Reposting this one because I want to finish my #selfcareforthesenses series at some pointand it's been a while. This time I'm talking about sight. Now I'm aware that not everyone has the same ability with sight, but if you can use your sight for self care here are some ideas that I have. My first one is Fall leaves. If you're somewhere that the leaves are changing colors I highly recommend looking closely at them, maybe even collecting the ones that you like best, like I do. It can be a very relaxing activity (if you are able to get outdoors; I understand that some of us aren't able to for whatever reason). Pay attention to the differences in color, shape, and size. Maybe take some photos of a leaf bouquet like I did. If Fall leaves aren't your cup of tea try looking for nice pictures with Google or Instagram. My go-tos are sunsets, wildflowers, and cute animals. You can even save a folder of your favorites for when you need that pick-me-up. Other things you could look at are artwork, a pretty jigsaw puzzle as you put it together (I am all about the jigsaw puzzles), a coloring book as you color it, or any nice craft you are making. Late yesterday afternoon Lil and I took a colander, put Bluebell the Spoodle on a lead (good for her training) and went foraging, around our garden! I’ve designed the garden this way, there are Food Hedges to forage in and plants, shrubs and trees dotted about the garden where the conditions suit them best. This is Tasmania lancolata, commonly known as Mountain Pepper or Tasmania Pepperberry. This year the shrub is laden with big black shiny pepperberries, the best season we have had so far. It was lovely to wake up this morning and see the Tasmanian Pepperberry branches in a jug, a wonderful reminder of time yesterday. Would you like to join me? We have all adjusted our lifestyles and schedules during this time. For me, working from home has been an adjustment for sure. Even in the video I posted yesterday on my YouTube channel about my WFH routine, things did not go as planned and I had to take some time to reflect and really figure things out. Working from home has its challenges but I am thankful for my job and the experiences I have had during this time. Okay, enough talk, let’s get to the routine I shared in my latest video: ⠀⠀ * Worked at 8 am-ish * Took a breakfast break at 10 am ** Had a bit of a breakdown because life was just crazy, the news about Ahmaud was rough, and work was kinda hard at this point. Mum, Great news I have a new favourite parent! . OK, just to keep you up to date. I have, since early January been my darlings 3rd favourite parent. After starting the Year of Less but Better, where I'm embracing minimalism and having a No Spend Year. This has meant a clamp down on wasteful spending and an overall reduction in sweeties, hot chocolates and lollipops in our house . This has not been well received by the cherubs. . Needless to say, when there are other sources of such goodies to be tapped, your truly becomes less important as a target of affection. . For the last 4 weeks, my dear husband has been firmly in 1st place due to his penchant for hot chocolate. My mum has been a close 2nd due to the ample sweet press in her kitchen. Whereas I have been holding onto 3rd position purely out of luck as there had been no one to usurp me. . That is, until now. . I had a meeting and my good friend collected my girl from school. When I picked her that evening, she ambushed me as I walked in. A face flush with excitement, she announces with much delight… . Great news mum, I have a new favorite parent. . I was delighted, this was the moment! After all the false alarms of late, this was it, the favorite parent slot was mine again. She was finally going to take me back into the fold and place me in my rightful position. . I moved to hug her but had to pause as she gushed, it's your friend mom, she's my favourite! She gave me cake! Really nice cake too. . You are in 4th place now and that's a good thing as you are not in 3rd place anymore, you didn’t like being there.
