what's the issue with that opioid od info video? is it inaccurate?

Its been a year or 2 since ive dealt w an od so im alil rusty but this just kinda sux on multiple levels the first thing is dont call 911 or if, if you do say a person is having trouble breathing dont mention drugs and tell every1 around u your calling 911 and that cops might/will be here soon(dependent on how dispatch works and how many of ur local emts are cops). Also in most cases of od that iv interacted w/ heard of if u narcan sum1 they r v likely 2 become sumwut cognisent then u can ask if they wanna call sum1 including if thy wanna call an ambulance if u can nd thy consent try n monitor them bc they can go back under dependn on dose nd u might need to do it again.

Sternum rubs suck end of. If your really unsure i gues i get using it but most ppl i knw do the nailbed thing after u talk loud/yell and after you nudge/shake shoulder where u place the middle of a pen acrpss someons nailbed nd squeeze it and the finger hard together.

The pupil thing feels misleading to me mostly bc pupils dont dialate when exposed to light. Nd idk usu its obvi if thr just shot up but yah u can check if thr pupils are pin point but im p sure most unconcus eyes will turn to pinpoionts if u shin a light n them

I mean like just do abcs(airway breathin circul8n) like open thr mouth check 4 obstruction, listen or feel for ther breathing (placin hand close to nose/mouth) looking for chest rise can b deceptiv bc of woody chest which is a thng tht sumtims happens with fent whr the diaphram and ribs muscles get super rigid. look at thr skin is it pale/blue/grey.

if there not breathn enuf nd it seams to be bc of drugs narcan them and start rescue breaths. Stay with them monitor pulse dont stop doing rescue breaths til thr breathn on thr own or thr dead.

Like the primary thing that pisses me off about this is they dont say rescue breaths and they do say call 911.

Breaking a Dark Pact - Renouncing an unsavory deal

Hullo, Gentle Readers. This week’s Question from a Denizen comes from chalk-dust-s, who asks, “Some months ago I had a player who at the end of her rope sold her soul to a dark entity. It was my last effort at saving her pc in a fight that should have killed her.  Any idea how you might go about allowing her to gain redemption from this pact? I see no way out lol”

LOL indeed, cds. Dark pacts are something common in D&D and other fantasy games. Warlocks bind themselves to dark patrons for power, but sometimes they find themselves regretting the deal down the road. Other PCs may bind a deal with a devil, or sell their souls to otherworldly powers in order to escape certain doom. In a situation like this, I feel there should always be a grain of hope.

Well, first, the question is, does the player want their PC to escape the pact? Maybe they’re actually enjoying the whole thing. Players and DMs often forget that there can be a divide between what a PC wants and what their player wants. For example, my Eberron PC is an ex-soldier who never wants to see the Mournlands again. For my part, however, when the adventure started taking us into the Mournlands, I was super excited to role-play that return. Just because my PC didn’t want it didn’t mean that *I* didn’t want it. If the PC wants this dark pact to be a part of their story, then you can dangle escapes that come to nothing as long as you like. Maybe the campaign ends without that ever being resolved, and everyone’s fine with that.

Let’s assume, however, that the player DOES want a chance to escape their dark fate. First, I wouldn’t dangle this hope at them. Make them do the work to investigate and see if there’s a way to escape it. They should demonstrate a clear desire to get out of this situation.

This being the case, I like to look at what we call the clean win, the dirty win, and the loss. The loss is easy. If the PC doesn’t succeed in escaping the pact, their soul goes to hell or becomes part of the Far Realm, or serves the Lord of Bats for eternity, or whatever.

The clean win is just that - they find a way to sever ties to this dark entity clean and simple. Maybe they need to seek out a pure spring that’s guarded by angels and bathe in it to purify themselves. The angels aren’t going to just let someone so obviously corrupted defile their spring, so they’ll fight to defend it. Or maybe they have to find a way to help destroy the entity that holds their soul in bondage, or sneak into Hell and sever a cord with a pair of scissors made from the reforged dagger of an immortal assassin, or have a red dragon’s breathn burn the contract away, or some other convoluted situation. But, ultimately, although it’s risky, they can win out and escape their fate.

The dirty win is more achievable, but it carries a price. Maybe the spring mentioned above is a holy site for pilgrims of a good god. Once the PC bathes in it, it will be destroyed forever. Or maybe they can only escape if an innocent takes their place. Or maybe they have to do a favor for this dark entity that has really awful repercussions (such as murdering a good priest, corrupting a temple, making a blood sacrifice that unleashes something terrible into the world, or the like.) A dirty win should be something that technically frees the PCs soul, but at the cost of a lot of guilt.

Another option is what I would refer to as the righteous win. This would be an option where the PC sacrifices their life in a good and amazing way. For example, they begin the process of attacking the town, but then have a change of heart and die defending it instead. Or they learn about the intended sacrifice of a good person to this dark entity and die rescuing them. Perhaps in a situation like this, a hidden clause in the contract breaks it with the PCs’s death, and so, although they are dead (and preferably not able to be raised, as this would reinstate the contract), they are redeemed. Personally I think that would bring a very satisfying conclusion to the character’s story arc.

Persephone Duncan x Jesse Cromeans

Jesse's eye cracked open as he suddenly felt Persephone sit up quickly beside him. He sat up hurridly as he saw her taking deep breathn he could recognize the look of pure panic on her face from a mile away. He placed one of his hands on her back rubbing soothing circles to help her calm down.

"M'fine Jesse just a bad dream". Persephone tried to reassure him once she got her breathing back in order. 'What kind of dream'? Jesse asked still concerned. Persephone giving him a soft smile. "Just one of those weird pregnancy dreams nothing serious". She told him.

Jesse was still slightly worried but he didn't push anymore. Instead he just scooted closer to her and wrapped his arms around her. Persephone let out a pleased sigh as she rested her head on Jesse's chest. "You know you are are a very nice pillow". Persephone joked making Jesse's shoulders shake in silent laughter. 'Well you're welcome to sleep on me anytime you please'. Jesse signed amused.

"Will do handsome". Persephone yawned nuzzling more into him. Jesse lied them back down keeping Persephone comfortably on his chest. Once they were he pulled their blanket back over them. He didn't go back to sleep immediately wanting to savor the feeling of Persephone's body against his.

It was a sensation he felt often enough but never one he'd tire of. Jesse was absolutely certain of that.
