tell me about your reptiles? Please?
OKAY YAAY
I still mainly have ball pythons, but my favorites are my reticulated python and my boa constrictor!!
this is my boa, Irene

and my retic, Rearden. He's a 62.5% kalaotoa super dwarf, which means he was bred from a locality of retic that will only get about 6-8ft, rather than the 15ft+ of a mainland retic

and I've also got an anerythristic kenyan sand boa, Rootle, who mostly exists underground LOL

and the only colubrid I own a Baird's rat snake, Tuca

and last of the unique snakes is Katczinsky, my Borneo short-tailed python

and from here it's ball pythons all the way down 💀 I bred them once, which was fun, but for the most part I've rehomed majority of the ones I had. My favorites of the ones I still have are my piebalds, Xavier and Smores, the pinstripe I bred that I still haven't named, and my first rescue, Felix

I've run out of picture space but I also have a bearded dragon LOL she was also a rescue. I've toyed with the idea of getting another different species of snake, or just another reticulated python, but tbh I like having money now and reptiles make it hard to have money 💀 especially when the price of rodents is just ridiculous post covid. I feed all of them frozen/thawed, so none of them are exposed to the risks of feeding live, I've gotten really good at switching ball pythons from live food to frozen/thawed LOL

I adore your snakes! I've been considering (in the farish future) a borneo python or blood python, but I've heard short tailed pythons in general are quite bitey and being quite large can actually cause damage to wrists and such, is that your experience?
Hello! The Borneo and Sumatran short tails tend to be more mild mannered than Blood pythons, but even bloods can be calm! I have super sweet and spicy bloods, it'll depend on the individual and I'd go to a breeder and ask for their friendliest hatchling available. The innate personality is pretty apparent early on, though you can always earn the trust of more high strung ones too. A good breeder will be able to help you out with a wonderful pet of any of these species.
That said, they have very small teeth. I've taken some bites, including a feeding bite from an adult female, and it was pretty much nothing. The force behind the bite is strong, it'll bruise, but I wouldn't say it's too bad. They leave the same size tiny pin pricks as the teeth of a ball python.

Had Bakar out for some sun today! First time this year it's been warm enough, I think he enjoyed himself 🧡
I love how his salmon blushing is still so vibrant!

Hey, I’m getting a borneo short tailed python soon and I’ve read/watched a LOT about them but wanted a more personal opinion on care + general tips on them. Could you do that for me, if you know about them?
I love them. I posted quite a bit about their general care and what I’ve observed with Porthos (I know he’s a brongersmai not a breitensteini, but they’re similar enough in husbandry, I think).
Here’s one
Here’s another
I suggest you visit bloodpythons.com and read their extensive articles covering husbandry and all other kinds of things you might want to know

the kind of guy who gets a little disappointed when the snake a customer brings into the store is a juvenile reticulated python and not a borneo short tail python like i thought i saw at a distance because borneos are much more niche in the hobby
