Percy actually hates Ariel BIG TIME.It's not a constant thing they do but it makes them grit their teeth that they grew up watching The Little Mermaid like almost everybody who grew up in America does and turned out to have almost the same origin as her but Ariel got to be a legit princess her whole life and Percy had to deal with bullies and almost no friends and Triton,for the shit dad he is,wasn't verbally abusive nonstop much less physically just as often like Smelly Gabe or abandoned Ariel at birth until she was 12 and neglectful afterwards and it takes a lot in them to not snap at people who think they love her for being another Atlantis royal as if Percy is even considered one and the having a crush on her assumption is especially seeth worthy and they're like 'Yeah,sure,i wish my dad cared enough about me to gatekeep my special interests from me and try to stop me from dating someone i love because he wants me to love him more too.I've always wanted to be a mermaid princess too so bad,you don't even KNOW!'.By the time they're 19 they've been through so much trauma and kept hearing it so much they printed out a picture of her to tape it to their bedroom door and throw darts at it.Percy's ACTUAL favorite Disney Princess because they see so much of themself in her though?Cinderella of course and their Disney Princess crush is none other than Tiana

when I was little, my absolute favorite doll was Princess of Ireland Barbie (I called her "Joan Kathleen-" don't judge; it was like 2002 and this actually wasn't consciously after JKR. is Joan an Irish name? I have no idea)

I was. ENCHANTED. the contrast of her lip color with her skin (the only white Barbies I'd ever seen had that "artificially tanned blonde" look), her deep red hair, her intelligent closed-mouth smile. she was everything

I used to play that she was made of ivory, with eyes of emerald and lips of ruby. was that wildly impractical for a doll? yes, but I had a picture book where a little princess owned a rocking-horse of ebony with "sapphire eyes and twinkling golden tassels" so I was obsessed with the idea of Impractical Fairytale Luxury Toys. I imagined her a dress that felt less stiff, with embroidered instead of printed designs (but her velvet cape scored BIG points).

there's no real ending to this; she's still at my parents' house in a place of pride. I was just wildly obsessed with this doll- and look at her. she's amazing. I was objectively correct

I haven't been able to get Spruce and his Muppet wife Brandi out of my head ever since that Vacay Island clip came out 💕

Per usual, I have headcanons:

Spruce's name change to "Bruce" was inspired by his wife's name

All 13 of their kids have names that start with "Br" (e.g. Bryce, Braxton, Brandon, Brianna, Brittney, Brady, Brody, Brooke, Bryan, Bruno, Brenda, Brill, Brucie Jr.)

A majority of the kids are boys, given that boys run in Spruce's side of the family (plus there is a sign in one of the concept arts for the cantina they run that was called "Bruce and Sons'")

The kiddos are convinced right away that Branch is related to them since his name starts with "Br"

At the start of their relationship, Brandi played hard-to-get at first, not so easily charmed by Spruce right away, which aided in Spruce falling in love with her for being different than the previous girls he's flirted with

Brandi is better at keeping the kids in line due to her being bigger than them, unlike Spruce

Spruce loves to spoil his kiddos with desserts from their cantina and with all sorts of fun activities on Vacay Island, like surfing💜

I just LOVE Brandy she's so chill and sweet and light-hearted, she's a wife, a mother and a business woman. She's such a random character but she made me love her so much. I'm so glad she's the part of the family

I don't think Percy Jackson would fw Ariel at all actually,he'd think she's fine if a bit corny but the Poseidon reveal would make him hate her out of association LMFAO And the Stolls would make jokes about him being her or Prince Eric so he'd kinda have no choice but to ditch the movie as a whole.Percy's actual favorite Disney Princess is Cinderella because he kins her(grew up with an abusive stepparent + Kept herself kind despite all that and the combined loneliness of barely any real friends growing up + Blue)and his favorite version of her is specifically Brandy because he's afrolatino.Maybe he had a crush on her too,who knows(I know,he SO did and Sally made him a replica of her dress for one of his birthday's and he cried like a baby shark)
