Now I’m intrigued, what’s the title of the unreleased book? I want to gaze wistfully too!
Night Vale URL, respect! The book synopsis and cover that I am gazing longingly at isn't even really *that* exciting in itself, it just pertains specifically to my interests and has almost the exact vibes I've been looking for in a book at this moment that it's killing me I can't snatch it up immediately to check it out. For all I know the book when its actually released will be terrible as I'm hyping myself up over the superficial, including comparison reviews to my favourite media, which comparison reviews in the past to it on other books have literally always let me down, but... but... I have learned nothing from my mistakes and this one just calls to me regardless and I MUST know.
The book is In Nightfall by Suzanne Young.

Anyway, anyone who knows me knows that 1. I will not shut up about the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, go watch it, go watch it now, please, please, please, it is my favourite show, it is ingrained into my very being, it makes up half my personality, and while I'll be the first to point out its flaws, it has such a hold on me filled with nostalgia, it is the epitome of tragedy and comedy and no one understands what makes it so good in the first place as all these comparisons usually miss the heart and core of the show, instead slapping on just the superficial surface elements of girl power and bad jokes that fail to emulate its style and calling it a day. So I don't really trust those comparisons in the reviews, yet when I do see something compare itself to Buffy, I can't help but think what if? What if this one does get it? What if this one can fill the void just a little? It's been nearly 8 years since I watched the show personally, and 21 yrs since it ended and still nothing has come close, but the vibes feel so enticing here that I have cautious optimism, especially since my reading a book of Buffy essays recently caused me to want to find something Buffyesque again and I've been scouring for anything to no avail, so the fact this just so happened across my goodreads dash by accident almost made me lose it.
And then 2. While I'm neutral on the Lost Boys, and this synopsis seems to compare more to that movie than to Buffy, it's one of those somewhat silly 80s horror classics with a vibe I have so much respect for and think needs to return to the modern age.
Meanwhile the cover, I don't know I just really love it, it gives off classic kind of graphic novel vibes, and I really like that look, I want to practice drawing more so I can draw a cover like that, man, it's beautiful and absolutely does give off 80s/90s cult classic energy.
