when i write something i tend to have a goal, or actually a specific moment or scene, i aim toward. for this specific scene in stepdad au i had this image of izuku surrounded by his sleeping children and talking about how he wants to protect his kids from becoming like their villainous sire so that they dont walk the same path as him. it was very clear in my head and i knew what i wanted but i have to build to get there.

i like nontraditional family unit as someone who grew up with both parents, divorced, and then raised by a single mother i have a lot of respect for the nontraditional family unit!! stepdad au is one of part of many of AUs that centered around that lol. i like that katsuki who literally been a bachelor most of his life suddenly stumbled his way into like a family and now he's juggling parenthood to these small tyrants and HE'S TRYING HIS BEST.

i think i talked about this before how im not a big fan of kidfics bc they dont really have much of personality and that they're more used as a tool to get the couple together rather their own char arc so for me it was really important that each of the numbers had a very distinct characteristics that you can pick them apart among the crowd. i wanted each kid bounce off e/o bc hey they're siblings should act like ones and have a storyline outside of bkdk's love story. so theres a lot of focus on the kids as much as bkdk's storyline bc izuku (and now katsuki also) world revolves around them. izuku put away his mate/husband to SAVE HIS KIDS!!

heroes comes in all shapes and sizes and not all heroes wear cape, ya know the quote but it's exactly what it is here. izuku's path didn't lead to ofa and becoming a hero but in his own way, even tho it seemingly small in the grand scheme of things, he put everything on the line to get his kids away from their villainous sire so they wont fall on the same dark path as him. he has no quirk and didnt have support from anyone for a long time but he planned this for many years just to finally put his husband away like idk that's fucking stone cold. izuku hid his true intentions and acted the part of the good spouse, the good omega, and kept producing kids and raising them for his mate but he was actually masterminding a plan to bring his husband down and escape with his kids like HE DID THAT!!! ON HIS OWN!!! how could ppl not admire that audacity, that fucking bravery????

even tho izuku did all that, he feels like it wasnt enough bc how long it took the plan to took shape like izuku didn't just come with this plan in a day and execute it within the same week or months. HE PLANNED THIS FOR YEARS AND YEARS and finally he got enough tools in his arsenal to pulled it off (evidences and waiting for his children to be old enough to carry it out). thats pretty badass but izuk doesnt see it that, its the duty of the parents to protect their kids and izuku think he's just doing what he must!!! but even then he wishes he didnt have to wait that long to carry them away from the abuse of their sires but for his plan to work he had to stay lowkey, underestimated, and the good spouse/omega so he had to watched his children suffered but he cant do much against it. it's a hard thing to watch and endure and izuku will always regret how he couldnt do much for them and i think even tho he managed to save his kids and put away his husband, it always live in him how he could HAVE DONE MORE (even tho unlikely). so when katsuki says something about thinking he's doing just fine in his eyes, it's someone ELSE not him that tell him hey, you're not such a terrible parent and izuku's guilt lessen just a lil.

izuku isnt the perfect parent but he's trying and katsuki definitely isnt made for parenting either but he's learning AND TOGETHER they're learning to be what the numbers need and this journey is what tied them together and fall in love even tho katsuki is like half way there already but god, izuku showing him that even with no quirks, izuku can do crazy shits for his children!!!!!!

Bkdk grabs your heart but can i raise you ShinDeku? i once read a fic where something happen to Shinso (he got hurt) and he couldn't be a hero and Deku said if he wanted he would condone him doing vigilante work it's "Soft Light by Saezs" gonna talk about ShinDeku dynamics.

Shinso believing he has 0 worth but he wants to prove himself wrong, it's harder on some days but not everyday. Midoriya is there to snuggle him when he feels worthless. Shinso is the first next to Bakugo who's going to knock somebody's face off if they even say a hurtful word in Midoriya's direction your getting kicked 7 ways to hell. Midoriya is Shinso's sunshine and he tells him that every day protective boyfriends!!! cause i'll be damned if Midoriya isn't the same way Shinso's life was hard enough so if anyone's going to ruin his boy's day your getting punted, your getting mississippi smashed, colorado smashed united states of america obliterated if you even breath wrong by Shinso and Midorya catches it

i don't think either of them are the jealous type but they probably hold hands and walk down the street thinking "what did i do to deserve someone like him" at the same time they've probably also thought when they first started dating if they slightly see someone and this is mosting going in Midoriya's direction cause he's probably popular with the girls (and boys for that matter) at UA and Shinso over in the corner thinking wow he would probably be better off with somebody else but the only thing going through Midoriya mind is MOVE I NEED TO FIND MY BOYFREND i don't doubt Midoriya would ever have the thought of Shinso's better off without me im so terrible at maintaining a love relationship when he's the only one with experience cause ya boys was bullied but i think Shinso was bullied a little worse for having a cough villain quirk

Both of them getting on eachothers cases for not taking care of themselves properly but it's a cycle cause neither of them have the care for themselves as they have for eachother it's literally the only argument they have when they argue its about not taking care of yourself one way or another, "you keep doing dangerous things" "SO DO YOU" "i want you to be careful" "i know you don't care about your body but i do" stuff like that

I love this dynamic of grumpy + sunshine because Shinso is not even that grumpy he's just bitter and mad at the universe, but Izuku brings out the best parts of himself, he really is like a ray of sunshine, deku gives him hope that the world is not that much of a bad place. I think for him it's a reminder that life can be hard and you can still end up being good like Izuku is, so he tends to be very protective of him, he won't let the world even try to mess with his boyfriend, he will be smiling and happy forever if it depends on him!!

I agree, don't think they're jealous because they are very secure and there's a lot of mutual trust involved. Like you said, in the beginning, it would be something that bugs Shinsou because why would Izuku choose him, but luckily, his boyfriend is always there to reassure him that he has all the right reasons to be the best boyfriend he needs, so eventually, shinsou trusts this and they don't have any issues down the line. I think they both would communicate well with each other, I really see them as a very healthy couple (I love the toxic flavor in some ships, but for me, the appeal of these two is that they're a lil fucked up but managed to have the best relationship possible)

I think Shinso confessed first, it makes sense to me that he would realize his feelings and just… take a shot with it, like he knows izuku will be nice about it even if he rejects him, so he thinks he should be honest about how he feels bc he couldn't continue a friendship like this, I think he would try to make it a romantic moment but it would be so unlike him that it just doesn't go as planned and it doesn't feel like he's being himself. So he tries again, this time just taking Izuku on a walk and he just says it, he likes him, he doesn't want him to feel pressure but he also thinks it's fair for deku to be aware of his feelings, to his surprise izuku is really eager about it and says he is also into him, his feelings have been growing but he didn't know how to bring this up. Hey guys! Been thinking bout this for a while but I’ve been really nervous about it for…obvious reasons. I think I’m going to start applying for booths at anime/comic cons around the midwestern United States this year! Still not completely sold on the idea because I really really enjoy my privacy but you know I can always wear a mask or something or just have one of my friends front a place for me you know? I’ve kinda always wanted to do something like this but I guess I’ve just never had good enough art that was finished and prepared for a production until now. I’m excited and curious to see if any of you would be interested in going to the cons if I were to post about a booth. "Sort of," Izuku said, glancing back towards the unconscious villain. The villain that Kacchan had tried to fight and Izuku had stopped, resulting in Kacchan deciding Izuku was actually also an enemy. "We've got a much... younger problem."

Aizawa-sensei did seem to have heard Kacchan, because he said, "I think you can handle it. You're fine with children."

Then he went off the line.

Kacchan had, for a moment, ceased. Izuku smiled over at him and very, very cautiously let go. Kacchan scowled. It was a lot less scary when he barely came up to Izuku's waist.

"Listen," he started, preparing to bribe Kacchan with the promise of meeting All Might, who surely would not abandon him to such a fate as Aizawa-sensei did. "I'll-"

Kacchan launched himself towards Izuku's face.

"Fine with children," Izuku grumbled, and nearly lost an eye.

Literally got out of the movie, got home, showered & sat down to type this out so its probably incoherent lol, I’ve tried to keep my notes in chronological order though 

THE ANIMATIOOOONNNN!!! THE ANIMATION FOR THE WHOLE DAMN MOVIE WAS S O GOOD BUT ESPECIALLY THE FIGHT SCENES & CGI USE

My Hero Academia Episode 71 “Suneater of the Big 3″ Review

This is gonna launch a thousand  more MiriTama fics. Also, is that the effect they use on All might in the Intro?

Amajiki is speculating that they might have a leak somewhere, and I think the counterargument they use is pretty flimsy. If the leak is who I think it is (ie Uraraka or Asui), they only found out the date and plan recently, so they wouldn’t have had much time to warn the League, and the League also might have waited till the last minute to warn Overhaul out of spite, since after all they don’t want him to do well. You won’t sink my theory until I hear real evidence.

WE get some fast-paced shenanigans with the Nighteye agency for a bit, culminating in the perennial Scooby Doo solution of “Let’s Split up Gang!”

Ugh, the Irinaka guy. I really like they way they animate him juicing up and that creepy shot is suitable creepy but...

...The underground hallway thing was a lot creepier when it was just sketches. This looks silly.

Yay, this bit of plot dumb. Sure, let’s abandon Tamaki to fight on his own! Like, Mirio has an in-universe reason why he’s being reckless (Eri!) but Tamaki just seems to be copying him.

Thankfully the anime quickly cuts away to more of Mirio and Tamaki being married. And also being childhood friends in Gakuen uniforms with dark and blonde hair like Deku and Kacchan, so I can get the tiniest morsels of BKDK out of the ep even if Kacchan’s not around and Deku has like 2 lines (seriously, I miss Deku already).

THAT SOUNDTRACK. OH MY FREAKING GOD. THEY USED IT HERE. THEY KEEP USING MY OTP’S OST IN BIG 3 SCENES. BUT I DON’T CARE EPISODE SAVED THEY BROKE IT OUT TO APOLOGIZE TO ME FOR THE YAPPY YAKUZA VILLAINS YAY!!!!!!!!

To clarify I mean Katsuki and Izuku’s OST. From s3. That kickass score.  You Say Run + Bombing King. I hope one day they’ll play this score over an actual BKDK scene instead of a Big 3 scene, but for now, I’ll freaking take it. Oh, and Tamaki wins by eating the guy’s crystals and stuff. Yay! Yakuza loudmouths beaten! Next week it’s KIRISHIMA TIME.

Episode 71 plays, to me, like the animators and voice actors rushing at breakneck speed to get through this kinda boring fight scene (which lasts 3 whole excruciatingly long manga chapters) because they know fully well how impatient and bored the fanbase got with this part of the story and want to get us to the Big Stuff as fast as possible. Kudos to them. They still do a great job on the animation, music and voice acting as usual. This was definitely the part of this arc in the manga that I really tuned out of, because it was just so slow, Tamaki flashbacks aside. Still, yay! We got through it! So Kirimina flashbacks next week? PLEASE?!!?

AHHHH! Just got back from finally seeing Heroes Rising! 8D Oh man, that was definitely a big-screened flashy action movie to experience, with great class cohesion and teamwork, and especially with Deku and Kacchan as the stars. Going in, I already knew what was going to happen (couldn’t resist spoiling myself silly), but it still had me chuckling along to all the fun nods/refs to things and grinning like a huge idiot by the end of it. :D More details and extended impressions as follows:

It really gets me that nowadays we can just…waltz into a theater and watch subbed anime movie screenings (which was the version I saw) alongside other current films. :O That’s just amazing to me. Cause gosh, back in the day, that was either completely unheard of, or you had to drive 100miles to a fancy arthouse theater just to see dubbed releases of -only- Miyazaki movies (with month-long reserved/ordered tickets). This is so much preferable now (it’s a very good thing!), and I certainly hope this trend for more accessible anime content continues!

Anyway, saw the movie with family: sister (only watches the anime) and mom (never seen any bnha, but wanted to be included anyway~) At first we had the entire theater to ourselves at a 9:45pm showing, until like 5 min before, then several other groups came in. (So hhhh ;o; had to refrain from making any loud reactions/commentary otherwise.)  

Some of the best comments from my mom were how she kept leaning over to me and asking where the ‘guy with the wings’ (Hawks) was. X’D This is great and hilarious to me. He only showed up a few times to investigate the villains, figure out what’s wrong, and fly over with pending professional help to the island. So to my mom, it was a matter of ‘when will he come to save the kids!?’ Aha nice. His Japanese voice was deeper than expected, but I could still hear the Mumen Rider (opm) inflections from his voice actor. :D Definitely excited to see more of him formally animated in the series. Later, my mom also commented how the villain (Nine) was good-looking, buaha! (I mean hey, Shiggy was there too! 8D) I’d given her a crash-course on bnha lore before the movie, so it’s amusing to me how these were some of her unique takeaways. She also felt how after Deku told the kids ‘you can be a hero,’ that they already were cause they demonstrated that same bravery. :’)

For my sister, by the end she was like, ‘they should have just done fusion!’ Noting how Deku and Kacchan already went with the dbz looks, so heh why not. :P She noted how odd it was that Kacchan could use OfA immediately (when it took Deku several hours to…digest the hair before it could set in), so I had to clarify it was transferred by blood this time. She also wondered how Deku could gain even greater power with OfA after transferring it, and welp it’s mostly movie magic so whatever, but I could not resist flat-out saying, ‘BECAUSE THEY SOUL-BONDED~’ (And that’s as far as I was openly willing to push it with the bkdk agenda, guahaha.) Lingering convos included stuff about OfA mechanics (more odd inconsistencies with the vestiges somehow willing it back) and me mentioning Hori’s original idea to end the series with, all that good stuff. But most of all, to even have the movie tie back into the main (manga) storyline cleanly somehow, these types of explanations/solutions to things had to be done anyway, so it’s honestly another whatever/no big; it works as a self-contained flashy movie. (And honestly not as bad as some impressions made it seem; instead, how certain things wrapped up here felt negligible to me.)

As for ME, woohoo oh I definitely liked it and had a fun time! :D I didn’t know if I’d get the chance to see it in theaters (schedule conflicts) but ayyy I felt it was worth it! Immediately from the intro car-chase with Endeavor (yooo), it was all high-budget, quality action movie stuff. The two kids were endearing with active roles which I appreciated. I was also greatly impressed by how cohesive and responsible all the classmates were. You could just tell how closely they knew each other (and their quirks) and could work efficiently as a well-oiled unit when disaster strikes. Evacuating and providing for the islanders and coming up with elaborate battle plans, and all without any adult heroes present. :O Each had their moment to shine, with some very cool class combo moves too. Favs were Uraraka and Sero’s boulder throwing spam, and Kiri bodily shielding Todo from a hugeass high-beam laser like in Evangelion (YOOOOO?!?! that was cool!) Dark Shadow with wolverine claws was pretty sweet too.  

Of course, personal favs were the Kacchan (+Deku) moments. Deku was a good babey throughout but…but KACCHAN. ;A; Featuring the shades of Kacchan I love to see. :’D (Also Denki said a line like, ‘Kacchan of the Bakugous’ buahaha wtf!) When he’s silently observant (listening to Deku talk to the kid about their hero dreams, to the point his popsicle melts off ;o;), intensely serious (making it very clear to the kids he’s for real about efficiently working as a hero after they mess around/cry wolf with him), gruffly supportive (encouraging Deku in his own way to ‘make it his own’ asap :’3) and…he’s still got his signature short fuse temper of course (that explodes in comical ways, heh even my mom laughed at him) plus the awesome moments when he frees himself from a villain then promptly beats his ass. 8D But…I personally loved the smaller, but very telling, protective moments. Like when the girl signaled Deku was in trouble, Kacchan was immediately RIGHT THERE to blast Nine in the face (omgg), how he caught/saved the girl when she went flying (while Deku was on the attack instead), AND my fav: how when they were both fighting Nine, Deku got distracted worrying about the other classmates fighting elsewhere, but Kacchan kicked him out of the way from getting hurt by lasers (so ahhh!! he’s actively looking out for Deku and staying on top of things so they both keep their heads in the game. :’D) Just MANY good Kacchan moments to appreciate. <3

AND then the big bkdk handhold, OfA transfer, epic + emotional team up. (Ever since the first previews/impressions, I’m still stunned they actually did all that on the big screen!) At this point I was internally squealing and had the dumbest grin on my face but didn’t even care. 8’D I WAS READY! Nakamura’s animation was like…byuuujjgghh *brain turns off* Honestly it was hard to even SEE what was happening on screen besides huge swathes of molten heat and green electricity flying everywhere, totally and awesomely over the top. Ahaha definitely worth seeing again just for that! I got feels for the ‘it’s fine if it’s you’ line :’))), and in the aftermath, loved it when Deku’s first thought upon regaining consciousness was to ask All Might if Kacchan’s ok. (omggg heh, Deku pls! :’D)

Overall, the movie had a simple, straightforward storyline to follow, fantastic action and teamwork to enjoy, and plenty of tidbits and character moments for current fans to heartily eat up. No question about the Kacchan and bkdk service as well. Left me feeling very giddy as a fan and glad I was able to catch it in theaters. Now I can’t wait to see when gifsets of all those fun moments get made!

im SO sorry this is super late!!! cringes i got distracted with some stuff sorry!!!!!!! but to answer your question im kinda torn b/t domestic super close bkdk who lives together and do everything as a couple but arent a couple at all??? like that's such a vibe where you're basically living in each other pocket and doing everything that is a married couple does but the feelings hasnt caught up yet and idk i like that a lot. another flavor of bkdk that i talked about where they're super intense about each other - katsuki is all consuming and his love is an ocean w/o borders and izuku is bottomless well that katsuki can pour all his love into. it's just soooo idk intense and terrifying bc how overwhelming it it but for these two it works bc their both ppl of extreme so yea.

i think i dabbled into a lot of diff trope and AU, i try not to restrain myself on anything, but there's like two particular things i want to try but i never have the courage to bc im not smart enough to write it LMAO. i want to do a 'horror unlimited' thing idk if ppl know this but it's a very common trope in china and even in japan too where you're trap in a horror/life or death scenario where you have to play out games and do crazy stunts in order to survive. it's really interesting and very clever. i always want to try it but it takes a lot of skill and creativity to come up with the survival games for it and im not that smart LOL. maybe one day!!!! i also would love to write a crime scene/detective murder mystery thing where bkdk and their friends basically an elite unite of investigators solving serious crimes like serial killers and such. im obsessed with csi, criminal minds, and law & order so writing a fic base around that is a dream of mind but once again i dont have enough knowledge to write it but ONE DAY, ONE DAY!!!!

i dont think there's any particular media that based bkdk but i just have a very vivid picture of bkdk in my head and i staunchingly stick to it (that's why i don read bkdk anymore LMAO bc it's so severe). for me i put that in a lot of AU setting but i try very hard to keep the core of who they are like izuku being kindhearted even if i write fics where he landed in the LOV's lap and is raised by AFO, i cant see him changing his kindhearted way and it's something i work into the fic how his struggles with wanting to help ppl and wanting better for the world torn b/t knowing his father and the ppl around him are VERY, VERY BAD PPL. it's good shit lol. katsuki is similar that he's a person full of flaw and is a general prick but he's really just an awkward boy who's trying his best and he may not always be kind but he's a good boy underneath all that rough edges and that he cares more deeply than ppl realize. i try to keep that inherent 'core' of their char so even if i do funky and weird setting that seem out of place for who they are, to me they are still recognizable as bkdk so that's super important to me.

Thoughts on ch207

Now that Kacchan’s match is underway, I’m gonna compare/contrast my thoughts and predictions from last time to what actually went down this ch, because oooh, I am pleased! 8D As written before (bolded for emphasis):

The situation may be a huge gamble (especially if the reinforced holding cell is impenetrable by his explosions/ap shots, then his team may lose, also not accounting for any tricks class B may have), but what’s a thorough challenge without taking some risks? ;) This is Kacchan we’re talking about. All he has to do is focus on what he does best: prioritize disabling the enemy with precision and efficiency while evading capture, with or without using the extra options/firepower/movesets from his teammates, then IF any of them get caught (because honestly he’s not likely to take responsibility or coddle them for their own safety; rather he’d expect them to carry their own weight) he has a fallback plan to regain the lost score.

To pull this off successfully would require both a complete victory over the other team AND the necessary follow up to rescue any remaining captured teammates to secure an indisputable win. Sound familiar? To save the match by both winning and rescuing? That’s right: Kacchan, apply all that you’ve experienced (after coming back from an actual villain kidnapping before, he already knows what it’s like to be captured) and show Deku exactly how much you’ve learned from him!

Similarly as predicted, Kacchan swiftly aiming for an aggressive initiative (which is not unlike his approach in his test with Deku vs All Might actually), and expecting his team to catch up to the same speed and pull their own weight according to his high standards of efficiency (again, while not being nice about it either) is no surprise. Him being watchful and aware of his teammates, while actively going in to 1) cover for them

and 2) protect them from capture IS a very welcome surprise! 8’D OHHHHHHH!!! (YUUUS PROTECTIVE KACCHAN <3) I like this a lot! Especially for adapting the ‘win and save’ theme he learned back from DvsK2 that I figured would be a key part of his match. ;A; I am extremely pleased! For both All Might supporting him and especially Deku to take notice of his moves!

(^Omggg that is a screaming ‘Kacchan sugoi’ moment from Deku, right there from the shining recognition in his eyes. ;A; Yes I have ascended on this thxgiving holiday from Hori’s blessed bkdk meal! 8’D)

How Kacchan applies this ‘save’ mindset from Deku is slightly different from where I thought (I supposed he’d go back and save his teammates IF they get captured…well actually it’s still too soon to tell if he might go back and do that anyway, as the match just started and no one’s captured yet) But applying this so soon before they’re captured is interesting, because I feel he’s spreading his active duties too thin like this. He’s just one person and physically can’t cover for ALL his teammates in both offense and defense at the same time...even more when they’re all trapped and outnumbered too. Truly, it’s just as All Might once admitted to Deku: he can’t save everyone as he’s just one person and physically can’t exist/reach everywhere at once. As much as Kacchan’s eager and impatient to demonstrate he’s a self-reliant hero and a one-man show to Deku with control over the whole situation, I feel the difference in All Might’s experience here is a telling factor. Meaning, this is one of the first times Kacchan’s attempted this ‘win & save’ approach…so he likely doesn’t have the experience yet to handle when & where he should apply either mode for max efficiency. But again, his adaptability and tenacity are strong, so he may realize this dilemma quickly and that yes, he still has areas he can improve.

Another telling factor is teamwork (and proper communication!) to work cohesively as a unit. Not everyone can subconsciously sync to the speed of his plan and thought processes (like Deku can), so some leeway will likely be needed for their team to pull out a win. Relying on and incorporating his team’s strengths instead of covering for their deficiencies all on his own. Unless of course, he momentarily falls back to weigh his options, knowing where to save himself from becoming a needless martyr for the team (aka in his hasty attempt to be omniscient for everybody, he realizes he can’t do everything. Oh wait…that’s also why it’s an interesting match up vs Setsuna’s ability to DO just that: by splitting herself up everywhere, however she lacks the power he has.) …But he comes back later to save his team once the main enemy threats are dealt with, which is the possible scenario I predicted last time: by targeting the prison cell to successfully rescue and free any captured teammates to win back their score. Anyway, whatever happens, I’m definitely looking forward to what he’s got, and hoping he finally gains a well-deserved win he can be proud of! :’D

Bonus: aside from the feels on the last page with Deku’s expression, fav individual panel is this one because yoooo!!! That’s a really good focused/intense shot of him (also I’m not blind to those jacked shoulders, dang.)

Bonus 2: the family omake was a huge welcome surprise! 8’D For showing more about his parents and home life. Gosh what an absolute dysfunctional disaster of a family. XD But also HORI. H O R I…!!!! He can’t just follow up after that last bkdk page with THIS pov from Masaru (ohhhh yes I’m very aware of the similarities between Masaru & Deku with their soft-spoken nerd parallels, along with the obvious one of Kacchan closely taking after Mitsuki too)
