Hi ! I'm making a video on Professor Layton with very sad Music related to the Bronev drama. can i use your fanart? there will be editing it will be cool I will credit you anyway : )
Hi, that’s nice of you to ask permission, but I don’t actually make fanart. I’d love to, but I can’t :’) Good luck with your project anyway! I’m sure there are lots of artists who would love to help!
So I was thinking about where I’d want to slot Emmy into the Layton bros au because I wasn’t entirely keen on just having her being a spy for Targent hanging around both Des and Hershel because:
A) Des is an extreme loner when it comes to cases he wouldn’t enjoy the constant company nor would he hire someone off the street regardless of how much they tried to assert themselves
B) Hershel isn’t an archeologist so it’s not like they’d be getting any cool Azran hot tips right off the press
And while I don’t put it past Bronev to send a spy out purely for personal reasons, overall Emmy’s purpose I felt was better allocated elsewhere to make things more interesting.
Since Descole is no longer the main antagonist through the prequels I pushed Targent to the front to being the main conflict, but still felt as if I wanted a constant face for both Hersh and Des (and Luke) to constantly run into during their adventures. I considered Rachel (because she is alive in this au) and Leon both being that face for Targent, but decided against it when I realized I could have Emmy fill that antagonistic role instead.
It’s a bit of an interesting little trade off because while you get less Emmy content in the prequels due to her villain status, I’d want to give her a redemption arc and have her be with the main gang for AL and then be around for the og trilogy.
Personality wise she's definitely still Emmy, everything she does just has a sinister edge to it. You don't wanna be on the other end of her wrath because you'll be scrambling away with more than just a broken nose.
got fucking whacked upside the head with bronev bros thoughts just now and man i really did plot out a whole 52 frame animatic for them didn't i. hm. <- words of a man who has seven time sensitive assignments due by monday
okay so number 1 is OBVIOUSLY the name swap/goodbye. like come on. second is just the entirety of eternal diva because layton doesnt even know thats his brother but hes like "id know that cringe ass architecture anywhere" and des nearly kills him over it. third is des leaving at the end of azran legacy. fourth is the reuniting scene because "ive been looking forward to this, a chance to meet the famous professor layton." fifth is the end of specters call because girl what was happening throughout all of that.
If you're doing the title ask meme still, how about "You look so lonely next to me"?
This feels like something I’ve vaguely had in mind to write for a while now, whenever I finally get around to finishing the PL prequel trilogy again, a short thing from Hershel’s pov set during Azran Legacy about how he views Desmond during their journey on the Bostonius, before everything goes down near the end of the game. I think it’s highly likely he probably suspected that Desmond might have been Descole from a certain point (I mean..... assuming everyone somehow ignores how their voices sound exactly the same....), but he’s not one hundred percent sure and he hasn’t done anything bad so he can’t exactly confront him about it, so he’s simply content to watch him during their trip while he doesn’t seem to pose any danger and seems to be a genuinely good person; seems to be what Hershel can only believe is his real self, which Hershel wants to observe. Whether or not he’s Descole, at the very least Hershel can sense that there’s more to Desmond than he puts on for them: that, while sometimes he seems genuinely happy about something, other times his cheer is forced, and his smile doesn’t reach his eyes, and sometimes he seems distracted, and sometimes if Hershel pays attention enough out of the corner of his eye, he can catch Desmond staring at him with this intense longing and brokenness, that he is always quick to hide and no one else notices, and that Hershel wants to confront but has absolutely no idea how to do so. Desmond treats him kindly just like he does everyone else, but there is some unspoken heaviness and distance between the two of them specifically - he looks so lonely next to him, as if they are worlds apart, even when Desmond is right there at his side. And Hershel cannot for the life of him figure out why... and is afraid that loneliness must be, somehow, because of him. All he knows for sure is that something is desperately wrong, and he wants so badly to help him, before it might be too late... because he recognizes that look in his eyes, the feeling he gives off, because that was how Hershel knows he felt and looked after Randall, and after Claire, and because of Randall and Claire, he doesn’t want to regret not saying things he wishes he had before it’s too late. Not again. (but of course he doesn’t and the endgame plays out :’) (and sidenote but as I alluded to in my last fic, this whole situation with Desmond is why I think he would be very attuned to Clive’s facade in Unwound Future, and get that same sense of foreboding of “something is very wrong here and I want to do something to stop it but I don’t know how because I don’t know anything for sure and don’t know how to approach it, but I know this person is hurting and I know I’m going to regret it if I don’t do something and then I Didn’t”)
Thanks for asking! I really like this title haha; I might end up using it for something else, if not for this.
I wonder if Targent agents' hairstyles are like that before they joined Targent (like Plover) or it was Bronev's idea, especially for those who don't have cool hairstyles (as well as their codenames). Maybe Emmy keeps her floofy hair because of her uncle's demand.
Also, I believe Des's henchmen's uniform, and MG's to the extent, are made fashionable (and mysterious) to rival Targent's stylish hair. And this is 48208492% Descole's idea (you wouldn't think it's Raymond's right?).
Tldr I wonder if Bronev and Descole have something to do with their respective henchmen to be ~~ stylish ~~ (hairstyle and fashion respectively)
