A Mental Construct for Wayfinding
I was biking and unsatisfied with my directional senses. I resolved to build a better system for myself. By the end of my ride, after many tangents, I managed to get one.
Instead of pointing directions for things, you make a connected graph of ways and places. You shrink down the ways and give them values (weights) for how long they take to get from place to place. Turns out this is very generally useful, and my direction (algorithm) manager snapped it up and was very pleased with it.
The fun part starts when you connect things in different maps to each other, and applying constructs to constructs to build things. As ever, abstractions must end in concretion to be useful.
