Shigeru

The Elder anticipated your smooch and retaliates with his own. He is quick, faster than you'd given him credit for as he delightfully catches you off guard.

"Come", he beckons and lets you give him your smooch.

i’ve been meaning to talk about this for a while but I was too scared of the reaction people might have, but you know what? fuck it

i really wish like 80% of the bullet train fandom wasn’t all about tangerine

like i absolutely get it and I understand (hell, he’s my second favourite character and I love him to bits!), but you know, there are SO MANY other characters and the whole plot is so fun and twisty that it makes me sad it’s being reduced to just that

i mean, one of the things i love most about bullet train is how all the different stories tie into each other and how at the end of the day all the characters have some kind of correlation to each other in some way, so to see all that be left unused is really :/

seriously this thing has so much fandom potential with how diverse and different the characters are and with the whole colourful funky aesthetic, i’m telling you guys!

I would do something about it and try to create something if I weren’t the least original person on this planet lmao

again, I in no way mean to attack or offend anyone who has been creating content about tangerine, you guys are doing a great job and you’re having fun, which is what really matters (and honestly, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t indulge in it from time to time), I just wish there was a bit more variety I guess :/

Yuichi gets only small respites of joy, and one of them is watching his son enjoy himself. Whenever Wataru smiles with chocolate covering his face, or clutches a new toy to his chest, Yuichi feels like he’s done at least one thing right in his life. 

Right now he’s watching Wataru run riot at the playground in the park near their house. He’s trying to take him out more, even just to do the little things. Wataru loves it. Spending more time with his father is the absolute best thing he can think of, and Yuichi is doing his utmost to make up for the time he squandered before. 

His son waves at him from the top of the slide, and Yuichi smiles. He doesn’t realise someone has taken a seat on the bench next to him. 

He gives you a cursory glance, then does a double take. Your face. He knows you. From the bullet train. You were there, in the middle of it all - fuck, he can remember your knife…

You see he’s frozen up and sigh. 

“I’m not here to hurt you.”

“Forgive me if I don’t believe that.”

You sniff and readjust how you’re sitting, smooth down your skirts. 

“I’m sorry I tried to stab you. It wasn’t personal. We were both fooled by people on that train.”

Well, to be fair, that is true. He can’t hold that one against you. Still doesn’t tell him what you’re after, though. 

The two of you sit in silence until you clear your throat. 

“That’s my son,” you say, nodding towards the swings. It seems Wataru, in the few seconds Yuichi has been looking away, has managed to strike up an immediate friendship with another boy in the way children are so easily able to do. Wataru speaks animatedly, his new companion seeming slightly shy. 

Yuichi is proud. Wataru has a knack for making friends. 

“We had to move after the whole… White Death affair. Fresh start. So I suppose we have another thing in common.”

His eyes drop to your hands. No wedding ring. A single parent too, perhaps.  

“So I’m meant to believe that you turning up here, in this park, is what? Coincidence?”

“Perhaps,” you shrug, easy, “or perhaps it’s fate.”

Yes, he heard that word being bandied around a lot back on that train. Funny. He studies you properly. Your profile, the elegant way you sit: back straight, legs crossed at the ankles. A total contrast to his slouch.

You’re quite beautiful. 

“Would you like to go to dinner?” he asks, at the same time as you say: “maybe we should take the boys to get an ice cream.”

The way your eyes widen as you realise what he’s said is enough to make him laugh.
