rainy days!!! my favourite kinds of days <33 well if i'm feeling adventurous i love going out into the city bc its sooo beautiful in the rain + poking around my favourite bookstores + maybe visiting a cafe for a tea!! otherwise sitting by my window + reading + holding a warm beverage is always lovely xx

i DID im sorry i just cant help it..its a disease its a sickness but i must finish the books i start...as for what i disliked about it. i will not get into it because i dont know where to start but i thought it was just. awful. so awful. often when i dont like books its more that they werent for me than that i think theyre genuinely bad? but i did i thought this one was truly a bad book and i am baffled by its popularity...it had some of the most insufferable and unbelievable characters i have ever read i was actively rooting for their failures and miseries. anyway! next up i have girl woman other by bernardine evaristo, absolutely loved the other book of hers i read this year so hopefully i will get more out of this one!!

Adopted!Mouse is... exactly what it says on the tin, I guess. I've gotten a couple asks about it today, so I'll try to cover a little bit of a different aspect of it in each response. This one will lean toward the Gerwitzes' side of things (I know, we hate them, I'm sorry)

Do I know any of the details for this specific part of it yet? No. Will that stop me? Also no.

(warning for a mention of infertility in the next paragraph)

For reasons that I have not sorted out yet, Thelma can't have kids of her own. She didn't know this until after she was married, because she had no reason to suspect otherwise before she was trying to give Gregory an heir. And it's very much an image issue, from both of their perspectives - do they particularly want children to take care of and dote on? No. But their corner of society has told them that a family legacy is important. If there's no one to carry on the family name and money, they've failed. And failure isn't acceptable.

So they decide to (secretly) adopt. They can lie about the pregnancy as much as they need to, and the adoption can be completely closed so that none of it is available for public record. They'll just adopt a baby boy to carry on the family name, even give him the family name, raise Gregory Gerwitz IV, and balance will be restored. Their reputations are still intact, and they only really need one heir. Even the kid doesn't know he's adopted, because it's too much of a risk to tell him - what if he says something? Kids aren't exactly known for watching what they say.

And then he grows up, and he looks enough like them that no one suspects anything, because they have no reason to look too closely. Even when they disown him and cut him off and he's going by Mouse, no one looks close enough to see the truth. Not even him. Because why would he look so closely at the family that didn't even want him?

2. Do you read/reread your own fics? I reread them right before I post them, but otherwise no.

5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write? I had a Mandalorian series and a La Casa de Papel series, both with OCs, but they will never see the light of day.

10. Is there a fic that got a different response than you were expecting? Flames of Deceit.

14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick? Beholden, but they would likely ruin Magnussen's character, so I'm not sure that I want any adaptations lmao.

17. What’s something you’ve learned about while doing research for a fic? For Beholden, I've learned a lot about the War on Drugs, drug policies, organized crime, and the illicit drug market + Mexico's history, geography, culture, and political system. For Flames of Deceit, I've learned about Essosi and Westerosi history, geopolitics, dynasties, customs and traditions, etc.

18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic? "Blackwing had roared so intensely that the Conqueror’s crown had been hurled from the Pretender’s head." (from Flames of Deceit)

25. Have you ever upset yourself with your own writing? Yes, I've cried a few times while writing.

My problem with swift is that people really really want to convince you that her music is good, and that you should like it. Like telling me that she won such and such award is not going to make me like her music. Neither is you reading her "most touching" lines to me. Like, I'm not a native english speaker and I don't speak it in my day to day life at all, however I can tell that her lyrics are rather clunky a lot off the time. I don't want to know how her music sounds when english is actually your first language.

Also I just don't like how her music sounds?? It's not that her music is badly produced (usually lol) or like uniquely bad - it's just a kind of pop music I don't care for and if nobody tried to convince me to like it I would happily ignore it just like the rest of music that I don't care for. Alas, when someone tries to get me to like swifts music ("It's so imaginative!!" "There is so much emotion!!" et cetera) I turn into the most pretentious music snob I can be 🤷🏻‍♀️. What's your strategy??

and like. yeah. i am fortunate that i havent really been in the position of people trying to get me into tswift where i would have had to politely resisted the pitch but like. thats exactly it. that is what i cant bear like if you like her music if you enjoy it if you think its good if you relate to it (and i think thats the real strength in taylor swift i think thats what makes her so successful, the relatability of her music rather than the quality of it or of her lyricism) that is FINE!! but then trying to push this narrative that shes objectively a super talented genius ("you might not like her but you can't deny she's a talented lyricist..." yes i can, i don't think she is) because look how many streams she has! look how many grammys! look how great this lyric that ive pulled up is! you can't argue with that! is such nonsense. like i KNOW these people dont genuinely think that there is a direct correlation between success and talent in the music industry, thus implying that if youre the most successful youre the most talented, and if youre not successful well you must not be talented. i KNOW they dont believe that nobody is that stupid. yummy by justin bieber was nominated for a grammy. is this the company you keep lol those awards have never been about talent or quality of music.

and beside all that the citing of lyrics is funny because the lyrics that i see cited are not, in my personal opinion, good. like her music just personally does nothing for me, her lyrics do nothing for me, i dont see the talent or quality in them that somebody else might and thats fine but like. i completely agree its not that she's especially bad it's that she's especially and aggressively made out to be especially objectively good and if you disagree youre wrong and shes the lyricist of a generation and shes the last great american songwriter and shes second only to shakespeare and et cetera. no proof i am presented with will get me to believe she is objectively a genius and that is fine...you do not need to convince other people youre allowed to just. like her...i prommy...
