i don't normally go to bat for disney but strange world was criminally slept on

LIKE. yeah its disney.

but

strange world was SUCH A GOOD FILM!!

and sometimes i think its important to recognize the individual filmmakers and animators outside of the corporation they work for. they're the ones whk make the art, disney just sells it

plus disney did it criminal with ths promotion of the film. grr

anyway. first of all, aesthetically, the film is amazing. its got sort of eco futuristic solarpunk vibes, i mean, LOOK AT THIS!!

and yeah we can make fun of the "first gay disney character" trope all we want but the gay character in this film, ethan, is one of the main characters, and his romance with his crush is treated normally. it's a bit pushed to the side as the movie goes on but its so cute look at them!!!!!!

AND THE STORY!! it focuses on the relationships between fathers and sons, between Jaeger (old guy) and Searcher (adult man) and Searcher and his son Ethan. it's about breaking away of your father's expectations but ending up like them. it's about how to heal the rifts generationally. it's such an interesting dynamic and focus for the story

BUT ITS ALSO ABOUT MORE THAN THAT! its got a strong environmental push in the film that i wasn't expecting. how should we, as humans, deal with an energy crisis when it is actively causing damage to the planet? how do we save the planet?

its kinda the environmental messaging that puts the onus on the collective people to save our planet than the billonare companies that make up like 90% of carbon emissions but it's still a good message to teach people of all ages that they can make their lives more eco friendly and that they can help save the planet

TLDR: Strange World is a good movie please watch it thank you

I watched the tale of princess kaguya last night and HOLY shit. That movie is so beautiful and heart wrenching I can't believe I hadn't watched that sooner. Life changing, definitely one of my favorite movies of all time, please watch it,

Hello! Is Dune a good movie?

YES.

Dune part 1 is much slower but you do need to watch it first. Now, Dune part 2, and I truly mean this, is probably the best movie I have ever seen. I saw it almost a week ago now and I cannot get it out of my head - the writing, the acting, THE CINEMATOGRAPHY!!! The entire movie was utterly breath taking I absolutely loved it.

And, of course, there are the characters. All I am saying it that there are not nearly enough Paul Atreides fics out there but the Feyd Rautha ones definitely make up for it (for reference, Feyd is the most unhinged, insane, blood thirsty character I have ever witnessed on screen and I loved everything about him).

In short - it's fucking amazing.

Hey guys so for my 2024 I’ve decided that my resolution is just that I just want to do and experience more. And I would like your assistance.

Breakdown: I want to try to decrease my doom scrolling time over multiple platforms and spend way less time going down weird YouTube rabbit holes. I want to try to spend my free time a little more productively.

I already intend to spend more time working on my creative hobbies, passion projects and hopefully socializing/expanding my circle, but I have to be realistic in that I know I’m going to want alone time, quiet time, and time were I just do want to chill out on my couch and do next to nothing except consume. We all have those days

Point of this post specifically: I want to watch more tv series’s. I want to watch more movies. I want to read more books. I want the media that I will inevitably consume this year to feel worth the time I spend with it. Problem is, I’ve been out of the loop for quite a while and don’t have a very good library of media to rely on.

So if anyone has any recommendations for TV shows, Movies or Books I can put on my list for the year, I would be very appreciative!

Points of interest for me are: history, slice of life, fantasy, magic/supernatural, various mythologies, adventure, drama, comedy, mystery, pure chaos, musicals, romance, queer stories, friendships/found family, self-discovery… etc…etc

Personally I think every ORV fan should get into the sci-fi romance duology by Yomoji Otono because not only is it immensely confusing and might deprive you of every brain cell you possess, it's also a heartbreaking multiverse/multiple lifetimes love story that kept me awake for hours after I watched it (but that might also just be because of how confused the movies' endings left me)

To anyone interested, the films are called 'To Every You I've Loved Before' and 'To Me, The One Who Loved You' ^^

Hey Termite I've got like a genuine question regarding Van from Minus Man. I've just seen a few clips (albeit without sound) and I wonder, is he autistic? I understand that this may sound a bit silly, but it just seemed like it to me what with how he acted and the similarities in some scenes in the way I act.

GOD its not canon but like. he is in my heart. he displays so many autistic traits throughout the movie its unreal. if you havent seen it already, its free to watch with ads on tubi. its a pretty subpar movie but like. it is the equivalent of having autism beamed directly into your brain
