This made my day. I could tell that Beyoncé was inspired by Jack's work by the first track of her new album Ameriican Requiem.

Jack White - No Name
Many years ago, my buddy and I coined the phrase “guitars and stuff,” because there’s a certain demographic of rock and metal fans that think music with guitars is all that matters (with some exceptions, of course, but there’s usually some nefarious reason for that). If it’s pop, rap, country, or any other kind of music that doesn’t have guitars front and center, these types of fans don’t like it and write it off completely, but most of those fans tend to grow up and realize that there is a lot of great music out there that encompasses so many genres, not just rock. If you limit yourself to one or two genres, that gets boring, but as much as I would use that to describe straightforward rock or metal albums that didn’t do anything but just that, there’s some merit there.
There’s nothing wrong with a solid rock album, even today. A lot of the best “guitars and stuff” albums are from the 1970s and 1980s, which are the two decades where rock music really dominated. Rock music was still around in the 90s and 00s, but under different forms, and other types of music were being pioneered and made popular. Sometimes, though, to make a great album, especially when you haven’t had a great album in a long time, you need to go back to basics. Instead of complicating your sound, just make something that goes hard, which is exactly what Jack White did on his newest album, No Name.
This record was a surprise release, as people got a 12” record with every purchase at his every storefront location of his label, Third Man Records. It was a white record with a white sleeve that just said “no name.” He finally put it out on streaming, and it took me a few days to listen to it, but it’s great. Let me back up for just a second, because Jack White is one of those artists I’m mixed on. I like some of his stuff with The White Stripes, where he made a name for himself in the 00s, but people also know him for his solo career (and a few side projects).
His last few solo albums have been very hit or miss, so I was cautious about this one, but surprisingly, it’s a fun, energetic, bluesy, and loose blues-rock album that brings the noise, riffs, hooks, and blues. It has a couple small issues, but nothing that truly hinders the experience. If you want an album with “guitars and stuff,” you’ll get it. This album is 44 minutes of nonstop guitars, which is both a good thing and bad thing, depending on if you want variety, because that is the biggest issue here. This album is very repetitive, and like the new Home Team album, certain songs stick out more than others and the songs that don’t stick out as much just fade into the background.
With that said, everything here is done well, whether it’s the hooks, White’s vocals, and the riffs. This is a very riff-heavy album, but it’s got a lot of hooks, too. It shows him doing what he does best, along with having fun again, versus trying to make some kind of artistic statement. You don’t always need to do that, just make something you’ll have fun with, and it should be fine. I’ve never been a big Jack White fan, but I can appreciate his catchier and more fun material, such as this album.
This is easily his best album in years, and that’s not just me saying that, it’s unanimous that people are really loving this thing, but I will say that its lack of variety does bring the album down a peg, just because I don’t find myself remembering a lot of songs here. They’re all great, but the album blends together, which can happen with albums in this vein. That’s par for the course with guitar-based music, especially if nothing else is there to break up that sound, but for what it’s worth, this album is still really good. I don’t know if it’s a top album of the year, but it’s a solid record that’s worth hearing if you like rock or blues music.

Jack White- NO NAME review
woah. just woah. leave it to Jack White to surprise me with some of his best work in YEARS. the man sounds like he's in his 20s as he approaches 50.
this is gen x rock at its absolute best. this album never wavers below a 7 out of 10 each track. i'm sitting here listening to this album considering this for album of the year contention and it just dropped on spotify.
leave it to Jack White to release an album that I immediately love more than any album. a lot of my favorite musical artists released albums this year. MGMT and The Decemberists most notably, but Jack White GENUINELY stole the show.
Billie Eilish, move over, there's a new mothtunes poster child album of 2024.

(Masz sugestie? Pisz [email protected] w tytule: TIDAL/PLAYLIST)
Zawiera:
Tumblr media
Eddie 9V, Living Colour, Wild International, Faith No More, Rage Against The Machine, Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix, Reignwolf, Highly Suspect, White Stripes, Jack White, Audioslave, Arctic Monkeys, Tool, The Raconteurs, Stone Temple Pilots, Cleopatric, The Blue Stones, Royal Blood, The Clash, Electric Six, The Police, Pearl Jam, The Heavy, Dinosaur Jr. & Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, Incubus, Nothing But Thieves, Foals, and more
Niestety będziecie musieli odpalić Tidala aby odsłuchać zawartość. Czemu używam Tidala? Ponieważ to jedna z niewielu platform streamingowych która oferuje bezstratne pliki w rozdzielczości high-resolution. Aż do 24-bit, 192 kHz, HiRes FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec).
https://tidal.com/playlist/ae0b8d05-b073-4f73-9593-af03b2ea830d
Polecam odsłuch z pomocą wzmacniacza, DAC'a lub oddzielnego streamera hi-fi. No i oczywiście z pomocą pary przyzwoitych głośników (back to *)

Jack White - No Name
«È tornato!» Così dicono, ancora stupefatti, i suoi discepoli.

Welcome to August! I’m currently at home recovering from a knee surgery, but that is going to prevent me from sharing all of this week’s great new music with you! New music like the latest (and final) album from punk legends X or dark alternative gods Smashing Pumpkins. Jack White‘s surprise No Name album is getting a proper full release, and we also have the debut album from buzz-worthy…
