To commemorate five years since the finale of our beloved Killjoys, this September we'll be celebrating Killjoys month!!!!! Official post with prompts coming out at the end of June, but I thought I'd give a quick update to share the current plans so people know what's up :) (and to let people know this blog exists now so you know where to check for updates <3)

The majority of the votes went to 'month' over 'week', but since the difference was very small I have decided to go for the best of both worlds and have two lists of prompts:

One set of prompts will be the ones you'll probably be familiar with if you've seen appreciation weeks come by before (think: 'favourite character(s)', 'favourite episode(s)', etc.) There will be 7 of these total, so feel free to use that to simulate a Killjoys week within September if that's your preference :)

The other set will be a broader list of words/concepts/lines from the show that can be used for inspiration (more along the lines of 'endings' or 'memory' or 'the warrant is all')

The idea is that people can choose which prompts they want to use and when-- mixing & matching absolutely welcome. And of course: no pressure, joining for one prompt only is totally cool!

I'd love some more input on the second prompt list especially! There's a google form you can fill out if you'd like to vote on the current list I have and also suggest your own.

A/N: Thx for the request! I'm personally going to enjoy this one bc I really like horror/supernatural kind of genre and I'm going to be inspired by some of my fav manga characters and their abilities but I'll make other ideas for this character/oc? (which is just not really obvious on my media here lol). Genre: not really fluff and lemon ; slight angst (but there are some cute parts though) TRIGGER WARNING: mentions of g*re, bl**d, organs/limbs, mut*lat*on, mentions of social anxiety and depressive episodes, kidnapping, cannibalism, trust issues, toxic relationships at some parts, NOT FOR SENSITIVE AND YOUNG AUDIENCES Another thing, if you're having thoughts like these I suggest that you don't read this. It's okay if you like gore and the horror genre but don't take anything personally! And stay safe and healthy (keep your physical and mental health in check)

Guide: Y/N (Your Name/Self Insert)

Age: (same age with the character of choice)

Sex: Female (feel free to change if you're uncomfortable)

Abilities: body mutilation, regeneration, immortality (slowly getting physically or looking old but you do have a birthday), clone making, weapon making, strategic planning, whatever else you want to add in.

Talents: *self insert*

Weaknesses (I want to give her some flaws): hand to hand combat, weakness of fire/heat, bad luck, (Bonus!: overthinker in calculations, slow memory and naïve at times, poor eyesight, lacks leadership and socializing, easily gets distracted, short tempered)

Is her powers cursed? Nobody knows. Though the only way to break it and to make her finally rest in peace is to learn how to love (cheesy Ik but let me explain later on). Not meaning to be edgy, but she hears voices in her head and she hallucinates of a beautiful (almost perfect) looking girl saying nasty things for her to do. Good thing she can control it at times.

Oh boi, they seem to be chill and unbothered about your abilities but you know deep down that they're probably planning something about you. You're going to be a great weapon machine. Yoojin, Goo, and Baek might even acknowledge this as a great feat. But you know that behind that smile there's a foul intention hiding.

(Not promoting this behavior!): You seem to have trouble with trusting your peers making socializing hard for you. It may seem to be an easy task for most people but it can be a challenge for you. You may be good with your preferred hobbies but you know deep down that doing simple tasks in your daily life can be troubling. Good thing that he has your back for most times to protect you from harm, even if you're immortal.

This might sound toxic but I think most guys in this list/category will probably use you for their own advantage. Whether it's for strategic planning or in a physical fight he will be willing to train you because he believes that you got so much crazy potential. It's no big deal (no pun intended) for him if you got your arm or leg broken if you even got regenerative abilities (Jinyoung might kidnap and drug you out of "pure" curiosity of what the hell is your body capable of). It's also another interesting thing if you can make your own weapons. At least you can defend yourself from opponent's attacks even when you're losing. But he thinks that your abilities is not enough. You need to train, you need to get stronger since he saw that flaw on you that you depend on weaponry. Expect him to either whoop your ass for a beating everyday or do scientific experiments on you to know if you got more abilities that you are hiding from him and he wants to know your limits. Your endurance, durability, speed, IQ and defense are one of your greatest feats. But you often struggle to take the offense and with your strength, stamina and you need more battle knowledge plus experience. He wants to make you his greatest weapon.

It may be easy for them to just beat you in one punch or kick, but he knows that he may be fighting death. It doesn't mean that he's better at hand and hand combat is that you're not going to bring your guard down. You got your weapons and the only way to evade your attacks is if he is fast enough or if he has insane durability. Despite appearing as a normal being at times, you get easily agitated and stressed. This may trigger your powers and even a single scratch or drop of blood can produce another clone of you own even if it's a really slow process. And you getting pissed off is dangerous, it can cause chaos on your surroundings and you might even unintentionally harm the ones you consider your family. He might consider training your attitude though.

He might even make theories or hypothesis about your abilities. Is it a curse or is it really on your genes? But so far he knows that based on what you said, you never really find or felt love even from your close "friends" or family. He asked why you felt this way but you just don't really know the answer. If you actually get to know each other and have a deep connection he might actually like you, though at times it's just not obvious. He might not be the most affectionate but he promises that he'll try to be more gentle with his approach. You don't know if you could trust that though.

Sinu Han/Kuroda Ryuhei/Vin Jin/Gongseob Ji/Doo Lee/Jake Kim (Goo Kim ; a bit he's more chill than the others above)

Another one who's not really disturbed by your abilities or yourself. But he's not going to use you either. He's fine with you being a succubus or a demon as long as you won't hurt anybody intentionally. Though he can't help but to be amazed by it. "Wow! You can really do that? Can you show me a trick of yours or something?" "Do I really look like a dog to you?" He's just going to let you be. You are you and he wants you to live your best life.

GORE WARNING: He's not really demanding you to help him to deal off his enemies but he'll still appreciate your help nonetheless. But he'll still get really worried about you since he deeply cares tbh. He knows that you're not really a pro with hand to hand combat. But your creation ability and regenerative powers is a great advantage. But he doesn't want you to get hurt. Trust me he'll be in a state of shock when you started crying when you broke your arm or when it got cut off. Your limbs may have the ability to grow back, but you can still feel the pain and it may take a while for it to grow another clone of yours. So it's best if you don't make him worried, he can handle this business on his own.

He lowkey gets scared when you have an episode (like for example when Tomie grows another clone of hers when being triggered or mutilated). He wants to help you out as possible to just stop the drama but he doesn't know how to approach you when these events happen. He will try his best to comfort you though after.

He always feels bad that you experience getting mutilated over and over again. As you explained to him, the more you get revived, you slowly lose your humanity and sense of empathy. You often tried your best to mingle with other people but you end up being awkward and coming out as loud and strong to them making most avoid you. This frustrates you a lot as you want to live peacefully but your powers won't just let you be. He will try his best though in including you to social events and daily activities like partying and spending time with his friends and acquaintances so he hopes that you'll enjoy and appreciate his efforts! And if you're in a romantic relationship with him, he'll make you feel that you are worth it and he'll make you feel loved. Who knows the devil inside you might calm down for a while as you enjoy your moments with him.

Daniel Park/Jay Hong/Zack Lee/Vasco (Lee Eun Tae)/Jace Park/Eli Jang/Warren Chae/Jerry Kwon/Lineman/Brad Lee/Kwak Jihan & Jibeom/Jiho Park/Yuseong/Duke Pyeon/Xiaoleoung

He was a bit concerned with your abilities, almost not believing you at first if you asked me. Daniel might understand you more than the other guys in this list because of his ability to pass his consciousness with his two bodies at will. For sure you know that he was a bit scared about what you are capable of. Though he tries to be respectful with your feelings as possible since he doesn't want you to feel left out or feel misunderstood. Vasco, Jerry, Lineman, and Zack may ask questions again while you can hear his voice getting shaky mixing with his curiosity. (Cannibalism warning!) "Yo-You're a demon? Do you eat humans?" "I can if I want to make myself more powerful. But in exchange of that, I will completely loose my control over myself. So not necessarily because I don't want to. My diet is composed of what humans eat so you don't have to be scared, though it's understandable if you want to distance yourself from me." "NO NO IT'S OKAY I PROMISE!" "SH! BE QUIET!"

With the other more mature guys in this list, he may ask why you have the ability to make yourself to be stronger with you eating others. "It depends on the person. If I consumed a beautiful teenager around my age, I might be able to resemble like her or get some of her striking attributes like her prettiness. Or if I ate a powerful opponent, my hand to hand combat or creation will get more stronger and deadlier. It can probably enhance my regenerative powers but I wouldn't risk it. It can feed her up at have complete control over my body." "Who's her?" he asked as you pointed something behind his back with the coldest eyes. "Behind you." (ANOTHER THING! If someone is completely concerned or is actually really emotionally close with you they might see what you're seeing. It's a really pretty girl almost resembling like you, but her physical appearance has no flaws. But the one of the main difference between the two of you is that her attitude is, well not really pleasing and good if you asked me. She can't also touch other people but she can control you when you're experiencing uncontrollable negative emotions, hence it's the reason why you switch personalities in times of stressful events).

He'll be in a state of panic when you limbs got cut off again. He might take you to the nearest hospital but you told him that doctors will probably hold an experiment on you if they learned about your regenerative abilities. So the only solution he can make up with is him stitching your limbs together so you wouldn't produce another clone. After some weeks your body is back to normal and there is no hint of scars on your arms and legs. He is relieved that you are feeling better now.

You mentioned of how you never felt satisfied with your daily life despite being talented at the things you do. He may ask the reason why but you couldn't really find the answer. You often see your classmates chatting and having a great time, why couldn't you have that too despite helping them out when they need assistance? Are you not enough? Are you boring or too loud? Are you ugly? You couldn't even know the answer. The only theory he can make up is that your insecurities and hatred against other people can feed up the "demon" in you to be stronger and take over you. And that hallucination of yours is a reflection of your wrath, envy, and greed getting stronger if you loose control because of you looking for your own perfection. So you got to take a hold on yourself and actually start appreciating yourself. He doesn't blame you if you feel insecure about yourself, but you got to start to change and be more open to everybody even to him if you need advice in your life. He'll make you remind that despite having your own flaws, your kindness shouldn't be abused by other people who wants to take advantage of it and he's thankful that you helped him out in his darkest times when others can't or don't want to. And you shouldn't bring yourself down most of the times. But your "friend" is not pleased with this though. She often reminds you that you're just a pawn to be used by other people and how you wouldn't be strong or approachable without her. Often gaslighting you at times since she's scared of getting physically weaker because of your humanity taking over. So you and him have to work hard to make this bitch calm down. He'll give you lots of hugs and kisses and whispering to your ear about how he loves you. It's your guardian angel helping you out as best as possible battling with your worst enemy, the devil in your head and consciousness.

Samuel Seo/Johan Seong/Hudson Ahn/Daniel Park (post-Gun training arc)/Jace Park/Magami Kenta/Kwak Jichang/Taesoo Ma/Mandeok

He's not really surprised or disturbed by this discovery. But that doesn't mean he's not concerned. It might have hurt on your part to be cut off over and over again. And it might not be obvious since he's mostly calm at times but he doesn't like it when he sees you experiencing this phenomenon. It may have been something along with black magic or a curse even if he doesn't really believe in those unrealistic stuff. But so far he believes that what you're experiencing is not scientifically possible.

A little background story: He'll be asking why your devil just wouldn't leave you alone. You explained to him that you didn't knew either as you just woke up with no prominent scars or wounds on your body. You remembered being in a fight with your so called "friends" who have betrayed you and who have taken your life somewhere between the woods when they asked you out for camping. The authorities couldn't lock them up because of lack of evidence against them. Then you just woke up on your house like nothing happened. You were shocked that the year was different from when you died, maybe around 1987. You tried making contact with the people you used to know in your past life but you couldn't get a hold on them. They're probably dead or they may have forgotten about you. You just didn't know. He suggested if you got reincarnated in a new body but it's far from truth. Your body still looked exactly the same like in the past. And it just doesn't make sense if you woke up with a devil whispering to your ear about the nastiest shit ever and you just don't age at all.

He'll also be in a state of shock the moment your body produces another clone or when your limbs got cut off. He doesn't know what to do since you producing a clone that gets stronger can affect your mental health and you're both in the middle of a fight that can harm both of your lives. He will have a hard decision if he should just run away with you or fuck up that bastard's face for getting you hurt.

Like I said, they might not be the most affectionate out of the bunch but some of them are more mentally stable than the others above except for Samuel and Johan but anwaysss. He'll make sure that you eat normally and sleep well. He'll have a chat with you there and then so it wouldn't trigger your negative emotions and keep them in control. And he'll also spend his quality time with you even when he's tired like cuddling with you on the bed and giving your head some pecks.

Ah, my dude, I shouldn't laugh but I think you hit the holy trinity of anti-RWBY "critics" on your first go, that's rough. I watch a handful of reactors that tend to be quite positive about the show and Bumbleby.

I'd 100% recommend Xiao Long Media (hyping my fellow Brits), they're brilliant and practically embody Blake and Yang, they do a livestream analysis as well as reactions, they're definitely my favourites. There's OrganoidZero - they don't have a massive following on YouTube as I think they post on another platform first but they're really funny, love BB and tend to go through Twitter/Tumblr posts about the episode as well, theirs is post-episode rather than live reactions. Phoenix/Night - he's really analytical and thoughtful, same with ThatKaitoDan and You All Write, if you like analysis and thought videos. Otherwise, there's also Calxiyn who is super enthusiastic, she usually has some golden nuggets of insight and good reactions - though, is infinitely more enjoyable if you're a die-hard Neo stan 🤣 worth checking out, she's full of energy and great if you need a smile. Annndd... Rykage, cos... Again, fellow Brit, and quite funny.

Can't think of any more off the top of my head but all the above tend to be positive posters! If anyone can think of any others feel free to add to the list. Chances are that I'll end up following them as well!

You know what I love about Andor, among other things, that it shows that fighting the empire is a collaborative effort. That people helping each other can accomplish the unthinkable; that they don't need to be a hero that did a big, flashy thing to matter and be just as heroic.

That as the episode title suggests, sometimes, there's only one way to go, one way out. It's ride or die.

Man vs. Sewer

“Alrighttttt, here’s the next one (as requested by @dabibliophile)!!! Man vs. Sewer is a great episode, but it low-key caught me off-guard the first time I watched it... Like Raph genuinely lost it, and it wasn’t played off as a joke or anything which is how it’s often is in cartoons. I know rottmnt has its fair share of plot-related episodes, but tbh when I first watched Rise, I was seeing it more as a fun tmnt show, but this episode was what made me realize how good this series actually was...

-Particularly the “you know how savage” and “clocks ticking” parts. They know this about him. They know it doesn’t take long. And it’s not played for laughs.

-How Raph starts taking deep breaths and his eyes look glossed over like he’s trying to avoid crying

-He didn’t even notice how much damage he did to the room...

-”Don’t lose it Raph! please...”

-THAT SOFT ‘please’ RAPH SAYS AT THE END GETS ME EVERY TIME??? HE KNOWS WHATS COMING??? 

-And while this is exaggerated, as someone who frequently has panic attacks, can I just say that this episode display’s the progress of what it feels like very well? You can feel it coming, and try all the deep breathing you want, but with every moment you feel more lost... idk I just really like this ep, ok??

-”He’s one of those turtle-jerks we hate y’know for... reasons I can’t remember... leTS EaT hiM!”

-”YES! well, actually, full disclosure, I dunno”

-”Today’s vibes were supposed to be chill, so I went ahead and filled my battleshell with refreshment.” “Just one, Donald?”

-Ok, but I do think Mikey somewhat relies on Raph to keep him calm and safe, after all, Raph is the mother hen and the most protective- especially of Mikey. It makes sense that Mikey is having a hard time too, and I think a lot of his flippant concern is just him trying to ignore that he doesn’t currently have one of the most stable people in his life, and they’re the ones trying to save Raph... it’s probably taking a lot out of all of them

-Mikey tried to cling onto Donnie while falling

-”MAKE A HUMAN SHIELD AROUND MEEEEE” Leo. you’re a turtle. you’re all turtles.

-”100% not Raph, staking my life on it, shorts” “RAPH. ALOOOOONE” “it might be Raph, but who’s to say anymore?”

-Raph may be savage, but he’s still got requirements for his taste, so he puts lemon on the crabs. But then again, he put it directly in their eyes???? was that supposed to be torture???

-”Are you barbequing villains?”

-Raph’s comment about having ‘no brothers’ makes me wonder if he remembers his years as a turtle somewhere deep inside and the time he would’ve spent alone... idk man...

-”No one’s gonna shout the answer at me and make all my problems disappear!”

-They aren’t scared of him after... They just immediately go to hug him... it’s very important

-”Aw, I love you guys” SAID SO CASUALLY BY RAPH I WANNA CRY

tl;dr this episode is really sweet, but surprisingly serious. It has its fun moments, but a lot of it feels like its hinting at more to come, and even if it isn’t, it’s still a really interesting look into Raph as a character

(also sorry this was a bit longer and slightly more serious than the others, it’s just a really great ep- check out @davids-cartoon-corkboard​ he has some really great theories on it!!)

Star Wars the Clone Wars Watch List

So Clone Wars is one of my favorite shows. But there are episodes that make me wonder why whenever I watch it. I've found lists of essential episodes to watch, but rarely why we should or shouldn't watch them. So I put together a complete list for what episodes are worth watching vs skipping and why. Of course, it's still somewhat subjective, but I tried to keep it as neutral as I could. Y'all are welcome to check it out. And if you think I'm wrong or have suggestions, feel free to message me about it! I'll probably be constantly going back and editing it for a while. Changing my mind and all that, ya know?

It's in chronological order, with links to the episodes on Disney+, which I got from star wars dot com. Arcs/connected episodes are grouped together, and you can filter categories of episodes out based on various criteria. It's clunky, and might be easier if you skip the filter feature, but it's what I could do and maybe it'll help someone. Please let me know if it's useful, I want to know.

I've wanted to make this for awhile so I could share it with people who were considering watching the show, but didn't want to put up with the more useless episodes. I only actually did it recently because a friend was asking for recommendations on which episodes to skip for a marathon.

Melons and Murders

We didn't do anything special on the 4th of July. Because only 30-something percent of Tennesseans are vaccinated and the Delta variant is unpredictable, we're still avoiding crowds. It sucks because I really want to enjoy a ballgame or a concert. Downtown Nashville broke a previous record by hosting an estimated 400,000 drunken idiots for an Independence Day celebration. What could possibly go wrong there, right? So we stayed home, grilled some brats, and watched tv while our neighborhood lit up like a combat zone. It was insane. After all of that grumpy complaining, I'm actually here to pay tribute to summer food. As far as I'm concerned, the absolute QUEEN of the summer is the Sugar Kiss melon.

This melon will change your life. I've never tasted anything so good. Don't be deceived into thinking this is just a cantaloupe. This is magic in your mouth. This melon tastes like it's been injected with vanilla and sugar. They're only in season for a brief part of the summer and we eat about three a week. Not even kidding. We get ours at Publix, even though I've seen and purchased them elsewhere, the Publix melons seem to be at peak freshness. I don't know if Kroger warehouses theirs before they're in stores or what, but the Publix melons are superior. You'll spot Sugar Kiss melons right away, wrapped in their distinctive blue mesh and set apart from the other cantaloupe. Get one (no, seriously, get two) and you can thank me later. It wouldn't be summer without watermelon. I buy one every Saturday, chunk it up and keep it in a big, lidded tub in the frig. When I come in from working in the yard, hot and sweaty, a couple of pieces of chilled watermelon cools me down faster than anything I could drink. Mickey says the same thing. It's always sad toward the end of summer when watermelon becomes scarce. I have some heirloom seeds from my Grandma Ethel's watermelon patch that I treasure, and I haven't had the courage to plant them. How silly is that? I'd hate to get my hopes up and have some stupid pest ruin everything. Anyyywhooo...back to watermelon. Aside from just eating it straight, I'm addicted to this combo.

Day after day, I drop chunks of watermelon into a bowl, sprinkle some feta and a bit of chopped, fresh mint leaves, then top it with a quick squeeze of lime, just a little. Holy moley, I hear angels sing when I eat this. The super sweet melon, the salty feta, the zing from the mint and the lime - it's everything a summer dish should be. It doesn't hurt my feelings that it's really pretty to look at too. Know what else I'm addicted to? Breakfast salads. I love breakfast, it's my favorite meal of the day. I would be content to eat a hearty breakfast and then just nibble for the rest of the day. Normally I'll dice up tomato and onion and get it sizzling in a skillet, then I'll throw in some riced broccoli.

Once that's cooked through, I season and scramble two eggs and pour that in - a few stirs with a spatula and I've got a bowlful of veggie eggs and a yummy breakfast. If you're so inclined and can spare the calories, add cheese or bacon or whatever floats your boat. It's delicious, low in calories and fat, offers plenty of protein and fiber, and will keep you full all day. Winner. Lately I've been throwing together a flavorful salad...spring greens, a quarter of an avocado, a tablespoon of feta, and a tablespoon of crumbled bacon. Super simple.

Then I spritz a pan with a little olive oil and fry an egg. I season it like crazy and plop it right on top of the salad.

When I cut through the egg it releases the warm, yummy yolk as a dressing and coats everything. It's a delicious, healthy breakfast. The mister and I are still working the Weight Watchers thing. It's so stinkin' easy and NOTHING is off limits. I'm on the Purple Plan because I don't like to log things, so I have a bazillion "free" foods but only 16 points a day. The items that cost me are fatty things like mayo and butter. As long as I eat clean and whole foods (even whole grain pasta is zero points for me!) I can finish every day with points to spare. A grilled chicken breast with roasted broccoli and sweet potato is a zero point meal. How simple is that? Of course, that doesn't mean I don't have treats. It didn't take me long to figure out that a macaron is just two points and totally worth it. I'm down 21 pounds and it's been embarrassingly easy to do. It's been a slow drip, pretty much a pound a week, but it's the easiest diet I've ever been on and I think I've tried them all. Sorry, I rambled. I promised melons and murder. The murder part is really more of a question for you. It's no secret that I'm a true crime junkie. My DVR history is frightening- Snapped, Cold Justice, etc. My reading list looks like I'm either planning or solving a murder. But I'm new to true crime podcasts. When I'm at my desk I like to listen to a murder or two, usually tuning into a Dateline series (the Mommy Doomsday episodes will blow your mind). I'm in the market for other podcasts though, so I'm asking for your favorites. Sam sighed and ran a hand through his hair, hurrying to his blue locker and opening it. It was the end of the school day and he was definitely ready to go home and watch a new documentary he found about baby penguins. That got stuck at the back of his mind when he saw a small penguin plush smack dab in the middle of his clean locker though. The penguin could easily sit on the palm of his hand, and it was black and white. The strangest thing about it was the fluorescent yellow post it note on the belly of the penguin.

This penguin is as adorable as you, Sam.

Sam was really confused, why would someone want to be his secret admirer? He had known what a secret admirer was from an episode of some stupid show he used to watch. The flirting on the note had made a blush crawl up his chest and neck though, making his stomach flip like he had just drove down a steep hill. He just didn't know what to do, but he knew that he had to talk to his best friend about this predicament.

"sam the man, what's up?" Sam shook his head and slammed the penguin plush on Zahid's work counter, making his friend roll his eyes but when he saw the note his neutral expression changed to a smirk "what is this? Dude! You have a secret admirer. That's like... Free pussy" Sam wrinkled his nose at the term, "I need to know who it is, Zahid." he sighed, starting to feel overwhelmed. Why couldn't the person just be straightforward with this? Zahid shook his head with a pity smile "Sam, my man, there is nothing to do to get them to reveal themselves. Just let it run its course and in no time there will be another girl added to the bone list" he rocked his hips in a jokey way, and Sam just groaned and put on his headphones. He took the penguin before walking out, leaving his annoying friend.

Y/n didn't know Sam too well. He sat a row behind him in his art class and that's actually how he knew Sam's love for penguins. The amount of talented art y/n had seen of his was amazing, but also he felt as if sneaking little looks at the drawings made him closer to Sam. Not in a weird way, but y/n felt like he were taking small glances at his heart and mind, and that was sacred.

Sam had given up on getting advice for the secret admirer problem, not mentioning it to anyone but Zahid. The next day, he was surprised but happy to find two charcoal pencils at his desk, in perfect lines parallel to where he sat. There was a longer note this time.

Penguins are nice, no? The way you get so happy when you see anything about penguins is beautiful, by the way.

The room was mostly empty aside from three people. One of them was the boy who sat behind Sam. The most logical thing to do is to ask him about the secret admirer. "that's a teridactyl, right?" Sam had a lesson from his sister about starting a conversation before asking for something. Y/N looked up from his sketchbook in surprise before moving his arm and showing the half coloured drawing "uh yeah, guess so." Sam nodded and stood there for a few long seconds, before y/n cleared his throat "do you uh- need anything?" Sam nodded "did you see someone put charcoal on my desk today? If so I would like a full body description and/or name, please" he added the please on quickly.

Y/n stumbled on his words a little bit before coming out with "just some random guy" shit. Shit. Shit! Why did he say guy?! Sam looked shocked for a moment before a small smile adorned his face, making y/n melt. "guy" he whispered, before looking at y/n "thank you," he said quickly, sitting down in his seat and getting out the rest of his things. As an add on, Sam turned his head and nodded "the drawing is nice" he whispered.

It was a week later when Sam returned to his locker. The halls were basically empty because he had to stay behind at the end of the day, but when he got to the hallway his breath caught in his throat. Y/n was sticking a sticky note to a bouquet of lillies that he was about to put in the open locker. Sam's open locker. When he heard the squeak of Sam's shoes, y/n turned around and the bouquet dropped from his hands onto the shiny floor.

"you're my secret admirer" Sam said in a factual tone, his expression unreadable as he slowly walked toward the other. Y/n was frozen, like a deer in the headlights "you weren't meant to see this, or.. Me" he whispered, his wide (eye colour) eyes stuck on his crushes face. Sam gave a smile, trying to be reassuring to the other teen who was just staring at him dumbly "I-I really do enjoy your gifts, and notes. Please don't run off, I won't be rude about it" Sam said to y/n who was planning on running. Sam lowered himself to pick up the fallen flowers and note.

You're so sweet, Sam. As stunning as the petals on this flower, and as breathtaking as the bouquet. I apologize if my poetry is strange, but its the only way to express how I feel.

Dearest, your secret admirer~

After Sam read it out loud, he glanced up at y/n who had taken a step forward and was now right in front of Sam. Sam looked up slightly at the taller male, a soft expression on his face as he held y/n's hand so they both held the bouquet. "Sam, can I hug you?" he asked breathily, and Sam nodded before wrapping his arms quite clumsily and awkwardly around the others waist. Y/n was left holding the bouquet as he let Sam bury his head into the crook of Y/n's neck. "hey Sa-" Casey gaped at the scene in front of her, a proud tear coming to her eye which she blinked away.

Y/n let Sam pull away, feeling his heart swell at the sight of a dark blush coating the awkward man's cheeks. Y/n couldn't speak though, almost positive the tips of his ears were red too. He pushed the bouquet to Sam's chest, giving him a smile "I'll talk to you on Monday, okay?" he said in a low tone, making Sam nod quickly. Y/n cleared his throat and looked over at Casey, waving at her "afternoon" and just like that Sam's secret admirer had walked away, a grin on his face. Sam stared after him, a shaky smile on his face as Casey went to her phone to rant about what she just saw to their mother.

Magical Otoge Iris review

I'll be upfront and say that on an emotional level, I'd give this game a 9/10. But honestly, it's probably an 8/10. I'll detail why, and also give some tips about how I think you should play this game.

MOI is about Iris, who grew up as an orphan and was adopted by Val, a Magician's familiar. Magicians are guardians of the worlds, and Iris inherited a part of a Magician's power. Growing up she was pretty lonely, except for her childhood friend Rieffe. However, he disappears during their childhood. When Iris grows up, she becomes a Purifier, purifying corrupted spirits so they can pass onto the afterlife. She has a teacher named Reqieu (it's canon that nobody knows how to spell or say his name) who she is close with. The Magician Wynrou gives her a super special lance that is so special it is a spirit, a glasses-wearing grumpy guy named Lanneis. As Iris gets more involved with the Magicians, she meets one of the Magicians, Septem, who records people's lives before they pass onto the afterlife. The story has a ton of characters, all of whom I love. They are all lovely and funny and distinct. Batensan's humor is very meta and there's lots of cute and funny scenes. However, they're also super good at angst and making me sad :''(. The combination of visuals, text, and music are so well done here, and I can truly feel the emotions of the scene. They've managed to make the text shake and bounce which really adds to the intensity of a scene, and there's some fantastic scenes where I was holding my breath. Their art has also continued to get better and better and I love so many of the CGs in this game. I put an example below of Batensan's art, it's not a CG from the game but captures their style. I loved learning more about the fantasy setting of the Magical Otoge worlds, learning about the Magicians, and getting little glimpses of future and previous stories! If you've played the other games in the Magical Otoge series (which you definitely should) you'll love learning more about everything! It's cool how well thought out the setting is, and I was impressed by the volume of characters and stories within this game. There are little side episodes with certain characters that do a great job of building friendships or telling short, heartwarming stories. Batensan is really good at creating wonderful characters, beautiful stories, and making you ~feel~ things. They're also not afraid of exploring the darker side of characters; not all of these characters are saints by any stretch of the imagination. It's definitely not as fluffy and pure as their previous games.

My main criticism of the game is that the first playthrough felt pretty long and not in a fun way. I was interested in how the main plot was going to resolve, but after the route selection there's some meandering about and short episodes with side stories for different characters. It interrupts the momentum of the story, and I felt kind of adrift and unsure when or whether we'd get back to the main plot. It felt that way for the LI's story as well. I loved the shenanigans and characters and so on, but from a story perspective it felt somewhat fragmented. I started to love this game once I replayed the next routes, as I got to skip through a lot of the filler and just see the route-specific content. It felt a lot more streamlined and cohesive.

A few tips: (1) Pace yourself for your first playthrough. The game is somewhat episodic in nature, so play it for a while, and then feel free to leave it for a bit and pick it up again later. Trying to binge-play it is kind of tiring since it's hard to tell how far along you are in the story.

(2) I'd suggest playing the routes in the order they're listed. I think Rieffe's route ties in really well with the overarching story about the Magicians and so on, and gets you more invested in the setting. I played Lanneis's route first, which I think was a mistake, as it's more fluffy and Lanneis-specific rather than tied to the bigger picture. So do Lanneis second, then Reqieu 3rd. Reqieu's is more angsty than Lanneis, so you get Rieffe (angst) - Lanneis (less angst) - Reqieu (angst). An angst sandwich! Septem's is locked for last, and Reqieu's route also leads well into his.

(3) Play all the endings! Yes, even the bad ones. I think they're all really well done. At the very least, do Reqieu's and Septem's.

I really enjoyed this game (especially during my subsequent playthroughs), and I find the story and setting unique and intriguing. Despite this author's reputation for humor (Magical Otoge Ciel), they're also excellent at angst and feels. This was a magical story full of friendship and love (with a dash of sadness and despair), and I'm looking forward to whatever the creator makes next!

RNM 2x06 - Sex and Candy

EPISODE SUMMARY:

Maria’s (Heather Hemmens) investigation into her mother’s disappearance leads her and Alex (Tyler Blackburn) to the home of a mysterious boot maker named Travis (guest star David Anders). Meanwhile, on her journey of self-discovery, Isobel’s (Lily Cowles) night out leads her into the arms of someone unexpected. Finally, after making some major scientific strides, Liz (Jeanine Mason) is dealt a devastating blow. Geoff Shotz directed the episode written by Rick Montano & Vincent Ingrao (#206). Original airdate 4/20/2020.

DETAILS:

Max and Isobel's fight:

Lights start flickering when Max starts getting aggressive and then get brighter as he gets more worked up.

The first attempt to expel it seemed like he was causing an earthquake.  He blew out all the windows in the gym, knocked Isobel down, and there was shaking.  But it didn't seem to go beyond that room - no damage is seen when Michael arrives or around town.

Note, after the earthquake thingie the lights go out 

His hands are doing the electric power thingie and THEN he also grabs the lightning.

I think Isobel used her telekinesis to stop it and then push it away, which seemed to work...but if so then why couldn't Noah do that last season? 

Was it the sheer volume of electricity? There was definitely MORE than with Noah.

Michael uses his telekinesis to manually reset Max's heart.  This is very smart of him. Note that he's using his own heart/pulse to get it right.

They are using the antidote to Liz's serum to try to heal Max's mind. 

Michael says that they've been giving him antidote injections for three days (time jump).

Three days of antidote and no new memories for Max.

Isobel remembered her blackouts within a few hours of getting injected with the antidote in 1x10.

Note: Liz hesitated using the antidote this way in 1x10 because Isobel could still be dangerous and they didn't know about the 4th Alien yet.  There doesn't seem to be a similar hesitation with Max. Because Liz trusts him more? Because him forgetting her is more personal? It's not like there isn't a chance that Max is still dangerous…

Maria arranged a Mexican market in the Pony parking lot to subsidize her income.

Buffy the Beagle is Forrest's dog!

Maria comments that the meteor shower makes animals act strange. And humans too.

Forrest and Maria are organizing an open night mic at the Wild Pony.  Free drinks for performers.

Maria clearly approves of Forrest and Alex getting to know each other.  She smacks Alex for his awkward flirting.

The bootmaker's farm is about an hour outside of town.

The Science:

Kyle and Steph are watching a "surgical separation of craniopagus twins".

Craniopagus Twins = twins attached at the cranium/head. (Aka not a heart surgery).

"Did you know, ever since 1947, twin births in Roswell are higher than the national average? Maybe it's aliens."

Speaking of awkward flirting…. "You're just my favorite person I can't stand."

The Spanish:

Le cambio una bolsa de chiles para mi papá...for the free fries next time you come to the Crashdown.

Liz is bartering.  She says basically, I'll trade you a bag of chiles for my papa for free fries next time you come to the Crashdown. 

Note, the captions for this are wrong and use the Spanish word for grasshoppers instead, but you can clearly hear Liz say chiles. Thanks to @rosaortecho for pointing that out to me.

Max says:

I'm trying to eat clean. Uh, tiene carne seca sin como se dice, preservativos.

He's trying to say, basically, does the jerky have preservatives. 

Quiere carne a sin preservativos?

Basically, you want meat without condoms?

Lo siento. Uh, no lo entiendo.

I'm sorry, I don't get it.

Él quiere decir conservantes.

He means preservatives.

Michael asks Max who he's texting. Max says everyone has been messaging him but Cameron is the only one who hasn't responded, which isn't like her.

Wildly curious who he was texting though.  It's not like he's a social butterfly. His mom? The sheriff? Who? As I pointed out to some friends the other day, he spent his 21st birthday getting trashed with his SISTER. This is not a trait of a guy with lots of close friends.

Just as another note, Michael says he ghosted her. When exactly was that? Yes, Max ran out on her in the middle of a handy in 1x03, but they addressed that the next day.  She "broke up" with him in 1x07, but they were still good right up until she left town. 

Isobel:

"Does he seem different to you?"

Alex and Maria playing "Never have I Ever" in the car. Good way to do background on characters.

Maria has never cheated on a boyfriend

Alex has never been in a real relationship. Not even "Kellie Sommer-something".

Alex says that whenever he was with a woman he was trying to disappear.  Except for Sophomore year after Battle of the Bands. Seven Minutes in Heaven in Haley Moore's hall closet. Alex and Maria kissed and it was Maria's first kiss (and boob graze).  She always thought she'd marry Alex. Had to come up with a new plan after he came out. 

Alex says "I did too."

"Kissing you in that closet was the first time in my life that I enjoyed touching someone."

Max picks up Liz for their first date…

Just as a note, Save Tonight was the opening song in the pilot of OG Roswell. During the "oh, Max Evans is staring at you again." exchange between Liz and Maria.  So, it might go well with new beginnings or something ;-)

The Science:

"Psychogenic amnesia limits retrieval of stored memories, but if we light up your limbic system and gustatory cortex with some familiar signals…"

"Your milkshake might bring all my memories to the yard?"

**Note, second reference to this song in the context of Liz bringing Max milkshakes. First was in 1x06 by Isobel. Hmm. 1x06 and 2x06… maybe they should crack this joke in 3x06 too.

"Sometimes when people wake up from comas they have different personalities, different tastes even…"

Everything you ever wanted to know about psychogenic amnesia:

But, my main takeaway is that it's a specific type of amnesia where there's abnormal memory function but no brain damage or other clear cause of it.

Limbic system:

Basically the part of your brain that stores emotion, behavior, and long term memory.

Gustatory cortex:

Basically the part of your brain that processes taste.

Maria compares Michael to Chad because he starts fights and lies.  Alex disagrees and lists ways that he was doing good things:

He lied to protect his family from Alex's family.

He shouldered the burden of a murder he didn't commit for ten years so that Isobel didn't have to.

He pushed Maria away to protect her - which might be a good thing too because of all his baggage. 

First Date:

Max went to Ranch camp one summer and dislocated his shoulder while trying to read Lord of the Rings on horseback. #nerd. 

Liz references the gala as not their first date, but there was also the desert in high school.  I guess she doesn't count that either. 

Side note: Cam and Liz talked about him peacocking in 2x03, but that kinda felt out of character at the time to the Max we knew.  This Max DOES seem like he's peacocking a bit. Got dressed up, taking Liz horseback riding. He admitted to trying to one up whatever they did together before. Just an interesting (to me) observation.

Liz looks panicky when Max suggests truth serum (because Science!Liz probably could make truth serum), but once she realizes he means whiskey she's like, "oh yes, that's fine." Oh Liz… 

Diego details:

They were engaged just last year

Liz left without saying goodbye

Bioengineer 

They were working together on the Denver study

They would come home and keep talking about work

He had ideas to help improve it

They both spoke The Science

He pushed her to get better at The Science

When the funding was cut she realized she loved the work more than him

Liz couldn't figure out how tell him that so she packed her things in the middle of the night, hit the road, changed her phone, and blocked him on Facebook.

**This is the first time LIZ has mentioned social media. Interesting given the crap Maria keeps giving her about it!

Travis and fresh warm milk. What is up with it??

"Nice ring. Does it keep you from burning up in the daylight?"

David Anders introduces himself as Travis.

Just as a point of interest, Maria researched enough to find the bootmaker, figure out where he lives, but she didn't get his name??? 

Vampire Diaries/Originals reference.

Travis says he can't help with car stuff.

The milk was from a cow named Jennifer.  He milked her for the last time today. (Creepy).

Weird contradictory statements from Travis:

"You're the best thing I've seen in a long time."....

"Mm, I'm sorry. So many customers and all their ugly faces get all sewn up and stitched together in my mind."

"Yeah, that's the woman that bought them boots. While back. Nice lady. She paid cash."

Second reference to animals behaving strangely during a meteor shower:

"Meteor shower's got my girls singing a bit off key tonight.  Jennifer, she likes a good lullaby."

"Okay this guy is going to turn us into skin suits." (OG reference? Or just general sci-fi?)

Meteorchella at Planet 7 (Coachella-style party during meteor shower?) with any excuse to add sparkles!

Kyle says he's at Planet 7 because he's trying not to hang out with people from high school.

Isobel says she's trying to have fun without feeling like prey.

Don't think the details of Kyle/Isobel dancing matters all that much, but as a point of amusement I'll share that in the panel on Tuesday night they shared that Lily whispered something different to Trevino on every take...And they got progressively dirtier to the point that she finally felt like she crossed a line and profusely apologized.  Also the lick was a Lily addition. 

Max's confession about killing the drifter:

Kind of an interesting thing, comparing the first version of the drifter story in 1x06 to the 2x06 version. 1x06 was more dramatic, but 2x06 was more personal, I think. 

1x06

"There are moments that define our lives, and there are moments that divide our lives. Incidents that separate us into two different people: who we were before and who we will be after. Forever…One day we were children and the next we were something else. I was a killer. Michael an accomplice.  And Isobel...Isobel was broken."

Administrator's Note / Blog Update

Maybe today is a good day to talk about this little blog of mine. No worries, I currently have no plans to sacrifice my life for my big brother (me being an only child anyway) and I have no intention of killing off this blog either. On the contrary, I very much wish to keep it alive. However, this day, August 17, the day when episode 19 of Code Geass R2 was aired, has once again caught me more or less uprepared and has reminded me of the fact that I really have to invest more time and effort into this blog once again.

When I started Rolorules on a whim in August 2012, I had the ambition to publish at least one post a day, on average. After a few years, I had to curb this due to a lack of time and also material, but it is still my goal to post something pertinent at least on the non-otaku holidays (Christmas, Easter, New Year's Eve, Halloween, occasionally Valentine's Day) and on the days most relevant for Geass lore and Rolo in particular (Rolo's and Nunnally's, Lelouch's and (if possible) also Suzaku's birthday, Rolo Day on June 6, August 17 of course, and also September 28, the day of Zero Requiem.

For these, I'll try to come up with short stories or some other stupid ideas of my own, and I intend to keep relying on commissions (which I have not been able to get this year up to now, due to conventions being cancelled). I will also have to keep reblogging images, but I need to check a bit harder, it seems; when browsing my archive I noticed various double posts and even one triple post. I hope this does not hold true for today's posts. (Some of the video links also don't work anymore, but I doubt I will be able to do something about this any time soon,)

Then I had those essays about Rolo's (dysfunctional yet strangely lovable) personality titled How Rolo Rolls. Since they were more or less an analysis of his behaviour in the episodes, I do not have much to add, maybe there will be another special if I find the additional picture drama that was on the latest collector's edition blu-ray of R2 on YouTube (yes, I own it, but MINT CONDITION is important!). Something that I also own are the recap films and the new one, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re:surrection, but I must admit that I have not yet mustered the courage to watch them because I fear they might diminish my enjoyment of the series. As far as I am concerned, Code Geass was virtually perfect, and how can you improve perfection? Anyway, what I have watched are the additional scenes of the recap films, so I think I got a solid idea of how they treated Rolo's character and story arc. This is something I will definitely have to write about.

Finally, there were these essays about Rolo merchandise titled How Rolo Sells. One of them is still set on private because I never finished it to my satisfaction. One has to say that despite the avalance of merchandise that accompanied the recap films, there was not much noteworthy Rolo Lamperouge merchandise, mostly buttons, straps and keychains, basically merchandise for which you only needed some images (not even new ones in some cases) and a printer. Still there is enough old stuff left to keep the series going, so this is also something that's on my to-do list.

Thoughts on Poetry Writing by Rupi Kaur

I made a promised to myself to use this Enhanced Community Quarantine to be productive and exude my creativity to catch up with my backlogs. Although I slept around 2 am in the morning, after wrapping up my thoughts on the book that I have read, updated my IG with a poem and have watched a couple episodes of Madam Cj Walker via Netflix, I still managed to have a six good hours of sleep. Not bad!

Then I grabbed my phone to check if I received an important message about my work, picked up a Paulo Coelho book to start my early readings. As I checked my IG, I stumble an update from the poet Rupi Kaur about a couple of days ago giving an online poetry writing workshop since the whole world experience this pandemic.

Without mental reservations, I paid attention to the workshop, grab a pen and a notebook to actively participate the poetry writing workshop.

The workshop itself is brief, just an hour, but it is note worthy for beginners and for those who really wanted to explore and broaden their perspective in poetry. She gave three manageable writing prompts of which anyone can do. These are exciting writing exercises.

Like any other writers, she too experiences writer's block. Everytime it happens, she advised to let our thoughts pour on to a sheet of paper; allowing it to flow like a gushing water in the river and underneath the bed rock of soil and mud, there are gems you can filter to. If Im correct, this is what Virginal Woolf called as 'stream of consciousness.'

The first writing exercise is in a form of letter- epistolary. Addressing to a person, either someone you love or hate, your family or friend, or even a random person who comes into your mind. By allowing yourself to free verse, jot down what's on your mind of the things you wanted to say to that person. Nevermind the grammar. The objective of this exercise is to write your thoughts. Later on, we can all go back to revise and add flavor to it. This is a 15-minute workshop and in every after a minute, she interjected with random words which we used and associated in our letter. The words we materialized in our writing exercise are the following: box, peanut, green, clock, fingernails, cotton, videos, blood, horse and envelope. Yeah, these are just random words.

I addressed my letter to the infamous 'J' in my life. You know me, I think I am cursed with a person who's name starts with letter J. Later on, I'll post here on tumblr the content of that writing prompt--the original in English (pardone en gramatica) and the translated one.

The second writing exercise is a 'list poem.' I have heard a lot about this and might have incorporated in my poetry. But this time, I have totally get the rationale behind this. Now I grasped how I can use in my advantage in writing poetry. I will surely use this type of poetry to improve my craft. It reminds me of Cora Almerino, Erlinda Alburo, even Adonis Durado and other Pinoy poets. One of these days, I'll be sharing my own list poem from the workshop.

The third writing prompt given to us is a sonnet. Yeah, quite particular with the form given the fixed number of lines and the imagery it suggests. As a springboard for the workshop, Rupi asked us to look for an object which we can use for the poem and from it's onw point of view, we will view life based on the given guide questions each lines.

These questions, which I think is really helpful for beginners, are the following:

1. Who are you?

2. How are you feeling right now?

3. Where would you rather be?

4. What relationships do you have?

5. What do you dream of doing,m

6. What worries you?

7. What would you like others to think of you?

8. What keeps you awake at night?

9. What is the best thing you've ever done?

10. What is the worst thing you've ever done?

11. What makes you feeling guilty?

12. What is your favorite time of the day or night?

13. What is the point of your life?

14. How do you want to be remembered?

If you notices, these questions are somehow being address to the poet but since we inanimated an object, from its pov, the poem becomes more interesting due to the richness of imagery it suggests.

Of course, I'll be sharing my poem one of these days but for now, allow me to revise it.
