Concept for a lynx piñata cause I love Viva Piñata and I love lynxes and I think those two things should go together.

I also love moths so totally self indulgent drawing of the lynx and a mothdrop

#fun fact I actually dislike licorice #but no other candy went so well with lynx so it stayed #(I did look at the wikipedia list of candy and woah there's a lot of different types of candy)#I'm actually quite proud of the design (especially the sour one look at it it's so funky!!!!)#designing in the style of viva piñata was a fun challenge #the brainstorming was great too #but for some reason I got stuck with the rendered painting of the piñata house and three months had to pass until I could come back #the funny thing is that my art style changed a bit between those two last drawings #and I drew like 50 drawings inbetween them counting by the stuff in my folder #anyways this is for me and for you fellow viva piñata fans #maybe I'll draw more of this guy since I like their design a lot #I actually doubt we would get a lynx piñata if another game came out since there are at least 3 kitty piñatas #but that's exactly why I'm drawing this #viva piñata #viva pinata #vp mothdrop #vp #mothdrop #lynx #cinnamon's doodles

Hi, hello, so I’m gonna be talking about this comic (“Best Friends”) again (because I’m working real hard on the next five pages) and I just wanted to throw an actual visual representation of the size of this comic out into the void. I wasn’t kidding when I said this might end up being 30 or more pages by the time I’m done with it. But anyways, there are only five or so pages in this entire thing that don’t have lines/paneling and speech bubbles inked in black. Every one of these pages has a sketch of the page and text written in (handwritten text on the page tho).

So uh, this is what this comic is! I usually only complain about it late at night so if anyone’s wondering how they didn’t know this exists that’s probably why lol. Sorry about that!

#miwi comic: 'best friends'#byler #yeah this can go in the tag #you guys should see my layer groups on some of these #like they’ve all got at least ten layers and at most I think 30?#because of the speech bubbles- the colouring for those- the lines and panels- the background colouring- the charcater lines- painting lines #the sketch layer(s)- sketches for painting- all text bubbles are individually placed and sized #then I’ve got a bunch on clipping masks going on because it just easier to do that sometimes #oh and then all the reference pictures get layers too- and I’m counting them because I had to put them there #and some pages have boarders on them so those are a different layer too #it’s wild #but it’s actually really fun figuring out how to do everything

#i did watercolor over a pencil sketch because that's what i felt like doing #it was nice :]#even if it didn't turn out quite as i hoped i still had fun doing it and that's the big important thing #i keep forgetting i have curse of mixing up too much paint #i blame ceramics class for getting me into the habit of thinking in terms of relatively large (compared to the paintings i do) projects #that need at least 3 layers (or else the glaze is all translucent)#but i might very well have been saddled with this curse anyway

It's actually harder than #I initially thought to regularly find time to do a quick ms paint sketch and a small writing blurb #it's like even though it doesn't take extremely long it's still one of those things that is hard to carve out a little portion of the day #to do if your day is set up in a way not conducive to portion carving #BUT .. at least I have posted many drafts #as usual.. my style of like.. post nothing for 3 weeks then randomly post 25 things at once #NO idea why my brain works that way. it just does. it's easier #even though I know it's worse in terms of like. social media #the algorithms in most places prefer consistent steady uploads over time. not jarringly wavering between absence and hyper presence #then absence again. but .. alas...#Good to clear out a few drafts once in a while anyway. And I do really want to get back to scullptures and costumes. I stopped as much for #a while due to the pandemic (can't go to the bins anymore to get new supplies for costumes and stuff) as well as my worsened #health things/lack of energy and also my chest injury (so repetitive movements with my arms such as sitting in the same #position sculpting for 4 hours or changing clothes multiple times in quick succession etc. could flare it up) but obviously #none of those things are going to get better any time soon. so I should probably just try to do it here and there anyway. It's still not #safe to go to the bins. still having muscle problems. still low energy. But I could make it work maybe. I just feel bad having gotten out #of the habit when it is really fun stuff that I enjoy. Some things just get more difficult for me over time #But even like 3 sculptures and 10 costumes a year is better than 0 of any of those things. So. eh #I'm also just trying to clear out pictures still. My spring cleaning (which I do at the start of every new year instead of actual spring)#was kind of delayed this year due to me feeling sick and everything so even late into april I'm still working on the side at like orgnazing #all of the files on my computer. deleting things and backing up whatever I want to keep. clearing out photos.#editing and drafting (and maybe one day posting) old stuff form a while ago. etc. etc.#So any progress is good progress. I suppose.#ANYWAY.... a son... he gets very excited everytime he hears anyone anywhere crinkle up a piece of paper
