Lestrade has been waiting for Holmes for some time and is increasingly bored.

Holmes arrives, unnoticed.

Holmes and Watson retreat into the hall and approach the door again, coughing and shuffling their feet loudly, giving Lestrade time to stand and greet them with dignity.

"Lestraaaaade!"

(Tee hee.)

And then the episodes ends with Lestrade, with deep sincerity, telling Holmes, "We're not jealous of you at Scotland Yard. No, sir. We're proud of you."

The real villain of bbc sherlock is lestrade’s wife because who would cheat on GREG.

I love Lestrade because he’s one of the few examples I can think of of a well written narrative punching bag.

He isn’t needlessly abused for absolutely no reason, he’s kind of an asshole. And he stubbornly refuses to learn his lesson.

But the way that he’s ‘punished’ isn’t overdone or to a ridiculous extreme, he’s just an asshole who gets his ass handed to him sometimes.

But we also learn over time that there’s more to his character, and he has genuine moments of being cool and bonding with Holmes and Watson.
