#marchmeetthemaker Day 2 : Where I was born in a little Hungarian 🇭🇺 town nearby the Austrian Alps 🗻 and close to Vienna ♡ I spent all my summer holidays in the old loam house of my Grandparents 🏡 in the eastern part of the country (loam is a traditional house building material in the old rural Hungary), or sometimes by our huge, sea-like lake called Balaton 🌊💙 (the biggest lake of central Europe!:) At the age of 18, I went to the capital, Budapest, to study zoology and I lived there for 5 years. First it seemed so huge, busy and stressful but finally I got to love it so much & slowly fell in love with its beautiful architecture, old streets, the majestic Danube river, and all those tiny pubs decorated so magically:) After earning my degree I moved to Madrid, Spain - and that was already a bit more than seven years ago.. At first, Madrid seemed even huger and busier (they say it never sleeps and now I know it's true!) and full of culture and history..In one hand, I love living here - love the always bright blue skies ☁️, the warm weather ☀️, that joyful spanish way of life (& there's always fresh veggies and fruits no matter the season:)..but on the other hand, and especially as time pass and I get older and older 🙈, I miss more and more that calm and quiet atmosphere of a smaller place and especially the proximity of nature..🌳 And You?? Where are you from? Are you living far from where you were born? Or have you stayed close to where you'd grown up? My dear little Valentina 💕🐻🌸 I've heard she arrived safe and sound to her new and loving home - on the other side of the ocean! 🌊💙 I always love to imagine the travels of my little ones, from the very post office of my district to the homes of my dear customers. I love to imagine every little detail, even the postman's uniform and the post box in those foreign countries, and it feels like magic to know that a little something I made with my hands and with all my care, traveled so far and found a home in places I've never been:) It's such a long time since I'm planning to make a world map as a present for myself, to show the travels and new homes of my little bears and portraits, a map with little colourful dots for every brother wolf or sister bear living new adventures in far away, beautiful places :) I even bought a big, oval embroidery hoop for the purpose (as of course it will be embroidered:) but you know: time. It seems there's never enough of it - so the map might not be ready for my birthday as I planned, but it will happen. And sure I'll show you when it does:) -together with all the progress! Till that, receive the biggest pink bear hug of the history, and have a lovely Sunday 💗🌸 (Ps. I don't know about you, but I love this dear little pattern SO MUCH that I've just been thinking of making an other bear like Valentina...!! When I was little, one of my favourite things about winter holidays was reading. I loved that I could read freely, all day and every day, the books I wanted and loved the most:) I remember I was around 11 when my Mom, who was (and still is) a literature teacher in an elementary school, one afternoon appeared with a little book in hand; she said her colleagues were sure I would LOVE it so she took it home for me - it was Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone. Recently published in Hungarian and still unknown by most readers, it was a book that become one of the dearest book memories of my childhood. For me, reading always have been like a little door for an other reality, an instrument to see new places, feel new feelings and live many lives with every new book I'd hold. I believe that reading is essential to learn cultivate empathy, it opens the mind and embellishes the soul and just for that, if I could do just one thing to make the world a better place, I would give a book to every child, read them loud and let them learn how to feel others, how to dream and how to imagine.. ♡ Do you remember the first book that touched you in a special way? Hello December! 🎄✨❄ This cute little photo was taken in a pine tree farm at home in Hungary; there are plenty of them everywhere as setting a real tree for Christmas is still a great tradition. I loved it so much as a child, loved discovering the pine tree left outside by the 'angels' for us on the 23rd of December, to then carefully take it inside together and decorate it in the afternoon of the 24th. I loved the smell it left all around the house, of wild and free northern forests, where bears and wolves live.. I didn't realize that thousands or millions of trees are cut every year to then be thrown into the rubbish when Christmas ends..now I know it and I feel so sorry for all those beautiful trees - and can't imagine how anyone can cut them out after growing and caring for them sometimes for more than 10 long years..Traditions might change in the future; I happily realized that pine farms has started to sell little trees in buckets too, a lovely alternative, as they can easily be planted outside once Christmas ended.
