Good morning 🌞 When I was a child, nana and I would venture to New Orleans for herbs and materials to make gris-gris and mojo for her clients. I looked forward to these trips, candy and soda was sure to follow as a treat for being a good boy. On these trips she also taught me about the humanity within and how it empowers others. Nana always said this when we came across a beggar : : " Child, give that man a dollar, he just looked us up and down. He could be an angel or one of the Saints. See they be tryin' to test us and see into our hearts." : : This practice never truly meant anything to me until I became a spirit worker myself. I can't tell you how many times I've consulted spirit and they pointed to a time when I was confronted with someone that had far less than myself; how they decided to assist in my work bc of my charity and care for ' one of theirs' I say all this for one reason, we are all on this journey of life. Everyone has value in the eyes of spirit. Act accordingly, you never know who that down-and-out individual actually is, could be a test from the universe. RESURRECTION PLANT - Rose of Jericho Is a curious plant that is a powerful staple in hoodoo. I learned about it's capability from my grand parents as it is a staple in our spirit work. Here you see an arrangement I have in the place I'm living in right now. This arrangement is meant to bring me more money and opportunities for #thebloodbrotherchronicles In the middle is a honey jar, one with Master root, Angelica root, some small pieces of Lapis and a High John root. This is placed in a bottle with a cork (metal top is fine) mix together with honey and a little cinnamon and dried orange peels. This is an overall money and good will drawer, bringing good luck, love and money. : Resurrection Plant My Jericho is actually four plants in one bowl, representing the four elements. Over the months I've consecrated the plant with High John root, Master root, Cloves and Cinnamon. Place these ingredients at the bottom (not too much, a pinch and a root of each will do, more than that will kill the plant) Over time, these roots will break down as you change the water every other day. What happens is that the Jericho becomes infused with the power of these roots and powders, making her even more all purpose. I've since added another High John root, of which will eventually break down, it's mojo soaked up into her roots. With the Jericho, you can place money, written petitions, names and birthdates of people that need attention and love, ( or hexing but that's another way treating and infusing the Jericho) Now sit back and enjoy the blessings. Spiritual Lamps - Speaking With The Ancients --------------------------------------------------------- Posted by Theo Beaulieu As I flick through other spiritual brethren, I'm amazed in wonder as I get to witness so much of your spirit work. All kinds of candles in all shapes, all kinds of uses, so many ritualistic practices, all beautiful and eclectic as we are. There is one thing I have noticed, no one uses spiritual oil (olive and or animal fat) as a way to communicate with the age old Gods. Candles are a young invention, mostly utilized by Europeans for over 700 years, usually for lighting homes and daily tasks, but they were never used for ceremonial energy work or spiritual practices. Agrippa of Germany , known for his astute knowledge of angels and deamons, creating the Solomon Seals many of us still use in hoodoo, he never used candles in spirit work. He was quoted as saying this when asked : : " God allows certain grandiosity when laying forth a petition. Only what he is accustomed to should be used henceforth." : : I found this personification of The Almighty funny and wonderful, but it spoke loud and clear to me. When doing spirit work, Agrippa used the old ways, spirit lamps, probably cold pressed virgin olive oil. As long as what works for you works, all is awesome, but I like to adhere to old practices my ancestors probably took part in.
