The villain of bohemian rhapsody (2018) vs the villain of rocketman (2019)

In bohemian rhapsody the villain is paul prenter, Freddie mercury's manager. And the problem with this character is that he is truly portrayed as a disney villain, sitting in the background twirling his moustache hatching his evil plan to destroy Freddie mercury's life.

My problem with this is that paul prenter in this biopic is portrayed as an incredibly flat character.

Really he is only there to be a scapegoat for all the problems that queen and Freddie mercury faced, influenced by the input of may and taylor who are admittedly biased against prenter, who were happy to villanize prenter in a movie that glossed over their own flaws.

And I cast a hex over every person who villainized him for being a gay man with aids and claims he killed Freddie mercury when their only source is the fanfic of bohemian rhapsody (2018)

Conversely the villain of rocketman is john Reid, elton John's manager who he had a romantic relationship with.

John Reid relationship with elton john is initially an exciting one, we are shown positive intimacy between the two, there is a whole sequence of them happily living in a relationship together.

It then turns sour and we see how that relationship effects elton john negatively. But the movie never shies away from eltons faults or tries blame them wholly on john ried, in fact elton John's problems expand way beyond kohn Reid influence.

Additionally, the fact that john Reid is initially viewed in a positive light, rounds the character of Reid more, and it helps us understand why Elton John got stuck in the relationship in the first place.

Compared with Prenter in Bohemian Rhapsody, who was always flatly nothing more than a bad person, which begged the question the question in the narrative of 'why in hell did Freddie Mercury ever put up with him'

Therefore so too we can only conclude that rocketman is superior

Just because I view watching Bohemian Rhapsody as a fictional film, and not at all like a realistic portrayal of the character, BoRap Freddie will be bisexual, and when I write for real Freddie, he'll be gay.

I finally saw The Apprentice and I’m speechless. During the movie you can easily forget that Sebastian is playing Tump and Jeremy is playing Roy. Ali and the whole crew are fucking geniuses!

I saw it this weekend as well!

Loved the acting and the photography

At times it was a bit slow but it’s necessary.. i mean, the characters have to talk 🤣

Sebastian was GREAT, given the fact that they nominated Ana de Armas, Bradley and most importantly the BoRap biopic… they should nominate him as well

And towards the third act he really becomes identical looking to the mad orange my god

2023 CHARACTER WRAPPED

☆ Loki returns because I have mutuals who have been reblogging stories or have written masterful pieces (@/poetic-fiasco you specifically) and it made me remember my love for him.

☆ King Alfred. His character arc was wild, from him being a ho to so sexual repressed, it allowed a certain spice to be added to his every exchange with Uhtred... and I loved it.😆

☆ Lucia Aurelius [I Am The Villain, Webtoon]. I am obsessed with the art style, it is definitely my favorite comic for the year for me. It is a reused concept, but its pacing and narrative have me enthralled and I am just cheering for my girl 😭

☆ Freddie Mercury. I feel weird to place him, but it needs a mention since I dove into the BoRap fandom 5 years late and have fallen in love with this remarkable human being. This is because of his characterization by the talented Rami Malek and the literary creations by the masterful @inthedayswhenlandswerefew.

☆ Penelope Featherington. Her struggle between trying to become her own woman, while struggling with her unrequited for now crush and her own independence is relatable.

☆ Literally anyone from the One Piece live action. I am putting Mihawk cause he is pretty and cunty, but the whole damn cast, from MCs to side characters, was fucking amazing. I personally adored every episode, but please note that I have never seen the anime nor while I ever watch it as we are 1100+ episodes into it and I do not have the attention span.

☆ Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. Returning to break my heart all over again.

☆ Aemond Targaryen. We knew he would be on this damn list. I love Ewan's portrayal of him and I loved the hot mess Aemond is in Fire & Blood. I am ready for season 2, whatever may come.

☆ I am stealing this from @/lonnson and putting the Coccham Gang up as well. The Last Kingdom was my favorite series I indulged with and I have rewatched it quite a bit.

One of my favourite things when reading fanfiction is when you click with an author's style so much that you adore the fanfiction you're reading, and once it's over you need more. So you go to their page and hope that there's more for any fandom you might know- only there isn't any. They've written for other fandoms you aren't familiar with and never would've thought about before.

But you're down so bad for their style and talent that they got you wading in like:

That’s exactly what BoRap felt like like an extended SNL sketch only it was serious the fact that it went through every biopic cliche too is another thing.

yeah watching the weird al movie made me realize how borap specifically have used every possible cliche. pretty much all of the jokes applied
