Jökulsárlón so blue ice. Why is glacial ice so dang blue? Because the red part of the electromagnetic spectrum is absorbed by the ice and the blue light is transmitted and scattered. The longer the path of light travels in ice, the more blue it appears. So, once again it is all about the light! #clayhausphotography #jokulsarlon #jokulsarlonglacierlagoon #blueice #icelandtravel #icelandscape #sonyrx100vii (at Jökulsarlón) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cii78g_vnGN/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Why is this glacier ice at Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska blue?
Glacier ice is blue because the red (long wavelengths) part of white light is absorbed by ice. The blue (short wavelengths) light is transmitted and scattered. The longer the path that light travels in ice, the more blue it appears! The more you know 🌈 🎵
