As a multidisciplinary artist across design, fashion, music, and architecture, Virgil Abloh wore many hats—and wore them well.

The fifth and final drop for Virgil Abloh: “Figures of Speech” features merchandise and limited edition prints from Futura.
These pieces intertwine iconography from the Futura Laboratories design engine as well as Abloh’s own candelabra icon. Conceptually, this capsule serves as a lasting ode to this powerful and beloved partnership: approachable, friendly, and accessible. Clear art prints signed and numbered by Virgil Abloh and marked by Futura. Limited to one per customer.

If you’ve been to the #BkMShop lately, you couldn’t have missed this capsule collection created by Tré Seals.
As the creative mind behind the independent font foundry Vocal Type and a #BlackVisionaries grant recipient in 2021, Seals was challenged to reinterpret our logo on his terms. He went back to our archives, unearthing and modernizing the Museum’s first logo, which inspired the expressive monogram that appears on the t-shirts, crew neck, and scarves in this collection.
The final result is a custom monogram and typeface that meld the Museum’s historical identity with today’s. Thus, inspiring the phrase, “Art Never Dies.”

Virgil Abloh regularly found inspiration in his surroundings—urban environments, symbols, signs, objects, and more.
There are many indicators of this fact across #VirgilAblohBkM including in the exhibition shop. Take these tees as just a couple examples depicting Abloh’s reinterpretation of the Trojan Horse and the cartoon cat.
P.S. for Church & State orders over $75, get a free FOS Abloh Tote. Now through December—pass it on!

Arriving today, in the exhibition shop for Virgil Abloh: “Figures of Speech”, is CANARY YELLOW x DENIM TEARS. Inspired by the way Abloh used his platform to bring his friends and collaborators into those same positions, this collaboration between Canary Yellow and Denim Tears uses Abloh's figure of speech, "the sunroof of the trojan horse."
Don’t forget to secure your ticket to #VirgilAblohBkM between 11 am–7 pm today (October 27) to be amongst the first to view the collection. CANARY YELLOW x DENIM TEARS will be available to shop online on October 28.
