Hit The Road

Getting over this knee injury has been a slow and painful process for me.  I hate not being able to run, especially when I am training for a race. Since I am currently training for Boston, it is extremely annoying for myself.  Every day I wake up wanted to run, telling myself it is ok to run and that the knee feels so much better! Luckily, I have the most amazing friends, family and most importantly, girlfriend, who ensure I do not go too crazy and take it easy.  Without them, I would certainly run my myself into the ground (figuratively and literally).

 Today though, I was finally able to get out and make it a few miles without any pain.  I still took the meds and stretched per my Doc’s guidance, but I made the run.  Tomorrow, I will try again and increase my miles from 3 to 5.  I’ll take it easy and ensure I follow all precautions necessary to ensure that I am capable get at least one 20 miler in for training prior to kicking it into taper time.  

 As for my fundraising efforts, I am 58% the way to my goal of $5,000.  With $2,000 to go and only 32 days until the marathon I am getting nervous I will not make the goal.  Going to start doing some more fundraising efforts and email some local businesses to reach out from my local network.  Anyone reading this, I could use your help in pushing out my link (see below) and getting the word out on the fundraiser.  All money put in goes towards a great cause in assisting our injured, critically ill, and wounded service members.
