that nh criticizes ss's marriage is so curious , what makes them think that theirs is fine and there is love?
well.... we know that boruto took care of nh by putting thousands of fillers where they are a happy family and naruto feels comfortable being there
"sarada criticizes her parents' marriage, showing that there is no love there, sasuke doesn't want to see his family, much less his wife"
and boruto didn't do it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
boruto, like sarada, is responsible for letting you know that both naruto and sasuke are not interested in their relatives or how they feel about their absence at home
At the beginning, boruto is like a hyena with rage because his father does not spend time at home, he misses important dates like birthdays and does not have time for him, he also doesn't have time for his wife because at sasuke's call, naruto ran away and didn't want any of her food, which was sent by his son.
The thing with nh is that it is more subtle than ss, because sasuke can freely express his emotions in the face of displeasure with sakura, but naruto can't, he is different, naruto will be good because hnt is not mean to him, apart from the fact that he was literally forced to marry her, his friends called him stupid for not paying attention to her, add to that the fact that naruto suffers from social pressure, so if the world wanted him to marry the first woman naruto liked, he won't say no.
but being nice and social pressure won't make naruto feel comfortable being there either.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
naruto is not comfortable in his office working all the time, but he also doesn't want to go home because he is not comfortable there either, when he is at home, he sleeps away from his family and he feels bored with his wife crying over a romance novel, (pst, this is so funny because nh really swears that naruto spends romantic time with hnt but the reality is that, she watching romantic movies and naruto bored being with her, naruto won't give she anything like that lol)
Another thing for which ss's marriage is criticized is because sakura makes sarada cry by hitting the ground because she got nervous seeing that her daughter is testing her marriage
crticism is fine, but again, them being criticized by nh is funny because again
Tumblr media Tumblr media
boruto also looks for a way to know why his father is not in the house, unlike sarada who cries, boruto gets angry and wants to hit and criticize naruto for this, And like sarada, boruto also seeks explanations from his mother, because she is supposed to be the closest person to his father.... or not?
boruto searches for explanations but what he finds is...
Tumblr media
If his mother is crying, because unlike sakura who is aggressive, hnt is not, she is very passive and oblivious to problems, then seeing her son angry about his pathetic marriage Instead of giving him an explanation, all she can do is cry, because, like sakura, she doesn't know her husband, hinata married naruto, but she doesn't know him for who he is hinata only knows naruto because of his fanaticism, she knows him as one more fan of the ones he had when he was young, damn, at least she knows some of naruto's hobbies?
absolutely not, and that's why sasuke must tell naruto's story to boruto to calm his anger against his father
that nh criticizes ss's marriage is hypocritical, because nh is not being different from ss's

I started to read Boruto and well I still do not like it but I have noticed one thing that is very interesting to me. Sasuke’s clone tree asks about Naruto almost all the time. We know that clones in Naruto and Boruto world have feelings of the person that creates them and I wonder what if Sasuke’s feelings about Naruto come forward and that is why his clone asks about him. These feelings must be very strong to even come to the surface because we know it is not really Sasuke. The funny thing is that this clone wants to kill Sarada, Sasuke’s daughter and if my theory is true then Sasuke does not feel that strong about Sarada and not to mention Sakura. He does not even mentioned her once xd SS stans want his clone to talk about Sakura. Again they give us proof that mentioning Naruto all the time is significant and they would label it romantic if it was Sakura. Sasuke’s love for Naruto brings in this clone some part of his consciousness.

True Uchiha clan not that bulshite shown in the Boruto series so called fake Uchiha pathetic historically ignorant family( Sakura and Sarada who treat clan crest some sort of ornaments or achievements or trophy to brag about or show off for them without knowing its struggle and past history and how you get to wear it) or how the story tries to revise Uchiha tragedy and the oppression and racism against the Uchiha collectively.

The effort put into the “who’s my mommy?” arc would’ve been better spent addressing the gay allegations. They know damn well that Karin is not the one people suspect Sasuke is cheating on Sakura with.

Was Itachi's forehead poke to Sasuke a sign of distancing himself and not wanting Sasuke to get involved, rather than just a mere sign of affection? I saw a few people talk about that and how it's weird that Sasuke does that to his family considering the original meaning.
yes, you've got an accurate handle on the original meaning of the Forehead Poke. fundamentally it is an expression of distance that itachi wields at times when he cannot be with sasuke. and it seems to be a throughline of his childhood: sasuke asks itachi to do something as mundane as train together but itachi continually refuses on account of his duties as a shinobi.
it is not a gesture devoid of love -- it's not as though itachi ever delights in dismissing sasuke (on the contrary, he is always regretful). but there's a cruelty in the uncertainty of it all: the most direct translation is "maybe next time", so itachi fails to provide even an assurance that they can, like, hang out next week or something. this chasm between them is then widened by itachi promising, on the night of the massacre, that he might allow a final battle between them if sasuke ever proves competent enough to bother fighting, leaving sasuke in protracted pursuit of the looming specter of his older brother.
this distance is really only bridged (barely) in their final scene when itachi lays bare the truth of his motives, his regrets (which are lacking, to put it mildly, but for sasuke this is nonetheless momentous), and his unconditional pride in and love for his little brother. the Forehead Poke is notably absent here because textually, the enforced distance wrt sasuke is framed as itachi's greatest wrong. (seriously, itachi says something to the effect of: i shouldn't have done All That because maybe you, my 7-year-old brother, could have brought change to our clan... thereby reducing inconvenience for konoha, of course. the paucity of virtue in massacring the uchiha doesn't really register for him even during this reconciliation, and it's deliberate... because the author doesn't see it as much of an issue either!)
Tumblr media
anyway, it might seem odd for sasuke to repeat this gesture with sakura in chapter 699, then, particularly because it seems to be invoked in a manner identical to itachi in his neglect. kind of an odd way to signify a happy ending for these characters, right...?
well, it works for me solely because it is not identical! and naruto's english dub is my worst enemy. i would grab a couple of manga panel screenshots in the original japanese to prove it, but it's easier for me to just plug these scenes from the anime. here is an itachi Forehead Poke (0:51) and here is sakura seeing sasuke off at the konoha gate (0:33). there's a subtle but meaningful distinction in the phrasing: "mata kondo da" vs. "mata kondo na". which, in effect, alter the meaning from "maybe next time" to:
Tumblr media
(there's an excellent tumblr post from years ago which performs a substantive analysis of the japanese in both contexts, but eludes me now. pls send if any of you have a link to it!)
so personally i adore its inclusion in chapter 699 specifically. it obviously carries a great deal of weight for sasuke and it's meaningful he chooses to express it to sakura specifically despite leaving the entire team behind -- in lots of ways, and more than any other character, i think for sasuke, sakura is the anti-itachi. (that would require another post to elucidate.) so not only is it an expression of regret at unintended distance, but, more crucially, it's a promise of return. i think it's incredibly sweet that sasuke can repurpose the gesture from something soul-rending to something hopeful.
(also deserving of another post lol but this scene also achieves a neat and, crucially, subversive callback to sakura's foundational insecurities... it's like poetry it rhymes)
all that said, i understand why it reads as something different once we are then given the context of chapter 700 and gaiden... i dislike both of these installments, primarily for the implication that distance becomes a love language, so to speak, between sasuke and sakura/sarada. these relationships are ruled by distance and sasuke accepts it. it's disappointing! his journey to learn about more of the world in chapter 699 jibed with the character's arc until that point. this does not.
my unpopular take is i think this has just about nothing to do with sakura or the sasusaku relationship and everything to do with authorial outlook on sasuke's actions in part 2. and for the record, i maintain that these crimes ultimately amount to very little -- violence and death are occupational hazards if one is a shinobi. konoha is also foregrounded by a cold calculus on the worth of human lives; i'm sure sasuke's indispensable role in saving the world outweighs the killing of a few samurai. i just think kishimoto needs sasuke to atone, somehow, forever, via endless service to the village. and he also cannot sensibly write a kakashi- or naruto-headed government that would impose any meaningful punishment, so sasuke is relegated to a state of permanent rootlessness in some dumbass quest. it's a sacrifice on his part, but contrived for a number of reasons, chief among them being that the sasuke we came to know in the original series would literally never internalize konoha's ideals in this manner. so even though the Forehead Poke in gaiden and boruto retains the elements of promise and anticipation of eventual reconciliation, it feels kind of... lame and weightless. there is a superficial signal at growth but materially, for the parties on the receiving end of the Forehead Poke, very little seems to change.
frankly, i think we are meant to view sasuke's love as noble (and sasuke himself as penitent, suggested by the ascetic quality of his life). sasuke is still doing things differently than itachi, insufficient though it may be: he is honest about the reason for his travels, he does not rush to dismiss sarada when she needs emotional support, his motives are selfless rather than selfish (sasuke guards against the threat of the otsutsuki; itachi... wanted sasuke to kill him, in no small part as a desperate ploy to end his own suffering, notwithstanding the subsequent damage that would be inflicted on his thoroughly traumatized little brother). gaiden is surprisingly candid about the distance as a source of distress for sarada, sakura, and even sasuke, but by the end everyone understands why it must be as it is. the state above all! (you'll notice even itachi's apology to sasuke held this precept intact... there is a reason the series closes with sasuke accepting his old hitai-ate.) it is admittedly vexing, considering the totality of evidence here, to see sasuke's nomadic status in boruto pinned on how much he hates his dumb bitch wife and not, you know. the shockingly bad politics underpinning the narrative.
i appreciate the attempts of sasuke enjoyers to explain his distance as natural aversion to konoha, but this isn't canonically backed by any interiority (which seems to be absent in boruto-era team 7 at large) and moreover it requires miscommunication between sasuke and sakura (or even naruto) so great as to be unbelievable. i've accepted that post-pt2 sasuke is an unfortunate victim of kishomoto's nationalist views. his weird takes on how a man like sasuke would behave in a loving relationship and likely desire for a continued revenue stream don't help either. yes i will weep forever...
TLDR: i think the Forehead Poke fits in chapter 699 precisely because it diverges from itachi's. i resent its recurrence suggesting distance from loved ones is an inevitable condition of sasuke's life to which he's stoically acquiescent.
#to expand on sasuke & romance... i've seen people say kishimoto hates ss specifically.because of how he writes minato/kushina for example#well minato is an entirely different guy! and kishimoto is self-professedly weak on the romance front#he has a lot of strengths as a writer but the reversion to tropes and stock archetypes in writing romance is veryyy glaring#sasuke is therefore chronically aloof but also in a mature relationship and it's difficult to believably accomplish both#and of course we have seen sasuke not aloof! we know he's capable! but the romance trope mind virus works in alarming ways#it's also just perceived as way less cool for sasuke to be emotionally expressive towards a woman than a brother(-coded) character#and there's no in-text comparison either. shikamaru is the closest in comportment but he is paired w temari who serves as a tsundere#other than that... i guess there's kakashi (romance aside) but even he deliberately presents as affable#ss in gaiden to me reads less like malicious portrayal & more like. a juvenile take on what sasuke/sakura would be like as grownups#kishi's particularly bad w adult romance because it requires an intimacy i don't think he's entirely comfortable portraying#even in pt 2 ss manages a couple of really authentic touching moments but then as adults i'm like whoooo... are these people....#and above all the entire cast is emotionally and dimensionally neutered in boruto because it sucks. the premise sucks. i don't care for it.#itachi & sasuke#sasusaku#uchiha sasuke#naruto meta#ANYWAYYY thank you for the ask!! it was nice to yap about sasuke & friends again omg i miss them#also sorry this took a week to answer i haven't had much time and wanted to be thorough

Sarada is fucking ugly.
Okay, maybe not Sarada herself, but her clothes certainly are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sarada’s clothing style looks ridiculously out of place and touch with Naruto/Boruto reality.
It is not just that Sarada is dressed like a hooker and her clothes are extremely unpractical and unsuitable for battlefield: she also is like a white crow compared to all male characters, the clothing style is just not the same.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Somebody put Sarada after time skip right next to her male teammates and Sarada looks like a low class teen only fans prostitute compared to them.
Ew,just ew.

the craziest part of the butchering of Sasuke's character in boruto is that to make his sudden love for Sakura make sense after telling her to her face that he doesn't give a fuck abt her nor should she care about him in shippuden, the narrative in boruto tries to pretend that Sasuke just shows his love in subtle ways or is completely dumbfounded by conceptions of love and intimacy. I could go through the manga and create a compilation of screenshots paired w an essay abt how this makes no sense and that the main Uchihas we see go crazy over their bonds, but to me the aspect that really shows how insane it is that Sasuke would be so subtle, fickle, and absent in love is the fact that he's literally a Leo.

It's really hard for me to have any positive feelings about Naruto & Sasuke's marriages when it effectively destroys everything Sasuke wanted. Like it just, crushes him. No more justice for the Uchiha, no more questioning of Konoha, no peace, nothing. He's someone who genuinely loves deeply and he's got no real home.
Naruto's just become complicit. He's not himself, he has seen the meaning of his goals and it goes against all the promises he made in the past, but he isn't going to do anything about it. They're also somehow both married to characters who especially highlight conformity.
Like yeah Sasuke & Naruto are nothing like themselves in Boruto but you simply can't write a Boruto without destroying those two first.

what is this obsession that nh/hnt stans have with making her some kind of "boss" who tramples Naruto whenever she wants?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I understand, the filler in the anime changed everything from Kishimoto's manga to make hnt look good, not as a submissive woman who accepts anything from her husband, but as a boss who can trample him or scold her children without shyness making her look more like a sakura
but that is not kishimoto's canon, this is the canon
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a "boss" should not cry because her children feel abandoned by their father, on the contrary she should go and kick the man's ass and make him understand how much his children suffer without him
(a boss who scolds her children? better said, her own children are the ones who scold her)
but that's not hnt, she's happy to have married Naruto and that's it, she doesn't have the guts to face Naruto either, because she is a submissive woman who will not do anything without his decision
when boruto is angry at his father she does nothing, when naruto is disrespectful to boruto making him feel embarrassed among so many people, she does nothing either, but she has no problem sending her son to take care of his father's ass because she couldn't and almost died trying
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this "boss" has a serious thing about abandoning her children if it were to go after a man, it's not something a "boss" does but ok
the first time she was lucky and was saved by skr, but the second time not only does her husband see her as useless for a mission knowing that she has a byagukan, but he also doesn't think about his daughter, Ironically naruto has to remind him that he has her so that he doesn't abandon her and leave her adrift
'tired sigh' seriously I repeat it again, she is not a boss who solves her children's frustrations for not seeing their father, she just cries because she can't do anything and her son gets angry with her, this "boss" has no problem abandoning her daughter not just once but twice to go after a man like she has pursued him throughout her childhood, she also has no problem sending her son into a fight where he will probably get hurt and killed as long as her man is okay
but if she has enough trouble to hurt a child that is not hers, it is only naruto's, this is a debate and I can understand that she did not want her son to be killed but girl, you haven't done anything for him, you have tendencies to abandon your daughter for a man, why do you want to become a responsible mother now?
Tumblr media
when naruto simply decided to take care of kawaki without consulting her, she accepted it and that was it, kawaki was already a danger and the village knew it, she herself saw how he sought to fight and hurt his son at all costs, she also sees how he almost destroyed his house and literally acted suspicious almost all the time she didn't do anything either, in fact, she wanted to do something but again naruto raised his hand like a dog to its owner and she simply chose to stay still
the only one who rules the house is naruto, this family accepts anything that comes from him if that makes him stay longer, I hate that headcanon where Naruto is trampled by her because It doesn't exist, and not only hnt stan has that obsession, skr stan also has it quite a bit, just because naruto lets himself be beaten by her doesn't mean he's a lapdog for that girl
naruto can get carried away by skr until she crosses a line and then we have scenes where she cries because she can't be the same as naruto or she and her ego are simply rejected by him, yeah... Great bosses

So funny that Gaiden is supposed to be about sasusaku but it mostly shows narusasu XD
Gaiden is only about SS to show how disfunctional this family is. The rest gives us strong grounds for Sasunaru. How can it be that Sasuke did not want anything to do with his family for 12 long years but when Naruto is involved he starts to change his behaviour towards his daughter. Naruto was again the link that saved this family. If it was not for him SS situation would end very badly. Sasuke would not go after Sarada when she cried, Sarada would leave the village and Sakura would not do anything about it. I bet she would be kidnapped and Sasuke would not go after her and this is not my speculation but it actually happened in the manga. He did not even flinch when Shin took Sakura. He was talking about time space ninjutsu. It was Naruto who was trying to find her all the time because supposedly Sasuke did not have enough chakra to sense her like wtf? Even Naruto was like 'I am not buying it'. Sasuke could have sensed Naruto in the other dimension in the Boruto movie but he could not Sakura who was kidnapped somewhere in the cave on the Earth. And after arriving to the cave Sasuke said that he leaves sensing to Naruto lol.
Tumblr media
Coming back to Sasunaru scenes. The first one is when Boruto gives Sarada a luchbox prepared by Hinata for Naruto. Sarada delivers it but Naruto has this kind of dismissive expression but then he thinks about Sasuke and the time when he shared his bento with him. He did not think of Hinata, his wife, and he knew that she made it for him.
Tumblr media
In the next scenes Kishi drew Sasuke sitting with a nostalgic face and the focus on the headband that Naruto gave him. This headband is a symbol of love for Naruto, hope and the most precious thing that Sasuke carries. More about it here. Sasuke did not carry anything associated with Sakura or Sarada. Not even a single photo of his daughter.
Tumblr media
We got many scenes where Sasuke and Naruto are teasing each other and acting like an old marriage couple. Naruto even complemented Sasuke to Sarada.
Tumblr media
Not to mention Sasuke was so horrified when Naruto got stabbed. He has shown all of his emotions even though he knew that Naruto has Kurama. He will heal right away but Sasuke loves Naruto and no matter how strong Naruto is when something bad happens he will be worried. Again you can read more about it here.
Tumblr media
Lastly, there are two scenes that clearly refer to their feelings for each other. When Sarada wanted to leave the village because she learned that she is not Sakura's daughter, Naruto stops her and says very beautiful words 'bonds are not merely made up of blood, there's something even stronger than this... it is love, that's all you need'. Naruto goes into his heart and sees two people there whom are Iruka and Sasuke. He did not see Hinata. She is not related to him by blood so he should have thought about her but he did not. The second scene is when Naruto wants to go with Sasuke on his Kaguya mission but Sasuke gives a petty answer 'after all that's the "cooperation" that you've desired, is it not?' The cooperation is in quotation marks so it does not mean working together as the Hokage and the Shadow Hokage but it refers to their feelings for each other and something that might have been but it cannot be anymore because of their circumstances.

thoughts on naruhina + boruto and their...family
Will preface this by saying that this is a combination of observation and analysis and if you don't agree with me, take this with a grain of salt and scroll away.
(If you're a naruhina/nh shipper, do yourself a favor and scroll away because this isn't your cup of tea.)
sasusaku + sarada version.
Personally, it's almost emotionally triggering for me to watch the NH family because it reminded me of what my family dynamic used to be and witnessing it unfold in the sequel from a viewer's perspective made me realize how dysfunctional it is and what could've been done better.
Let's start at the issue at hand: Naruto not coming home, being too busy as Hokage to the point that he misses important family events like birthdays.
Boruto's reaction to the issue is realistic, especially to a kid that doesn't understand. I'm not saying that Naruto doesn't have a contribution to that mess at all (it's worse when you realize that he would rather be in his office worrying about the number of headbands than be with his family but that is a separate discussion that I will dive on in the near future, among other things). Basically, he wanted his father to be, well, present, so he does everything to get his attention. And no, those pranks aren't pointless. Being a Hokage means attending public functions and being involved with the community and what's the best freaking way to get your dad's attention by embarrassing him while on the job (which happens to be the same thing that stands between him being a good father)? Now, this wouldn't escalate into massive proportions like cheating-on-the-Chunin-exams level if Hinata was able to placate and explain things to her son.
In terms of explaining, there are several things to consider:
realizing the issue
being logical about the reasons
seeing eye to eye with your kid, emphasizing on how your kid perceived this issue emotionally and determining what they want
not making excuses and stating the reasons in the perspective that your kid can understand
openly communicating the issue to the ones in concern and expressing your stance on this, hearing them out, and reaching a consensus (or a conclusion)
But the thing is, Hinata herself doesn't see the problem, thus eliminating the chance to see her kid eye-to-eye on this particular issue--given that they aren't on the same page from the start. It's baffling as well as concerning to see that she doesn't have any qualms with her husband making a secondary residence in the Hokage Office, sleeping on the couch and not on their shared bed, overworking himself to the point that even his freaking advisor tells him to go the fuck home, would rather eat cup ramen than enjoy a home cooked meal, and the tipping point: is okay with her husband sending a clone to celebrate their daughter's birthday.
And her telling Boruto that his father is the Hokage and it's a busy position pretty much doesn't cover how fucked up the issue is. Boruto could easily counter that with well Shikadai's dad is the Hokage advisor but he can go home so what's stopping mine from doing the same? In short, she keeps on excusing the behavior which in turn gives off that Naruto prioritizes the job the most and their family clearly comes second and oh my, does that sound so appealing on a child's ears? Definitely not.
The point is, a kid would go through drastic measures to find the assurance and approval that they need especially if it wasn't provided to them. The pranks stopped when Sasuke entered the picture. He was able to talk to Boruto about his dad. Give opinions about Naruto as the person, not just someone in a high position. That's exactly what Boruto needed to hear.
Now you may wonder why Sasuke was able to do this and not Hinata? That's because Sasuke pretty much understands Naruto and he is able to provide more input about Naruto outside of his achievements and position. Not to mention that Sasuke pretty much took Boruto under his wing to train him if he wanted to defeat his dad. And one thing about Sasuke is he isn't pretty much holding back when he calls out Boruto, something I've noticed that Hinata wasn't able to do. Watching the scene of Sasuke scolding Boruto in front of his own mother is pretty funny because why is your husband's best friend giving off mother more than you?

I’m sorry but this is so bad. Boruto makes me sad for both Sakura and Sasuke tbh. It makes Sakura look super desperate and Sasuke just doesn’t act like he loves her. They don’t have enough organic chemistry. It’s so mood dampening and reads like a bad fanfic.
