.
The Bifrost.
You were already gone.

Hey! What do you think of OPM season 2? I still love it & am looking forward to next weeks new episode but i just wish Saitama had more screen time ;-(
hey nonny~!
apologies for the late reply, its a combo of not getting notifications (tumblr u useless trashbucket) and being on surgery rotation (i miss sleeping so much)
firstly, i am truly glad you still love it and look forward to the new episodes!!! 💖💖💖please dont let anything i say from this point on dissuade you from that enjoyment
THAT BEING SAID
///cut for length
ive only watched up to the second episode, and i am having Such Difficulties convincing myself to keep watching. i know my rxns to ep 1 were overall pretty positive and I stand by it but the more i watch the more the Cringe/Hypercritique starts take over.
Turns out, the art style had a bigger impact than i thought on the length of which i enjoy shows. personally, i just really like when anime/shows have a happy marriage between writing and artwork. and when show directors know how to interpret writing, how to set up a scene (the angle, the music, the pacing), and then communicate with artists who have the skills to bring that idea to life using the medium they’re given -- that’s when writing becomes storytelling. OPM’s writing is still fantastic since they’re going off ONE (whereas GoT has the opposite problem where the production value is 4K and the writing is early 2000s livejournal/fanfiction lol god why is everyone dropping the ball in 2019??)
As for the art, since opm switched to jc staff and shingo natsume & co. left for other projects ( ;;_____;; im emo ), its inevitable we would see a drop in animation quality and i find myself constantly getting distracted by things i never used to get concerned about in the first season (bc of the high bar of expectations set by s1 artists/directors, like theres just no way jc staff would match up it to all of that and i feel bad for them, they’re trying their best but that doesn’t mean theyre immune to critique on the artistic liberties that they’ve taken that i feel as a viewer, may not have been the best choice?)
the shading: no, just, unnecessary and distracting and why is it the center of saitamas face, im by far no expert in lighting but a bish can tell something doesnt look right???
the shading pt II: color choices. just gonna say i was not expecting sai’s ‘hair shirt’ in ep 1 to be bright-ass neon green, it was a little jarring at first and i miss him in red ;-; i get hes supposed to have poor fashion choices but i dont see him as the type to pick something that stands out so much in the crowd, like he likes to be left alone. NEON doesnt really relay ‘hi dont mind me im just barely existing here lol’
the shading pt III: genos arms/neck. okaY so the bby looks good in screenshots. like he’s shiny and nice to look at when nothings moving. bUT this is animation?? movement of objections is different from still life manga so making every single scene almost 99% like murata’s panels translates a little awkwardly to the screen (like staff is lucky bc murata’s a force of nature with his panels playing out like a movie for ref). but when genos moves, the arms are just distracting bc everything around him is drawn simply without shadows so they stand out by themselves and i (visually) forget about the rest of him haha.
the pacing: it feels scripted, person A says this so we’ll show person A in the shot, then person B is saying something so we have to cut to person B, etc etc like keeping pretty steady to manga lines to the point where i was starting to get bored bc i knew what was coming. it was really intervaled? like someone had to be saying something at a certain effect and i think s1 had more dramatic pauses (lol) but thats how you can place emphasis on scenes to have an emotional impact if the character doesnt say anything and just let the soundtrack do some talking and the cadence of the script will change too (im 10000% talking about the sunset scene in s1 god bless. like it was slow, there was MOOD there wasn’t any rush and really gave the viewer time to think about the relationship between the two characters and what that moment meant to each of them) i feel like there were several scenes that could have been more like in the scene where sai protected fubuki, could have been a little more dramatically emphasized (aka just a pause) so the viewer could get a chance to understand that he purprosefully shielded her or when genos says that strong heroes are drawn to saitama--bUT nope its the same pace, like c l o c k w o r k just like my t eARS--
the fight scenes: how do i even start. the one scene that got me INTO opm (like watching the anime, reading the manga, drawing fanart, writing fanfic, reading fanfics etc) was kickstarted by the fight scene between genos and saitama in s1 that was circulating on tumblr a while back. i thought the characters were interesting and the fight was badass and it just looked SO COOL. (also the forehead flick at the end just kinda sealed my fate). going from that to s2 fight scenes where its mostly cut scenes and freeze scenes?? where theres a cut out behind the characters back?? during a fight scene????? this isn’t a calling card or an anime opening??? i dont understand. when they dont do cut scenes, its interesting but my initial impression is just underwhelmed. i can find good parts but it feels like i have to replay the scene to notice it? theres also an overwhelming amount of graphics/cgi manipulation that overpowers the actual art sometimes. its lacking some of the fluidity that comes from hand drawn fight scenes from first season. OTL
the sound directing: so i thought that the mood just felt off for certain scenes and the sound didn’t seem to support the scene as well (unless it was like the character’s theme or smtg) and i looked it up and the sound director was also replaced (Yoshikazu Iwanami replacing Shoji Hata). i have no idea if the sound director is also in charge of character lines but there were parts were fubuki was monologuing and i had no idea she was inner monologuing, i thought she was talking out loud and that just took extra effort on my part to re-orient myself (im nitpitcking i know but its just how i watch shows lol)
there are still some parts i like about the animation:
fubuki looks bangin and i love her👌👗
all of this just made me realize how insanely lucky we were to have an amazing s1 and just have it exist and how i really could not care less if they had just waited forever to make s2 as long as we had the same crew come back. but anime is still a business and the quicker they dish out merch/seasons, the more money they can bring in. which they do in the short run but they would bring in more if they spent a little more on quality in the long run and it becomes one of those classics that ppl will rewatch and keep recommending to ppl who want to get into anime and oh my god we’re never gonna have that now, are we. if im gonna rec it to a friend its gonna be ‘read the manga!’ or ‘just watch s1!’ uGH. its just an unfortunate situation, its not one person’s fault either, so many factors go into what made opm s1 so spectacular and seeing s2 just made me appreciate s1 more. i guess im happy to have a s2 regardless?
i’ll still watch to support (and bc i like suiryuu and wanna see sai in a karate gi and wig lol). maybe i just have to get used to the new style.
so in summary,

“You don’t know who your father is?!”
You let out a sigh at the sound of Loki’s alarmed voice in the room. You had failed to notice his appearance and you blamed the magical doors that apparently allowed anyone inside without hesitation.
“Have you ever heard of knocking?” you ask. “Perhaps maybe privacy?”
“You had me believe you knew who your father was,” Loki states in annoyance.
“It’s not my fault you fell for my lie,” you shrug confused as to why he was so worked up by your revelation. “Though it really wasn’t a lie. You made an assumption and didn’t think of confirming it.”
Loki rolls his eyes at your technicality not amused at your current tactic to get under his skin.
“Then what is the purpose of all this? Why are you even here?”
“Because I do want information on my father such as who he is,” you clarify. “And I want to meet him.”
“I didn’t sign up for this...”
“Yes, you did! You made a deal!”
Loki opens his mouth to argue this further but Frigga steps in.
“You two are being quite loud,” Frigga calmly states. “I understand that this revelation isn’t what we were all hoping for but we must plan accordingly. Y/N is still in need of your protection, Loki, and because you made a deal with her, you will honor it.”
Frigga turns to look at you with a promising expression.
“We will find who your father is and we will protect you along the way.”
“Thank you,” you whisper.
Frigga nods in response and turns back to look at Loki.
“Now, why have you come unannounced to my chambers, son?” Frigga asks. “You interrupted a private conversation.”
Loki scowls at being reprimanded but doesn’t comment on it.
“Odin has asked for Y/N,” Loki states. “He wishes for our courtship to follow Asgardian traditions which means…”
“He wants to offer his blessing,” Frigga frowns. “And more…”
You scowl at the addition and wonder what you could have possibly signed up for. As if sensing your concern, Frigga turns to you and offers you an encouraging smile.
“Don’t fret,” she tells you. “All will be explained.”
This doesn’t assure you at all. Being called to speak to Odin about your courtship with no preparation at all was just a recipe for disaster.
“Now you two get going,” Frigga orders. “If you waste more time, Odin will grow suspicious.”
You don’t need to be told twice and Loki is quick to offer his arm for you to take. You slip your hand to the crook of his arm and allow him to escort you out. The silence you’re met with after should have been a reprieve except you knew Loki was still reeling from your revelation.
“I’m sorry I tricked you,” you find yourself apologizing to him. “I just… I knew this would be the reaction.”
“I don’t care.”
“Well it seems like you do,” you point out. “You’re upset.”
Loki’s scowl deepens and you don’t understand why he’s taken such offense.
“Why are you so upset?”
“I’m tired of people making a fool of me,” Loki grits out as he glared down at you. “I may be the God of Lies but that doesn’t mean I enjoy being lied to.”
“You know you’re being hypocritical seeing as you lied to me first,” you argue. “You manipulated me into this courtship by withholding vital information. Your mother herself said you even have your own selfish reasons in doing so… so don’t act so hurt when I’ve been playing this game the same way you are.”
Loki’s glare is still intense but the tension in his body disappears. You had a point. You knew you had a point. And you knew he hated that you were right.
“We will discuss this later,” Loki sighs out. “For now, act happy and in love with me.”
You immediately take a deep breath and smile softly up at him.
“Is that loving enough for you?”
“You’re insufferable,” Loki mutters as he turns away from you. “Now keep up. We’re about to have quite an audience.”
You hope he’s lying to you this time, but he isn’t. The moment you enter the courtyard, there is a brief moment of silence before whispers take its place. All eyes are on you and Loki causing you to hold on to him a little tighter.
Surprisingly enough, he looks down at you with a soft smile and raises your hand to press a light kiss on it. You almost believe he’s being sincere but you are reminded that this is all a lie. Either way, the act eases you enough that you are able to ignore the whispers that uttered your name and continue forward.
Loki leads you to the throne room where you find King Odin waiting. He remains as serious as you first met him. His gaze picking you apart in the few seconds that you’ve been in his presence.
“Lady Y/N,” he greets.
“Your majesty,” you greet in return as you offer a slight bow.
“Thank you for coming,” Odin states, his expression never wavering. “It seems like my son left a few details out last night when we first met.”
You can’t help but glance over at Loki unsure of how you were meant to respond to that.
“Odin, do not accuse her…”
You squeeze Loki’s arm in alarm. You didn’t know what you would do if they both got into an argument at this moment.
“Forgive me… forgive us for keeping the information secret. It was a decision we both agreed on when Loki decided to bring me to Asgard,” you interrupt him. “We were… We were unsure of how you would take it and in all honesty, I was scared enough to be here as a guest. Loki didn’t want to add more onto my plate so we decided to keep this to ourselves.”
Odin hums at your response. His expression softening slightly as he considered your words.
“I can’t forgive you,” Odin states, causing you and Loki to tense in alarm. “For there is nothing to forgive you for. I understand your unique situation and I wish nothing but happiness for the both of you. That said, you have my blessing under one simple condition.”
You glance over at Loki in apprehension but he just scowls in annoyance.
“Your relationship may be advanced in Midgardian tradition but I wish to see it under the structure of courtship in Asgard.”
Loki lets out an exasperated sigh but knew better than to argue with Odin at the moment.
“There will be certain traditions I hope you may follow,” Odin explains with a smile that you can’t help but believe be of amusement. “We will start simple with an act of gift giving and then progress to banquets so you may introduce your relationship to Asgardian society. From there, well… we shall see if you’ll reach the next stage.”
You try to make sense of what he’s requesting. It seems simple enough that you don’t understand why Odin believed your lie would collapse before then.
“Loki honoring our tradition, you will give Lady Y/N a blade crafted for her use only,” Odin states. “As for you, Lady Y/N, it is tradition that a woman shall give her partner a handmade shirt for him to wear. You will show off these gifts of affection on your first banquet which will be two nights from now.”
That was a quick turnaround and you now realized the king was hoping to set you up to fail. You didn’t understand the urgency of doing so but you knew that those secrets that Loki has been hiding were most likely the answer to your question.
“I hope that won’t be too much trouble.”
You were not someone so easily scared off and you enjoyed a good challenge here and there.
“Not at all,” you respond to Odin as you offer him a smile. “If this is what you wish, then so be it.”
Odin seems to realize that you were no stranger with a battle of authority. Perhaps you and Loki were a true match if that were the case.
“If that is all, Odin, we wish to retire to our rooms,” Loki states. “It has been quite a day.”
“Ah yes, you may take your leave,” Odin responds watching as Loki escorts you out. The moment the doors are about to be open he speaks again. “There should be no need of me to remind you that though you may be sharing a room, your actions have consequences. Please do try to avoid another scandal.”
Loki drags you away at Odin’s parting words in fear that you might bite his head off at the accusation made. He was right in doing so as your face had grown red in a mix of embarrassment and anger.
“Your father’s an ass.”
Loki could only laugh in agreement.
