Me again. Was there ever a moment where you thought "y'know maybe Octavia isn't that good of a character?" I've had plenty of people ask me especially after she burned the greenery down so I'm curious what you think.

Hmmm...I guess it depends on which definition of “good” we’re going with. Are we talking about her being a good person, or a compelling character? Because I do think there’s a difference, and I think that difference is part of what allowed me to ride out the low points of Octavia’s story arc - the burning of the hydrofarm being, perhaps, the lowest.

Octavia has definitely struggled with being a good person, but I think all of the other characters have, too. What separates Octavia from a characters like Bellamy or Clarke is her willingness and insistence in being a weapon, in directly getting her hands dirty. Because of that, I think the blood on her hands is a bit brighter, even though she has a pretty similar body count to her brother and to Clarke. Her “crimes” are harder to ignore.

But at the same time, Octavia has never killed for pleasure or purely for personal gain. She’s killed out of self-defense, as a soldier in war, as an assassin, and as a tyrant forcing survival cannibalism - all definitely fucked-up reasons to kill, but very similar to the reasons everyone else has killed, too. She’s certainly not bad in the way McCreary was, despite the way some in fandom like to view her.

So do I think Octavia is a good person? Yes, and no, much in the way I view pretty much every other character on this show. We’re talking about mass murderers and colonizers and warlords, after all. “Good” is very relative.

But I find her struggle very compelling to watch. If she was always making the right decisions, if she was perfect and never made any mistakes, she wouldn’t be nearly as interesting. Watching her fall and then rise again is part of what makes her one of the better characters on this show, imo.

I feel sad for her when she makes mistakes, when she loses herself. I don’t think the worst things she’s done - mercilessly beating up a bound Bellamy, burning down the hydrofarm, and shooting the non-compliant people in the bunker - are good choices, and it hurts to see her do those things. But even as it hurts, I can’t look away.

Ultimately, this is a show full of gray characters. What draws us to one or the other is really hard to say, and I think it’s totally different for everyone. I can’t really explain, for example, why I love Octavia but find myself frustrated by Clarke. So I do understand why some people just can’t get behind Octavia, and don’t like her.

But I don’t think that makes her a bad person, or any worse than the other mains. They’ve all got a metric ton of blood on their hands, and some of them haven’t even had to do the work to earn redemption the way she has. 

That alone makes her a good character to me, even if her moral compass has been wonky at times.

Summary: With the war for Eden practically over, McCreary presents Wonkru with three choices: continue to fight and die, flee to the wasteland and starve, or surrender on the condition that they help his people get back on their feet. As Bellamy and his friends struggle to adjust to their new grim reality, Clarke succumbs to her dark side and impulses after ostracization from some of her friends; jeopardizing her relationship with her mom, Madi, and the few still close to her and pulling her closer to McCreary.

Diyoza had returned from Abby’s med office half an hour later. And Bellamy found himself pleasantly surprised that McCreary didn’t check on the situation. Perhaps he did not think false labor was worth his time. That he had something else on his mind.

Though Bellamy hated to think what it was. As nothing good could go through his mind.

Anyone who has only spent an day here would be think that Dani McCreary had unsavory intentions when leading Avery away towards the cabins, given who her dad is. Bellamy wondered what that was about, but shelved it away in his head. That it was personal.

And he doubt that Avery would answer that.

“Do you think there’s something about our new friends that we don’t know about?” Monty asked as the two trooped off to the gas station. Monty having said something about wanting to help with their botany.

“Do you think there is something?” Bellamy asked Monty, thinking about what happened between Avery, Dani, and Sarah in the church last night.

“I don’t know but there’s something about them…I don’t know,” Monty answered. “Like they are hiding something.”

“Hiding something or not, there is something odd about them,” Harper concurred.

If Monty was concerned whether there was something odd about them, maybe he should too. Then again, Bellamy had too much on his plate these days.

He could hear the first segment of Vivaldi’s Winter play from somewhere as he stepped in the gas station. Which was in stark contrast to the rock and heavy metal that the Eligius miners preferred. From his memory, the last faction that preferred classical music was Mount Weather. Not there was anything wrong with classical music but he could not shake that association from his head.

Can't believe I have to say this but it's showing one my dash so here we go.

Racism, homophobia, and biphobia have no place in this or any fandom.

I don't care about the Arryn/Bob situation because I have other things to worry about right now. I don't care who you side with or who you believe as long as you aren't attacking anyone IRL or online.

I have seen some racist ass comments towards Bob. If you are using this situation to justify or make racist comments about Filipinos, get out. Just log out and find something else for you to do. Literally go dig a hole and sit in it until you realize how fucked that is. I don't care that you hate him or are feeling what you feel, you do not get to do that. With the things that are going on in the world right not (US especially) the last thing we need is you making racist comments and content.

There are people who are once again attacking Eliza for being straight and in a hetero relationship and saying she deserves all this hate and again the miscarriage. Disgusting. Even it Eliza was bisexual, bi people can be in opposite-sex relationships. Why is that so hard to get? And guess who is bi? Arryn. The person who some of you are claiming you loved from the start but I know for a damn fact you hated on her for nothing before.

And no this isn't because I ship anyone or "you're just mad canon doesn't fit into your hetero normative bullshit".

I AM LITERALLY BISEXUAL AND QUEER. I want more LGBT+ characters and representation but targeting an actor for not being what you want them to be is not how to do it.
