ASK MEME N°19 ⸻ in another life, where do you think you would be? what would you be doing?

in another life, junho would be a better person. maybe he would even be an upstanding citizen in society. he would still have all of his family. his parents would've raised him to adulthood, seeing all of his highs and lows as he transitioned from a child to an adult. his best friend would've still been his older brother, teaching him everything he knew from everything he experienced years before junho ever would. he would still have his younger sisters, who he would've protected 'til his last breath. no, there was no way he would've taken the road he's been walking if everything stayed the same as it was. surely he'd be the type of son his mother would be proud of. well, he can't really tell her that. she might ask some questions and he doesn't need that. "why think about the impossible? this is the only life that matters. it seems so useless to ruminate about what could be or what could've been. there's nowhere else i would rather be, it's better to not dwell on these what ifs."

N°21 ⸻ describe how your room looks.

"i've been told that it looks like it's barely used. and they'd be right, because it is." he shrugs his shoulders, an air of nonchalance surrounding him. "i hardly ever bring people into my bedroom, it's probably the least used room in my apartment. i only ever go there to sleep or change clothes, and i only sleep for five to six hours a day anyway." he never likes bringing his business home, and prefers to not have strangers in his space. the few people who have ever been in his room only consisted of his friends who needed help with resting, and him being the great friend he was, allowed them to use his bedroom while he worked elsewhere in his apartment. he never knows when they'll stop by either, so he always feels the need to keep his space as clean as it can be. "it's kind of empty? it's nice and spacious, so it's really easy to clean. there's a tv on the wall facing my bed, i got two bedside tables on either side of my bed. i also have a bookshelf close to the window... i used to have a desk in my room when i was still studying, but i took it out because i don't want to be reminded of work when i'm trying to sleep."

         there’s the slight shake of a head.   ❛   he’ll pass out soon if i keep this up,   ❜   she states, tone quiet and mild. whoever this ratty, oily man they were interrogating was, he wasn’t one of the dregs. something about razors or seagulls or something, zafiya wasn’t entirely acquainted with ketterdam vernacular yet. but wrist and fingers curved, slowing an anxious beating heart and halted the chest before her threatening to enter a quicker pace of breath. no, she was to keep this body calm — even if it meant keeping the individual barely conscious — which is exactly what she was doing.

weary on her feet,  dizzy and starving are nothing new. ella has wandered the streets before and she knows she is destined to do it again. the dregs can be relentless, and kaz heads the definition with an iron-clad fist. she falls in line behind him with a heavy sigh into the cold air around them.  ❝  i knew that this was doomed from the get-go.  ❞  kicking at a rock underneath her hole-ridden shoes, ella does her best to keep her tone even. but even in her frustration and exhaustion, there is still warmth to her words. she might be remiss to admit it, for all of the cruel and unnecessary things that the bastard of the barrel has done, but there is a part of ella that still wants to help. eyeing the patch of blood on the shoulder of his coat, she breaks the beat of silence.  ❝  will you please let me help you?  ❞

disclaimer this isnt an accusation about anyone at all, this isn’t a vague etc etc. its just like — smth i’ve seen time n time again in general fandom spaces, and smth that is kinda prevalent in certain parts of the rpc : / in my honest onion: more ppl need to research ‘Negative Stereotypes / Tropes To Avoid When Writing (x) Muse’ before they start writing specific characters of colour. like it’s all well and good to be aware of issues like whitewashing and finding accurate fcs and researching cultures, but that doesn’t stop writers from falling into ‘this is very insensitive and borderline racist' traps when they write / talk about their characters ooc, too, u know? 🥴

there’s no point in correcting him, not when it’s likely true –– and if he’d truly been looking for comfort, then surely he knows better than to come to her. while she’s only been in ketterdam for a few weeks doing business for nikolai, she’s firmly cemented herself into the criminal underground. and, out of all the bars in the city, she finds herself frequenting the crow’s club –– therefore interacting with kaz brekker perhaps a bit more often than she would have liked.

idk  how  many  of  these  i’ll  get  so  i’m  gonna  tag  a  couple  people  i  think  this  could  apply  to  ...  although  i’m  not  entirely  sure  what  “asset”  means  in  terms  of  the  rpc,  so  i’m  choosing  to  interpret  it  openly.  

@dervoured​  :  for  me,  personally,  allie  has  really  been  a  huge  influence  in  terms  of  various  things,  but  most  notably  i’d  say  is  probably  the  way  i’ve  come  to  love  and  appreciate  original  characters.  that’s  not  to  say  i  didn’t  before,  because  i  absolutely  did  and  i  have  always  had  high  respect  for  them,  but  i  know  that  i  had  never  really  ventured  in  to  bringing  an  oc  to  the  rpc  until  allie.  because  of  her  i  feel  a  lot  more  comfortable  exploring  that  (  though  i’ve  yet  to  actually  properly  try,  it’s  in  the  works  ok,  i’m  working  on  it  )  -  and  also,  she’s  really  supportive.  i  know  that  i  can  rely  on  allie  to  spam  memes  whenever  i,  or  anyone,  asks  for  them.  which  is  neat.

@elskcv​  :  in  the  same  context  of  respecting  and  appreciating  something  that  previously  was  either  not  generally  accepted  in  the  rpc,  or  terrifying  to  explore,  i  know  i’ve  said  this  to  her  before  but  djaq  i  feel  has  been  a  driving  force  in  normalising  nsfw  content  in  the  rpc.  obviously,  that’s  not  the  only  thing  about  her  and  her  blog  that  i  adore,  and  it’s  not  the  sole  draw  either,  but  for  the  past  maybe  two  years  ?  i  think,  even  before  we  were  mutuals,  it  was  really  refreshing  to  see  how  unapologetic  she  was  about  what  she  wants  to  write,  and  what  her  characters  wanted  to  explore.  i  was  never  ashamed  to  want  to  write  that  genre  of  thread,  but  i  was  maybe  embarrassed  ?  to  ask  for  it  or  approach  anyone.  now,  i  think  largely  in  part  thanks  to  djaq,  i  wouldn’t  think  twice  about  posting  or  reblogging  anything  even  remotely  sexual.

@builtmyth​  :  yeah.  you.  honestly  just  so  happy  i  found  you  again  but  like.  since  we  first  started  following  each  other  way  back,  you  were  always  so  supportive  and  welcoming.  and  that  really  hasn’t  changed.  i  feel  like  encouraging  other  people  and  engaging  with  what  they  post  is  something  that  a  lot  of  people  either  struggle  to  do,  or  simply  don’t  want  to.  i  know  that  i’ve  been  trying  really  hard,  especially  in  recent  months,  to  try  and  reach  out  more  whether  it’s  to  plot  or  interact,  or  just  like  or  comment  on  other  people’s  posts  so  they  know  they’re  not  screaming  in  to  the  void,  and  i  think  a  lot  of  that  is  at  least  somewhat  in  part  because  of  you.  you  really  do  just  support  the  community  in  whatever  they  do  and  i  think  it  means  a  lot  to  people,  even  if  they  don’t  say  it.  also  your  graphics  are  fire.

we’re  not  following  each  other  here,  and  we  haven’t  spoken  in  a  really  long  time,  but  i  have  to  include  @ofmalice  /  @villainsrph​  in  this  one.  i  think  for  the  most  part,  everyone  i  know  can  attest  to  briar’s  contribution  to  the  rpc  in  terms  of  his  commission  work.  there  are  so  many  talented  people  in  the  community  and  all  of  their  work  is  phenomenal,  i  certainly  have  no  idea  how  they  do  it,  but  i  think  it’s  safe  to  say  that  briar’s  is  probably  some  of  the  most  recognisable  ?  he’s  also  really  consistent  and  considerably  easy  to  work  with.

@outlawiism​  :  and  to  round  this  off  at  five,  i  gotta  add  lucy  here.  i  feel  like  lucy  is  such  a  positive  influence  on  the  dash,  and  really  encourages  everyone  to  put  themselves  first  and  practice  self  care  ?  there  have  been  times  where  i’ve  felt  really  down  and  they’ve  reached  out  and  commented  support,  and  i’ve  seen  that  consistently  on  my  dash  even  before  we  became  mutuals,  for  any  number  of  people.  i  wouldn’t  be  surprised  if  she  scoured  the  dash  looking  for  posts  to  sprinkle  glitter  on.  whether  you  interact  with  her  or  not,  she’s  almost  always  posting  something  uplifting  and  i  think  that’s  something  that  community  really  needs.
