true story btw, in my defense the computer was very cute and old, i kinda expected it to be dead but aside from lack of internet connection it's chuggin along very well!

It was stressful, and dreadful because I have no money and hate when things spring on me, but it should be nice to use a computer no longer comprised of 2016 and older parts.
I just hope it isn't a complete hassle getting it "set" to my liking, but I guess I do have a lot of time to do that lol

told my mom about my childhood kleptomaniacal habits like stealing littlest pet shops and bella sara cards and ds games from my friends houses and she was like. i dont like that you did that but i guess theres nothing i can do about it now. and then she goes ‘do you still have any of that stuff?’ and i had to tell her about my epic heist in sixth grade where this kid Nathan lent me his copies of Luigi’s Mansion, Thousand Year Door, and Super Mario Sunshine and on the last day of school I brought them to give back to him but I didnt see him all day and then just as I was leaving for car line I saw him walking away down the hall and I, fully knowing that he was switching schools and I would never see him again, made the conscious decision to pretend that I hadnt seen him. And now 14 years later I still have those games and I dont regret it at all. And then in like 8th grade I saw that he had made a Facebook post exposing me for stealing his games and offering a monetary reward for their return girl he put a bounty on me!!
#his first mistake was lending those three games out in the first place#and there was a disk of DK Jungle Beat in there too but i couldnt ever play it bc I didnt have the drums#and i didnt have a gamecube controller for a few weeks so I would just boot up super mario sunshine and watch the into cutscene on repeat

Up next: windows 10
#i got it with windows 8.1 and if i destroy it now i know how to do it again#so the steps are: downgrade from yosemite to mountain lion#go into info.plist and delete the word Pre from preusbbootable or whatever#add 12.1 as the model in that list#run bootcamp#if the windows says no bootable disk just press alt until its in that booting mode and then click the usb#start installing windows and custom set it to whichever partition you want#if it says the parition is in the wrong format-- theres an indian guy online who said click out and go to repair settings#and then advanced. open terminal#and then do some funny little disk list commands (forgot. FIND THE VIDEO!!!!!!!)#then try again to install windows and then chilling. and then go into usb open bootcamp and run the exe for drivers#and then youre back at windows 8.1 again on the imac12.1#indian guy is an uncle and the video is 4-5 minutes long with only a few hundred likes#my ass is never finding that video again#my work account keeps browser history on autodelete

hate it when computers work normally and perfectly. its not right. girl where is your specific ritual which only the owner knows
#my laptop (or rather the laptop i use daily; technically its the family computer but nobody else uses it) dual boots win7 and win10#and as a result of that is sometimes goes a bit screwy when you boot it up#the sort of established thing is that i pretty much exclusively use it for windows 7#and my mum and sister exclusively use it for windows 10#so this only really affects me#but sometimes when you put it to sleep when it's running win7#it will go Nuh Uh and not load win7#so you have to go along with the dialogue#let it reboot when it tells you to#select windows 7 when it turns back on#then it says you need the repair disk#so then you have to hold down the power button until it blinks 3 times#then turn it back on#select windows 7#and it works perfectly again#it's excellent i love it#yapping

#blue chatter#Functionally very similar but Something’s going on in there that u can’t see#OneHalf is a computer virus which infected .exe files of MS-DOS computers#It wrote a decryption key to the master boot record#as well as instructions to encrypt the last two unencrypted sectors of the hard disk upon startup#it was found in the wild in 1994#removing OneHalf without a specialized tool completely bricked your computer depending on how long you had it#bc if you attempted to install a clean copy of the MBR without carefully decrypting your encrypted data first#there’d be no way to unencrypt your files and you’d be screwed

hmm love reading a poast about computer hardware thats wrong and gonna get ppl to waste their money
#i dont wanna like start drama or shit#i5 is NOT equivalent to ryzen 7#8 gb of ram is barely enough with modern web browsers#im currently using 8.4 gb on firefox alone#you can fit most modern gpus in most modern matx cases#im running an matx case right in front of me that clearly has the room for a three fan shroud#as someone who has worked in computer hardware for 7+ years#the idea of being like “just buy a dell or hp” is absurd to me#do you even understand the concept of upgradability of desktops if you suggest them#DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF EWASTE#also most hard disks come with some sort of jostle protection#ive dropped my hard disks from my shoulder height and they boot fine#ough rant over i just needed to get that out#hashtage autism moment
