honestly, as a “paul girl” GMRTBS is so interesting as a look into 80s paul. PoP and ToW both did well, which makes me wonder why he did the movie? maybe a “paul doing projects when hes struggling” ie: the lawsuits from the others and john’s murder. its an insight into how paul sees himself, like henry ( or whoever) dying on the steps and then the fade into someone telling paul he’s finished? its by no means a good movie but the look into paul’s psyche is chefs kiss (also love a hawaiian shirt)

(I think the lawsuits came after but I'm not 100% sure tbh?)

I still haven't seen the movie itself though people have given me enough background to figure out what the general vibe is lmao.

Just giving you my gut answer, with regards to the "why", I think probably he was just having a lot of very visual ideas which would work better in film form and then the idea seemed cool and different and maybe he needed to get away from just recording and it all snowballed for various reasons (maybe also inspired by Ringo's weirdo TV movie?). Also, from what I gather, the John parallelisms are very much There and maybe he wanted to express them (and other stuff too perhaps) but for whatever reason thought music was.... too real? Too direct? Lol, truly a mystery!

Night of the Living Dead 3D (2006)

My rating: 4/10

This is about as much of a remake of the original Night as any given zombie movie, so it doesn't make that much sense to compare the two, but of course this one's worse: the script is weaker, the acting talent is all over the place (though Sid Haig is quite good), and the whole thing just looks and feels even cheaper than the original student film. Also, nothing will draw attention to the overwhelming whiteness of your lead actors like naming your movie after one that famously had a black lead, so that was stupid. 3D is nicely gimmicky, though.

Paul: "John wanted us to buy the film rights to Lord Of The Rings. It was very much his idea. We talked about it for quite a while, but then I started to smell a bit of a carve-up, because immediately John wanted to be Bilbo... wanted the lead. The only things I would be quite interested in is not playing myself. I really don't like the idea of playing myself. I did that in Give My Regards To Broadstreet, and I realized afterwards that it wasn't much fun.... I like the idea of character roles. Something a million miles from myself." @mydaroga That's the Paul quote I was thinking of. But it's just from the internet, I don't have the book to check. Carr is then the one to come up with the hypothetical Paul Frodo, Ringo Sam, George Gandalf and John Gollum casting. I don't know why. John saying he might have played Frodo, I remember from an audio. I haven't a clue how to look for it.
