So this has been something that's been asked for a few times, so after a long times work, here we have it! A hypothetical voice cast for the characters of Autobot Academy. If there's a character you don't see, it's as we don't want to rush figuring out a character. We may update this list in the future, however it'll be in our own time, so we won't be taking any questions about specific missing characters. And hey, if you have your own voices that don't match up with these, then feel free to stick with that!

Still on a bit of a promotional Micron tear. Just added to @tfwiki are fresh new pics of Transformers United FRACAS and SPOILSPORT.
Both were available from Bic Camera & Yodobashi Camera stores, but at different times with different conditions.
Fracas (top) was available starting Dec 28 2010, free with the purchase of 3000 yen of United toys.
Spoilsport (bottom), who is inexplicably not black and red like his original toy, was available starting March 5th 2011 by purchasing 3000 yen worth of Autobot Alliance product, or Masterpiece MP-9 Rodimus Convoy, or Masterpiece Movie Series MPM-2 Bumblebee.
And with this two, the run of United promo Microns is complete!

Black Rodimus Convoy: The Best Rodimus-Focused Storyline We Never Really Got
Alright, continuing my mission to go over less-often mentioned TF content, here’s one of my favourites: Black Rodimus Convoy!
This character was created as part of an e-HOBBY comic for the Masterpiece series, which was released alongside the MP-9B Black Rodimus Convoy figure for the Japanese regional Masterpiece figures by Takara Tomy.
The title of the comic is “Destron Doppelgänger Black Rodimus Convoy”, and although I can’t seem to find the English language version of the comic in full anywhere online anymore, the plot was pretty good!
What’s Going On Here?:
Rodimus goes searching through an abandoned Decepticon base, and after a while starts to hear a voice calling him towards a clone synthesizer, as seen in G1.
When he approaches more closely to get a better look, one of the clone chambers opens, revealing a version of himself -- as Hot Rod-- in all black and blue/purple paint, who grabs him and throws him to the ground!
The clone had manifested from Rodimus’ doubts regarding his ability to live up to Optimus Prime, his lack of confidence after having been thrust into a leadership position he wasn’t prepared for and didn’t really want...
...And has thus decided to take the Matrix for himself, as he views Rodimus as too weak-willed and emotionally unstable to be capable of making the most out of the immense power the Matrix contains.
The Black Hot Rod version of himself then digs into Rodimus, preying on his insecurities and lack of self-esteem / self-confidence; Stating that Rodimus knows he is unable to handle the power and authority that accompanies the Matrix, Black Hot Rod rips the Matrix from his chest compartment, takes it for himself, and becomes Black Rodimus Convoy!
He then challenges Rodimus-- who has now reverted back into Hot Rod-- to take the Matrix from him, if he ever feels worthy of it.
Poor Rodimus, Damn -- But I’d Read It!
This is a super interesting concept; The Masterpiece series was intended to revisit some G1 ideas with the benefit of being able to utilise the more advanced engineering of the MP series figures to showcase some new ideas built off of the more G1-original designs.
A common complaint about G1 Rodimus post-86 movie is that he often came across as distant or uncaring, owing to his difficulty in adjusting to being a Matrix wielder and his lingering immaturity.
I think that if a little more time had been dedicated to addressing those aspects of his character in the cartoon, it would have possibly done a lot to improve the general audience’s reception of the character.
Granted, the 86 movie did not go down amazingly well in regards to how Rodimus came about in the first place, which didn’t help anything. But Rodimus never got a minute to really address his emotional/personal issues, and so of course, he continued to struggle with leadership throughout his tenure as holder of the Matrix right up until Optimus was revived.
This comic has a really strong concept behind it, because it directly addresses what Rodimus fears:
He believes himself to be inept because he is inevitably compared to Optimus (and therefore compares himself to Optimus as well), he deals with his emotional concerns by hiding behind either overconfidence or a veneer of total disinterest which both tend to drive others away, he often buckles under pressure when he is in command or makes rapid-fire calls which others often push back on or call out as questionable later on (which honestly isn’t helped by certain responses he then receives from some of the other Autobots at various points in time), and there simply isn’t enough time to ease him into the role of Matrix Bearer or Leader of the Autobots to make up for what was a wholly traumatic experience of actually getting the Matrix in the first place.
Lots of shit going on with Rodimus. Almost none of it was really addressed all that much, or all that well, in G1-- Which I understand, but from a story/character point of view, uh, it’s not surprising that a lot of G1 people have issues with this character to this day. I feel like 99% of that dislike is because Rodimus just never got the continued development that would have likely covered some of this a little bit more (and perhaps a little more tactfully), without derailing things or taking too much time away from anything else happening in a given episode.
But this comic is fantastic, because it goes straight for those issues and insecurities right away.
Rodimus is used to getting roasted by the others, and getting relatively minimal support (considering the nature of his concerns and generally low self-esteem / what is almost certainly some degree of depression) from any of his teammates.
But what about when it isn’t someone else roasting him?
What happens when his own constant stream of negative self-talk is suddenly able to stand in front of him, and voice all of his self-loathing right back at him?
What happens when all of these negative thoughts coalesce into a physical form, a clone of himself, who seems to be all around “better”?
Black Rodimus Convoy is more confident, is clearly a good strategic planner and can manipulate a situation to his benefit very smoothly, has a plan and seems very capable of carrying it out without any doubts about his ability to do so.
While Black Rodimus Convoy is a physical clone of Rodimus, his attitude, emotional and psychological state, and behaviour are all total opposites.
It seems like BRC wants to be the “ideal” version of the bot he’s a clone of; He attacks Rodimus as soon as he reasonably can, because he has the confidence to say “the power of the Matrix should be mine”.
Meanwhile, Rodimus feels more burdened and disconnected, he’s struggling with the power and with the authority of leadership, and he falters when faced with an identical-- but “better”, even if not “good”-- version of himself.
The whole premise is rooted in how poorly Rodimus actually is, in terms of mental and emotional health.
It gives the audience a chance to go, oh, actually, this bot isn’t okay. He’s disaffected and doesn’t come across very well a lot of the time, but there are very real reasons for that. He’s struggling.
There were a few scenes here and there in G1 that touched on WHY Rodimus was like that, but generally not in any real depth, which I always felt was a bit of a missed opportunity to make the character come across a bit better or at least be a bit more sympathetic for audience members to relate to a bit more.
It’s a super interesting idea, allows for some great insight into Rodimus as a character, and I like that they made this part of the Masterpiece line up because the entire idea is to cover or re-visit G1 subjects in a slightly different way.
It would have been interesting to get more of this story, but alas, it was a one-off as far as I am aware!
Hopefully this was interesting to read through! <3

Finally got around to repairing MP-09b. Regrettably there is even more damage than I first suspected. I was able to install the new knees and he is still able to be played with gently but his days of transforming are well behind him. It's a real shame that such a nice toy is so fragile. I keep hoping for a black repaint of the MP-28 Hot Rodimus but we haven't seen anything yet.

Rating evil Primes
Note: Talking about the shows + movies Gotta rate them evil versions of our homeboy Prime, worst to best, say GO!
6. Armada Nemesis Prime
Tumblr media
This dude was sexy and feral and so damn threatening, but sadly he was part of an episode that said "we got five new toys to promote, lets add this filler episode that contributes absolutely nothing to the plot except give some characters new paint!"
Nemesis Prime didn't even make sense, like I guess he was Sideways the whole time or just a toy of Sideways???
But they never explained why Sideways would do any of this or how?
What was the point except "new toy" indeed.
Also
Tumblr media
What the fuck is wrong with your fucking neck, why is your head so far off your body, are you a giraffe???
5. TFP Nemesis Prime
Tumblr media
How can I give this dude a good rating, it's just a suit??? No character of its own, just Silas controlling it.
It was a nice episode but this Nemesis Prime just wasn't a character. Only reason I put it above Armada is that its existence is actually plot-relevant.
Though it could have been any robot or mobile suit, it didn't need to look like Prime.
4. Bayverse Nemesis Prime
Tumblr media
He is sexy and I love the whole Quintessa idea, but they just didn't go into any depth with this man, a fucking disappointment.
On paper this whole concept is still damn dope tho - I especially love the face colouring and the fact that this Nemesis Prime isn't a clone or something, it IS Prime! Just brainwashed!
Lets appreciate how it happened:
Tumblr media
Hehe, bitchslap-
3. RiD01 Scourge/ Car Robots Black Convoy
Tumblr media
The accident love child of Optimus and Megatron, Black Convoy comes as an evil Prime clone who is relevant to the plot, is badass, has agency and handsome to boot!
Babe even tried to betray Megatron, that is always a good quality to have! :D
His bromance with Dolrailer was pretty nice to watch too ~
Yeah, he is a good evil boy and he'd be even more epic if he wasn't in a kids show
2. Prime Wars Trilogy Rodimus Cron
Tumblr media
Never said this is only about evil Optimus Primes-
Rodimus Cron deserves a high place on this list because he caused me massive amounts of internal pain by killing people when I knew full well that the normal Roddy would never do any of it-
His design was epic (except for that beard?), he was strong, badass and damn I even liked his dynamic with Overlord. Just one massive asshole serial killer and his short lil possessed babu, whats not to love? :3
1. Beast Wars II Black Lio Convoy
Tumblr media
This evil copy is in one episode only, but damn- he got so much class, sass and personality! More than all these other evil Prime's combined.
I mean just look at him - he's flirting with Lio Convoy, holding that flower!
Babe just said "fuck you, I'm taking over with my honey sweet mouth" and tried to fuck everything up, whats not to love???
Dude even got some evil rubs from Starscream of all people-
Tumblr media
Really wished they did more with him but damn, he left such a big impression!
And for good reason - he's the original evil Prime copy :D ~

Work Together
@thunderrodweek Day 2: Build
Beta’d by @percy-writes
If you’d prefer to read on AO3
Day 1 | Day 2
------
“How the frag am I supposed to stick this piece into this part? It doesn’t fit!”
“Did you read the directions?”
“Yeah I read the fragging directions!”
Rodimus chucks the assembly piece in his rage, and it clatters haphazardly against the wall on the other side of the room. He collapses to the ground in a huff and groans his frustrations, “How am I supposed to raise a whole aft sparkling when I can’t even put this fragging crib together?!”
“Oh, darling… the skills are hardly connected,” Thunderclash sighs, coming to his conjunx’s side. “Do you need any help?”
“No!” Rodimus is quick to protest, “You-you’re carrying, you should be resting.”
Thunderclash settles down beside him anyways. “I can still help,” he offers, “even if it is just reading the steps to you.”
“Well, I said I was gonna do this, so I’m gonna do it.” Rodimus sits up and wrestles the half-built furniture into an accessible position. “I’m the sire. I should be able to.”
“The sparkling won’t care whether or not you can build them a crib.”
“Yeah, well I care,” Rodimus pouts. “What if they ask me to build them a treehouse one day? I gotta… I gotta practice.”
Thunderclash blinks back his confusion, not entirely sure what a “treehouse” is, and rubs a servo soothingly along his conjunx’s backplating. “You know, you do realize we’re supposed to be a team in this, right? Whatever we do for our sparkling, we do it together.”
Rodimus makes a noncommittal grunt in reply, field steaming with frustration.
The convoy clucks his glossa and searches for the guidebook in the array of assorted parts scattered about the floor. Once he’s plucked it from the mess, he suggests, “Why don’t you go get that piece you just threw, and I’ll scroll through this?” It’ll give him a moment to calm down.
“Ugh, fine.” Rodimus hauls himself to his pedes and trudges off.
As Thunderclash flips through the directions, he can understand why the Prime got so confused. While relatively straightforward, the pictures exemplifying the steps are bogged down by weird arrows and random closeups. Knowing Rodimus, he likely couldn’t focus on the black and white of the linework. Still, he has a feeling this isn’t the direct cause of his love’s frustration.
When Rodimus finally makes his way back, Thunderclash asks as gently as he can muster, “Do you want to tell me the real reason why you’re upset?”
The speedster frowns and flops down beside him. “Not really,” he mumbles as he proffers the stray piece.
Thunderclash takes it and sets it beside the others, before pointing to the directions. “It needs to go in this way. I believe you were putting it in backwards.”
“Oh.” He sets about fixing it the right way and Thunderclash lists off a few more directions as Rodimus continues to assemble.
When they’re nearly finished, the colorful mech exclaims cheerfully, “See! We make a good team, you and I.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Rodimus dismisses with a wave of his servo. “Thanks for the help, I guess.” He screws in a few bolts before flipping it over to administer them to the other side.
“You know, I meant what I said earlier,” Thunderclash pipes up while he watches him work, “about doing things together. You don’t have to shoulder these kinds of things on your own.”
“I guess not,” Rodimus sighs. He ceases his work and gives the convoy a somewhat pleading expression. “But I feel like I have to. I mean, I can’t help you carry. You’re doing that all on your own. This is… this is the least I can do right now.”
“Oh, my fiery sun, is that what you’re so worried about?” Thunderclash smiles sympathetically.
“Yeah! And I can’t even do it right.” Rodimus crosses his arms over his chestplates and gives the nearly assembled crib a glare straight from the Pits.
His petulance is disrupted when he’s suddenly drawn into the big arms of his conjunx. Thunderclash croons a soft, adoring note, and nuzzles his cheek. “You’ll be a wonderful sire,” he assures, “Our bitlet couldn’t ask for a better mech than you.”
Rodimus flushes and buries his helm in Thunderclash’s chestplates. “How can you be so sure?” he murmurs against the steady whirr of his spark. If he focuses enough on where the warm plating meets his cheek, he can detect the faint pulse of a second beat beneath Thunderclash’s. His own spark glows in recognition.
“You’re already helping me so much,” he insists, “And no one could love them as fiercely as I know you do.”
“But how do I help? I’m not-”
Thundercalsh cuts him off before he can even finish that thought. “Who just put this together?”
“Well, I suppose I did, but you read me the directions-”
“And who brings me a warm cube of energon whenever I ask?”
“Me…”
“And who massages my pedes every night?”
“Also me.”
“And who-”
“Alright, alright, I get it!”
“Do you, though?” Thunderclash quirks an optical ridge at him. “You do so much for me already. You are helping. And when the sparkling comes around, you’ll help with them too.”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right…” Rodimus lets out a nervous, tearful giggle and noses Thunderclash’s chestplates. “Our little Hot Sauce~”
The convoy snorts in amusement. “I thought we agreed that wouldn’t be their name.”
“I know, I know, but until we come up with something better...” he trails off, flashing innocent optics up at him.
Thunderclash rolls his own before leaning down to press a gentle kiss to the crest of Rodimus’s helm. “Now why don’t we finish this thing?”

some minimegs writing :3c
Minimus was used to waiting.
He waited to be out of his brother’s shadow, endless and dark and all-encompassing. He waited to return to the Magnus armor during his sabbatical, guiltily squashing the small eagerness he felt after he was allowed to return to his duties early. Convoy was a good mech, and had died bravely. He shouldn’t have been so anxious to put the armor back on.
…(But oh, he was.)
After the war had ended and everything had fallen into a mess of grey with no stark lines to rely on, no rules or right or wrong to enforce, he did not need to wait long before he found another duty on the Lost Light. But then, he waited for Rodimus to straighten out, to act normal, to step up as captain in the way Magnus had always been used to. He waited for the ship’s crew to stop being so... unpredictable. No one was a rock he could depend on, no one followed the rules, no one on this primus-forsaken ship ever listened to him! So after Overlord broke out and stabbed him through the chest, nearly missing his true form, Magnus decided he had enough of waiting. He went to Tyrest, the one mech he was sure would solve everything. And then... then Minimus waited for Tyrest to tell him he was kidding. He waited for his superior to return his armor, to stop- stop telling him he was... to stop....
Minimus Ambus, for the second time in his life, did not wait. He didn’t hesitate to shoot his superior in the back.
Magnus waited for Megatron to be declared guilty. Though he fulfilled his duty of defending the warlord, he knew he plead a hopeless case. He was surprised to find that Megatron, even with nothing left, managed to cheat death. But he also refused to reject it entirely. Magnus waited for Megatron to make sense. Being the new “co-captain” of the Lost Light, he had plenty of time to do so under Magnus’s watch. He waited for Megatron to murder someone, or escape dramatically, or break every regulation in the Autobot Code.
But Megatron knew every line of the Code. He had it…. memorized.
Magnus waited for his spark to stop pulsing happily every time he remembered that.
And so it went. Magnus waited and waited for everything to make sense again, but Megatron stubbornly refused to let that happen. Whenever the grey mech discussed regulation with him, accepted the work he was given with such reliability, or simply didn’t make a fuss when a problem arose, Magnus felt a strange warmth in his chest. When the Lost Light prepared to travel through robophobic space and cloak themselves from discovery and therefore attack, Minimus had for some reason decided to go without the Magnus Armor. He did not consider the light, bubbly feeling he received when Megatron held him up to put the finishing touches on the cloaking machine to be a deciding factor in his choice. Yet even after the debacle with the scraplets, he could not help but remember the warmth and strength of those grey hands.
Minimus waited for the roaring blush to fade from his faceplates before he knocked on Megatron’s door. They were just reading poetry together. That was all. Nothing to be embarrassed about, certainly. The blush did not fade.
Minimus waited for these confusing feelings to stop. He waited for his spark to cease dancing every time Megatron asked for his input on a report, to settle after he sent them back and always signed “Noted, with thanks.”
“Noted, with thanks.”
Part of Minimus began to wait for something else. Something with Megatron. Something involving those warm grey hands, and that broad chest, and those lips that were probably so soft and sweet and skilled and-
Minimus Ambus waited too long.
Because now? They were all trapped as Decepticons surrounded the place that had once been the Necrobot’s home. Now, Minimus Ambus was useless, Minimus Ambus could do nothing to help, Minimus Ambus had caused this because if he had just followed the rules…
Ultra Magnus was taken aside by Megatron, into one of the many empty rooms. Magnus had asked what Megatron wished to speak about, and Megatron, with that lost, lost look in his eyes, had told him he was sorry.
Minimus Ambus had almost forgotten the incident. Megatron’s face had looked different, after he had knocked him to the ground. His optics had gone from a dull, dead tone to blinding red. His face had filled with utter horror, and before Minimus could say a word, he had fled the room with a stammered apology.
Now, in the empty room, Magnus reminded him of this apology. Megatron shook his head and took his hands. Minimus felt his spark skip a beat.
He could swear he felt it stop when Megatron leaned in and kissed him.
And in that moment he became so painfully aware of the way it felt. Megatron’s lips were rough— he was not the kind to put so much pride in his personal appearance, unlike some mechs who liked to keep their lip-plates smooth and untarnished. Minimus should have seen that before. Despite this, it still felt… wonderful. The kiss was somewhat clumsy, affection given by a mech who hadn’t done anything of the sort for millions of years to a mech that had never been involved in any kind of romance, period. Minimus has no idea what to do. Part of him wondered if Megatron did either. Then, Megatron’s hands let go of his to travel to Magnus’s hips, thumbs gently rubbing circles on the red biolights in his abdomen. Magnus half-suppressed a shiver, but from the contented hum of Megatron’s engine, the other mech had clearly felt it. Megatron’s lips were warm against his, and as he moved Magnus moved with him.
A section of Magnus’s processor was screaming at him to stop. This was unimaginable- kissing the former leader of the Decepticons as the troops he had formerly commanded stood outside ready to slaughter them all!? He had to have been malfunctioning!
But then, if this was do fundamentally wrong, was his spark singing?
Minimus did not wait for the kiss to end, but it did so far too quickly.
And then Megatron was gone.
Magnus waited for him to return. He did, broken and bleeding. Magnus waited to make his last stand. He waited with his spark in his throat as Megatron spoke to the DJD, screamed at them, flooded black crackling rifts out of the corners of his optics and waited to die alongside his creations.
Magnus waited for Rodimus to return with Megatron clutching his hand.
He watched as so many missing mechs returned, played his part because relaxing the rules had almost gotten them killed, exited the Magnus Armor only when he absolutely had to because the teleporter could not fit it, and unwittingly traveled to another universe.
At the end of it all, Minimus waited for Megatron to arrive.
He said he’d be there.
He had given his word.
Minimus waited for his spark to stop hurting as they returned to Necroworld.
Ultra Magnus had never seen his armor malfunction like this. Rodimus made a remark about him and Magnus could not stop the anger that bubbled up inside of him- and then the armor was working again.
Yet his spark still ached.
Minimus Ambus was used to waiting. He could do so, for just a little bit longer.
He would come back, someday.
Yes, he could wait.

WELL: Where did the inspiration for Umbra Convoy being Dion come from? It's honestly a really interesting concept to have a 'Nemesis Prime'-esque character originally be one of Star Convoy/Optimus's closest friends who was left for dead.
Design wise, it was partly inspired by the Arrow villain Prometheus combined with aspects of Rodimus/Black Rodimus. As for the character itself, it was partly an inversion of the idea proposed by Wings Universe that Dion could've become Ultra Magnus, which, with Dion's absence in the present of AA, lent itself well into the idea.
Then taking stuff from the classic Nemesis Prime, like the Vorpal Saber. - Devaron9

Magneto! The charismatic, self-righteous, stubborn, complex, powerful, smart, self-educated, once-was-a-victim villain. Yes, he's quite like IDW/TFP Megatron. :) He also joined the X-men, (believed his mind) was altered without his consent, and was tried for his crime, at a point or another.
The character you never expected to love so much: (이렇게 많이 사랑하게 될 줄 몰랐던 캐릭터)
Rodimus from MTMTE. I usually don't like this type of characters.
Pepe. My little bird friend. Always with me. (Or Vol'jin. He made me proud of being a Darkspear troll.)
Steve Rogers. Still can't believe I sold my soul to this guy.
The character you relate to the most: (가장 공감하는 캐릭터)
Too many. MTMTE Ultra Magnus/Minimus Ambus, Orion Pax, Lug, Cylonus, TF ongoing Bumblebee, Rodimus, Ultra Magnus, Optimus Prime, and so on.
Myself. I'm a troll hunter of Darkspear.
Not sure. Maybe MCU Maria Hill??
The character you’d slap: (따귀 때리고 싶은 캐릭터)
Characters? Not really. Creators? Maaayyyybeeee...
Once in a while I slap my friends and NPCs for being a jerk.
MCU Drax. I'd love to beat him down with my Asian woman power.
Three favorite characters in order of preference: (좋아하는 순서대로 캐릭터 셋)
Megatron. Soundwave. Optimus Prime. Not so sure about the order.
Vol'jin. Zul'jin. Slyvanas Windrunner. Vol'jin is my truest Warcheif. I follow Sylvanas only for his vengeance and last words. What can I say, I'm a prideful troll.
Steve Rogers. MCU Okoye. EMH Wasp.
A character you liked at first, but don’t anymore: (처음엔 좋아했지만 이젠 좋아하지 않는 캐릭터)
Mmmm no one? I didn't like some characters at first and still am not fond of them much.
Thrall. He became too... Metzen.
Some MCU Characters. They/their actors are too misogynist or racists or both.
A character you didn’t like at first but do now: (처음엔 싫어했지만 지금은 좋아하는 캐릭터)
Uh... no one? It's more like the characters I was not interested in but now I like. Maybe most of the Lost Light crew.
Garrosh Hellscream. He's not MY warchief, but a good character with a lot of potential. Too bad Blizzard wasted the chance to develop him.
I can't come up with anyone.
Three OTPs: (최애컾 셋)
Optimus Prime x Megatron. Soundwave x Megatron. Ultra Magnus/Minimus Ambus x Megatron. Haha. Basically I like most of Megatron pairings. Excluding them, KOBD, Cygate, Grimfire.
Nothing??? I used to love Doomhammer x Zul'jin but things have changed too much since Tides of Darkness. Though I still enjoy troll-centric fanworks and others.
Tony x Steve. MCU Steve x Peggy. EMH Hawkeye x Black Widow. Too bad they canceled Agent Carter and EMH.

Why does Masterpiece Hot Rod exist? MP Rodimus Prime was engineered to become both versions of the character, with the height-changing gimmick in robot-mode. Seems a waste of Tomy's budget.
Because MP Rodimus Convoy was a piece of fragile shit that broke easily and had terrible QC issues for a supposed collector's grade toy. Seriously, are you forgetting that the Black Rodimus Convoy repaint's knees would literally snap meaning you couldn't transform it?
Also it's not to scale with the new MP's like the recent MP Hot Rodimus is.

Scene Comparisons From Transformers: Superlink/Energon (Episode 50)
I found two clips of the same scene, but with different languages (and graphics).  The scene in Episode 50 where Galvatron becomes enormous as well as Optimus Prime, and how the media went from CGI to hand drawn may be one of the best moments in Transformers: Superlink (Japanese with English subtitles) and Energon (English dub).  Although, personally, I have no problems with the CGI (it is not perfect, but I don’t think it is awful like many fans say it is), and I find it really interesting how a work has a mix of both 3D and 2D animation (mixed media).
I will start with the Superlink version, first.  Here is the clip:
youtube
In this scene, we see the behemoth Galvatron admiring his new super form, and declared himself “the Transcendent Emperor of Destruction, Galvatron-sama.”  Optimus Prime (hell, I will call him Grand Convoy in this version), while still big enough, declared he can do the same; so he became enormous like Galvatron, combined with the Grand Force, and declared himself “the [Autobot] Supreme Commander, Grand Convoy” while beginning the fight.  Note that both characters became hand drawn (probably because CGI couldn’t be THAT consistent with the animation).  Galvatron was actually really gleeful to fight Grand Convoy (he would get infuriated when anyone interferes with the fight, because he wanted to fight his rival one-on-one without anyone else joining the fight; he mentioned earlier that he wanted a fair fight, and he GOT a fair fight... maybe), and clashed with his old enemy.  Once their fists were together, they created a blueish lightning impact that crushed some of the rocks below (probably to show how forceful such impact is).
Snowstorm and Irontread were pleased that Galvatron was no longer possessed by Unicron, and he was acting like his old self, again (“although bigger,” said Irontread); by old self, meaning an agressive, impulsive, and stubborn Decepticon (or Destron) leader.  Rodimus Convoy was surprised that Grand Convoy and Galvatron were not only fighting each other directly, but also fighting off their possession from Unicron, who corrupted them with an ominous power; Hot Shot was also surprised.  Omega Supreme caught a sight on Grand Convoy and Galvatron fighting, also surprised.
Grand Convoy performed a “Grand Force Impact,” which shot off lightning bolts and another forceful phenomenon that caused an explosion; but it did not affect Galvatron, as he charged at the Autobot (or Cybertron) leader without a single scratch, and drew a blade at Grand Convoy, who was trying to block it with his arm.
One of the Autobots (I think it is Overdrive; there is also Wing Saber, and another Autobot in which I cannot decipher who because of the flames) was surprised that Grand Convoy was more aggressive, more powerful, and more determined than ever before; he really didn’t expect that.  Nightscream was surprised and nearly lost for words, while Shockfleet was just swooning over Galvatron (he has a crush on the Decepticon leader).
Grand Convoy and Galvatron were still fighting in their gigantic modes.  Galvatron diverted Grand Convoy’s attention, transformed, and kicked him, but Grand Convoy caught his balance, and kicked the Decepticon back, but it did not affect Galvatron as much (besides stumbling a little bit); suddenly, Galvatron stabbed Grand Convoy with his blade, and claimed victory, until Grand Convoy electrocuted him, and did the unthinkable: Combining their corrupted sparks (as well as his Combination Spark), sealing them into his body, and disappearing into the atmosphere along with Galvatron.
I was stunned by not only the graphics and soundtrack, but by the fight scenes, the leaders’ determination, seeing Galvatron back to normal without being possessed by Unicron, and Optimus Prime trying to stop the corruption by sealing it into his own body (unless that was Primus, but it sounded like Optimus was declaring the fate).  Of course, there are still many awesome scenes and moments in Superlink, as well; not just this scene.
Now, let’s see the Energon version of the scene:
youtube
(The first time I saw this clip in sound, it was so horrible, I paused it before I saw the great battle; to me, that was even worse than some 4Kids dubs (individuals are different; sometimes we can tolerate certain works, but other times, it is far too much to bear); I wish I was brave enough to at least watch the clip with sound, but too bad I wasn’t; I am glad I saw the original version, first, though.  The good news is, there are subtitles, but I don’t guarantee they will be accurate, but I will try my best to decipher them.)
In this scene, Galvatron calls himself “the new-and-improved emperor of the dark side” (Star Wars reference, here), which did not sound as menacing as “the Emperor of Destruction,” rather, it was somewhat amusing.  Optimus Prime seems unconvinced, but then proceeds to battle Galvatron.  First, he combined with the Prime Force, said “let me introduce myself” (as if Galvatron does not know who you are), and called himself “supreme leader of the Autobots,” which sounds a little more boastful than the original version (Superlink sounded more determined, in my opinion).  Galvatron thought that was funny (as did I).  The fight began.  And, seeing how this version seemed choppy and less detailed, Energon, like Armada (originally Micron Legend), is rushed and not very smooth (the visuals are bad enough, already; don’t worsen the moment with the voice acting).
The reactions from Snow Cat and Demolishor are nearly the same (just with different wording), although Demolishor said Galvatron gained a few tons (as if to say Galvatron is overweight), which is lame, because Galvatron grew many yards or miles tall, NOT gained more mass or weight by a thousand pounds times 100 heavy; not even 4Kids would have made the pun slide if Energon were to be redubbed.  Rodimus Prime said, “since Galvatron was holding back on the power he stole from Unicron,” and Hot Shot responded with “yeah, and that’s what worries me;” which would have made sense had not the show been rushed (what do you mean by “holding back on the power he stole from Unicron?”  I don’t recall Galvatron “stealing” Unicron’s power, although he did use too much power, so that would be understandable; but the wording threw me off).
We see more choppiness when Optimus Prime was preparing the final blow, and the explosion was just a black puffball (how weak of an explosion!); and then Galvatron charged at Optimus in stills (one picture, then another, without any real motion).  There was no real force when Optimus blocked the blade (besides the expressions from Optimus and Galvatron).
One of the Autobots (presumably Cliffjumper) commented how pumped-up the Autobot leader is; he doesn’t seem too surprised like Overdrive was in Superlink.  Starscream didn’t say anything (but his mouth was moving; really bad lip synching, there); Mirage was cheering for Galvatron to win (in this version, Mirage doesn’t have an obvious crush on Galvatron, but there have been really subtle hints).
While Superlink went to black and then cut to the next scene with Galvatron and Optimus still fighting (probably indicating that time had passed), Energon cut immediately to the fight scene.  When Galvatron kicked Optimus Prime, you can see the blurr effects in stationary, and the motion was choppy, YET again.  When a flash appeared, the cut freeze-framed before we get to see Galvatron’s reaction to being kicked back.  Galvatron stabbed Optimus, claimed victory, and got electrocuted with Optimus saying the following line:
“It seems we’re both filled with the power of Unicron.  Well, it’s time I take it and put it in the maze” (didn’t make any sense, whatsoever; I don’t think even the subtitles thought it made sense, either).
We see Galvatron’s mouth move, but he didn’t say anything (more lip synching failure).  While Optimus and Galvatron were disappearing (or shrinking), we just see them dissipating into the atmosphere with no other surrounding light other than the yellow beam.
Yeah, the Energon version was (I will say this) awful.  No wonder this Transformers work was hated by many fans (especially those who saw the English dub first/only).  Since I saw Superlink first (which I thought could be better, even though it was still an awesome Transformers anime; I liken it to The Transformers: The Movie (1986), since they killed off my favorite characters, and there wasn’t enough character development for some of the newer characters (like Springer, Wreck-Gar, and Kranix), even though I wanted to see/know more about them; the film and the anime are very similar to each other), I wasn’t affected by the monstrosity in Energon.  Although, when I tried to watch Energon, it was too much to bear (some of the animation was bad enough, but the voice acting was worse); I starting watching other works (mostly movies and TV shows, as well as listened to music, and compared Sonic X sub vs. dub for humor (as well as hypothesizing what if 4Kids got the Unicron Trilogy and made it better, but not great)) to get the rushed dub out of my head, and I started to rewatch some clips from Micron Legend as well as Superlink (to me, the originals are more tolerable, and are usually the best).
I have a recommendation: if you want to see a certain work, don’t look for the dubbed version, first; try out the original version, and maybe see the dub next.  You may like one better than the other, and some parts may be better than others, as well.  You may like the original, or you may like the dub; individuals are different, after all.
Looks like that is all I will be saying for now.  I plan to rewatch the two Transformers anime shows as well as watch Bumblebee (2018) again, and also Sonic X (original version with subtitles) during my spare time.  My next classes are coming up soon, so I may not post as much; but that doesn’t mean I won’t be back.  I have mentioned earlier that I am an on-and-off Tumblr user; having other things to do is one of the reasons.
Everyone else, have fun exploring more content you like, and please be cordial and respectful to one another.
Stay tuned for future posts.
