god… them. another batch of oldies you may like. ahem.

so, starting off: blitz was the name of the character who is now called blackpeak many many moons ago. blackpeak suits him much better but unfortunately doesn’t have a nickname that rolls off the tongue as easily 💀. he’s the elder brother of moonglend (by several centuries) and is a dragon of the vampire subspecies, like her. though—back in the day before i decided to make vampire classes, he was just a straight up dragon lol (as was moonie).

he and corsel met several hundred years ago (i have refigure out how they met because the previous way was very very tied into the fact that he was a dragon lmao) and blackpeak took an interest in corsel. he was quite a prolific lover back then, and as such corsel didn’t take his flirts or affections too seriously. after 100 years of knowing each other corsel finally gave into himself and blackpeak’s affections and they became committed lovers. this didn’t necessarily stop blackpeak from flirting but he was only sleeping with corsel ya feel?

this lovely arrangement comes crashing down when corsel’s family asks him to return home and lead their clan. he’s actually from greenland and the small jotunn community there is tight knit but his father passed and they need a new leader. corsel asks blackpeak to come back with him—they don’t have to be wed or anything but just. not to leave him. but this freaks blackpeak out and he goes off to think but… he’s not there the next morning which makes corsel believe that he was right to be suspicious of blackpeak and foolish for letting himself fall for him. however, he doesn’t feel he can face his family so instead he runs away into seclusion. blackpeak returns after coming to his senses but finds corsel missing… then spends a hundred years trying to find him but has to give up his search when his sister, moonglend, is suddenly born and she’s dumped onto him (so closer to modern day since moonie is only 27).

they do meet again bc over the years both of them have become acquainted with lizette (darren’s mom) and when things happened that started the mess that will reach its peak in darren’s story she calls on each of them separately for help and they don’t know it until blackpeak (who was traveling cross world with liz and co) finds out that the head of this coven that lizzie wants to talk with is… none other than corsel.

corsel is furious to see him but blackpeak’s heart aches and the piece mistakes is basically them reconciling and getting back together again after spending some time at the coven together.

i don’t wanna show off that piece because SOOOOO much info about it has been retconned and i need to scrap it and completely do it over but it UGH has such a special place in my brain i love them. it’s very jihan and hue energy but corsel is so extremely bitter 💀

oh, corsel aside from being the head of said coven is also awilda’s elder distant cousin. he’s also been defrosting for awhile since said coven is also in mexico so he’s a bit more general elf like than jotunn like. but his handle over ice is still fearsome :3

It's been an an absolute pleasure to work with @blackpeaks and @riserecords on this triptych of images, available as a collection of 12" x 12" screen prints with the first 150 copies of the band's new album -"All that Divides"... I'll be hand printing them very soon at @screenartscreenprinting ! I was asked to not only try to represent the music but to contemplate the huge themes that such a title brings to mind- the three images are a somewhat abstract attempt to depict the clash of light and dark, the cognitive with the primal, the masculine with the feminine, the shadow with the higher self.
