My beloved Lee Junho is in a new kdrama so I will be breaking my own rule and actually watching it week to week instead of waiting to binge. Here we go!

Already impressed with our heroine’s ability to walk like that with no heel on her shoe. Respect!

Ooh one of my favs from BTIMFL, Kim Ga Eun, playing one of the friends. We love a strong lady friend group.

I like that we got to see them both at the start of their careers and now they’re meeting again as proper adults.

I liked this. Everyone is pretty and the set up is classic. I haven’t watched a proper kdrama workplace romcom in a minute. I probably won’t post about every episode but I will be keeping up.

BECAUSE THIS IS MY FIRST LIFE

They say… Because This Is My First Life is boring.

I say, TOTALLY NOT!

Astonishment is an understatement for the feeling that I felt while watching the Kdrama. Okay, alright, I see where some are coming from when they say that BTIMFL is boring and lifeless. It doesn't have a nerve-racking or thrilling plot but the way it hits all the right spots in your heart is just astounding. The main characters were both played so well by Jung So-min (best girl) and Lee Min Ki who looks like the personification of a cat.

I cannot explain more how I loved the realness of the plotline. I connected with the characters and they felt like close friends to me, or someone I have known for a very long time already. In short, this drama felt like home. It's that drama that I always go back to when I get a "watcher's block" if that makes sense. The sincerity in the way they gave life to the script is what gave it away. Personally, I am a big fan of slice-of-life genres especially when it is centered around dreams and aspirations. I like it when I can relate and I can see myself in the characters.

The line that struck me the most and will forever be engraved in my mind is from the scene where she was walking through a dark tunnel after her co-worker sexually abused her:

"When I decided to follow my dream, I thought my life would be like walking through a dark tunnel. But I didn't know it would be this dark. I didn't know… it would be this lonely"

Every time I hear this… I just want to vomit, cry, lie down the road, violently stomp, and break down because of how relatable it is! This is exactly how it feels like reaching your dream when no one believes in you and you got to fend for yourself.

All in all, I'll fight for this Kdrama every chance that I get. So the rating I would give it is 1M/10. If you're looking for a series that will make you laugh, cry, and feel in love, or if you just want to unwind after finishing all three seasons of The Penthouse, watch Because This Is My First Life!!

Day 1 - First drama completed in 2022

Vagabond! I started watching the show in December 2021 but finished it earlier this year. If It doesn’t count, the answer would be Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.

Day 2 - Favourite actress discovered in 2022

Kim Ji-Won. Yeom Mi-jeong made me fall in love with her.

Day 3 - Favourite actor discovered in 2022

Lee Sang-Yeob. I developed a crush on him through Once Again.

Day 4 - Favourite OST from a 2022 drama

Ha Hyun Sang’s Be My Birthday from My Liberation Notes.

Day 5 - A visually beautiful 2022 drama

Twenty-Five Twenty-One and Our Blues ((((lol I’m cheating to mention more than one answer ㅋㅋㅋ)))))

Day 6 - A drama you dropped in 2022

Thirty Nine. I proceeded until the 2nd episode only. I was uncomfortable to see the main character has a romantic relationship with someone who has been married. Maybe I would pick it up again someday in the future if I have the mood.

Day 7 - Favourite character of 2022

Yeom Chang-hee from My Liberation Notes!!!!! In spite of his nagging, he can be so eloquent and wise. His words are like an arrow that hits the bull’s-eye. Other than that, he also can act so hilariously in the midst of his fucked up life. LMAO that’s actually a sign when someone has a good emotional quotient though.

Day 8 - A 2022 drama with an interesting story

Twenty-Five Twenty-One I can say. When I watched it, one hour felt exactly like a blink of an eye only. This show also triggered my longing of my younger days.

Day 9 - Oldest drama you watched in 2022

Full House!!!!!! Na Hee-Do’s obsession towards the comic influenced me to watch the show kkkkkk~ I am so overdue, ikr.

Day 10 - Have you rewatched a drama in 2022?

Of course I have!!! I watched Because This is My First Life for the 4th time in October. Rewatching BTIMFL when I’m approaching my birthday is a mandatory.

It was taking me forever but o finally finished BTIMFL and I love them so much😭

ahhh! i’m so glad you liked it, it’s my favorite drama as it’s literally so well written. You can tell the writers loved each character and wanted to the viewers to see their growth. If you want a similar drama in terms of writing, i highly recommend Reply 1988!

Because This Is My First Life (2017)

My God, this one took me by surprise. I had initially started watching it thinking it to be the usual fake love-turning-real and had less expectations from it. I had not anticipated the maturity which this drama goes on to exhibit.

I have a few reservations with the way it resolved the stories of some of the secondary characters, but well...

Worth watching for the way the story unfolds and the realistic portrayal of lives.
