Terrarium Time
#needs a lot more hides and climbing vines which I'll add tomorrow but overall pretty pleased with this. not bad for a temp setup#(it's for a baby bredl's python. I'm building the adult enclosure this summer which will be like 3x the size of this setup)

Last years 2D madness, featuring the Stonewashed Bredli Python morph! Also known as the Centralian Carpet Python, Bredli are more isolated in comparison to the rest of the Morelia species. They're named after Josef "Joe" Bredl, an Australian crocodile conservationist 🐊 The more you know!
2D アートに戻る、 今回はブレドリパイソンです! ブレッドリはセントラリアンカーペットパイソンと呼ばれています。モレリア・ブレドリはより孤立している。 Josef "Joe" Bredl にちなんで名付けられました!

My partner's new pet! He's a Bredls' Python, often confused for a carpet python! His name is Mr Snake, despite my arguing
I love the name Mr Snake

I have one and it’s been the best snake I’ve ever owned. Takes down food like a garbage disposal, calm demeanor, and can handle temperature/humidity fluctuations without a problem.
Highly recommended!

Todays Snake Is:
The Centralian Carpet Python or Bredl’s Python (Morelia bredli) is a constrictor endemic to Northern Territory, Australia. At one time considered a regional variant or subspecies of the more common Carpet Python (Morelia spilota), this animal was first recognized as its own species in 1981. It has a relatively small range, found only in the heart of the country in rocky outcrops and scrub bush.

A nice boy after a good shed.
He honestly looks pretty drab and brown most of the time, but you get him under sunlight and he starts to glow.

Hey! Your carpet python is goooorgeous, what's that breed like, temperament-wise? Thanks :)
Thanks! They can be pretty nippy, especially when young. They also have fantastic teeth; Marms drew blood when she struck at less than 18 inches long so it’s not like a corn snake. Many of them mellow out with age but some of them are real jerks. Marmalade strikes at the windows of her tank when you walk by sometimes; she is not a friendly snake. There are things you can do (frequent handling to desensitize them) to improve their temper but it really varies between snakes. I know plenty of owners who are able to get their carpets out to explore and hold without problems especially once they are 2+ years old. Luckily I’m happy with looking at her and bringing out my corn for something to hold/interact with, and I am able to safely get her out of her tank if I need to. She’s just not (at this point) a snake I take out for fun. Different species in the Morelia family are calmer; I’ve heard bredls are big puppy dogs.

If you had the resources & knowledge to care for any herp/reptile in the world, which one(s) would you most want to keep?
Oh shit dude! Not even including amphibians in this; I’d love a white-lipped python, Bredl’s python, milk snake, blue-tongue skink, Durango mountain king snake, frilled lizard, black tree monitor, orange or blue iguana, alligator(lmao I can dream), California king snake(the type w/the vertical stripes, not horizontal. Both are cute tho lol), and a tegu(any kind, they’re all good).
(I'd kill for anything with two heads tbh)
And probably many more, but those are the ones off the top of my head lol.

i am so IN LOVE these babies are so adorable and precious
Meet Namira and Hircine 😁
Namira is a hypo 66% het stripe female. Hircine is a 66% het stripe male from a different clutch. He is also from hypo blood and might end up a little lighter in color than typical wild type bredli, but he is not a hypo himself. I do think there's a good chance they will both prove out for genetic stripe, though, considering the significant striping they both display. Time will tell. And either way, they are both gorgeous animals and I'm so thrilled to have them!
These were quick photos immediately after unboxing. I will take better ones when I get home before leaving them to settle in 😊
