decided to do a little relationship chart of my ocs....just as a fun exercise

It’s been a while since I’ve been in the mood to draw (and share) other drawings that are not the birthday portraits thanks to someone’s comments about my drawings not getting attention or people don’t liking them, but today I just felt in the mood for drawing some Alena and Volkov’s father-daughter moment.

Alena scaped from her fatjer until she was recaptured and while trying to brainwash her into believing the Borg 0 and BBA teams are her sworn enemies, Alena at first has trouble believing in her father again.

Sadly Volkov eventually succeeds and turns her into his soldier, but in the meantime, she was struggling with what Volkov made her believe and her memories from the short time she was with the Borg boys when she scaped from him the first time.

I drew a lazy background simulating Volkov’s office while he watches something on a screen and drinks tea XD

Blader DJ: the drama witness - GIF edition

Starring Michael Scott (The Office) as Blader DJ, Bladebreakers and Neoborg (initially it was supposed to include everyone but in the process I realised that the big drama is always between these two teams no joke)

Blader DJ when...

The Russian tournament kicked off and Yuriy won against Eddie from the All Stars in literally 2 seconds

Boris/Bryan Kuznestov threw a piece of debris into poor Rei's stomach (spoiler: Boris/Bryan didn't listen to him)

Kai Hiwatari left the Bladebreakers to join the Blitzkrieg Boys and effortlessly stole 7 bit-beasts with Black Dranzer

He found himself in front of an iceberg in the middle of the stadium inside which Yuriy created another dimension to battle Takao while perfectly managing 10 bit-beasts and people all around the world shitted their pants

Kai left the Bladebreakers again one year later to join Neoborg

Takao and Daichi lost their first match of the tournament because they were too busy yelling at each other

Kenny's poor bey fell apart after Yuriy's first Novae Rog

Straight after that Takao appeared out of nowhere, tried to jump over the railing to get into the stadium, Daichi started yelling at him, Takao yelled back that he wanted to play against Yuriy, Yuriy replied he didn't care, Kai commented he was scared and they started to argue, everyone was arguing and big drama ensued while the audience stood there watching

After the drama Daichi defeated Yuriy thanks to Kenny's help, teamwork and mutual trust

In Cairo Miguel really thought he had beaten Kai Hiwatari with just two flames

Kai threw away his scarf destroying half stadium and began cracking his knuckles in the semifinal against Rei

He's about to restart the match between Takao and Kai after they've destroyed the stadium and both collapsed on the ground but he's happy because wow the spirit of Beyblade

After the world tournament he blindly accepted the job at Volkov's BEGA unaware of what it really meant

Kai changed team again and joined BEGA

Yuriy turned out to be a good man who loves beyblade with all his heart and risked his life to stop BEGA and protect all other bladers and fans

The Bladebreakers managed to win against BEGA and yes he should be impartial but deep down he's always rooted for those guys

Bonus: Blader DJ threatening Kai Hiwatari if he dares to change team one more time

In the English dub of season 1 of Beyblade, it’s immediately obvious that Boris is a villain. In the Japanese version, Takehito Koyasu does a good job at making Volkov sound deceptively kind. He makes it sound like he honestly just lets the kids willingly use his abbey to train. And he doesn’t have that “it’s a pleasure to entertain young boys” quote that rubs me the wrong way.

I went slow in my manga rerun, but a friendly reminder that if the anime was closer in plot to the manga, we would’ve gotten Yuriy and Volkov on the 2002 arc and a much more interesting and better story for Zeo and Leon!

anyway on the topic of "goddamn they fucking wasted neo-borg like. as a whole" the issue i brought up of kai and yuriy in particular not really being allowed to show genuine emotion is super ironic considering the whole child soldier thing ESPECIALLY with yuriy cause like. when we saw him in season 1 he was under borg's command that whole time and okay so like. there's this particular moment in that final match against takao of yuriy wondering how, after everything, after the sheer cruelty he's been through, he's still losing. maybe it's just me but it feels like this brief little reminder that this is just a teenager. this is just a teenager who has been through some HORRIFIC shit.

and like idk man you'd expect them to like. follow up on that right? you'd THINK we'd get to see the members of neo-borg getting a chance to start a new life but also having to deal with the way their pasts have shaped them y'know!! and that's not even mentioning kai because like.. idk man it just feels like things would be Super Fucking Tense between them. there's another brief little moment this time in kai vs sergey of the latter calling kai "a weakling who ran from borg" and kai responding, telling sergey that he (and presumably the rest of his team) were too weak to run.

like just... i feel like there's an arc in there somewhere of kai and the rest of neo-borg realizing that both of their experiences were equally horrible and in the end coming together to truly put that past behind them. but in the end they just went from "mysterious intimidating team of really fucking strong bladers" to... "mysterious intimidating team of really fucking strong bladers".
